Java2 SDk

I have downloaded j2sdk-1_4_1_05-windows-i586 but I can't run any java programs. I set up a folder and put the java file into that folder. But when I try to compile the java file on the command line I get a bad command error. Have I done something wrong.

You must update your PATH environment variable and add thomthing like
PATH=yo_old_path_value;c:\j2sdk1.4\bin
also, maybe, you need to set environment variable JAVA_HOME like
JAVA_HOME=c:\j2sdk1.4
if you are using not windows operating system you must edit your profile
to set PATH and JAVA_HOME environment variables in notation of OS
in Linux you must edit ~/.profile and append thomthing like:
PATH=$PATH:/path/to/jdk/bin/directory
JAVA_HOME=/path/to/jdk/home/directory
export PATH
export JAVA_HOME

  • Installing JS App Server 8.2 platform on Sol10: Warning on java2 SDK

    I am running Solaris 10 (03/05) on a sparc Ultra10 workstation.
    Downloaded and installed Sun Java System Application Server 8.2 platform edition yesterday, using the installation wizard from a .bin file (nicer than pkgadd!).
    It installed successfully, and I was able to run the sample "what's your name?" app provided in domain1. However two odd things during installation:
    (1) It assigned HTTP port 33107 instead of 8080 as is assumed in the documentation. Would that be because I already had Apache Tomcat web server up and running, which uses 8080?
    (2) Got a warning during installation: "The java2 SDK at /usr/j2se is lower than the recommended 1.4.2 version. Specify another or continue?" (that's not quite verbatim.)
    But in /usr/j2se I seem to have a complete java2 SDK. The README there says it's 1.4.2, and all the directories/files seem to be there. Why would the installer complain?
    Question (2) is important because I had subsequent trouble running a JSP web app built by a colleague, and an imcomplete java2 may be the cause.
    Thanks.

    On your first question:
    AppServer installer uses default port (8080) only when it is available. If not it searches for available ports within specific range.
    Concerning the java version - try to get exact version of jdk installed in /usr/j2se using java -version command and compare it with version of jdk mentioned in AS8.2 release notes. Alternatively you can install version of jdk shipped with appserver to make sure you are running AppServer with supported jdk.

  • What happened to Java2 SDK 1.4.0-beta3?

    I have Java2 SDK 1.4.0-beta3 on my computer. I was going to re-download this program because I suspect some files have become corrupted. But I don't see it anymore on the download page. Instead I see things called J2 JRE 1.4.0 or J2 SDK 1.3.0 or J2 1.4.0 RC1. Which is right one to download? I already checked the installation information pages, and it doesn't help.

    I'd be satisfied with just re-downloading the Java API files (for Java2 SDK 1.4.0-beta3) instead of the whole package, if I knew where they're located.

    (to get applets work, try the new beta 3 of jdk 1.4,

  • Cannot uninstall Java2 SDK, SE v1.4.2_02 on win2000 SP4

    Hi,
    I cannot uninstall Java2 SDK, SE v1.4.2_02 on win2000 SP4. Follows the details.
    After opening "control panel", "add remove programs", selecting "java2sdk, SE v1.4.2_02" from the list, and clicking the "remove" button, the following happens:
    1) A window appears showing the text "Preparing to remove" ;
    2) A second window appears showing "Please wait while Windows configures java2 SDK, SE v1.4.2_02" and "Gathering required information";
    3) After some seconds, an error window appears: "Installer terminated prematurely";
    4) After clicking an "OK" button a second error windows shows: "Add/Remove program" title and the message "The I/O operation has been aborted, because either a thread exit or an application request".
    Any help, please? Some one knows a workaround or how to manually uninstall the j2sdk 1.4.2_02?
    Thank you in advance,

    OK,
    Fixed. After passing a ScanDisk to fix possible disk errors, the JSK uninstalled.

  • Java2 SDK SEv1.4.1_01-Win Install Failure - remote procedure call

    Whenever I try to install the J2 SDK 1.4.1 on Windows XP Pro, everything works til the actual install is supposed to start. It just hangs there. When I hit the Cancel button, nothing happens; so I have to use task manager to cancel it. Afterward a small window with a message saying "An error occurred while launching the setup. The remote procedure call failed". I found a similar posting last spring for XP & J2 SDK 1.4.0, but there was no resolution posted. Does anybody know what the problem is?

    I would be very interested in a solution for this problem as well. I get father. The installer runs all the way through until it is done (100%). But it does not complete and hangs. If I cancel install the error dialog with the following message. "An error occurred while launching the setup. The remote procedure call failed." appears. This is also an Windows XP Pro machine.

  • Installing java 2 sdk in RedHat linux7.1

    I have downloaded java2 sdk (rpm file) and installed it in RedHat linux 7.1 but I can't run javac to compile my java programs.
    can somebody please explain why???

    I have the same problem as you! RHLinux 7.1 comes with preinstalled of JAVA jdk, it might be 1.1.8 (the IBM jdk.) Check your /usr/bin as
    $ls /usr/bin | grep j*
    you may find then the binary tools.
    Also check for some gcj utils at /usr/share/doc
    Now the problem is how to remove the older version and updating the PATH for the newer sun's version jdk-1.3.1_01. you may check postings at $PATH for RHLinux 7.1

  • Problems with Java2 RMI

    Greetings,
    We are MSU students working on a project called Web-based robot control by using Java2 RMI. We are currently using the Java2 SDK 1.4.1_01, commapi (for port communication) and ACL robot control. However, with our limited knowledge on Java programming language, we encounter some problems. I wish to get help from any user who could help.
    You can downloaded our code from the following http://www.geocities.com/lukaszshen/WBRC.html
    The following are the steps we have done:
    1.     Write and compile code. The attachment contains the 5 parts of the program:
    -     Robot.java (interface)
    -     Move.java(interface)
    -     RobotEngine(server)
    -     RobotMove(client)
    -     Sendtorobot(serial communication)
    2.     Running the program:
    a.     We start the rmiregisty from the folder were our program is located
    b.     In the next DOS-PROMT Window, first we set out class paths to:
    CLASSPATH=c:\RobotProject; c:\RobotProject\robot.jar; c:\j2sdk1.4.1_02\lib\comm.jar
    Second, we run our startserv.bat file to start the server.
    3.     We run the client by first setting up the class paths:
    CLASSPATH=c:\RobotProject; c:\RobotProject\robot.jar; c:\j2sdk1.4.1_02\lib\comm.jar
    Second we run the startserver.bat file.
    The following are the problems occur while running the client,
    C:\Robot>startclient.bat

    The following is the alternative we tried:
    Another alternative we tried was to simplify the program only to serial communication. The serial communication called SimpleWrite and its compiled class is attached in the SW folder.
    Below is the problem that occurred. Port COM1 not found. We also tried to run java BlackBox from commapi directory to search for ports but again the massage came up to be no ports found.
    C:\j2sdk1.4.1_02\bin>java SimpleWrite
    port COM1 not found.
    We would like to ask for help with the above problems. Thank you very much!!

    Hi, thanks for the reply.
    Yes, actually we are setting up a host and a client. The host is connected to a ACL controller then to a robot. We are trying to control/move the robot via serial port (COM1, RS-233) from the client workstation.
    We have limited Java programming knowledge, we need help. Thank you very much.
    If you download the source code from our temporary home page, you can see all the source code we modified.

  • Sdk/jre folder nightmare

    It is a nightmare keeping up sdk/jre folders. Every time, there is a new version of j2se sdk/jre, it always creates a new folder. Then i have go on all the pcs, uninstall old version and change the JAVA_HOME and CLASSPATH. It is pain. Why can't sun just create the generic folder and have an auto uninstall program to automatically uninstall previous version in their upgrades of sdk/jre's? Has anyone have a solution?

    Well, on unix, there is a trivial solution for this: Create a symlink which points to the sdk installation dir, and make symlinks from the executables, too. Here is what I mean:
    I installed java2 sdk to /usr/local/apps/j2sdk. Then I created a link to this dir, named /usr/local/apps/java2. After that, I symlinked all executables from /usr/local/java2/bin to /usr/local/bin.
    This way, if I install a newer version of java, all I need is to change the target of that one link, and nothing else is necessary.

  • How to call a function from Java to JSP

    Hello,
    I have a question about using tags.
    I have a java file,which has a function. Now I want to call this function into my JSP page.
    I'm using JSP 1.2 and TOMCAT 4.1 with Java2 SDK.
    I search through the web and find a method to do this.Bu it requires JSP 2.0

    Thanks.

    Yes. As serlank showed, you can just call the function easily in scriptlet tags
    However the whole point of a tag library is to avoid the use of scriptlets.
    Seeing as you can't use functions, is just to do it as a standard tag.
    ie in your jsp
    <login:verify name="<%= userName %>" password = "<%= password %>" resultVar = "status"/>
    <c:choose>
      <c:when test="${status == 'InvalidU'}">
        <c:set var="nextPage" value="InvalidUserName.jsp"/>
      </c:when>
      <c:when test="${status == 'InvalidP'}">
        <c:set var="nextPage" value="InvalidPassword.jsp"/>
      </c:when>
    </c:choose>In your case, this tag in the tld would possibly look something like this.
    You would then have to write a tag handler class that would call the function you want.
    <tag>
      <name>verify</name>
      <tagclass>com.tags.login.Verify</tagclass>
      <teiclass>com.tags.login.VerifyTEI</teiclass>  (if required)
      <bodycontent>JSP</bodycontent>
    // name attribute
    <attribute>
          <name>name</name>
          <required>true</required>
          <rtexprvalue>true</rtexprvalue>
        </attribute>
    // password attribute
        <attribute>
          <name>password</name>
          <required>true</required>
          <rtexprvalue>true</rtexprvalue>
        </attribute>
    // result variable to return a response from the tag.
      <variable>
        <name-from-attribute >resultVar</name-from-attribute >
        <variable-class>java.lang.String</variable-class>
        <declare>true</declare>
        <scope>AT_END</scope>
      </variable>
    </tag>Hope this helps some, and doesn't confuse too much :-)
    Cheers,

  • Help to solve this simple problem- please

    Hi !
    Is there any method to resolve this problem.
    In my db there are 2 tables called Employee and Insurance. There fields as follows.
    Employee(empno,name,age,address,phone)
    Insurance(empno,insurName,insurCompany)
    Now I want to do this.In my HTML form,there are textboxes to input all of these data.
    Eg: empno,name,age,address,phone,insurName,insurCompany (All of these enter into 1 form)
    Now my problem is, how to save these data into the 2 seperate tables by using PreparedStatement.See am I right?
    INSERT INTO Employee,Insurance VALUES (?,?,?,?,?,?,?);
    Is it right? I'am confusing about these para's, because how can I tell to insert that first para (empno) into 2 tables.
    I using Java2 SDK,JSP,TOMCAT with MySQL db for this.
    Please anyone can answer this, help me.

    No, you need one INSERT statement for each table.

  • I can't insert my data into the table - help please

    Hello everyone,
    I have a trouble about JSP. I'm using Java2 SDK,JSP 1.2,Mysql and TOMCAT.
    I want to do this. A user has to enter the nicno,into the html form(EnterNicInter.jsp),to verify if it is already exist or not. If it is exist in the db, an error msg(Record already exist) must be displayed. If not, then the page "InterviewForm.jsp" displayed. This part is working.
    But, I can't save these details into the db by clicking submit button int the InterviewForm.jsp.
    I wrote a javaBean for this task. Here is it.

    Candidate(nicNo,title,fName,civilStatus,tele,eduQua)
    Can anybody tell me whats going on, help me to solve this please.
    Thanks.

    you should try something different, since you are mixing up a lot of code.
    1) create a separate method just to connect and disconnect from a database;
    2) use the value entered and see if you can find a record in the table. If the record is there, then you should re-direct your jsp to a jspError, else goes to another form.
    the code below give you some idea
          if( sAction.equals("Add1") ) {
            sITEM = request.getParameter("parameter1");
            try {
              itemmaster.connect();
              itemmaster.viewitemmaster( sITEM );
              rs = itemmaster.getRs();
              if( rs.next() ) {
                sURL = "additemmaster1.jsp";
              else {
                request.setAttribute( "asITEM", sITEM );
                sURL = "additemmaster2.jsp";
            finally {
              rs.close();
              itemmaster.disconnect();
          }
