JavaScript crashes dreamweaver

Create a new JavaScript file;
paste or write:
var [a] = b;
and Dreamveaver will crash.
Can someone confirm this?
Was this known?

I can confirm it in CS5 on W7 64bit.  As far as I know, it's not a known crash.
YIKES.

Saving files crashes dreamweaver CS5 running 10.6.8...

I think it might have been an Apple security update, still doing research on this problem. Anyone else have any insight??? I called Adobe today and they couldn't fix it. DreamWeaver CS5 crashes on saving on Mac OS 10.6.8, a huge bummer.

  • Please help - index.html file crashes Dreamweaver and others

    Hello -
I went to open my tried and true index file today and it crashed Dreamweaver every time. I then tried to open it in TextEdit and Word, and it crashed both of those!  I then downloaded the index file from my website, which displays fine in browsers, and that file ALSO crashes Dreamweaver!
I am lost on this one.  I have re-created the index file and uploaded a working one.  HOWEVER, I'd like to find out what happened as this is quite disconcerting to say the least.  Should I attempt to post the code here?  I can view it in Safari, but that's about it.  I tried deleting the deleting the personal cache file, but that did not help.
I am on CS4 for Mac, running Snow Leopard OS.
Thanks in advance for any input on where to look!
    Kelli

    Kelli, Chris -
When DW "crashes", what specifically happens?
I had a similar issue yesterday with DW going "unresponsive" on me - it just froze when trying to open up certain pages.
Here's a link to the thread.  Hope it helps.

  • ADF core JavaScript crashing

    Hi colleagues.
I'm having an issue regarding to core ADF JavaScript in our WebCenter Portal (11.1.1.6.6). I think that this is the correct forum to ask it because is a ADF related issue.
    Some of the errors are:
    Message: Expected ')'
    Line: 667
    Char: 411
    Code: 0
    URI: http://host/webcenter/afr/partition/ie/n/default/opt/core-11.1.1.6.0-2178.js
    Message: 'AdfUIComponents' is undefined
    Line: 1
    Char: 1
    Code: 0
    URI: http://host/webcenter/afr/partition/ie/n/default/opt/menu-11.1.1.6.0-2178.js
I was checking on the forum related issues that the people have but not find a correct solution for this problem. (ADF WebPage Error)
I checked IE browser settings according to Oracle recommendations. Also checked if the problem persists accesing from F5, OHS or directly to the server.
Anyone have a clue or tip of why can be ADF JavaScript crashing?. It will be related to the browser settings, security?. Someone had before the same problem and can share some information?
    Thanks in advance.
    Best regards.

I used to handle a lot of bugs like this on the ADF team. If you posted some code, I might be able to help. Just because it happens only on IE, doesn't mean that it is an IE bug. IE just does things differently, and there is a LOT of code in ADF to handle those differences. There are some things that you can do when developing a page that will still cause issues in IE. It seems that less than 1 out of 10 of the bugs like this that were submitted against ps7 were actual bugs in ADF.

  • Attaching a external CSS stylesheet crashes Dreamweaver CC

When I either choose Attach CSS Style Sheet from the Menu: Format > CSS Styles > Attach Stlye Sheet or using the + (symbol) on the the CSS Designer panel for Sources, I get no response or dreamweaver crashes completely. Just wonder if anyone else is experiencing this problem or if anyone has suggestions to why this might be happening?

I tried restoring the preferences and it still doesn't work. When I go to select Attach Existing CSS File from the CSS Designer panel it will not let me click on that option the pop up menu just dissappears and nothing happens. If I try selecting the same option from the Format menu it just crashes Dreamweaver.

The Preview function is a development feature to demonstrate the results of merging data (the .xml specificed in Form Properties > Preview > Data File) with the .xdp or .pdf. When you open in the form in Reader or Acrobat the same .xml file is not merged with the form automatically.
To get data into a PDF you have a number of options including:
    1) use LiveCycle Forms ES server-side solution to do data merge
    2) use a data connection to a database or a Web Service
    3) use JavaScript importData() or FormCalc get()
To use options 2) and 3) the form has to be rights-enabled for the respective function to work in Reader.
If you use option 3), you can attach the JavaScript 'xfa.host.importData()' to a button or some other event. When importData() fires it will prompt the user with a file browser to pick the .xml. The importData() method will work if the PDF is rights-enabled, only. Open the PDF in Acrobat Professional, from the toolbar, select 'Advanced > Extend Features in Adobe Reader' and save the PDF.
Note, if you specify the .xml file name in importData(), the PDF must be certified. This is for security purposes.

  • How to Stop a Loop from Crashing Dreamweaver

I am working on some loops and when I get them wrong a continuous loop results causing Dreamweaver to crash.
Is there a button or a CTRL key combination where I can I stop / break the loop before it crashes ? I try to use 'Stop' but it does not always work.
The only way I can see to stop it is by killing DW through Task Manager which is a major pain,
    thanks Vincej

By default, a PHP script will run for 30 seconds if you create an infinite loop. You just have to bide your time until the loop has run. There is no way to stop it.
The pain helps you learn not to write continuous loops.

  • I am unable to use the Live View function when working with JavaScript in Dreamweaver.

I am currently trying to set up my own website with dreamweaver and am very familiar with Java and JavaScript. However, whenever I try to use the Live View function it never lets me. Additionally, I am unable to preview my work in a browser as the option to do so is greyed out.
However, I have noticed that when using html in a project, all these functions are available. Any ideas how I can be able to use these functions?

Is it possible you meant to say you were "very unfamiliar with Java and javascript" in your initial post?
Javascript doesn't do anything without an html page to affect.
Java and javascript are not the same thing, they're really not even related other than browsers can be made to render both. Java is its own programming language while javascript is basically html's helper monkey. I don't think it's even feasible to "understand javascript" without knowing html. My last post still stands, if you are coding javascript, you need an html based page to turn it into anything but plain code to a browser, so the option to view it will never come up. When you preview the page it's attached to, it will function correctly (as long as it has been attached to the page correctly).
Java on the other hand can create programs that run without a browser at all and I've never gotten close to touching that monster.
You may need to explain what you're trying to do and post the code here to get the help you need.

  • Line CSS Code Crashes Dreamweaver CS4

    Steps to reproduce bug:
    1. Open dreamweaver, and start a new CSS file
    2. Write this code, do not copy paste :
    @media print{
    #tepe, #rightpanel,
    3. While writing the code, Dreamweaver crashes. In some cases, even thought i was able to fully write the code, trying to save or closing Dreamweaver also crashed.
3a. Save this code to a file with notepad and open with dreamweaver. Dreamweaver crashes.
    Try it yourself...

    Strange, mine crashed instantly.
What I did is write the code in texteditor, saved it as test.css and then opened the file in DW CS4.
    Bingo.
    K.
(I only have Mac to test it with)
MacBookPro & Mac Pro, both with 10.6.4

  • Seasonal Time Change Bug crashes Dreamweaver 9 (CS3)- still no fix?

The fact that Adobe has produced a new version of CS3 does not in my opinion give them a reason not to fix the CS3 bug that causes Dreamweaver to crash when any attempt is made to edit the ASP or  PHP components of a file.
This bug is caused by daylight time adjustments.
The podge that is recommended by Adobe is to delete the WinFileCache-AD76BB20
While this works, as it happens only every 6 months, it is easy to spend time working out why your existing files all crash the system, but newly created ones do not.
You can find the solution at http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/402/kb402776.html
Bookmark this as it may save you the 4 hours or so that I spent trying to find a solution.
It would cost Adobe nothing to send out an e-mail to all existing owners of CS3 containing this bug fix, and would certainly improve their reputation in many quarters.

    well.
it feels bad, after paying money.
not being able to use a software full.
and ADOBE must be ashamed to give such service
(by not updating these softwares which has still lots of unknonw! bugs and also must be ashamed to put a page for unknown bugs. and trying to make customers be their own software engineers instead of the company's hundreths of engineers)
and this, which they do not fix their program is not important or the issue.
it is a sad subject that, they think the people will give money to fix their unusable programs which they already bought.
and to customers who has paid about 1000$ to a software suit are having a bad vision that ADOBE started to work for money instead of customer happiness.
    when they understand their
1000$ program has no support at all. no update or fixes at all.
which can not do a simple action
which the simplest editor WORDPAD editor does.

When trying to use find and replace dreamweaver always crashes. I've tried clearing the cache from instructions  of this link and it didn't work. http://forums.adobe.com/thread/494811
    Please help!

Does the issue occured after you made any H/w or S/w changes on your MAC(may be after upgrading your OS)?
If so, have you tried restoring dreamweaver's preferences? Follow the link below.

Make sure you backup all your current preferences if you need them again.
