JOB_KEY and JOB_RUNID in metadata

It appears that JOB_KEY and JOB_RUNID (from ALVW_FLOW_STAT) are both unique to a particular job execution, is that true?
Background:
In the DI Reference Manual the two columns from ALVW_FLOW_STAT are defined as:
- JOB_KEY Internal ID for this job in the repository.
- JOB_RUNID Unique identifier for a particular execution of the job.
When I read this I thought it meant that JOB_KEY would have be unique to the JOB, i.e. a JOB_NAME would have one JOB_KEY (or surrogate key) while every time a job is executed a unique JOB_RUNID is generated. It appears that both JOB_KEY and JOB_RUNID are unique to a job execution run.
fyi: A suggestion is that the documentation be changed to reflect what JOB_KEY actually is:
- JOB_KEY Internal ID for a specific job EXECUTION in the repository.
Edited by: Richard Sherman on Aug 9, 2008 6:44 AM

The JOB_KEY is the key of a run. Whenever you execute something this table's surrogate key is increased (AL_HISTORY.OBJECT_KEY). The JOB_RUNID (=AL_HISTORY.INST_EXEC) is the timestamp when the job was started the first time. It does not change if the job was executed in recovery mode and then restarted from-last-failed-execution point.
Based on the documentation I would read it completely different as well. Bug ADAPT01115982 filed.
The other question I have is why is the AL_HISTORY.OBJECT_KEY not a primary key?

  • Editing and sharing custom metadata/keywords through Adobe Drive in Adobe Bridge

I am part of a four-person video production unit operating within a local governmental entity. We are currently using four licenses of Adobe Master Collection CS5, and are about to get access to dedicated SAN storage.
We would like each user to have the ability to assign specific keywords to any given video clip (or remove keywords from clips) within Adobe Bridge, and have the three other users see the same results. I've noticed that Bridge alone will allow for keywords to be added or removed, but this list is specific to each user. Importing one list into other users' profiles is a start, but would no longer work, once keywords are added or taken away.
The overview page for Adobe Drive 3 says that it, "allows users to edit and view custom metadata/properties through Adobe Drive in Adobe Bridge," but I haven't found any explanation in either the website, forums, or user's guides that delves any farther into this area. If we incorporate Adobe Drive/Bridge into our workflow, will we be able to share/sync keywords between users? Is there some other (affordable) solution that would let us do this?
Thanks for any insight you might be able to offer.
    Chuck

    Hi,
    Thanks for sharing your case.
The keywords you mentioned is XMP metadata, if all your digital assets are managed by ADEP CQ DAM service, you can use AD3 with built-in ADEP connector to communicate with the DAM server, then, I think it can meet your requirement, it means, the keywords can be set by one user through metadata panel in Bridge, and can be viewed by other users.
for custom properites, it's different from XMP metadata, it refers to the properties of one asset which is managed by a Content Management service. users have to use another UI to edit/view them in Br after AD3 is installed.
here are some requirements to use it.
    1) CMIS 1.0 compiliant server should be used to manage all your digital assets
    2) use the built-in CMIS with AD3 to connect to the server.
if other kind of servers are used, you should develope a custom connector through AD SDK to enable custom properties feature as well as some other handler required by AD SDK

Lightroom is not saving metadata. I have done several things to save and I still get the tag that states is is not saved. I have also created 2 smart collections. One showing metadata has been changed and one showing metadata is not up to date. No matter what I do it is not showing in LR that it is saved. I spent 2 days with Seth Resnick trying to correct this and we re created my catalog. It was ok, until I imported new images and same problem. Now I have a new problem, when I bring image to PS it saves it but does not bring back to LR. Am I the only one out there who has this problem?

  • "Scene", "Description", "Comment", and "Log Note" metadata fields don't appear in Prelude

Can I use the "Scene", "Description", "Comment", and "Log Note" metadata fields in Prelude that are basic parts of Premiere's logging screen? I can't find them in Prelude.
I would like to continue in the Premiere (CS6) workflow I have been using of adding a Scene, Description, Comment, and Log Note. These are front and center in Premiere for logging. Yet, nowhere to be found in Prelude. As far as I can tell, all of the rest of the metadata categories will transfer. It seems that these should be in the "basic" group in Prelude, but don't appear.

I have a similar problem, but it gets weird.
I have been very very happy with the whole 'cloud' computing thing and keeping my stuff at Google. Contacts and Calendar worked flawlessly since I bought the Pre.
However, last week, I had to do a full erase of my Pre (UK-O2) because no apps would install.
I logged into my Palm Profile on the phone; logged into my Google account just after, and checked my Calendar and Contacts.
Calendar - all fine, just a few cosmetic tweaks of the colours. Good.
Contacts - not fine. Only 19 of 58 were imported from Google, and none of them had their photos. So I hit the Sync Now button a few times - with and without WiFi - with and without 3G - but that did not help.
So I waited for it to do it itself. No change.
So I did some searching on the web. I checked that all the contacts were in 'My Contacts' at Google... yes. I removed the Google Contacts account from the Pre. Then added it back again.
Weird bit coming up.... exactly the same 19 contacts were added as before!
I am at a loss really. I have even tried creating a 'googlemail' account because a web page suggested it and logging in with that.
No change. Still 19 contacts not 58.
Also, I cannot add a contact directly in the Pre and have it whizz off to Google HQ like before. This now does not work.

  • How to export and NOT include metadata or EXIF data

When I export versions, each photo has the metadata included. How do I export without any information in the photo?
Any exported photo I do and you open it in EXIF Viewer, all the camera info, exposure etc… is all there.
I export to JPG from NEF D300 files.

In the "Export Presets" you can de-select the option "Include metadata" at the top of the window. If you want to then you could create a new preset that does not include your metadata, so that you have one with and one without metadata.
When you export your files then be sure to select the correct preset.

  • List view threshold and columns manage metadata problems

    Hi
We have problem in our company since we have more files in library than is set in List view Threshold.
I have created index on column "year" and create view filter: Year is equal 2015.
and I get famous error: this view cannot be displayed because....
I haven`t find any limitations on column type: manage metadata?

    Hi,
As I understand, you encountered the issue after you created view filter.
Every column type has the default number that can be created. You should go to check the number of your column created is less than the number by default.
Per my test, I can achieve it without exceeding list view threshold.
    Check things below:
    1. You can increase the number of the list view threshold, and after that, you can try again to see the same situation will occur.
    2. Go to create another managed metadata column “year”, and create index on column "year", and create view filter in the same list to see the issue will occur.
    3. Check ULS log to see the details about the cause of the issue.

  • Exploring and editing pdf metadata

    Adobe FOrm
Looking for either an Adobe or third party solution such that I can explore and edit my pdf metadata.  I have hundreds of technical and journal documents 9somewhat organized).  But search for a particular article can be a daunting experience.  I've seen a number of third party application which will allow me to visually explore my pdfs files but was wondering if there is an Adobe solution or a recommended third party solution some of you might use.
    Jeff

Adobe Bridge can edit/search/display the XMP metadata in lots of different file types, but it's only available as part of a collection (e.g. a Creative Cloud subscription).

  • Importing Photos and NOT including Metadata at the same time

    Hello
I know you can export a photo and marking the check box to NOT INCLUDE metadata, but can you import the same way.
    Thanks

Aperture does not allow to modify EXIF tags. You will need other tools for doing that. If you know hot to use the Terminal, you can modify EXIF tags with exiftool, see:

  • How to split iPhoto library and NOT loose metadata?

My iPhoto library gets too big (30GB); hence I'd like to split it and make two separate libraries, one for 2008, one for 2009.
How can I do this WITHOUT loosing all the metadata and file structure: e.g. the albums, the MobileMe gallery, the Faces and Places data etc.???
Any solutions, suggestions, pointers are welcome. Thanks.

Splitting the Library will not save you any disk space, and will, in fact, use more as the database and support files will be duplicated. Also, it's less convenient as you can only access one Library at a time. If you're worried about disk space you can run a Library from an external disk.
    That said:
Duplicate the Library in the Finder.
Open the first one - lets say it's the 2009 one - and remove all the 2008 elements from it.
Then Open the second one and remove all the 2009 elements from it.
Result: two libraries, intact for the respective years.
To choose a Library to open: Hold down the option (or alt) key key and launch iPhoto. From the resulting menu select 'Choose Library'
Managing Multiple Libraries - including moving pics/albums/rolls and metadata between them - is greatly facilitated by using iPhoto Library Manager

  • How to export both masters and versions w/ metadata?

When traveling I import photo files into Aperture on my laptop and edit them.  When I get home I would like to export "everything" - masters, versions, and metadata, so that I can then import all of this into Aperture on my desktop.  Or, perhaps there is another way to transfer all of this information into Aperture on my desktop?  The export menu seems to give only the option to export either masters or versions, but I want to basically duplicate on my desktop a particular project from my laptop.  Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.  Thank you!

You get the option to either add the contents of the being-imported Library to the being-imported-into Library, or to merge the contents.  In neither case is the being-imported-into Library replaced.
It is always a good idea to maintain a practice Library of a few hundred images, and to use it to try out any actions you fear might destroy your work.
There is an entire chapter in the User Manaul on using Library files.  It is part of the general introduction to Aperture (viz.: the first seven chapters), all of which is recommended reading as it provides the foundation needed to achor your exploration of the rest of this complex, powerful program.
What you want to do is part of that power -- it is specifically provided as a feature of Aperture:
This is particularly useful if you use a portable computer when on location or away from your studio, and a workstation at your studio. Any work done in the field can be exported from your portable computer as a library file and then merged with the library file on the workstation at your studio.
In your case, either export everything ("Export→Project as New Library") from the "field" computer, or simply import the entire "field" Library.  The details of the workflow are up to you to determine.  They will likely depend on what Images you want to maintain on your "field" computer -- whether that Library is a one-time only collecting basket, or is used for processing or showing Images collected on previous excursions.

  • Some missing and corrupt IPTC metadata on export

As a Lightroom user I'm trying Aperture 3, I may be missing something or failing somewhere...
I've imported some RAW files which already have IPTC metadata, captions, copyright, keywords etc. On export the copyright field has corrupted, the symbol © becomes ¬© and a few fields are missing. I don't have a date, rights usage and the image is marked as unknown copyright status.
All of that data (except copyright status) appears in Aperture so I'd expect to see it in an exported JPEG. Everything appears as I expect when making a JPEG from Lightroom.
Thanks for any comments or advice.

As a matter of fact, it doesn't export costum filds at all.
By definition, custom fields are non-standard, and therefore aren't included in the exported file as they won't mean anything to other software. This has been the case since Aperture 1.0 and has absolutely nothing to do with other metadata problems.
Your website will likely be reading IPTC tags so if you want the information to be readable you'll have to find some appropriate IPTC tags to store the information in.

  • Nikon D80 JPGs and PS3 Bridge metadata editing

PS3 Bridge will show thumbnails of Nikon D80 JPGs, but will not allow editing or additions to Metadata to be saved in Bridge.  PhotoShop CS3 will allow adding, editing and saving metadata in the File Info section, but I can't edit it with Bridge.
Yeah, I need to upgrade to CS4, but can't get the bean counters to sign off on it!

Workaround.  I created a metadata template in PS3 and Saved it.  Then created an action that applied the template to the image in PS3 and saved the action.  Then I went to Bridge and selected all the files and ran a batch on all of them that ran the action and saved the file.  Now each file has the metadata common to them all in the metadata when looking at them in Bridge AND they can all have unique metadate ID added and saved in Bridge.

  • Photoshop cc optimising for web and devices, keeping metadata for original size

Hello, I am having trouble working out why the CC version of photoshop keeps the metadata for the original sized photograph after being optimised for web and devices.
When I look at the file size after it has been optimised in finder on the Mac it says that the file is 177KB, when i bring it back into photoshop the image size reads as 4.64 MB. Can anyone help? Thank you

The 4.64 MB is the opened size in memory, after you close the file it is compressed to 177 KB to save disk space.
So 4.64 MB opened, 177 KB closed to take up less storage.
Kind of like folding your clothes and placing them in a suitcase.  My file is 8.58 MB open/407KB compressed.
If you do not want Metadata included in File > Save for Web, choose none from the Metadata drop-down menu.

  • Bug Fix ACR 4.6 RC and Sony A900 Metadata

I just shot some files with a Sony A900. Though I see that there is only preliminary support for the Sony A900 in ACR 4.6_RC and LR 2.1_RC, I thought I'd give it a try.
Both programs will build previews and adjust settings, however Metadata cannot be written, added, appended or synced in Sony A900 .AWR files in Bridge.
It is however possible to write or sync the metadata in the exact same .AWR files in LR 2.1_RC
    So one point for Hogarty...
    Brian Smith
    [email protected]

    Thomas,
Thank you for the quick reply.
When selecting a Sony A900 .AWR, this is what I have:
    File>Open With>Adobe CS3(default)
I have the same set-up for Canon .CR2
    ACR 4.6 is installed here:
    Library>Application Support>Adobe>Plug-Ins>CS3>File Formats>Camera Raw.plugin
One more thing, after saving the develop settings and metadata that I applied in LR2.1 then went back to Bridge and the previews update with the color adjustments and ratings from LR2.1 just as they should and if I select metadata view, the metadata also appears.
However if I go to the File tab, "File Info" is grayed out and cannot be selected. The same thing happens in the Tools tab, "Append Metadata" and "Replace Metadata" are grayed out.

  • Virtual copies are not synchronized in a second Lightroom catalogue although metadata are written in XMP and synchronization with metadata was selected

    Dear community,
I operate one Mac with Lightroom 5.7 that is configured to store all metadata in xmp files. The Lightroom catalogue is stored locally on the Mac and only contains references to the images and their xmp files that are stored on a network device. There is another Mac with the same configuration having a separate local Lightroom catalogue and access to the same images on the network device.
At a starting point, both Lightroom catalogues are identical - they refer to the same images on the network device and contain the same metadata.
When I update image properties on the first Mac, these changes are reflected in the xmp file. After using the option "synchronize" with activated "metadata synchronization" on the second Mac, the modified image properties are visible on the second Mac. This is fine.
However, when I create a virtual copy on the first Mac, I realize that the corresponding xmp file gets updated. However, even after synchronization, the virtual copy is not visible on the second Mac. I may modify image properties of the original image and get these modifications replicated to the second Mac, but the virtual copies remain on the first Mac.
What needs to be done that also virtual copies get synchronized?
Thank you very mich for your support.
    Best regards,
    Peter

I do not doubt that File Export / File Import will work to transfer the virtual copies.
My question was related to the fact whether the imported folder should not previously exist on the second Mac.
    Consider the following situation:
    time = 0:
first Mac: folder A is in a first status
second Mac: folder A is in a first status
    time = 1:
first Mac: folder A is in a second status, export folder A in second status
second Mac: folder A is in a first status, import folder A in second status
My question is: What happens with these two folder A on the second Mac? Does folder A in the Lightroom catalogue of the second Mac gets overwritten? Do I receive an error message because folder A is already present in the Lightroom catalogue?
I understand your answer that everything will be fine on the second Mac if there is no folder A at all at the second Mac while I import the new folder A. Under this assumption, I can import folder A and it will show the second status. Clearly.
My question is only related to the fact that there is already a folder A on the second Mac, with the same images, but with different metadata and/or virtual copies.
