Job running longer than usual.

Hi Sappers!!
We have a job that runs everyday at 1:00 AM for about 2-3 hours. This job, which started at around 1:00 AM today is still running. Its been over 14 hours now.
Job Description:
Extract of open A/R items from table BSID with corresponding data from customer master records, billing document data, and cash application data. Sent to the GetPaid application database daily.
Would appreciate any pointers on this issue!
Thanks for your time!

VR,
Since you haven't mentioned a t.code, I'm assuming it's a custom report / program.
There could be far too many thing that could have gone wrong with a custom program to even warrant a mention in this forum. However, suffice to say that a suitably smart ABAP-er can try adn debug the batch job. You can do this by going to t.code SM50, select the PID for your job, and go to "Program/Mode --> Program --> Debugging".
You can then analyze what is stopping the job / causing it to run so slow.
Trust this helps.
Remember to assign points if found useful.

  • DTP running longer than usual

    Hi Experts,
We have 2 DTPs (Master Data) that run everyday through a process chains in delta mode. The data that is picked from PSA comes through a infopackage which is a full load. Usually, the DTPs processes just the new full load that comes everyday in the PSA which gets done in 15-20 mins. For some mysterious reason, instead of processing just the new load, it randomly processed the previous loads (not all) and took almost 6 times the time to finish it.
Nothing was changed in the last few days neither in DTPs nor in Infopackage. If somebody can guide us what caused it, we would really appreciate that.

    Hi
see if you had deletion of PSA table step in process chain which is recently removed.
its always good idea to delete older PSA table data specailly in case of full loads.

  • Cancelling PeopleSoft job if running longer than max time

We have some PeopleSoft jobs that we want Tidal to automatically cancel if they are still running after 2 hours, then automatically set the job to Completed Normally so the next job in the jobstream will start running.  We tried using a Job Event triggered by "Job running longer than its maximum time", with Selected Action = "Set To Completed Normally".  The problem is that it sets the job to completed normally on Tidal, but the job continues to run on PeopleSoft.  In other words, it's not cancelling the job.
Next, we changed the Selected Action to "Cancel/Abort".  This worked in terms of cancelling the job on PeopleSoft, but we can't figure out how to automatically set the job to Completed Normally on Tidal after the job is cancelled.  There is an Event Trigger for "Operator cancelled the job", but apparently the event isn't triggered if Tidal cancels the job.  We also tried using Event Trigger = "Job completed", but that didn't work either since apparently Tidal doesn't consider a job in Aborted status as completed.
Anyone have any other ideas on how to automatically cancel a PeopleSoft job and then automatically set the Tidal job to Completed Normally?  Thanks.

    Hello Richard,
    I would use the sacmd (windows) or the tesmcmd(Unix) to interact with the given job so to set it to whatever status you want ;
    - You have to first let the event Cancel/Abort it if running longer than expected by using the built in function (Cancel)
    - Then using the same event you need to trigger another job action that has the above tesmcmd command to set the job to Normally completed; for this you may need to create a new job that calls the tesmcmd/sacmd and then use jobset command.
now you need to create a job action that triggers that job which will allow you to override the command parameters especially the RunID of your failed job.. hope i was able to get it right unless if you already figured that out.

  • 'Late 2009' iMac running hotter than usual (Power-related)

For the past month or so, my 27" iMac (2.66 GHz i5) has been running hotter than usual (heat management has been terrible on these things for years). Using iStat Menus, I've tracked the culprit down to the power system, with the board and primary/secondary heat sinks regularly approaching 90º C (the secondary heat sink has actually hit 90º). The fans are ramping up as I would expect, but I'm a bit concerned over the frequency with which this happens. It seems like programs that, in the past, would not have taxed the CPU as much are suddenly ramping up to 100% usage, which obviously heats up the power supply. The only thing I can think of that's different is Mavericks (10.9.4). I know it has a few new bells and whistles that are supposed to use the CPU more efficiently and pull less power in the long run, but it seems like the exact opposite is happening.
Does anyone have any ideas/suggestions (short of rolling back to Snow Leopard, which I might do)? Is this a sign that the Mac is on its way out?

If the machine suddenly shuts down on its own or kernel panics, I'd be concerned.  Do not attempt to modify anything internally except ensuring the RAM is to stated to be Late 2009 iMac compatible.  Not all 1066 MHz PC3-8500 DDR3 SO-DIMMs (204-pin) RAM are alike.  http://www.crucial.com/ http://www.macsales.com/ and http://www.datamem.com/ all sell RAM by age of computer and model name.  Do not get ValueRAM.  Only get lifetime warranty RAM.

I went to back up my iPhone4 and it said there was an update.  So I clicked  on 'update and backup' (or something close to that.)  It took FOREVER...way longer than usual. When it was done, it showed the power cord w/an arrow to iTunes.  ***???  I restarted my computer and tried the whole process again and still...the power cord with an arrow to iTunes.  And I know this means I have to go to Apple and get another phone and will lose anything that wasn't backed up. Anyone else have this happen or have a solution so I don't have to do a restore???

    Reboot your computer.
    Disable your antivirus and firewall.
Connect the phone to a USB port directly on your computer, not to a hub. If your computer is not a laptop and has ports on both front and back use a port on the back.
If iTunes does not recognize the phone when you connect it see: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1808
If it STILL doesn't work open a command window and type:
       netsh winsock reset
Then try again. (It seems that a recent Microsoft Windows update may have corrupted network settings; this restores them to the factory default).
BTW, was there an error number associated with the failed update?

  • Satellite L735 taking longer than usual to start-up

My toshiba Satellite L735 was taking longer than usual to startup (more than a minute, usually takes 40 secs) gave it to the service centre, they said they updates the BIOS, optimised processor calculation, formatted it.
It was fine again, but the problem was back in less than a month, took it again, the person at the counter just reduced the unnecessary programs from the boot list, came back home to notice it was taking even longer to startup (more than 2 mins).
When i switch it on, its all fine i get the windows logo in no time, but after that a black screen appears and stays for about a minute and a half, then the homescreen appears, the windows startup sound thats supposed to play as soon as the homescreen appears plays about 40 secs aftr the homescreen has appeared.
    Please help.
    Thank you.

    Hi
The notebook seems to load the windows slowly because too many processes would be loaded at the beginning.
First of all I recommend downloading and installing the CCLeaner. This freeware tool would help you to clean the registry and to remove the garbage from the system.
Furthermore you should check your processes which would be loaded at the beginning.
Start msconfig and go to StartUp tab. Here you can disable no necessary and not important processes.
I dont know how many computer experience you have so be careful with that.
If you dont know exactly what the single process does, google for more details.
Removing a mark near the process will disable this you can enable this later too
Furthermore I would recommend checking your antivirus software I switched from Norton Antivirus to Avira Antivir software because it much faster and does not need a lot of hardware resources the Avira antivir is freeware software so you can install and use it for free.
Last but not least defragment the HDD to ensure faster data access
    Good luck

  • HT2479 In iMovie is it possible for the music track to run longer than the video?

In iMovie is it possible for the music track to run longer than the video? e.g. for there to be a short video clip playing during the intro to the song and then the song to continue to play in full once the video has finished?

Yes. Just drag your music in from iTunes or wherever and the timeline will auto increase to the full length of the music track. Like this:

  • "Connecting to the network is taking longer than usual" message after I wake my computer from sleep

Connecting wirelessly after waking computer from sleep yields the message "connecting to the network is taking longer than usual".  This only occurs after sleep, it also does not allow it to autoconnect like when starting the computer up.  All
drivers seem to be up to date and happens at more than one wireless location, home and school.  I have a windows 7 opperating system.

I just had the same problem with my HP Pavilion dv6 laptop.
I was able to resolve the problem by uninstalling my Intel Centrino Wireless Network adapter (but I did not delete the driver).  I did this by right-clicking My Computer, Manage, Device Manager, expanded the Network Adapters group, and right-click the
Wireless Network Adapter and click Uninstall.  I recommend that you reboot once this is done.
My laptop now connects to Wifi immediately after waking the laptop from sleep.
This is what finally resolved my problem. Sony Vaio with 64bit Windows 7. Wireless would sometimes take up to 3 minutes after Windows started to connect. After following these instructions, I first removed all wireless networks, then from the System Control
Panel I deleted (along with the driver) the Wireless Adapter. I then installed a fresh driver directly from the maker (not OEM).
I now connect to Wifi immediately after booting or waking from hibernation.
    Thank you

  • Background Job  running long time.

    Hello All,
One of customer background job running for long time more than 11 hours, but usually this jobs get completed within 4 hrs.
I have checked in WP trace file, it shows "WP has reached abap/heaplimit=40000000".
This is the Value I can see in RZ11. Now it is not possible to change the value.
Frequently facing this problem, please guide me to solve this issue.
    Regards
    Vinay.

    Hi
First of all, abap/heaplimit is the limit of memory usage by a WP.
Follwing is the documentation from help.sap.com
The value of the parameter should be between 10000000 (10 MB) and 2000000000 (2GB), the recommended default setting is 40000000 (40 MB).
The objective is to have the least number of work process restarts as possible, without a swap space bottleneck occurring.  The heap memory allocated by the work processes has to be released again.
As shown in the graphic, the value of abap/heaplimit should be smaller than abap/heap_area_dia or abap/heap_area_nondia, so that the dialog step that is running can still be executed. This prevents the work process from working against the operating systemu2019s swap space limit if there is a programmed termination of the work process.
So,Do the above checks. And importantly check the memory utilizations at the time of running your job and check whether any other job was also running at the sametime.
Increasing the parametes is not a good idea.. If you continuously face this issue then only think of parametes. As u said ,this problem is not happenng too often.
    Hope this is useful

  • Problem with Sales Order CIF IM-job running longer

We have CIF integratiom Model generation(RIMODGEN) and activation(RIMODAC2) jobs
    running everyday in sequence.
One of the jobs is for Sales Order Generation
and activation. The activation job used to take 30-40 seconds earlier(since last
1 year) but for the last month the job has been taking a lot of time to
complete. And that too intermittently. On some days the job completes in 30-40
seconds but on some it takes more than 3000 seconds(and still doesnt complete-
eventually we mark it successful manually to let successor jobs to start).
When we analysed the log for this job transfer in SLG1 we found out that
during activation of this Integration Model, not only Sales Orders pertaining to
new materials(that would have been added within the day between last IM
generation job and current IM generation job) were getting transferred. But
Sales orders pertaining to Materials(which have been active since a number of
days) were also getting transferred. Ideally, any changes/new Sales orders
pertaining to these older materials(which were already in an active integration
model) should have been transferred real time and should not have waited to be
transferred during the IM activation job.
We have also noticed that for
some Sales Olders(for which the materials were already active for long) and
there has been NO change in the Sales Orders are also getting transferred
    throguh our IM activation job.
The mesage that we see in the log for
these Sales Order is shown below:
    Source system:XXXXXX user: RSP100
    transaction CFM2 T_SLS 0001119 function module: /SAPAPO/CIF_XXXXX (As far as I
understand CFM2 T_SLS* prefix is for Sales Order transfer happen during IM
    activation job)
    "Customer Requirement N BM 0001223200 00010 0001: Method
    changed from N to G"
    "Customer Requirement 0001223200: Requirement adopted
    in APO"

Is the full name of the directory where you have your source code Documents and Settings as in Win2k or WinXP. In that case, move the source code to a different directory(you might like to create a separate directory). Note that the directory name should not have spaces in it. Try and see what you get.

  • PayPal to Bank Acct. Taking Longer Than Usual

I'm a new poster here who has used PayPal to receive payments and transfer them to my bank account here in Mexico for the past two years. Since I began this process, the transfers have always arrived in my bank account between 36 to 60 hours after the initial transfer request unless it was the weekend. Basically, it's always taken 24 hours for the transfer to show up as "completed" and then another 12 to 36 hours to be available at my bank depending on whether I made the initial request before or after 2:00pm local time. My latest transfer request (from PayPal to bank) was solicited Monday, August 3rd during the morning hours, meaning the funds would in the past be available to me on Wednesday. It is now Friday, and the funds still aren't there. The email I received from PayPal when making the request says that it should be available by Aug. 11th so I guess I'll have to wait until then before contacting support, but the transfers have always gone through like clockwork until this one. My PayPal account is verified and is linked, etc. Has anyone had a similar case in which transfers to a bank account are consistently successful within a short time frame and then all of the sudden a transfer is days later than usual arriving in a bank account? There's nothing different on the PayPal request nor at my bank that would cause this unusual delay as far as I can tell. Thank you in advance for your feedback.

I have tried rebooting several times in the last 3 days, but that doesn't fix my problem. My system has 4 GB memory, and it doesn't ever run out of it since I got this mac...
as for page in/out, so far, i've had 95419 page ins, and 52916 page outs.
For CPU Time, Chrome has had 7:47.83 and kernal_task has had 5:06.59 (and over 30 million sent messages).
the one thing that seems to run really high is something called 'intercheck' it has had 1:27.10 CPU Time!
the main reason for my inquiry is because I've been noticing that my battery is not lasting longer than 2 hours between charges.  Thanks for your help... I might take it into a genius bar tomorrow if we can't resolve this issue before then.

  • Background Job Running long time in Production system ???

    Hi guys,
I have custom report which runs normally in 20 minutes.  i am executing this report every day.  but when i execute the same report yesterday it took 5 hours.
i did the performance trace ....the sql statements are in acceptable range only. i don't see any major time consumption.
since it's in production system  we can't debug the active job....
can u guys, throw light on this issue.
Note : there are many posts related to this already in the forum, but not helps to resolve my issue.
    Regards
    Girish

    Giri,
You can use STAD (or older one SE30) to have a trace of the program if you have that access and will be a great help in finding the problem.
If you can't due to some reason, then next time job runs for long (while in ACTIVE state), check SM50 regularly to see that the is process hanging on a table fetch, check that any of the DB table is not getting frequent locks in SM12.
Also, you should check that if your job does any table update, is there any new index created in prod system for that table.
If you can't find anything, then take the necessary access in Prod from basis temporarily and debug the job to find exact issue.
