Hi, Laura.
There are some troubleshooting steps that we can process prior to opting for a repair. If you do have a protective film on your device make sure that is removed and test to see if the behavior persists. Below, I have attached an article that goes over some basic troubleshooting steps. After all steps are processed and the issue persists, we can service your unit at your local Apple Retail Store. You can schedule an appointment buy clicking this link http://www.apple.com/retail/.

I unlocked the iPhone From AT&T, its working well in browsering and i can hear people in calls, but people can`t hear me (even with earphones! it`s not a mic problem!!) help me please..
I had the same problem this morning. I tried reset on phone a few times. Nothing. Then I restored it from iTunes and it worked fine. This has happened to me before -- don't know the root of it, but restoring has worked so far. Good luck.

Has anyone had trouble with the LG 3 Cosmos when a call comes in; I am not able to hear from the caller, but, they can hear me? The volumn is turned up but I can't seem to resolve the issue? Thanks
Oh no, Robinbird18! This is not what we like to hear about your cell phone. It makes it pretty hard to have a conversation with someone when you can't hear them. If you make a phone call out are you able to have a conversation with someone without any issues? How long has this been going on? Have you tried to use the phone on speaker phone to see if that works at all? Please keep us posted. Thanks in advance for your help with this!!

I can't hear an incoming call, but they can hear me
I can make a call, and it connects but I can't hear the person I'm calling. They can hear me. I figured out that I can hear only if I set the call on Speaker.
I have been told that the microphone is broken so will have to go to Apple to get it fixed! Explains the problem!

I just bought iphone 5s... However, when people call me, they can't hear my voice clearly but I can hear their voice. What happen to my phone?
Do you have a case on the phone? If so, can you try a call without the case on. If not, take a look at this support document to see if anything there helps. http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1631
EDIT: You might also want to take a look at this support document too. http://support.apple.com/kb/ts5183

the other person on the phone can´t hear me any more but i can hear them. any clues please?
There might be something in the headphone jack, maybe lint, dirt, or something else in there. Try disconnecting the headphones and then adjusting the volume, does it say headphones?
If that doesn't do it, try resetting or restoring the iPhone. -
I can't hear the outgoing and incoming calls but I can hear the ringer and I was able to call using viber in my iphone 4s 16gb.
Hello sadiepix,
The following article details several things that can be done to quell iTunes' constant need for authorization.

When making a phone I can hear the other caller but they can't hear me
No one can hear me when i make I phone call but I can hear them ??? I've tried the voice memo and that seems to work fine !!! Has Any one got any ideas that could help me please ???
you need to isolate wetyher or not its a hardware issue.
make a voice memo. (if there is sound then, your bottom mic is fine.)
Make a video (if there is sound then your speaker mic is fine.)
if those dont work restore to factory settings and setu p as new, if the issue persists, setup replacement
if you have sound, try resetting your network settings. (settings general>reset>reset network setting THIS WILL DELETE ANY SAVED WIFI PASSWORDS.) -
Temporarily can't hear caller during a call, but they CAN hear me.
During a call I temporarily can't hear the caller but they CAN hear me. The sound on my end is completely dead. After 20-30 seconds the sound usually comes back. My AT&T bars are all filled up so it's not because I'm in a bad cell or coverage area. It doesn't seem to matter if I'm calling someone on their home or land line or on their cell, or if I'm calling from inside my home or when I'm out.
I called tech support a couple times and their last suggestion was that the cover I have might be interferring with the sensors in the phone somehow. The speakers are all uncovered though. I have the iSkin for the iPhone, which I really like.
I have updated my iPhone software to 2.1 and I've completely restored my phone back to the original manufacturer's settings but so far it hasn't helped. I was wondering if anyone else has had a similar experience and if you think the case may be the cause of the problem.
I have an appointment to bring my iPhone in to an Apple Store but thought I'd post this before going.
Any thoughts or recommendations would be great.
Thank you.I had the same problem and it was the thin film skin I had on the screen. There are sensors in the black area of the screen by the speaker which are affected by the plastic cover. I dropped the phone about a foot and shattered the screen the first week and decided the loss of the sensor was better than paying apple another $300 for a rebuilt phone.

When I make a call I cannot hear anyone talking. But they can hear me?
Hey there mahmoud.qaadan,
It sounds like you are making calls or receiving them but the other party cannot hear you even though the microphones work in other apps on your phone. I would start by quitting all the running apps on your device:
iOS: Force an app to close
http://support.apple.com/kb/ht5137
Double-click the Home button.
Swipe left or right until you have located the app you wish to close.
Swipe the app up to close it.
When you have done that and restart the device and test the issue again:
iOS: Turning off and on (restarting) and resetting
http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1430
If it persists, I would next backup your device to iTunes with this article:
iOS: How to back up and restore your content
http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1766
And restore it from your backup with this article:
Use iTunes to restore your iOS device to factory settings

P.S. i have read through other comments but cant see anyone that is the same..Hello Abignall,
Thanks for using Apple Support Communities.
To troubleshoot this issue with the iPhone receiver follow the steps below.
Follow these steps to resolve the issue:
Increase the volume during the call.
Make sure nothing is blocking the receiver. If you're using a protective case or display film, remove it and try again.
Make sure nothing is plugged into the headphone jack or the dock connector.
Check the receiver opening to see if it is clogged with debris. If necessary, clean it with a clean, small, dry, soft-bristled brush.
Try another location with better signal. If the audio issue happens only when on a call, it could be due to the location.
If the iPhone is paired with a Bluetooth headset or a car kit, try turning off Bluetooth on your device. Learn more about troubleshooting Bluetooth connections.
Restart the iPhone.
Make sure your device is up to date.
If the issue is not resolved, contact Apple Support.

People cannot hear me... but I can hear them
I am having a problem with my phone, when people call me, I can hear them, but they cannot hear me...any suggestions. I have restored my phone and I am still having issues.
Hello,
i have the same issue and as i can see in the internet many people have the same problem.
Since i tried to find a solution and i could not, i started observing when i had the issue and i discovered that this most probably happens due to temperature increase. I live in a hot country during the summer and the problem appeared when the temperature was high and also i had use my phone alot playing around with apps.
The problem was happening randomly but once it happened i immediately put my iphone to the refrigerator for 5 minutes and then i could make calls succesfully again.
Please try to observer yours as well in order to confirm that this is the problem

often the other party can not hear me speaking when making calls over the GSM but mic works fine for skype, recording etc -
Hey guys,
I can play music and hear it just fine, with or without headphones. When I press on the keypad I can hear the noise it makes, I can hear calls with my headphones plugged in, or when the speaker option is on, however, unless this happens, I can't hear the person I am on the phone with.
I've tried restarting, resetting, earasing all content, and restoring it with iTunes and that didn't work.
I've tried cleaning the ports with a toothbrush, or pressing gently on the microphone and that didn't work.
I've tried calling with the headphone on, and taking them off in the middle of the call and that didn't work either.
I am currently outside of the US so I can't go to an Apple store, so I am wondering if any of you guys have been succesful at solving this problem. Your help is much appreciated
Thanks again,If you can listen to the other person on loud speaker, means your earpeice got damaged.
If you have warranty (1 year is basic, upto 3yrs if you bought an extended apple care), you can take your iphone to any apple store in the world for a free repair, yes, apple warranties are international.
But usually they replace it with another new phone.
So make sure you update your phone and backup everything on your itunes.
Even if you're ot of warranty, you can get it fixed from apple by paying extra.
For now you have to use headphone or loud speaker
Goodluck

Every attempt to install iTunes upgrades since 0.1.0.79 has failed. It was suggested to download and install manually. This also fails. Any thoughts or suggestions appreciated. ken
