K8n plat SOUND STATIC

-HEADPHONES. DIRECT FROM ONBOARD SOUND. I GET ALOT OF STATIC IT SEEMS TO INCREASE WITH CPU WORKLOAD.
if i use "optical" to receiver and run headphones off that i dont get any background static.
but this static is very loud and noticeable. unless im /music/movies/games kinda loud.
im using the latest realtek drivers. ive tried both msi and direct from realtek website. anone have any suggestions???? the whining static gets more annoying with each passing day.

Excuse me but the latest ALC drivers is found on realtek.com.tw
and their current release is A3.66 .

MSI -ALC650.ZIP is A3.60 (and is just a 1:1 copy of realtek's , checked this with binary comparsion some while ago)

I just built a new computer with a k8n plat nforce 3

the problem is i downloaded the most up to date realtek driver from the realtek site and the sounds were very low even with all my volumes maxed out and my sound manager maxed out, i tried uninstalling and using nvidia drivers and same problem. Any help would be greatly appreciated i spent all my money making this new computer and i cant afford to buy a new sound card please help

I have made a comparison to the neo with 5.1 headphones:
MUSIC LISTENING:
Gigabyte - "I also listened to some techno with a lot of bass and with all the songs I listened to the bass had good kick to it and didn't drown out the mids or highs. I continued listening to more songs from different genres and couldn't find a thing that made these headphones sound bad."
Neo - Little bass - very tinny (same with stereo headphones)
GAMING:
Gigabyte - "The quality produced from the 40mm drivers was exceptional clear and crisp. The bass, mids, and highs were all high quality and didn't lack a thing."
Neo - No subwoofer, barely audible center, rear left and rear right (heavily distorted bass and overall lack of volume with stereo headphones)
KT400(ALC650) - Turn the volume down before this kickin bass makes my head cave in!
DVD:
Gigabyte - "As soon as the movie started playing I was amazed with the quality of the audio. The quality was almost equal to that of being in a theater, all packed into headphones. I was able to hear every little detail from the DVD and enjoyed it even more than on a regular set of speakers."
Neo - No subwoofer, barely audible center, rear left and rear right (overall lack of volume with stereo headphones) - basically you cant understand anything that is being said - it is quieter than a whisper.
Both ALC850, both NVIDIA Nforce3 250GB. Proof that other manufacturers got it right with ALC850.
I can only ask, that everyone with the slightest sound problem pesters MSI about it, to force them to look at their implementation, as they dont read these forums.

MSI K8N Plat SLI Audio Problems

i just built my system and i am wondering what to do about the onboard audio. i have a old set of speakers from gateway that include a subwoofer and 2 front speakers that are digital i believe. i plug them into the yellow spdif out coaxial hole (speaker plug dosent go in all the way) and i would get a lot of crackling and distortion so i took it out, i tried all teh other onboard audio and nothing works. i checked the digital output only option and unchecked it and nothing changes. now when i plug teh speakers in nothing works no sounds nothing. anybody else have these issues? im thinking about buying a sound card what do you guys think? ithough the soundblaster was supposed to be something great whats up with this? ive read a lot of issues regarding the onboard sound but cant seem to find ananswer.

you are correct sir! i did some more research with different keywords after i posted my last post and realized that i needed a 1/8" stereo to RCA converter, so i hopped over to radio shack and purchased the little connector for 4 bucks and plugeed it in and walla. Thanks for the help though.
also to the guy with the link to the front case connections, thanks for the suggestion, i had all of my audio ports connected so that wasnt an issue, but thanks for pointing that out.

Try to upgrade to 1.4 and see it for yourself, do the upgrade with floppy in DOS so that you can save your old Bios.
I would rather wait till mid June when a less troublesome new bios is suppose to be availabe for NEO4 MBs.

I have NorthQ Giant UFO cooler attached to CPU. I would like to have as fast system as possible but remain on the safe side - a 100% stable system.... I know default would be safe enough but wouldn't use the potential of the CPU, I gues....

Sound static when moving around in gChrome and firefox

Maybe you guys can help me. I have this strange problem with my sound when I switch/ move around ( open new tabs, scroll up and down in a window) in internet browsers (worst in chrome). I sometimes hear it when I am playing music ( in winamp, windows media ) and WoW at the same time but mainly in the browsers. It sounds like a crackling static sound from my speakers. A few times my music was slowed.
I updated all my drivers for everything! All connections are secure and tested by turning them and making sure they are in the jacks.
Any idea what could be causing this?

I'm a bit doubtful about your power supply, but... Are you sure the sounds does'nt come from it ?
The Vcore thing, just try another setting than "auto" for CPU (between 1,20V and 1,35V for exemple, the lower the better if otherwise stable), to see if the sounds disappears or not.

Sound static...

Hello. After hooking up my ipod to my stereo, it has now begun to have muffled sound and static noises when the wire is twisted. It is not a bent headphone pin issue as there was no trauna to induce such. Could I have a fried sound processor, or something of the like?

The only problem is I don't have a big enough computer hard drive to copy all of my ipod's songs onto. Is it possible to use this :http://www.sendstation.com/us/products/pocketdock/lineout-usb.html

Why is my movie sounding static

Every time I try to play a movie the audio is all static! Why and how do I fix it? This is a brand new hp touch screen laptop it should have good sound quality!

Reboot the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider if it appears on the screen - let go of the buttons. Let the iPad start up.
If that doesn't help, reset all settings. Settings>General>Reset All Settings. you will have to enter all of the device settings again, but you will not lose any data.

Msi k8n plat __windows 64 issue?

i really goofed up
i installed windows 64 on my new build msi k8n neop plat system is stable but i dont have any of my drivers on board i got abfg 6800nu
thats running off the display vga adapters dont have any of my utilities installed says it not compatible!!!!
how the hell can you make a 64 board and the drivers not compatible 4 it?
cant enjoy my 250gb lan cant use my 6800 like its ment my audio drivers caint kickit and whats worse is i dont know how to get this premature os off my system!!!!

Win64 is for trying only : you may get BSOD, there is a lot of of missing drivers : it's the game.
If want to have a normal use of your computer, you must install WinXP....

Speaker sound static

okay so i was doing a little hardware upgrade on my hp dc 5750 tower (putting new dvd writer and a hardisk) and when i finished what i was doing i touched with my screwdriver the point where the speaker is connected with the red and black cables and it started 2 make these weird static noises i thought it was a onetime thing but its on for 2 days nows and its really annoying and also when i plug in my earphones they work fine so anyone with a suggestion of how i can put off that annoying sounds

Can you clarify? Which speaker? Is this an external speaker set? Did you short-out a discrete sound card?

Music sounds static when played through headphones or speakers

i have had my ipod for a while now and it worked fine. However whenever i play through headphones or speakers the music goes to what sounds like static, i would like to know how to fix this problem and if i cant how much will it cost to have apple fix it for me.

Update - I've isolated this (I think) to be something that happens when Microsoft Outlook for Mac 2011 is open. Exiting the app stops the noise.
But still con't find out why it happens or any setting to stop it.

Ipad sounds static or muffled

My ipad sounds awful. The sound comes through like static or really muffled.

Try resetting the device by holding the power and home keys down until the Apple logo appears.

K8N Diamond - sound from PCTV media center 300i

I have the following mainboard: K8N Diamond (NVIDIA, nFORCE, 4 SLI Chipset Based) - which I am very happy with.
I am watching TV on my PC using: PCTV Media Center 300i.
I have not yet found a way to hear the sound from the TV. There is an internal audio cable (4-pin) from the PCTV card which should be connected to the sound card. But I do not where to connect on the mainboard.
Can anyone help ?

I'm not sure as I don't have anything plugged in on JCD1, everything is working for me without this cable. Of course at the moment, I don't have a TV card either.

Alright. So yesterday I updated the bios fro my board from 1.6 to 1.9, as well as all sound drivers. No sooner did I do that did I notice a constant static sound when hearing any audio. I use a Razer Megalodon headset, and have never experienced this problem until I updated. The drivers for the Megalodons are up to date as well. I've tired all USB ports on my system, and still no change. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

I had the same issue, I bought the Razer Megalodon headset myself, with the same motherboard only problem is my bios was version 1.12.
I re-rolled it back to 1.6 as they said and thanks to you guys I have got my problem solved as well.. after months of communication with HORRIBLE Customer service of razer.

I know this has been said BUT K8N plat won't post

I am at my wits end with this damn thing. I have installed a ton of PCs and never as much trouble as I have with this AMD64 3000. First I ordered it with the Chaintech 150 board after reading great reviews on it. That was my mistake for not looking at the forums to see what the real users say.
OK after RMAing the board back and forth and getting jack I gave up on it, set it aside and got the MSI K8N. Installed it with the things below only and actually got the power to stay on only to lock on keyboard and not post.
I then read everything I could find in forums and tried everything that was suggested on top of what is the usual steps and got squat. I am wondering now if the board is bad and I need to RMA it. Has anyone found a fix to this post problem as I see a lot of people have had it. I can tell you that my board is not shorted out, I tried other ram and am convinced that is not the problem. Went and bought a new USB keyboard I did not need and still crapo. God what I would not do to see a bios screen or even a post!
Any other suggestions? If I RMA this and get the same damn problem I swear I am going to start looking for my chainsaw!
2 months and counting while Doom3 sits unopen!

OK I tried moving the SATA connect to all the other 3 plus I moved the mem. I think now I have tried about every combo with the mem and have had no luck.
One thing that I didn't mention as I thought it was part of how this mobo sets up, but as soon as I plug in the power cable and turn on the PS the PC powers up. I then can control it via the power switch., but if I unplug it then it will repower as soon as the plug is reinserted.
I let iit sit in this error state for quite some time also and it doesnt appear to be a heat issue. There has to be something simple that I either did wrong or am missing. I have read a lot of post of people with this exact same problem and now I am getting emails of more having the problem and asking me to let them know what worked. It would have to have been a really bad Monday at MSI for this many boards to be faulty(and that is humor as I think it has to be something I am missing).
Oh and the Chaintech board would powerup for a split second then shut off. It never made it near a post . Read someplace that Corsair mem would not work with the Chaintech (plus many others) and decided to switch to the mobo choice most forum people were suggesting for a AMD64.
I appreciate all the suggestions.
