Hi
I am using one calculation profile in kanban calculation
i have lead time of 4 days and this material is having dependent requirement of 3000 pcs
after using pk07 it is giving me proposal of maximum no of kanban
but i am not able to understand on wt basis it has done this calculation , i mean what and how exactly it is doing this ??
i understand formula given but how it is done ??
Please help me in this regard

  • Independent requirement for KANBAN Calculation

    Hi all guru,
Now i can use kanban caculation for Semi-FG (it use dependent requirement for calculate) and i want to calculate FG too! but i don't know how to configure to use independent requirement (forecast) for automatic kanban calculation. who expert know please explain to me?
    Thank you in advance...

Kanban Calculation takes place for requirements at a control cycle
level, specifically at a supply area level. The kanban calculation can
therefore be only carried out for dependent requirements that refer to a
supply area. This supply area is usually assigned to the BOM item but
also can be defined in production version or material master.
    Please refer the following documentation:
    SAP R/3 Enterprise Application Components
      Logistics
        Production Planning and Control (PP)
          PP KANBAN
            PP - KANBAN
              Automatic Kanban Calculation
Calculating Depndt Reqmts for Automatic Kanban Calculation
I am afraid, independent requirements(PIRs in MD61) entered and also
sales order requirements can only be tracked at a plant level, and hence
cannot be included for Kanban calculation. On the same lines the
dependent requirements that are defined only at a storage location level
    are also not included!
In fact KANBAN scenario is suitable for the business where the
procurement need not be planned well in advance, all procurement can be
initiated at any time once KANBAN is empty. This is the most important
characteristic of KANBAN. The introduction of PIRs into this scheme
contradicts this very objective of 'avoiding' lead times in planning.
This is also the reason why KANBAN calculation is more appropriate for
dependent requirements from supply area, characteristic of most
automotive industries, where make-to-stock planning happens mostly at
higher Sub-assembly levels and not at component levels.
Kanban is more relevant to only one subset of MRP requirement elements
    i.e, the Dependent requirements.
Also, incase you want to include all storage locations / supply areas
in the plant for the control cycle in question, then in PK02, for the
said control cycle , under Kanban calculation tab, click on "Additional
Requirements Button" and enter the plant (without the storage
location/supply area). In this case, the automatic kanban calculates all
the dependent requirements in the plant.
In automotive releases we have the BADI MPKC_REQ_SELECTION
hooked in the function module PK_READ_DEPENDENT_REQUIREMENTS.
Customers, who want additional requirements such as the ones from APO to
be included for calculation, can program here.
Production Supply area is the key for the requirements to match with the
control cycle. Hope I have clarified your query.

  • Automatic KANBAN quantity calculation requirement -reg

    Hi,
As of now we enter  no.of KANBANS and KANBAN quantity  while creating control cycles for the material to be operated through KANBAN. The KANBAN quantity is decided at user level and updated  which is causing many discrepencies .
the requirement is can system calculate the KANBAN quantity automatically driven from the requirement calculated based on finished products PIR quantity ?
    1. is it possible  that when MRP runs for the finished product  system calculated the KANBAN quantity for those BOM items of the Finished products which are marked as relevant for KANBAN.
    2. if it is possible then what and all settings and other things required ?
    3. any side effects?
    please provide some inputs
    regards,
    madhu kiran.

    Hi,
Pls. find inputs for respective queries as below :
    1. Yes it is possible with using Kanban with MRP , pls go through the following link for details about Kanban with MRP :

3.There are no side effects of automatic kanban calculation because It is Std Functionality given by SAP.
Hope this helps resolve your issues.

  • Kanban Formula Doubt

    Gurus
I am trying to see the output of Kanban Calculation Formula. In Control cycle its mandatory to keep kanbans and there quantity
I put 10 kanbans and 10 pieces per kanban. I have requirements for 50 also and i run PK07 using inputs from MRP. But when i check the output in PK08; still system shows 10 kanbans and 10 pieces
Where did formula work? I mean i was expecting a different figure i.e. 5 kanbans b'cos 5 * 10 = 50 but not sure how does formula calcualte?
Will it update the quantity automatically in control cycle?? Please advise
    Regards

    Hi,
Hope you have set the following:
Pl. check, whether you are using Classic or event - driven, in case if you are using event - driven, check whether you are using fixed kanban qty. Also check the rounding qty.
    Pl. check the calculation profile.
Refer the following link for better explanation.

  • Satrt User exit in PK13N when more then  1 kanban is put to Empty

The user exit is used in our SAP to generrate an email to the supplier when we put a certain kanban to empty. This functions. But you can also select 2 kanbans and the use the button 'put on empty'  Then this user-exit is only started ones and we only send 1 email then. How can we force SAP to start this user-exit for every selected kanban ?

    Dear,
    Please try the
MPKC0001 User exit for kanban calculation.
Or Badi MPKC_REQ_SELECTION BAdI for Requirements Selection for Kanban Calculation

  • Kanban Process

    Hi Expert,
The current process is a mess, we have demands for lots of items and they are creating a false load in the machine shop. The orders required through the product cell this week account for 550 hours this week, even though I can only produce 150 hours a week in this area. I have tried to address this by moving the orders using the planning screens but it seems to create/move other orders to fulfil the higher level requirements making the situation look worse. The basic process is as follows u2013
      1.       Check stock levels on kanban rack 3-4 times weekly
      2.       Raise orders where stock levels are below the desired quantity
      3.       Produce components
      4.       Place finished components on kanban rack
      5.       Book time and close order when quantity produced
Given there are demands for other components as well as these components I have also tried to move the demands using CM25 to level the load.
    Waiting for the Reply>.
    Thanks
    Babar.

Do not quite understand what you tried to achieve.
For KANBAN processes, the planning (push) is kept to minimum.  Instead it is based on KANBAN impulse or signal that generated in the production line in the pull manner.
For example, you calculate the number of KANBAN based on demand and safety factor (built-in deman fluctuation).  When empty (FG kanban rack is pulled out) , create production orders.  When produced, give full signal and received the stock.  The confirmation can happen later.
If your component is not KANBAN controlled, you must plan based on MRP.  The capacity overflow in your case (if it is at component level) may be caused by incorrect number of KANBAN calculated.
Maybe it is helpful for us to depict the process in more detail.  Give example, and describe what are the problems.

    Hi,
You will have to go in SPRO and tick the "ENHANCEMENT" option.
only then it will go to user-exits.
Please ask your Functional Consultanat to do it.
Let me know if you need the complete path for that.

  • Kan ban

    Hello Friends,
I am new for the Kanban.
I want to learn the same how can i start with SAP same thing?
    Maulik

    These are the important transactions:
    PKMC - Control Cycle maintenance
    PK07/PK08- Create & Check proposal
    PK52 - Display error log
    PK23 - Event-driven Kanban(most commonly used)
    PK41 - Backflush
In customising, some of the key transactions are:
OM14- Define Number Range for Control Cycle
OM18 - Define Number Range for Kanban ID Number(used in case Barcode exists)
Define Control Cycles Display in the Kanban Board
Define automatic kanban calculation and scheduling
    Define replenishment strategies
    Thanks,
    Anil

  • SUPPLY AREA  & Controlling Cycle

    Hello,
I am working with PP REM scenario.
I want to know more about the customizing and master data and Function of following terms.
    1. SUPPLY AREA
    And
    2.  Controlling Cycle
    Maulik

    Dear Maulik,
    Dear Maulik,
The Master data required for Kanban production control includes
1.Supply Area:A supply area is an interim storage location on the shop floor which is used to provide material directly to the
production line or the work center.
The supply area can be a shelving area, an area marked off on the ground, special boxes and so on. Defining the supply areas
for a plant is part of the material flow design for KANBAN. The supply area is defined in Customizing and is assigned the following
    objects:
    Plant
    Storage location
    Person responsible
Goods movements are posted to the storage location assigned to the supply area.
One storage location can be assigned to several supply areas, however, one supply area cannot be assigned to several storage locations.
2.Control Cycle: The control cycle defines the relationship between the demand source and the supply source.
The control cycle contains the following control data for KANBAN production:
    ●     Kanban circulation, that is, the number of kanbans and the quantity per kanban or per call item as well as the number of load carriers
    ●     The basic data required for automatic kanban calculation, if necessary
    ●     Replenishment strategy
    ●     Printing kanbans, if necessary
    ●     The delivery address, if necessary
3.Replenishment Stragegy: The replenishment strategies define in the control cycle how replenishment is to take place:
    Using in-house production
    Using external procurement
    Using stock transfer
The replenishment strategies also determine whether and which replenishment elements (run schedule quantities, production orders, and so on) are created by the kanban signal.
The replenishment strategy is assigned to the material in the control cycle.
1.You can create the supply area by executing PK05
2.Control cyce can be created using PK01.

  • PK07 T Code

    Gurus
How does PK07 T Code give KANBAN Calculation?? I mean what is the difference between this and what we enter in PK01. In PK01 also we enter number of kanbans & kanban quantity viz manually but how does PK07 give the output?
I am bit confused as on what basis system is generating kanban calculations???
Please give your comment & correct me if i am wrong at any point
    Rgds

    Dear Vicky,
    The basic difference between PK01 & PK07 is :
PK01 : Tcode used for simply creation of KANBAN Control Cycle which you can say same functionality as in case of PKMC ( Control Cycle Maintanance). The main thing here is you can simply create control cycle with no. of Kanban bin, kanban qty, replenishment strategy. However, you can;t involve MRP & LTP data in case of PK01 or even in PKMC.
PK07: This Tcode is used for creating change control cycles in order to facilitate MRP & LTP data in calculation of control cycles which is not possible in case of PK01/ PKMC.
In short, we can say that PK07 provides more depth / drilldown in control cycle evaluation which is not available with PK01 / PKMC.
Hope this helps clear your doubt.

    Tejas

  • Min and Max quantity in PK08?

    Hi,

It is really urgent and any inputs would be much appreciated.
how does the system takes lot size in to consideration while automatic kanban calculation.

  • Kanban barcode

    Hi,
I have a problem with barcode kanban.
I would like to create a production order  through Barcode kanban.
I get this error "No control cycle or kanban could be determined for the data specified"
what can I do to customise the system so that it's work.
    thanks
    Derval

    Hi Dade,
For Kanban u have to create the control cycle and all other kanban settinngs like supply area, demand area, supply cle ,demand cycle.
Control cycle is one of the master data for KANBAN along with supply area and replinesment strategy. In control cycle you will define the calculation and the replinsment stretegy for the material
Supply source view ( PK12N) and you can see the container here with emty status which trigers the procurement or in MD04 for the replenishment elements like Planned orders or stock transport order or schedule lines according to you configuration of replenishment strategy in the control cycle
Please go through the link for more details,
