Keep messages not working

My keep messages setting doesn't seem to be working - I have it set to 6 months and I have emails older than that which are not being automatically removed (I have checked +/-2months). I have had the current device since Oct 09 and unsaved messages start July 09 that were brought over when I switched devices. I changed the setting from forever to 6 months about a month ago, early December of 09 and I still see all unsaved emails from July onwards.
While I still have plenty of free space, the device is getting sluggish (keep getting the black spinning clock) - ordinarily I would use delete prior but I have recently discovered that the behavior of delete prior is different from the auto clean up - delete prior removes saved emails from their respective folders and just keeps a copy in the saved messages folder, while auto cleanup keeps them filed correctly.
I initially had the keep messages set to Forever - I tried changing the setting to 5 months, 6months, etc, giving it a few days, but no difference - old unsaved messages are still there. I tried updating the core software using BB Desktop - no difference.
Can anyone provide details on how the functionality is supposed to work, ie if today is Jan 26 and the setting is 6 months, as of what date should emails be removed - Jul 26?
I would really appreciate any suggestions on how to proceed/test the issue. I would prefer to avoid a wipe and restore since I am not entirely clear on how to keep my messages, 3rd party apps, and most importantly, the BES activation in case of a wipe and would like to avoid involving my IT department.
I have a BB tour 9630 BES version 4.1.7.57
Thank you in advance!

Quite honestly, I think that is exactly where you need to turn. It is their device and their BES, and they may very well have some setting on the BES overriding your device setting.

Bug: #2621264 Small messages not working with NIO-HTTP endpoints in LCSD/trunk.
    QA: Yes
    Doc: No
    Checkintests: Pass
Details: This is the BlazeDS side of the fix. This wasn't a regression, it probably never worked correctly. So, in the scenario where there's a Producer and a Consumer, and Producer sends a message for the Consumer, there are 2 messages from the server. The ACK message for Producer's send, and the actual message Consumer receives. I found that the ACK message was in small form, but the actual message was not in streaming messages. This was because we never really tried to convert streamed messages into small messages before.

Updated my iPad Air to ios7.1. Messaging not working. Suggestions????

What happens when you try? Getting an error message?
Try this  - Reset the iPad by holding down on the Sleep and Home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons. (This is equivalent to rebooting your computer.) No data/files will be erased. http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1430

  • IOS Group Messaging not working when Android phones are involved

Group Messaging not working for me when there are both Iphones and Androids involved. iPhones still using iOS 7 don't seem to be having problems leading me to believe this is an iOS 8 problem. Is there a workaround for this yet, or is this a legitimate bug fix that Apple will have to address?

    Hey geoff_zen,
Thanks for the question. After reviewing your post, it sounds like you arr having trouble with group messages. I would recommend that you read this article, it may be able to help you resolve or isolate the issue.
    iOS: Troubleshooting Messages
To resolve issues with sending and receiving iMessages, follow these steps
Check iMessage system status for current service issues.
Go to Settings > Messages > Send & Receive and make sure that you registered iMessage with your phone number or Apple ID and that you selected iMessage for use. If the phone number or Apple ID isn't available for use, troubleshoot iMessage registration.
Open Safari and navigate to www.apple.com to verify data connectivity. If a data connection isn't available, troubleshoot cellular data or a Wi-Fi connection.
iMessage over cellular data might not be available while you're on a call. Only 3G and faster GSM networks support simultaneous data and voice calls. Learn which network your phone supports. If your network doesn't support simultaneous data and voice calls, go to Settings > Wi-Fi and turn Wi-Fi on to use iMessage while you're on a call.
    Restart your device.
Tap Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings on your iPhone.
If you still can't send or receive an iMessage, follow these steps
Make sure that the contact trying to message you isn't blocked in Settings > Messages > Blocked.
Make sure that the contact you're trying to send a message to is registered with iMessage.
If the issue occurs with a specific contact or contacts, back up or forward important messages and delete your current messaging threads with the contact. Create a new message to the contact and try again.
If the issue occurs with a specific contact or contacts, delete and recreate the contact in the Contacts app. Create a new message to the newly created contact and try again.
Back up and restore your device as new.
Thanks for using Apple Support Communities.
    Have a nice day,
    Mario

  • E7 Nokia Messaging not working after anna update

    hi
nokia messaging not working after anna update. when i
    -choose provider (hotmail/gmail/yahoo...etc)
    -enter username & password
    -click OK to T&C
-get error message: "cannot enable this service on the device"
    any ideas?

I'm having a similar issue. It appears to only impact Hotmail accounts. For me though, this happened without updating the OS. The email client is simply failing to connect to the Hotmail interface. Only two possibilities, either Microsoft changed something on the email gateway or Nokia changed something on their end. Either way, it's not working and has been out of commission for the past week. If this is how corporate friends get along, I'd hate to see what happens in a adversarial relationship.

  • Group Message not working iPhone 6/ iOS 8

I am not able to receive group messages after I updated to iOS 8.0.2  I just activated my iPhone 6 about 3 weeks ago (Before the Apple pay update). It was working fine until I updated the software with the Apple Pay. Initially I thought ALL the group messages are not working. After few trials I realized it was only the case when the group included both iPhone and non-iPhone users. Groups with ALL iPhone users is working fine.
I have checked everything possible, but nothing works.
    - Turned off-on iMessages
    - Turned off-on Group messages
    - Reset Network Setting
    - Erased and Reset the Entire phone from Phone settings (Now operating on iOS8.1)- still not working
    - Called my carrier and they didn't seem to understand why I was having this problem
I then spoke with Apple Support who ran few diagnostic tests and they didn't find anything. They suggested that I re-set the phone to brand new phone (with out iCloud back-up) via iTunes (not from phone settings) and see if that will fix this. I will try this later tonight and see if I have any luck.
I tried telling customer service that I want to return my phone and get a new one- but they seemed to keep me away from that option.
Has anyone else experienced this? If so, any suggestions?

  • Messages not working on Yosemite

So I've read through all the threads and everything and I can't figure out how to fix this problem.
My messages are not being delivered. Every time I send a message I receive a Not Delivered with an exclamation point.
I've deleted all the com.apple.ichat* message* and madd* files as instructed in previous threads.
It gave me a clean install for Messages but still doesn't work.
After restarting my computer I had to set up Messages again but still doesn't work.
When I sign in as a guest it works fine but not when I sign in my own account.
    Please advise.

    Back up all data.
Quit Messages if it’s running. Force quit if necessary. Relaunch it and test after each of the following steps. If the problem isn't resolved, quit again and go on to the next step.
    Step 1
Make sure you know the ID and password you use with iMessage. Launch the Keychain Access application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Keychain Access in the icon grid.
Select the login keychain from the list on the left side of the Keychain Access window. If your default keychain has a different name, select that.
If the lock icon in the top left corner of the window shows that the keychain is locked, click to unlock it. You'll be prompted for the keychain password, which is the same as your login password, unless you've changed it.
Right-click or control-click the login entry in the list. From the menu that pops up, select
              Change Settings for Keychain "login"
In the sheet that opens, uncheck both boxes, if not already unchecked.
    From the menu bar, select
Keychain Access ▹ Preferences ▹ First Aid
    If the box marked
              Keep login keychain unlocked
    is not checked, check it.
    Select
Keychain Access ▹ Keychain First Aid
from the menu bar and repair the keychain.
From the Category list in the lower left corner of the window, select My Certificates. Look carefully at the list of certificates in the right side of the window. If any of them is marked with a red "X" as expired or invalid, delete it. Also delete all items with "iMessage" or "com.apple.idms" in the name, whether valid or not.
    From the menu bar, select
Keychain Access ▹ Preferences... ▹ Certificates
There are three menus in the window. Change the selection in the top two to Best attempt, and in the bottom one to  CRL.
Log out and log back in.
    Step 2
Hold down the option key and select
              Go ▹ Library
from the Finder menu bar. Move the following items from the Library folder to the Trash (some may not exist):
              Containers/com.apple.corerecents.recentsd
              Caches/com.apple.Messages
              Caches/com.apple.imfoundation.IMRemoteURLConnectionAgent
              Containers/com.apple.iChat
              Containers/com.apple.soagent
              IdentityServices
Leave the Library folder open. Log out and log back in.
    Step 3
Go back to the Finder and move the following item from the open Library folder to the Desktop:
              Messages
Note: you are not moving the Messages application. You’re moving a folder named “Messages.”
If Messages now works, delete the Messages folder on the Desktop. Otherwise, quit Messages again. Put back the folder you moved, overwriting the newer one that may have been created in its place.
    Step 4
In the Preferences subfolder, there may be several files having names that begin with any of the following strings:
              com.apple.iChat
              com.apple.ids
              com.apple.imdsmsrecordstore
              com.apple.imessage
              com.apple.imservice
Move them all to the Desktop. There may also be a file with the name "com.apple.imagent.plist". Move that to the Trash.
Also in the Preferences folder, there's a subfolder named "ByHost". Open it and do the same thing.
Log out and log back in. Test again. This time Messages should perform normally, but your settings will be lost. You may be able to put back some of the files you moved to the Desktop in this step. Relaunch and test after each one. Eventually you should find one or more that causes Messages to malfunction. Delete those files and recreate whatever settings they contained.
If the issue is still not resolved, quit Messages again and put all the items you moved to the Desktop back where they were. You don’t need to replace the items you moved to the Trash. Stop here and post your results.
If you later decide that you don’t like the results of Steps 3 and 4, you can undo them completely by quitting Messages and restoring the items you deleted in those steps from your backup.

  • Text messaging not working on my BB curve 8530

My husband is on the same plan as me, but he has an android phone. I can send and receive text messages from him and myself, however, I can not send or receive text messages from anyone else. I've taken the battery out, updated my phone profile through the blackberry network and don't several other trouble shooting methods.
When I send a text it says that it goes through. When I got my phone I started texting my friends and family and received no response, thinking that everyone was just busy. When I talked to them later they said they never received anything and like wise, they sent me texts that I had not received as well.
I'm on Virgin Mobile and have called them several times now. The first person said that it should be working in 2-4 hours and that he would call me back. 4 hours later, It was not only still not working, but he had never called me back. The next person I called had me do all the trouble shooting that I had already done and then he told me it should be working in an hour. Three hours later it was still not working so I called again, this time I spoke to a lady that had me do all the trouble shooting again and said that she fixed it.. over the phone I texted google to be sure, and sure enough .. STILL DID NOT WORK. She said "oh.. well.. you need to talk to one of our blackberry specialists". After forwarding me to someone, he had me trouble shoot again... He said it should be working in 30-72 hours and that it was a problem with the blackberry network. I'm not sure I should wait 72 hours for it to work... especially when in the past they haven't called me back.
1.) I can still make phone calls
2.) I can text my husband and can receive texts from him
3.) I can access the internet and download and upload files
There is no indication on my phone that the texts are not going through, I get that little check mark by my text messages and everything looks normal.
Is this a simple fix? Is everyone experiencing this problem?

    Hello !
Do you have activated BlackBerry Internet Service (BIS) Plan on your device?
Kindly check with your service provider.
And if it is activated, then does your plan cover to use any other messenger like Yahoo, Gtalk etc or not.
    Hope this resolves your Problem!
If your problem has been resolved then would request you to Click on "Like" and accept as "Solution" so that other Advisors doesnt invest there time on this Message anymore.

  • Messages not working after 10.9.2 upgrade - XPCIMDMessageStoreSendXPCMessage fails

I have upgraded five machines to 10.9.2, but one of them has run into a persistent problem with messages.
On startup, I get a Message that an internal error has ocurred and asks me to relaunch. After that the window comes up and the acount window shows me logged in, but the history is not updated and new messages take forever to deliver or do not go through at all. They usually do not update on the local display.
The console log shows lot of failures like these:
    - 2/27/14 6:33:44.954 PM imagent[371]: [Warning] __XPCIMDMessageStoreSendXPCMessage failed too many times...bailing!
I have set up another account and tried logging in from it, but it shows the same behavior.
The firewall is off, certificate seem to be fine. When I log out and back in, the other systems devices get all the nag messages about the system and numbers being added, so it is communicating with the server. But messages are not coming through.
I have cleared all preferences and caches, but the behavior does not change.
I have reverted the system to 10.9 by installing over it. Messages immediately works fine (same preferences etc.) Everything works great, but I'd rather not live with the SSL bug.
I have upgraded using the Combo Update and another time using the App Store. The behavior stays the same.
The other four machines and my 4 iOS devices are all working as expected.
Does anybody have any ideas? My family and friends use Messages a lot, so I need it on my main machine.
    Thanks,
    -- Harald

    Hi,
    I will presume again then.
I would also try these one at a time.  Doing it this way is less invasive than doing them altogether.
The Console Message looks more like it belongs to an iMessage sending than an AIM, Jabber or Yahoo ones.
In this case I would try deleting com.apple.imessages.bag.plist
This is not the Account info for iMessages but it is the server the app (and IMAgent) connect to.
If that does not work I would try the iMessages account one (com.apple.ids.service.com.apple.madrid.plist)
This is the one in use in Mavericks.
You may still have the Mountain Lion one present (com.apple.imservice.iMessage.plist)
You could try using Activity Monitor to Force Quit IMAgent but you first need to turn Off FaceTime even if it is not open (IMAgent does it's "Listening" as well as for the Messages app.
It goes without saying the Messages app should also be Quit.
I would again restart the computer when Quit the IMAgent app.

  • Group Messages Not Working between Android and iPhone Users on iOS7

    Hi there,
I am a former iPhone user.  I recently converted both my line and my wife's line from the IPhone 5 to a Motorola X Android phone.  We kept our same phone numbers, but we completely switched from Verizon to AT&T.  I have noticed that text messaging works perfectly on an individual basis when I correspond with individuals who have the iPhone, but Group Messaging is not working correctly.  I am able to send messages to a group and they receive them just fine, but when they respond back to me, I do not receive their responses (as it appears they are going through as iMessages).  My wife is having the same issue on her phone.  After doing some detective work, I have found that hundreds of other users are having the same issues on their smartphones when they make the switch from an Apple product to an Android phone.  There are a variety of "bug fixes" listed on the web, but I have completed all of them and I am still having the same issue.  Here is what I have done so far...
*Factory reset both of our phones and removed the SIM cards (since we are with a new phone carrier)
*Changed both of our apple ID passwords
*Removed both of our phone numbers from Apple's database all together
*Unregistered both of our iPhone products with Apple
*Had all of my friends/family switch SMS to "On" in their Settings tab
So now what?  I read one post on an Apple forum that said that they are aware of the issue and we can expect a fix in a future iOS update...but when is that going to occur, if at all?  It is problems like these that led me to leave Apple all together, and here I am after having left the company, and I am still left high and dry searching for solutions to my problems.  Who can help, and how can I remedy the situation?
Anything you can provide to help out would be great.
    Thanks.

There are reports of iOS7 altering the settings on iMessage's connection to the iPhone. Verify that each of the iPhone and the Mac is receiving on the "channel" (phone number or email address) on which the other is initiating iMessages.

  • Text Messaging Not Working

    Salient points:
I'm using a brand new Droid Pro. This phone was provided by ProtectCell after my two-month-old phone experienced a cracked display. It is new, not factory refurbished. My service was working perfectly on my imperfect other phone. (Texts were being received and sent with no problems, it was reading them that was a problem, due to the faulty display.) I took the new phone to the Verizon Wireless store to have it activated and my contacts transferred. I have not been able to send or receive text messages on the new phone. I tried restarting the phone, then removing the battery, and when those didn't work I called customer service and was told there were no network issues in the area, and that my plan correctly showed unlimited texting. They were unable to transfer me to Technical Support because I had no other device on which to speak while troubleshooting. I was advised to try *228 in case of a programming error. That didn't work. I have made sure that my phone is running the most recent updates. I've even downloaded Handcent in case it was an issue with the included software, but it seems SMS is not working at all on this phone. I've verified that people are unable to send text messages to me, and that I am still able to call out and receive calls, so I know that the SMS is the only affected service. I don't know what else to try, or what I have missed, or if my wonderful new replacement phone is faulty out of the gate. Please help, before I tear out my hair.

Lothruin, I am sorry your text messaging isn't working. I understand how frustrating this is and would like to assist you as best as I can. From  your post, I show you have performed a lot of the trouble shooting steps we would have performed. The last step would be to ensure your provisioned correctly on  your account for text messaging. This will involve speaking with you on an alternate phone. YOu may send me a private message with your name a alternate contact number to discuss and trouble-shoot your issue in more detail.

  • Recordsets per Message not working

I found that Recordsets per Message will split the source message into multiple messages and process them separately.  This will save my alot of time and is exactly what I need - but it does not work.
I have in my sender file adapter the following parameters in File Content conversion:
    Document Name = MT_SND_ZADIG
    Document Namespace = urn://federalmogul.com/ADP/FINFRADP001/00
    Recordset Name = RECORDSET
    Recordset Structure = RECORDSET,*
    Recordset Sequence = Ascending
    Recordsets per Message = 10
Key Field Type = String (case-sensitive)
    RECORDSET.fieldNames   RECORDCODE,ACCOUNTID,CONST_E,CONST_Z2M,MONTHYEAR,JOURNALCODE,FOLIOCODE,RECORDTYPE,DAY,GLACCOUNT,CODINGBLOCK,DEBITAMOUNT,CREDITAMOUNT,TEXT,FILLER1,FILLER2,ACCREF1,ACCREF3,EMPLOYEENO,REPORTTYPE,ZADIGCODE,ACC_TYPE,RESERVED,CENTURY
    RECORDSET.fieldFixedLengths  2,6,1,3,4,3,2,1,2,12,18,13,13,20,8,8,12,12,6,4,6,1,1,2
    RECORDSET.lastFieldsOptional   yes
When I feed in a file with 77 records I would expect it to split it into 7 * 10 recordset and then 1 * 7 - why is it not doing this?

    Hi Lynn,
And... what is the result you are getting?

    row.fieldFixedLengths 2,6,1,3,4,3,2,1,2,12,18,13,13,20,8,8,12,12,6,4,6,1,1,2
    row.lastFieldsOptional yes
