Keeping Paint Colour in Production Orders.

All Colleagues,
We are a made-to-order manudacturing environment and we need to maintain sheet metal colour in production orders. We are using variant configuration
We have come up with a few possible solutions-I would like your opinion on these options/possible solutions.
1. Maintain the colour in the part master record
2. Add the paint part number in to the BOM
3. Maintain the colour in the collective production order (manually)
4.Combine options 1 & 3
Maintain the colour in the part master record (for standard parts)
Maintain the colour in the collective production order (for non-standard parts)
We think option 4 is the most suited to our organisation-however we are not sure how to get our own paint colour code to the standard part master and also not sure how to then display the customer screen field of the collective order to indicate the paint colour.
All help greatly appreciated,
PAPJ1

Dear,
If you are using VC, then do the following
Make the material as Material configurable
Create a class with Paint as class and colour of paint as char in the class.
Create Paint colur as indivisual colour material master and connect the colour to material
Create s super bom and assig the paint class as class item in the BOM
Create VC class and assign  same colour char .
Then when you create sale order and select the colour, system selects the perticular colour in the BOM.

    Hi
Prod order qty (Target / Plan / Actual) is available in KKO0 reports
    To activate them:
    a. OKN0: Assign a cost comp str here and choose Product Group = Material Group.. Transport this setting
    b. Run KKRV every month after period end settlements are over...
    c. Finally execute KKO0 reports
b and c you need to do every month... a is one time setting

  • Report for production order with actual and target cost for each

    Hi
Is there any report that gives me the list of all production orders in a month with its respective actual and target costs?
I can use COOIS to get a list of production orders, then double click on the prod order, then click on goto and then to cost analyis.. but can i avoid going through all this and get a report with the details i need?
    thanks in advance

    Thanks a lot for that.
I'm a little confused with the columns in the report.
Which columns should I keep for my requirement? -
    Production Order
    Total Target Cost
    Total Actual Cost
    Total Actual Qty
    Total Target Qty

  • Production orders not to be considered during MRP run

    Dear SAPeers,
i want to know how to ensure that open production orders are not considered during the MRP run.
    the following is the scenario.
PIR for march after MRP run creates a planned order. this planned order is converted to production order. now this production order is processed but not completely confirmed and TECOed after a certain quantity has been produced.
now we delete the old PIR and create a new PIR in the next month. now we revoke the TECO status of the production order and run MRP. I want to know how to avoid MRP from considering the open production order and create planned order for the complete PIR quantity.
    Thanks and Regards
    Srinivasan

    Srini,
what i am worried is shortfall of raw materials in case they were to open the production order in the current month after the planning has been done. how do we allocate raw materials for both the plan as well as the open production order?
Okay, you presumably had RM available for all of your production orders (and those RM were balanced by the reservations from the production orders).  Now, you TECO the production order.  In effect, any un-issued RM are now released and freely available for other orders/planned orders.  Now you plan the following month.  Those RM that were freed can and will be used for the new plan.  Odd business process, but OK.  Now, you re-open the production orders, and, yes, you will have a shortage unless you run RM MRP again.  This is, ah, inconsistent with any business process I have ever seen.
The question that jumps to mind is, "Why re-open the old production orders at all?  Alternatively, why were they TECOd in the first place?"  If one knows that he intends to complete an order in production, one does not normally TECO the order, and then later reverse the TECO.
With respect to my name, I must unfortunately keep a low profile.  Ever since I escaped from the mental institution, the thought-police have been hunting for me. I do not wish to be the recipient of any further electroshock 'treatments'.

  • Budget error while issuing stock to the project based production order

Ours is project based Engineering company, we mfg euipments for the client which is part of the project.
We define separate WBS element for equipment to be manufacture & create reservation under this WBS element.
Secondly we follow production process through PP & define BOM for equipment which contains component rquired to mfg the equipment. To control cost(budget) component group wise we create separate sub WBS element for each component group(plates, motors etc) under above equipment WBS element
    Kindly refer e.g.below
    1.  Equipment (Finished code) to be manufacture is attached on WBS MYC-210952-06-03
    2.  Production order(1003780) created with reference to above WBS element
3   Material procured under WBS MYC-210952-06-03-001
    4.  Stock available under WBS MYC-210952-06-03-001
We would like to issue material available under MYC-210952-06-03-001 to production order which is attached to WBS MYC-210952-06-03. (Tcode MB1A)
System allows to issue stock, but gives budget error.
Is it possible to transfer budget auto in the transaction MB1A itself from MYC-210952-06-03-001 to MYC-210952-06-03 or what is the best solution available for above situation.
    Kindly confirm.
    Thanks & regards
    Sanjay Karnekar

    Hi Sanjay,
You have consumed a budget at lower level WBS for material procurement. And at upper level you want to do stock transfer.
But while doing budget allocation you have distributed the budget from Upper level to lower level so there is no distributable value is avaialble at upper level for the amount of the materail stock you want to transfer.
In this either you have to keep your all budget values at upper level where your doing equipment aeembly and not distribute the budget further at lower level.
Now you alredy this so you cant do anything.
Now you have following option available with you. You have perform following activity by the given sequence.
Deactivate the Budget check by CJBW
    Do your stock transfer
Do budget return by CJ38 from level WBS to upper level WBS
Now Activate the budget check by CJBV.

  • Posting to Production Order Field during WIP Calc in Classic Ledger FI/PCA

During our weekly Work In Process Calculation job (SAP Transaction KKAO) the following journal entry posts correctly per our company's SAP configuration:
Debit/Credit Work In Process Change (Income Statement)
Debit/Credit Work in Process Inventory (Balance Sheet)
When the entry posts in the Financial Accounting and Profit Center Accounting Modules within the Classic Ledger, the Order field (BSEG-AUFNR, GLPCA-AUFNR) is not being populated with the Production Order number.  Instead it is going into a Text field.  An example of the current behavior is below.
Itm PK Account    Account short text   Amount Text
      1 40 530000     WIP Change                9.59  ORD 12345678
      2 50 132000     WORK IN PROCESS    9.59- ORD 12345678
The other Production Order transactions such as labor confirmations and finished good deliveries populate the aforementioned Order fields and have no Text entry.
I would like the WIP calculation transaction to populate the Order fields in the Financial Accounting and Profit Center Accounting Postings.  How can I make this happen within the SAP configuration?
Thanks in advance for your reply.

    Hi,
old PCA report painter reports can be migrated to NewGL reports under certain circumstances (see SAPNET note 1555535 for details).
As the NewGL PC reporting bases on the data available in the new GL tables FAGLFLEX* I think that you will miss some infos in NewGL PC reporting compared to infos available in classic PCA reporting (eg object type / object class).
Nevertheless it is possible to add fields toFAGLFLEX* but I doubt that this will be helpful in your case.

  • Error  -10  while closing a Production Order with DI API

    Hi,
I've been trying to close some production orders using this code:
    Dim oProdOrder As SAPbobsCOM.ProductionOrders
            Try
                oProdOrder = Me.Company.GetBusinessObject(SAPbobsCOM.BoObjectTypes.oProductionOrders)
                If oProdOrder.GetByKey(intDocEntry) Then
                    oProdOrder.ProductionOrderStatus = SAPbobsCOM.BoProductionOrderStatusEnum.boposClosed
                    If oProdOrder.Update <> 0 Then
                        Me.Company.GetLastError(intError, sErrMsg)
                        If (0 <> intError) Then
                            sErrorMsg = sErrorMsg & "Production Order Close Error: " & CStr(intError) & "," & sErrMsg & _
                                ". DocEntry: " & oProdOrder.ProductionOrderOriginEntry & vbCrLf
                        End If
                    End If
                End If
...But I keep getting the same error every time I try: -10,Date out of reference date range, '_SYS00000005340'
The error doesn't show when I close the Order with BO's Form. And I've checked the exchange rate for the posting and due date of the document (and also for my current date) and there seems to be no problem with it.
I'm currently working with SAP BO 2004A PL 45.
Anybody has a suggestion? a workaround?
I'll appreciate any help you can give me.
    Thanks in advance...
    Alfredo

    Alfredo,
    just in case,
what is the previous state of the production order (planned, released,...)?
before you try to close the order, update the status to released:
    If oProdOrder.GetByKey(newID) Then
'Cambio di stato dell'ordine da 'Planned' a 'Released'
                    oProdOrder.ProductionOrderStatus = boposReleased
    oProdOrder.Update
I found this code in a DI API application written for 2004A. It was commented out so I suspect it didn't work.
    'Chiusura dell 'ordine
            'SelProductionOrder.ProductionOrderStatus = boposClosed
            'ret = SelProductionOrder.Update
            'If ret <> 0 Then
            '    sboCompany.GetLastError nErr, errMsg
            '    MsgBox "Errore " & nErr & " - " & errMsg
            'End If
    Hope this helps

  • Automatic Creation of Production order per month

    Hello Gurus,
Good Day! Is it possible to schedule creation of production order in background for certain material per month basis?
    Thank you,
    raymond

    Hi Raymond,
If the suggestion of REM does not work for your requirement, then take the help of your ABAPer use one of the below BAPI's & create a Z prog. for creation of order as required.
    1. Prdn order frm plnd order -> BAPI_PRODORD_CREATE_FROM_PLORD
    2. Prdn order -> BAPI_PRODORD_CREATE
    3. Prdn oder with ref -> BAPI_PRODORD_CREATE_FROM_REF
Alternatively, create one order & keep it open for the entire year, just do monthly wip calc & at the end of financial year settle the order completely.
    If helpful award points

  • How to add the long text in Production order through FM

    Hi,
Iam having custom program which has BAPI (BAPI_PRODORD_CREATE) inside it and this program is used to create Production orders with the details of Sales order Number,Line item,Plant,Order type,Quantity and Start date. This program is scheduled in Background.
Now client wants to add the Long text (seperate TAB in production order and they want to update the VC details of Sales order in the Long text area).
One option is after creation of Production order, through BDC(calling CO02 and update the long text) we  can update the long text and client doesn't want this option.
Another option is after creation of Production order, using Function module SAVE_TEXT, Update the Long text in Production Order and this is not working in Production order (already my ABAP consultant checked it ).
If any one of you came across this requirement, pl share with me how you addressed it.
    Regards
    A.Sureshbabu

    Hi,
The method is quite simple, i presume you're quite well versed with doing recording, so the key thing to keep in mind is how to prepare the input file.
At my end i had about 5 lines of data which needed to be uploaded, hence i had a tab-delimited file with the order nos. in the first column & the five lines of text in five different columns (Refer format below)
    Order No.
    Line - 1
    Line - 2
    Line - 3
    Line - 4
    Line - 5
    12345
    txt - 1
    txt - 2
    txt - 3
    txt - 4
    txt - 5
    67890
    txt - a
    txt - b
    txt - c
    txt - d
    txt - e
Now provide this input file for your lsmw or bdc program & it will work. You can work with your abaper if you're not so comfortable with LSMW or BDC programming he / she should be able to easily make it work for you.

    Vivek

  • To see the cost of production order  after settlement to header material

    hello guys,
In make to stock,we settle the total cost of prodution order on header material, right(if we keep as the default rule( distribution rule in order type)?
If i want to see that cost of production order which we settled against the header material, where should i check it?should i check in material account or somewhere else?
             Thanking you guys in advance.

    Dear,
There is a little missunderstanding in your thought.
If the material of price control S, When you do the GR, the STD cost of material is deducted from production order cost, then when you settle the production order, the variance is settled to variance account/PD account. hence the production order cost balance is zero.
Example- Production order cost is 60000
After GR the production order cost balance is 60000-50000 = 10000.
After settlement production order cost balance is zero.
Now your question is where can i see the production order cost?
You can see the production order cost in the production order itself.
In the production order...cost disply option just filter the origin with test settlement and GR.
Then total up the cost, then you can see the cost as 60000.
please come back if you need more help.

  • What are options for applying non-inventory costs to production orders?

We have a non-inventory costs that need to be assigned to product produced on production orders.  There are two processes -make-to-order and make-to-stock.
Currently we use activity rates to apply labor and burden costs to our production.  We use separate cost centers where needed to ensure that we have sufficient granularity to our activity rates applied.
We have a few specific issues where we need to understand the options for applying costs -
    1) We have freight and duty costs related to inbound raw material that we want to assign to our final product.  The amount assigned may be either a specific amount (or a specific amount per model), or a % of the total cost on that production order.
    2) We have material on the production order bill of material that is called out by quantity and we are using discrete backflush, however we have found there are issues with the accuracy of the quantities.  We want to have this product ordered using KANBAN (bin ordering) and have the value relieved from inventory when the bin is issued to production.  The cost on the production order is envisioned to be an average amount for the product - or an average amount by model.
    3) We want to have a portion of cost for production scrap included in the cost of each product produced. (similar to freight and duty).
In all cases- the amount can change depending on analysis from accounting regarding freight and duty costs (these fluctuate depending on the cost savings we achieve with combined loads and depending on the amount of out of country sourcing), the scrap amount may change periodically depending on the initiatives to reduce scrap on the production floor, etc.
We currently use three activity types, labor, burden and tooling.  It is my understanding that there is a limitation in SAP that keeps us limited to 6 activity types.
    My questions are:
Are we limited on activity types? these are an option to apply additional costs, but may not be the best option if we want to change the amount applied based on model or apply as a percentage.
Are there other options for applying costs that we can explore? I want to be sure we take into account the various options available before we start down a specific path.
Thank you in advance for your assistance.

As clarification- we are using standard costing for our raw material.  We currently accumulate the incoming freight in a balance sheet account.  This is treated as part of our inventory.  We have considered using an activity type with a activity added to the BOM to apply the cost to the production order.  Then we could use the secondarly cost element data to book an entry to relieve the freight account on the balance sheet.
Because we use standard costing- access to see production order variance is critical and must be maintained in any process we select. We also use COPA reporting- so the costing information must be able to flow to COPA for the specific orders/products/serial numbers.
We are doing make to order (production order / sales order specific combination) but also looking at a make to stock process - so the method to apply costs must take both of these configurations into consideration.
Rajneesh - you mentioned that I am limited to 6 activities in a work center- but does that mean I can have more than 6 activity types in SAP but only 6 activities in a work center/cost center combination?
    Thank you.

  • Production order release with batch management

    Dear All
Our company are going to use batch managment. But someone told us the production order cannot be released if the component with batch managment is missing (requirment is lower than stock). Is that true?

    Dear,
It depend upon the setting means if you want to automatic batch determination in production order for component then system will not allow to release if no batches are available.
This setting come from MRP 2 view batch entry if you keep it blank then system will allow you to release the order with missing batch quantity also.
Please try and come back if any issue.

  • Multiple batches for a production order and mapping with components

    Hello Gurus,
Our business requires to create multiple batches for one production order + they want to trace which component in the production order has been issued to the main equipment.
For example, I am creating production order for 'A' equipment for 4 qty. Business wants to create 4 different batches for these equipment
    Lets say now 4 batches are created A001, A002, A003 and A004.
Now lets assume 2 nos of 'B' component are required for 1no of 'A' component. So the requirement of B component is 8.
    Lets say 8 batches are generated B001, B002 ......B008
Now lets say batch B001 and B002 are issued for A001 and packed together. How do we map this?
I understand we can do some enhancement for creating the multiple batches but I still dont know how to map them with each other.
    Please help

    Hi Ethan
There is a functionality called WIP batches, that allows you keep the batch traceability within an order.
With WIO batches you can track which batch of component was used to produce each batch of finished product.

Yes .It is possible to do the 261 whule perfoming CO11N for  production Order .Find belwo the set up requireed :
Backflash can done based on the following set up  to have the 261 while perfoming co11n .
1.In material master MRP2 view of the item , Backflash field should be kept -1-Alaways back Flash
2.In work Center where the routing operations are done , -Goto-Basic Data View -Back Flash Indicator -to be marked .
3.In Master Recipie Componenet Alocation Tab -Item Line -Back Flash Indicator to be ticked once assinged to a particualr operation .
4.In OKP4 keep the All Components under Goods Movement option ticked so that system posts the withdrawal of all components displayed in the overview as a backflush
Priority will be always Work centre even you keep the Material master MRP2 view kept always back flash
