Labview 8.6 (in windows 7) crashes.

Hi All,
My main GUI is 1.3MB in size and I have observed it crashing once in a while.  Also, when I make this application into an installable sometimes I have observed random behavior such as
--tab controls starts blinking/flickering
-- combo box drop down items vanish as soon as its clicked upon
--message to user appears without printing the message content in it but with just the OK button
 etc.
it takes 4-5 seconds to save this vi after making any changes. the PC which runs this has 4GB RAM. So I am at my wits end as to how to go about this. Please advise.
Thanks.

  • LabVIEW 8.6.1 Installation Builder Crashes Windows 7

Hello, my very helpful friends.  I have what I think to be a rather complicated issue and for which I've run out of ideas.  Recently, I had to go through the dreaded enterprise wide Windows 7 upgrade.  Upon completing that slog, I reinstalled LabVIEW 8.6.1 onto my machine by going to the distributions folder and installing each piece one at a time.  After completing this process, I opened a pre-existing project (stored on a separate server) which had some pending changes in a couple VIs which needed to be incorporated into the executable and installation builds.  The executable build worked without a hitch, but when I attempt to build the installation, I get most of the way through the build, but then it crashes Windows 7 via the blue screen once it gets to this point in the build:
This is at the part where the progress bar stops proceeding for a minute or so.  I've tried deleting the installation and executable builds from the pre-existing project and recreating them, but that didn't work.  I've also tried completely reconstructing the project from scratch to no benefit either.  I've been able to succesffuly build both executables and installers in other projects since upgrading to Windows 7 so it seems particular to what's going on in this project.  The only other bit of information I can think of which might be useful is that every now and then, building the installer only crashes LabVIEW and not full Windows 7.
Any ideas or suggestions are appreciated.  Thanks in advance!
    Andrew

I never tried using this, but one of the options you could consider...

  • Windows 8 crash

I wrote a VI for controlling 3 New-Era syringe pumps and a Eurotherm 3216 temperature controller.
The 3 syringe pumps are piggy backed one after the other, and the first syringe as well as the temperature controller are connected via USB-to-Serial to a YOGA2PRO idea-pad running a 64bit Windows 8.1 running Labview 2013
My problem is that the program causes windows to crash, resulting in the blue reboot screen with the error "Multiple_IRP_complete_requests"
This error occurs at different stages of the programs and can occur after 10 mineuts or after an hour of running.
When I transfer the exact same VI to a 32bit Windows XP Lenovo running Labview2012  the program runs without a glitch!
I tried rewriting the VI to account for communication collisions or timing issues but havent been able to solve this mystry!
For now Im running my program on the "old" computer, but I would greatly appreciate any help or suggestions on the matter.

    Here are all the files.
In addition, I removed all the unnecessary stuff from the code.
I have no reason to believe the crash occurs due to anything but the labview, because there is absolutly nothing else on the computer besides the OS.
and this error keeps hapening only when I run the program
    Thanks again.

  • Problems with the installation of LabVIEW 6.1 on Windows 2000!

Windows 2000 crashes while installing LabVIEW 6.1, and the computer is unusable after the installation!

This also happened to me. Hopefully you are attempting to run LabView on a dedicated computer. Ours had "issues" with some of the other software we were running. Here's what we did: We re-imaged the computer (backed up everything and re-loaded the OS). Computer has been up and running excellent ever since. There was a lot of useless software originally on it, we took it all off. If you are able, only run what you need on it. Also, we have found that LabVIEW 6 runs strangely on computers with less than 128 MB of RAM. Our project computer currently has 320 MB of RAM (and 40 GB HD) and it runs perfectly.
Hope this helps. If you have a specific error code, let me know. Otherwise, from what you have posted, I believe this is the answer.

  • Labview as the active window disables 1 or 2 concurrent while loops

I am trying to get familiar with new mutltifunction DAQ hardware from IOtech - a DAQborad/2000.
I have a simple vi consisting of two while loops which should be running in parallel. One acquires analog input data, the other handles DAC outputs.
When I run the vi, the analog acquisition while loop runs fine, but the DAC while loop will not run if labview is the active window on the pc (frontpanel or diagram). If I make another window active, both loops will update as they should.
I can resize a windows explorer window to make it small, run my vi, make windows explorer the active window and see the vi running both loops and updating as it should in the background. If I use the "Highlight Executi
on" tool on the diagram screen, both loops run as they should.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks,
    Mike

Many third party drivers default to running in LV's UI thread, and if
they put the thread to sleep, other LV threads can run, but not the UI.
It is also possible that one of the loops is hogging while the other
    is being starved.
So, I've got two suggestions to try. First try putting a delay of a few
ms in the busy loop. This might help with the starvation. The second
thing to try is to open up the IOTech VI and try setting the DLL node to
be reentrant. This will allow the node to run in any thread and not
force it into the UI thread. Beware that if the DLL isn't threadsafe,
this could lead to data corruption or crashes, and before leaving it s
    et
this way, you should probably contact IOTech to see if their DLL is
threadsafe. If it is not, contact NI tech support and they can help you
determine if it is safe in this case to leave it running in other threads.

  • Windows explorer crashes whenever I right-click mouse on any file.

I have installed iTunes 8.02 with QuickTime 7.5.5 in Windows Vista for my iPhone 3G. However, windows explorer crashes and restarts automatically whenever I try to bring up the context menu by right-clicking my mouse on any file, or I press the button "DEL" on my keyboard.
This problem is gone if I un-install QuickTime 7.5.5. However, iTunes 8.0.2 cannot run without QuickTime.
Any solution for this ridiculous issue? Please help!

    Hello,
You are correct.  It was right where you said it should be.  For some reason doing a search does not find it.   Anyway, here it is. Thanks.

  • Windows 7 Crash (Blue Screen) with Skype 6.18 on H...

    Hi,
I think a lot of people are having the same problem with Skype 6.18 on HP Pavilion notebooks.
Windows 7 crashes during the auto-update or installation of 6.18
After about 3-4 hours of troubleshooting the Blue Screen / service exception error (in ks.sys) I discovered that it's caused by the HP HD Webcam [Fixed] driver (version is 6.0.1113.1 released 2012-11-20 (or 20-11-2012)).
The driver is written by Sonix and is unlikely to be updated. So you have the choice of going back to an older version of Skype or disabling the webcam / driver through Device Manager. As soon as you disable the driver / device Skype will install / start - but of course you won't be able to use video during Skype calls.
Hopefully Microsoft / Skype will fix the driver incompatibility in a future release.
Skype Support - the issue is with the HP / Sonix driver - file is snp2uvc.sys
There are similar issues reported with a previous version of the HP HD Webcam driver as well (SPUVCBv_x64.sys).
Please fix it. I'd like to use video in calls again!

The best working solution at this time is to download and install Skype 6.14 and disable updates.  If you still get prompts to upgrade you can ignore them and the program should continue to function as it has not been retired as of yet.  Hopefully there will be a resolution in a future Skype update or an updated driver from HP that might resolve the issue.

  • After updating to Windows 8.1, Windows Explorer crashes.

Hello, I have recently updated from Windows 8 to Windows 8.1. When it finished the install and reboot, it went to my desktop where my background image was gone, Kaspersky Pure 3.0 was gone, and Windows Explorer crashes every time it is opened. The other
two problems are not as big of a problem right now so I searched around for a fix on this issue. I found that some applications, specifically Autodesk, were causing conflicts. I don't have Autodesk but I decided to update everything anyways. I reinstalled
Kaspersky, fully updated it and ran a scan to see if it was a virus, which it is not. I updated AVG 2014 free, Malwarebytes free, and many others. I also ran Windows Update. I ran CCleaner to see if it would fix the problem and it didn't either. I looked at
the error report and saw that it was caused by StackHash_35ff, which through further investigation turned out to be a fancy term for nothing. What is my problem? I really don't want to restore to an older version because I've spent the better part of the day
allowing Windows 8.1 to bother me. Please help because I'm out of ideas and nothing from other responses seemed to be the solution.

    Okay, so the above worked. I ended the Com Surrogate task, the went into cmd and typed in these two commands;
    regsvr32 vbscript.dll
    regsvr32 jscript.dll
Everything seems to be back in order. I hope this helps anyone who has the same problem, seeing as no one else came up with this solution.

  • Help! Windows Explorer crashes regularly when using "SharePoint" directory synced with OneDrive for Business

We are using SharePoint 2013 and I want to sync document libraries with
OneDrive for Business with my PC running Windows 7.
In general, it works, but my Windows Explorer crashes very often (after a few minutes) when I navigate in the synced directories and open files there (or copy files into them in Windows Explorer).
How can I find out what happens and how to avoid it?
    remark:
We are still using Office 2007, so I installed only OneDrive for Business from the Office 2013 DVD and
deactivated all other components like Office 2013 by hand:
(so for example, the shared office feature or MS Info Path etc. were not installed)
Is there a crash log, where I can find more information about the crash?
Does OneDrive maybe need other components to be installed and can I install them without damaging my existing Office 2007 setup?

Did  you check your Event Viewer for any errors during the time when Windows Explorer crashed?
    Thanks for this hint!
The Log file says the following, so it seems to be WIDCOMM\Bluetooth Software\btncopy.dll
to be responsible for the crashing Windows Explorer

  • Charting data from text file in LabVIEW 5.1 for Windows

I am having some difficulties trying to figure out how to plot a chart with
data from a file. I would like to be able to read data from a text file
into a chart using LabVIEW 5.1 for Windows. I have looked in the help
within the program and online. I have also looked in the user manual and
the book "LabVIEW for Everyone". Could you please give me specific
instructions on how I would construct the program to be able to do this.
    Thank you.

    Hi Ellie,
It depends on how data is stored in that txt file. Usually you load the data into an array either using or , the array if necessary and send it to the graph indicator in required form. If you want a more detailed answer, send me a sample data file ([email protected]).

  • Windows Explorer crashes when plugging or unplugging ipod touch

Seems something is buggy with Itunes 7 or the Ipod Touch itself. This happens to me on 2 different computers, one Dell and one HP so I doubt seriously if it is the computers themselves. All of my drivers on both systems are up to date.
When I plug in the IPOD it will work and sync, however when I unplug it I get a windows explorer crash each time. Needless to say this is irritating as heck.
    Anyone else having this problem?
    thanks
    Redy4it

I have the same problem, even when i use the eject button. I hate vista but on my pc i have no choice but to run it. Never had any problems on my Macs. i also get a strange error on work pc running XP. It says at first that it doesn't recognize the device running in compatibility mode but then it switches over and works fine. I tend to blame it on Microsoft crap, maybe they are updating their OSes to mess with Apple products.

  • IPhone causes Windows to crash immediately when Camera app is on...

I sync my iPhone with two computers: an iMac for music, videos & photos, and my Dell Inspiron D860 running Windows XP for my work e-mail, contacts, and calendar.
If I have taken a photo with the iPhone and either leave my iPhone in Camera mode, or have even left any photos in the "Camera Roll" album in the Photos app, then my Windows PC crashes immediately when I hook the camera up for a sync. As soon as the USB cable makes a connection, I get an instant blue screen: informing me of a BIOS memory error and a message saying that Windows is shutting down to prevent further damage. So, I disconnect the iPhone and reboot the computer.
However, if I delete any images in the Camera Roll album of Photos and make sure that the iPhone is not running Camera when I plug it in, I can sync between the iPhone and iTunes on Windows XP flawlessly.
The irony here is that I have left the sync Photos box unchecked in iTunes on the Dell running XP. So, technically, nothing in the Camera or Photos apps on my iPhone should even be communicating with software on the XP system.
Have other folks experienced this problem? If not, perhaps I'm doing something wrong and would appreciate any insights!!
    Thanks

    I finally nailed it.
i have a Acer Aspire notebook with orbicam and i had the latest driver from ACER but still had some problems on XP but deleted everything (Orbicam drivers and camera utility from Control Panel) also i verified that everything was gone in MY PC / Properties / Hardware / Device Manager / Imaging Devices (if not, uninstall the Orbicam from there.
then i restarted my computer and installed Logitech Quickcam utility version 10.5 from logitech site (from the Quickcam 4000) that i previously downloaded, everything went ok.. i restarted again my computer and my camera worked perfecty and also i was able to connect my iphone with photos in camera roll and XP detected it normally without any trouble. The only thing that came out after doing this is that my Orbicam appears in the SAFE DEVICE REMOVAL UTILITY right next to the other utility icons and the clock. i will try to solve this and post any coments.
I hope this info is useful for others like me with this issue.
