LabView project file does not understand mapped directories

I have my LabView project file and VIs located on a network driver \\svr-maltese\botdfs which I have mapped to my S: drive.  I have a short cut that I use that gets me to
\\svr-maltese\botdfs\.....\48-000058-001-x01 or I can walk the S: tree down to 48-000058-0001-x01 directory, but I get to the same place and the same files.  Depending on how a get there I will be conficts that have to be manually resolved.  LabView does not seem to understand that they are the same file.  LabWindows has the same problem, but handles it better.

Fixing this would be hard and quite costly in terms of performance. For each UNC file LabVIEW would have to query if it is on a network path and if there are alternate paths that also point to the same resource. Then it would have to normalize the paths. Networked file APIs in Windows are notoriously slow and hampered by all kinds of authorization problems where the only way to detect them is to start the operation and hope that it finishes properly, running into lengthy timeouts if it doesn't.
I doubt you would want LabVIEW to take one minute for every UNC file in a project every time you load that project because it does this alias checking and runs into network timeouts every time.

  • File does not support mapping diriver on WINDOWS 2000

    Hi ALL,
As you know, we use File class to access a existed file on physical driver.
    For example :
File file = new File("C:\\test\\log\\text.txt");if the driver is mapping driver:
File file = new File("M:\\test\\log\\text.txt");it only works on WINXP, but it does not work on WIN2000,
if I set path as UNC path, it will work.
File file = new File("\\\\file-server\\test\\log\\text.txt");Is there anybody meets this issue?
How Can I make it works on WIN2000 with mapping dirver?
    Thanks

    Thanks for your guys answer.
As what you said, access a mapped driver is controlled by Application, it is controlled by OS.
I have tested on my WINXP workstation and WIN2000 workstation to access Win2003 server.
both of them are admin level.
WIN XP works fine, WIN 2K does not work.
by the way, both of workstation log account are admin level as well.
I think maybe it is because of Low level OS version problem?

  • IMovie searching for files for project that does not exist...

Whenever I fire up iMovie 09 on Lion, it spins, and then tells me it can't find a video file for a project that does not exist. That is, it says 'File xxx.mov from project 'Movie 1 cannot be found - without this file the movie cannot be played.' The project is one I deleted a long time ago, and does not appear in the project list. How can I force iMovie to forget about this?
    Thanks!
PS the specific error is 'Searching for movie data in file "New Project 1 - Large.m4v". The only button is "Stop". so I press that, then a new dialogue box saying 'The movie file 'New Project Large.m4v" cannot be found. Without this file, the movie cannot play properly." It has cancel and search buttons. Obviously, searching doesn't help - it was deleted a long time ago. Cancelling makes it go away until iMovie is launched again.

    Whitecity,
    This is awesome.
So moving forward from here, you can narrow down which event is causing the behavior but systematically trial and error. Once you determined the exact event folder, there are subfolders underneath:
    /iMovie Movie Cache/
    /iMovie Stabilization/
    /iMovie Thumbnails/
Try removing these to see if iMovie rebuilds them.

  • WAV file does not sound as good as project files

    Hello,
I am a new MAC user. So I am still trying to get the hang of things: )
I am using Soundtrack Pro 2 to master a CD. The original CD has problems - some noise, low levels, EQ issues.
I began by opening a new audio project and bringing in one track(song)at a time.
The tracks are 2 channel stereo.
With help from many of the program tools, I have managed to create a better overall quality of sound.
My problem seems to be when I go to save the finished mix to a WAV file - the saved file does not have the same "punch" or even volume level that the working project file has. and in some cases sounds worse.
I have also noticed that just by opening a new audio file project the "export" option is grayed out thus I must save a "copy of"
Again since I am new to using the MAC I may be missing something.
Any direction would be greatly appreciated.
    Thank you,
    acreations

    OK - how about this:
What would be the best format to save the project file as - getting the closest match of sound quality?

Fonts are handled by your operating system and installed through the respective System Control panel (Windows) or Fontbook (Mac). On Windows simply type "Fonts" in the search bar in the start menu and when you open the panel/ folder use File --> Add Font. On Mac the procedures are similar, you just need to find the Fontbook app in Applications:Utilities.

  • Compiled CHM File Does Not Reflect New Project Name

I have read many of the experts' responses to posts and found them extremely helpful. However, I have not seen one that addresses my issue.
I have RH HTML Version RH8. I renamed a project via 1) File - Rename Project and 2) Single Source Layouts - Primary Layout - Properties - Output Folder and File Name.
Two problems are: 1) The Project Folder name still reflects the old project name and 2) The CHM file still reflects the old project name.
As a result, the output Help that the user sees still has the old project name in the title bar.
All generated files as well as the RoboHelpHTML Project File were changed to the new project name, just as the RENAME PROJECTS Help says it should. However, the CHM file does not reflect the new project name as it says it should.
    1) Can I change the Folder name that was created when I compiled the Help file to the correct name?
    2) Can I change the FILENAME in the SELECT OUTPUT FOLDER AND FILENAME  window?
    3) Can I / should I rename the TOC and Index filenames from the old project name to the new project name? (Help says that changing the project name does not change these file names and it didn't.)
Will any of these actions correct the problem? I appreciate any help you can give.

    Try File > Project Settings.
And if that doesn't get it, try the Project Set-up pod, windows and change the Window Caption.

  • Premiere Pro Project Manager does NOT include After Effects files.

Warning: Premiere Pro "Project Manager" does NOT include the After Effects 'dynamic linked composition' files associated with the project when "Collect File and Copy to New Location" resulting in the incomplete and loss of all dynamic linked compositions in the new project destination ( folder or disc drive ) .. I know this also includes Photoshop dynamic links and assume includes Audition audio files as well.

Here's the best way: Personal Responsibility.
Put all of your project files in one file. Stop asking PPro to do it for you. It's simple. This is a no-brainer. If you create a linked comp, create it in the same file as your PPro project and files. When you send it to Encore, create the Encore project in the same folder. Works all the time, every time. When you're sure that you're finished with the project for the forseeable future, move the entire folder off your workstation into storage. Do I move a copy of each asset (video clip, image, audio, etc.) into this folder before I import it to my AE or PPro project? Yes I do. Is it overly time-consuming? Not really. I can fly on my machine. Does it beat not being able to open a project later. Oh yes. Yes it does. I'd say I did 50 projects last year this way. When I occasionally had to move a project folder back to the workstation, I had no problems. Everything worked as it did before I off-loaded it. That's because I take personal responsibility for my projects. It's imporatnat that theyt work, especially if I end up having to hand it off to a third party down the road.
BTW, my workstation is RAID 0. If you are using anything less, you need to upgrade. What I'm trying to tell you is that my system works very well. I have not always done things the right way. I have had my share of frustration. The point is that I learned. Now I'm passing that on to you. I use CS5 on an HP Z800 with a measely 12 gigs of ram and a single i7 quad core and the aforementioned RAID 0 configuration and a hacked Nvidia GTS 450. It works quite well. I'm sure I would do even better with another i7, 12 more gigs of ram and a Quadro 4000, but this is what they give me to use.
Additionally, I'm using CS5 at home on a MUCH older HP xw8200 dual dual Xeons, 12 gigs of ram and software-only MPE. Guess what? It works quite well.

  • I can't share my Final Cut X project : the process does not start. it seems that the project files is not found by the application. why ?

I crate a project on Final Cut pro X. A 52 mn movie, that works really good on the time line. But I can't export it on DVD or IPad or other devices. The process is engaed but without effective effect. After one hour no result. It seems that the "project" files is not physically recognise by Final Cut export routine. Is anybody had such a bad surprise ?

Tell everyone what type of video (format) you shot in the camera, what are your project settings and exactly what settings are you choosing when you use Share.

  • This file does not have a program associated with it...

Ok, I'm not awesome at technological troubleshooting, so if someone could help me, I would be grateful because I'm getting frustrated.
I'm trying to play a silly little game online and it's telling me I need Shockwave.  I know I have it because I've played this game before (something time-wasting on addictinggames.com) and I found a file called Shockwave 11 in C:\\WINDOWS\system32\Adobe\Shockwave 11 with all sorts of things in it.
I checked my Add/Remove Programs list and it says I have Adobe Shockwave 11.5 and that it is used rarely.
Since there seems to be a glitch here that I don't understand, I went to the Download Shockwave page on this site and tried to download the latest version or whatever, if that would work.  The gray progress bar moves across under the "Adobe Shockwave Player is now installing" line and then I get an error popup that says:
"This file does not have a program associated with it for performing this action.  Create an association in the Folder Options control panel."
What am I supposed to do?  What does this mean?  What file?  Huh??
I am running Internet Explorer 7 and have Windows XP.
I am a total noob and need to be spoken to like a child.  Can anyone please help me?

I clicked on your link (thank you - where did you get that?) and installed the Full version, apparently successfully, though during the download there were a couple of components that were troublesome.
The error message I got during setup read: "Error opening file for writing: C:\WINDOWS\system32\Adobe\Director\SWDNLD.EXE   Click Abort to stop the installation, Retry to try again, or Ignore the skip this file."  Retry did not work, despite having clicked it 10s of times.  I clicked Ignore, then got the same message again, but about a different file: C:\WINDOWS\system32\Adobe\Director\SwDir.dll   Clicking Retry again did not help move things along, so I ignored this one too.  What does this problem indicate?  Do I need to do something here?
Those are the only errors encountered during setup.  I declined the Google toolbar.  The dialog box says Successfully Completed; I clicked Close.
So I go to try to play this game as a test and it says "Installing Shockwave Components" and then I get the same error popup telling me that this file does not have a program associated with it for performing this action and that I need to create an association in the Folder Options control panel!
What does this mean and how do I do it, since it appears to be critical to getting this thing to work...?

  • Error Message** This file does not appear to be a photshop file

Okay.. so I have been researching forums and have seen this message throughout, my issue seems to be slightly different. When I am in Encore CS3 and trying to create a menu, I import my background designed in photoshop, have the buttons set up correctly, test it in the preview screen and everything works correctly, the file is recognized as a psd file, and even saves as a project in encore. When I go to build my DVD I get an error saying "This file does not appear to be a photoshop file, although when I check the properties it recognizes it as a psd.. any suggestions?

    Adam,
Not sure that I understand this message:
And Actually yes I do have a circle in my button to play now.
Can you enlighten me a bit. Does this mean that En has accepted the PSD, or something else.
If something else, I would also look closely at the Layers in the PSD. While I do not recall very small Layers creating an issue in En, they have been known to do so in PrPro. This is often something like a very small logo, on a Layer by itself, with nothing but transparency around it. In PrPro, a message, similar to yours is offered up, but that is in Import, and you got it only with the Build.
Too bad that the Check Project function is not a full pre-flight test of all Assets, like in InDesign, but it falls short, as it only checks for DVD-compliance in the navigation. I've filed Feature Request for more, but since En is built on the Sonic AuthorCore modules, I suppose that it's not as easy, as I would have hoped for.
Good luck, and help me understand the above,
    Hunt

  • "SQL Server 2008 Reporting Services does not support map report items"

    Hi,
I am trying some new feature that are introduced in SQL Server 2008 R2 version. While I try to use "Map" control within it, it threw the following error:-
"Error 1 The map, Map1, was removed from the report. SQL Server 2008 Reporting Services does not support map report items. "
-Also, similar kind of error I am getting for "Indicator" control.

    Hi Tej,
I think you get this error message when you are deploying a report to report server using BIDS, correct?  If not, please provide more details on your scenario :-)
If I guessed correctly, then this message is a result of trying to deploy a map report (a SSRS 2008 R2 feature) to a non-R2 2008 report server.  When deploying a report of RDL2010 format to a non-R2 report server, BIDS will downgrade the file to RDL2008 format, so that the non-R2 report server can process it.  Any report elements using features not supported in RDL2008 will be dropped during this downgrade process.
BIDS gets the server version from a report project property called TargetServerVersion:
    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ee635898(SQL.105).aspx
If your report server is indeed the 2008 R2 version, then the TargetServerVersion property should be set to "SQL Server 2008 R2 Reporting Services."  The project property page also has a "Auto Detect..." option if you are uncertain about the version of your report server.
    Hope this helps!

  • File Does Not Have Proper Content

    Hello,
I'm working on rebuilding a project file after some knucklehead at work deleted many of the files in the project (don't worry, the person is still alive).
After re-transcoding and re-synching all the files (interviews, to be precise), most of them have been able to be re-linked fine, even when the attributes of the clip have changed slightly.  One of them, however, is being grumpy
When I try to reconnect it to the file, it says:
"The file does not have the proper content to reconnect to 'clip name' at timecode x in sequence y."
Is there any way to work around this?  I don't understand why all the other clips, some of which changed much more between their original versions and the new ones I've made, were able to be relinked when this one refuses.
    Any thoughts?
    Cheers,
    BWP

You may have to simply reimport and cut the material into the sequence.
This may be faster than trying to finesse a reconnect.

  • Dependencies file does not exist warning

Hi all, i am getting an error when creating a new project.  After adding my file, i right click and refresh dependencies.  LabVIEW cannot find the file WDT Get Waveform Subset.vi from the NI waveform vi.lib.
I can open my file with no errors as normal.
Have deleted the waveform folder from the vi.lib and repaired with LabVIEW 8.2 but still has same error.  When i ignore item, the file has a warning stating "file does not exist in the dependencies list.
    Anyone else seen this problem?
    Best Regards,
    Grant

    Hi Grant,
This is a strange problem most likley down to some linking errors within the project. I would recomend mass compiling the waveform directory and deleting and replacing the WDT Get Waveform Subset.vi from any VI's that use it in your project.
