Launch RCU utility on Solaris in CLI mode
Hi ,
We have a scenario to launch RCU utility to create MDS schema from Solaris machine.
The RCU utility can be launched only on Linux and Windows.
We have tried the following workaround to launch on Solaris and this seems to be going well.
Copied the executable (/bin/rcu) shell script as "/bin/rcu_solaris"
User Solaris JDK on the executable shell script (bin/rcu_solaris’) i.e.JRE_DIR="/sparcv9/packages/jdk/jdk1.6.0_33" in place default Linux JDK.
Can someone suggest whether it's only the JDK dependency which is stopping RCU to be launched on other platforms(Solaris) and any gaps with the above approach?
Thanks,
Rajesh
Hi Erik,
As part of our automation framework, we are trying to automate this end to end application installation setup process(including MDS schema creation using RCU ) and we are in the process of certifying the automation process on other platforms like Solaris.
If this has to be launched only on Windows or Linux then it has to be manual process. therefore, we have tried this workaround of pointing to a Solaris JDK and launched it successfully.
We use this tool only to create MDS schema as a pre-installation step. Also, we believe from FMW 12c onwards this is part of Weblogic and should be able to launch on other platforms as well.
Just for the MDS schema creation with PS5 release, should we go with the mentioned approach of launching it on Solaris ? Considering that We will not disturb the original (/bin/rcu) executable shell script. We always take a copy(say /bin/rcu_solaris ) with Solaris JDK added for running it.
Appreciate your inputs on this.
Thanks,
Rajesh

After SN install can't launch Disk Utility from external drive
I recently upgraded 10.5.9 to SN on my white Macbook. First I used Carbon Copy Cloner to clone the old drive onto the replacement drive in an external enclosure. Then I swapped drives so that the new drive is now the internal drive and the old drive is in the enclosure. I then upgraded the OS on the internal drive via SN installer on DVD.
Now when I start from the external drive in OS X 10.5.9 and try to launch Disk Utility from this drive I get a weird error message that "Disk Utility can't be launched because it's incompatible with this architecture." The only things I can think of is that Snow Leopard installs something that globally effects all perhipherals (like new disk drivers?), or that there is something in the enclosure's USB bridge which is causing this, or that installing Snow Leopard breaks the PRAM for older versions of OS X. Tech support for the enclosure vendor tells me there is nothing in the enclosure's USB that would cause this. Any insights into what's happening appreciated. Thanks for response. Ah, that's it. I was trying to launch it from the applications folder I had dragged to the dock, which was done while running Snow Leopard. That's why (duh!) all the application icons were slashed out. : |

I use JBuilder 8 to develop Java projects and everything's fine. however when I try to compile / run
a java file in DOS CLI mode, error pop-up:
C:\>java
Error opening registry key 'Software\JavaSoft\Java Runtime Environment\1.4'
Error: could not find java.dll
Error: could not find Java 2 Runtime Environment.
I tried re-install J2SDK but in vain, could anyone give a solution?Sounds like JBuilder hijacked your runtime environment, that or the reg key is bad...
I check my own PC which is an XP box, and there is no Java.dll mentioned in the registry
and I do not have JBuilder on it
Check you JBuilder Documentation and thier website to see if this is a known issue...
To me (and I could be wrong) it sound like JBuilder creates entries in the registry that modifies the runtime environment so that it can access it for compiling, debugging and what not...

Is there a similar 'setkeycodes' utility in Solaris?
I'm currently working on using an LK461-A2 keyboard for Solaris on x86. There are 6 keys not working. I was able to get them working on Linux by using the setkeycodes utility to map the scan code to an appropriate key code.

Is there a similar utility in solaris that can be used to map scancodes to keycodes?
I would greatly appreciate a possible solution.
Thank you.Tom_RH wrote:
I am just starting a project in Java (my first java project). I am wondering whether there is a concept in java that similar to the structure in C or C++.In C++ a struct and a class is exactly the same (apart from two minor differences).
The C++ concept of a struct/class is supplied in Java by three language elements with different properties, namely the class, the interface and the enum.
In my c++ projects, I used to define all my structures in a single file (say structures.cpp) and included the file in other files wherever I need. Is there a way to do similar thing in Java? How classes are distributed on files is not a Java language issue. It's a question for your development system. Most development system allow you to have one public class on each .java file only. So I suggest you nest the "structs" like this,
public class Struct {
public static class One {
public static class Two {
public static class Three {
// etcetera
}The above can be kept on a single .java file and you just import it whenever you need any of the Struct classes.
The nested "structs" will behave like ordinary Javav classes apart from their naming. Their names must be qualified with the name of the outer class like Struct. One, Struct. Two, etcetera. -
When I now try to launch Disk Utility it immediately fails to launch. I know it has not been deleted. I tried to copy it from my PowerBook and place it in both applications and library but it won't open and gives a message that it is not compatible with this platform. I had previous problems that were corrected by an Apple qualified technician and it had worked after that. I tried to access it to repair permissions after a rather long period of not opening it (DU). How can I get it to work again? Thanks.
Reinstall the 10.5.8 COMBO update, repair permissions, and restart.

Impossible to launch disk utility from installation disk.
Hello.
I try to launch disk utility from install disk and I got a kernel panic screen: load the install disk, restart my computer with the alt key depressed, choose the install disk, press enter. After a few minutes, again a kernel panic screen ...
Someone already had this problem? Help ?
Regards. Many thanks. I test with the second DVD player and I got the same problem. When the install disk is inserted in the DVD player, it works perfectly but boot always stops with a kernel panic.
The only problem of my Mac is to boot on the install disk. When I launch a Leopard install, I have the same problem : Kernel Panic.
Very strange... Don't know about booting process of Mac. It seems that my Mac is not able to load a kernel image from install disk or something like that.
Here is the last report of the Kernel Panic :

Is there to find an FTP utility for solaris 8?
Prefered without root permissions.
I'm not sure if it's the correct forum for such a question, but it's the closest one I've found.
Thanks. Not sure if this is what you are looking for. Root under Solaris 8 does not have permission unless you edit /etc/ftpusers. As far as an FTP utility under Solaris, it already exists and is executed with ftp <I.P address>

Cannot Launch Airport Utility.
I have an Airport Extreme. When I launch the Airport Utility I get a window that opens a says " Checking for Airport software and firmware updates. Please wait..." When I click on the OK, the window closes but the Airport Utility never launchs. What do I need to do to launch the utility ?? ( Note: the Airport Extreme is working. I am connected to the internet. )
If you are using a PC, it is probably either the Windows firewall or your anti-virus software, (or both) that is blocking AirPort Utility's attempt to connect.
Try temporarily disabling the firewall or anti-virus software, or look into the "allowed devices" pages or something similar for these applications. -
How to use makefile utility in Solaris
Hi all,
I am new to Solaris platform, but have strong desire to play with Solaris.
I have downloaded many utility programs (source code version) for Solaris like LAN-Chat, UNRAR, Screensaver, etc
For example, I downloaded "xscreensaver-5.02.tar.gz" and unzipped to a folder.
I referred the readme.txt where i have been guided as follows to install.
1. ./configure
2. make
3. make install
But i get an error message in the second step while installing. Can i have a detailed explanation regarding[u] "How to Install" a software using the "MAKE" utitlity.
Thanks in advance,
regards,
Parasou. With your instructions, i have updated the libevent's EVENT.H and compiled it.

the problem is that i launch the airport utility and it always says there is an update to 5.6.1, i click update and it launches the app store and tere are no updates available. i'm wondering if i need to reset or resetup my router but am afraisd if i do that i will loose all the files on my hard drive. I think this also may be related to why i am unable to use the remote app on my ipad or iphone for my apple tv (2nd gen) any input would be bvery helpful. i am now running mountain lion for my OSX
You must have upgraded to ML.. 5.6 airport utility is not actually ML compatible.. it will work but cannot be loaded as Apple ceased support at Lion. Hence why there are no upgrades.. you should not be using it at all. You are supposed to use toyland v6.1 included in ML.
I would certainly just ignore it.. having 5.6 is a great advantage .. it is a tool.. ML version is a toy. -
Unable to launch Adobe Reader using ShellExecute with Protected Mode on
HI
Using the latest Adobe Reader 11.0.9, I open a PDF via ShellExecute in a legacy 32bit application, I get an unsupported configuration dialog and prompt to open with Protected Mode disabled always, once or don't open.
I need it to open with Protected Mode enabled.
The folder is in the Security (Enhanced) Privileged Locations.
I turned Protected Mode logging on and I see these messages when I call ShellExecute:
[12:02/18:17:12] interceptions setup failed - error:0x0
[12:02/18:17:12] Failed to add target - error:0x0
[12:02/18:17:12] Failed to launch sandbox process. ResultCode: 1 error:0x5A4
[12:02/18:17:12] Sandbox Process Initialization Failed - error:0x5A4
I've read the Unsupported Configurations section of the Protected Mode Troubleshooting guide but nothing matches my system as far as I can tell.
I am running the 32bit legacy application in Windows Server 2008 R2 (64bit) as a member of Domain Administrators
What can you suggest is the unsupported configuration?
Thanks
CraigI've tried another PDF viewer and it works fine so I think it's time to say goodbye to Adobe Reader.

Fennec won't launch with Weave installed without toggling "safe-mode"
I'm having a strange problem with fennec and weave on my Nokia n810. Once i have run fennec with weave installed (and waited for the sync to finish), I can no longer launch fennec. Launching fennec from xterm just returns me to the command prompt.
If I then launch fennec in safe-mode, close, then start in "normal" mode, everything works. But I have to launch fennec in safe-mode once before it will run again with weave installed. This is definitely repeatable.
I've done clean installs of fennec, I've completely deleted my profile, but the problem persists.
Hoping somebody here might have some ideas...

Launching from web a form in debug mode (?!)
Hello,
I have Developer Suite 10g with WebUtil 1.6. I am playing with a form, which has an attached library from which use a function. This function doesn't function properly and I would like to debug it.
Problem: in Forms Developer, when I launch the form in DEBUG MODE, it launches my form using the webutil configuration section. The URL looks like this:
http://localhost:8889/forms/frmservlet?config=webutil
I need to launch the form with another configuration section and at the same time in debug mode.
How should I do this?
Thank you in advacne for the help.
danielaforms-builder:
look at Edit-Preferences, go to the last tab (Runtime) and then look at "Application Server URL"
there you can change the used section of your forms builder configuration -
ITunes will not launch if it is not in Compatibility mode.
I am running Windows 7 64bit and whenever I try and open iTunes regularly, it crashes and fails to launch.
However, when I put it in Compatibility mode (XP SP3), it works fine at the cost of the features of Aero
Are there any fixes for this?I too, could kiss your feet! I had to scrub my work computer, and I can't work without muzak. It was driving me crazy!!!! You have saved me a large amount of sanity.
Thanks! Have a great day!! -
Flash will not launch unless Mac is booted in Safe Mode
This Flash app. is part of Adobe MC CS5 Suite. The computer is iMac with latest update. All updates recent on CS5. All other apps. in suite are good.
Flash launch hangs when initializing Tools. After about 10 minutes it completes it's launch but frequently crashes after awhile.
I have deleted the plist, uninstalled/reinstalled. The only way it will work is if I boot the iMac in Safe Mode.
Any thoughts? You are SO right! I discovered Wednesday there were
TONS of fonts installed over the summer from the Folio Collection. They were inside a folder within the Fonts folder and I didn't go far enough down the fonts list to get to "F" where they ended up alphabetically.
You get the prize.
What is still a mystery is why Flash reacted to excessive fonts and not the other apps. in the Collection? I will, however, not lose sleep over this.
