[Lenovo IdeaPad S10-3t] Waking up from suspend not working properly

Hi,
I'm having some issues with getting suspend to work on my S10-3t. I tried pm-utils and the s2ram script (with about any combination of options as my machine is not on the whitelist) and always get the same behaviour: Suspending seems to succeed but waking up takes about 5 minutes.
I tried using pm-suspend under ubuntu 10.10, works flawlessly out of the box, so it *can* be done.. somehow.
Apparently this was a kernel related issue in older versions of ubuntu too, I couldn't quite figure out how they fixed it though (https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+sour … bug/598664).
I tailed the pm-suspend.log and kernel.log through one suspend/wake up cycle, here's the output:
pm-suspend.log:

Try this with a kernel 3.X version:

I have been trying to resolve the issue of suspend failing to resume on me Lenovo s10-3 (not the touch screen) for what seems an aeon.
A profound thank you to you all.
hpet=disable highres=off nohz=off
Works!
I now have no indication lights showing when the machine is suspended? But finally I can close the lid and reopen to resume - fantastic, this machine may finally see some more use.
I am running Linux Mint Debian Edition (LMDE) running Gnome 3 with 3 series kernels (presently liquorix 3.4.0-4.dmz.1-liquorix-686)

  • Resume from suspend not working anymore

    Hello,
until a couple of months suspending and resuming on my system worked flawlessly. Then something happend (I can't remember what I did - system update or a new package most probably) and I didn't have time then to trace.
I'm running 64-bit archlinux on a SandyBridge i3 processor with onboard graphics and using Gnome3.
As I was trying to gather some information I found that actually sudo pm-suspend works (when suspending and resuming from a virtual console). When I try to get back to Gnome with Alt + F7 or sudo gdm (if gnome was not running) the system hangs and I must force shutdown with the power button.
As I am out of ideas and I don't have any experience at tracking errors, can anyone suggest what should I do next?
    Thanks in advance

    Thanks for your quick reply!!
    1) I didn't find anything weird in dmesg.log (or I don't know what to look for)

  • Ideapad s10-3s blank screen and fan not working

Hi guys im new to this forum, i stumbled upon the community as i recently have had a problem with my sisters netbook and looking for a solution on the net. Basically the netbook powers on, the first 3 lights come on, the power, battery and screen thing (watever that one is) however the hdd light doesnt, after around 3 seconds the fan stops whirring, but the hard drive is on, well sounds like its doing something. there is a blank screen.

Hello musmaan and welcome to community,
As I understand you have no display issue with your netbook.
Kindly take out the battery and connect the power adapter then check if the display comes.
If the issue persist then it could be system board issue.
    Best Regards,
    Tanuj

  • Pdf's from word not working properly

Hi, I'm trying to print to acrobat printer and generate pdf's from word 2010. Unfortunately whenever I do it anything that is in the header or footer and any images on the page are completely missing when the pdf appears. Does anyone know how to stop this happening?!? It's driving me crazy.
    Thanks a lot!

    Hi there,
Just wanted to correct a possible misconception.
There is no PDFMaker ribbon available for the 64-bit version of Office 2010. However Acrobat is compatible with Office 2010 in that you can still create PDF files using Acrobat X by printing to the Adobe PDF printer.
To the original poster, could you upload a sample Word file?
    Thanks,
    David

  • Restart and waking after sleep is not working properly

    okay. a couple of things.
one: sometimes, when i put my computer to sleep and come back to it later, it wont re-start up. i know it is going to happen because it is only when i open the computer and the screen flashes the sign in instead of just coming right on. when i enter my password and press enter, it goes black. it isnt off, and i can still see the mouse, but it wont sign in. i have to hold the power button and re-boot it.
two: it wont restart unless i have pretty much just started it and havent used anything. for example, when i get an update, it says would you like to install update, i press yes, and it says restart now? i say yes, and it just doesnt do anything. i cant re-start it or shut it down. again, i have to manually hold the power button and re-start it.
    can anyone help me?
    thanks so much!

  • Javascript called from actionscript not working properly

I have a flash file that I want to change the background of
an HTML frame when Scene2 begins. The code I have works fine in
Safari and gives the desired result. However, calling it from
firefox own Win IE, results in the javascript being placed in the
address bar, and the name of the bkg image placed in the upper left
    corner.
Here is the code in the flash file...
    getURL("javascript
    ocument.body.background='fork.jpg'");
Here is the URL to the site
    http://www.nealstudio.com/ametricstest/flashtest.html
Surely, it's something simple that I'm missing.

yes that's quite correct although you'll find it's much more
    robust to
put all your javascript into functions, which should be
    stored in an
external .js file. That way, if you need to change anything
    you mostly
won't need to go into flash at all, just edit the function in
    the .js
file. Having the external .js then allow you to include the
    same
functionality on different pages in your site whilst keeping
    all
    functions in one place.

  • Lenovo Ideapad S10

I thought I may as well start a s10 thread as there seems to be a thread for every other netbook.  I just received mine and I will post anything relevant to the s10 on arch here.  Perhaps others have arch on s10 comments.

    Put something like
    snip
in your ~/.Xmodmap file, then you can map the XF86Audio* keys to the correct functions in your window manager.  This may not be necessary in all window managers but I had to do this before fluxbox would recognize the keypresses.
[b]EDIT:  This seems to only be necessary in flux for whatever reason.  I'm back to my normal dwm and this messed the keybinds up, so I'll remove them from this thread until I do some further experimenting.
I also found that 866 what the best framebuffer resolution the same way you did
Instead of configuring in xorg.conf, I used hotplugging and an excerpt from a forum post to get the mousepad working correctly.  I still have no xorg.conf.  I will edit this post with the fdi file I used for the trackpad when I have my s10 with me.
I've tested the webcam, the linux-uvc-svn-all package in the aur works fine for me.  The mic on the other hand looks like it needs a newer version of alsa -- http://www.linlap.com/wiki/lenovo+ideapad+s10 reports that .18a worked in ubuntu and the current package available in arch is .18.  Alsa has release .19 and I quickly rebuilt the package to see if it would fix my problem but I had no luck.  I probably need to rebuild more packages as well.
I have not tested the card reader but I plan on testing that when I get home tonight.

  • No Webcam on my Lenovo Ideapad S10 - Please Help

    Hi
I own a Lenovo Ideapad S10 with Windows XP.
When I bought the computer, the inbuilt webcam was working perfectly. Then, all of a sudden, the webcam somehow disappeared.
When I press Fn + Esc, it says the Webcam is not installed.
I read all the forum posts and tried to down load the Easy Cam Driver for S10 with Windows XP. No Driver shows up for the Camera (http://consumersupport.lenovo.com/us/en/DriversDownloads/drivers_list.aspx?CategoryID=43)
Can someone please help me ?
    Cheers
    Mihir

un-install drivers, restart your computer and re-install camera drivers for couple of times.

I'm going to assume that since you deleted your hard drive and all its files, you had a backup, yes? If the backup has an OS (bootable clone), then you can boot into it by holding down the option key when you start up you iMac and choose the backup drive. Then use Carbon Copy Cloner or Super Duper to copy the files back to your iMac.

I've bought a iphone 5c from USA but the headset is not working properly its still in warranty, can i go for replacement of headset??

Since it is only the headset that is the problem and not the iPhone it would be better to just buy a new set and not let yourself be frustrated over it.  If you send anything to your sister before the one-year warranty is over, include the headset so she can exchange it at an Apple store.

i am new to mac air. Today i installed (unsuccessfully!) MAPLE16 on my mac book air. Now since it does not work properly (it also does not appear in  applications) i decide to delete it. I could not remove it from launchpad . i need urgent help from your side.

Any third-party software that doesn't install by drag-and-drop into the Applications folder, and uninstall by drag-and-drop to the Trash, is a system modification.
Whenever you remove system modifications, they must be removed completely, and the only way to do that is to use the uninstallation tool, if any, provided by the developers, or to follow their instructions. If the software has been incompletely removed, you may have to re-download or even reinstall it in order to finish the job.
I never install system modifications myself, and I don't know how to uninstall them. You'll have to do your own research to find that information.
Here are some general guidelines to get you started. Suppose you want to remove something called “BrickMyMac” (a hypothetical example.) First, consult the product's Help menu, if there is one, for instructions. Finding none there, look on the developer's website, say www.brickmyrmac.com. (That may not be the actual name of the site; if necessary, search the Web for the product name.) If you don’t find anything on the website or in your search, contact the developer. While you're waiting for a response, download BrickMyMac.dmg and open it. There may be an application in there such as “Uninstall BrickMyMac.” If not, open “BrickMyMac.pkg” and look for an Uninstall button.
You generally have to reboot in order to complete an uninstallation.
If you can’t remove software in any other way, you’ll have to erase and install OS X. Never install any third-party software unless you're sure you know how to uninstall it; otherwise you may create problems that are very hard to solve.
You may be advised by others to try to remove complex system modifications by hunting for files by name, or by running "utilities" that purport to remove software. I don't give such advice. Those tactics often will not work and maymake the problem worse.
