Line Weights in Acrobat X Pro

Hi People,
When  I opened a pdf attachment in email (Outlook) the "Line Weight" is very very small.  When I save the attachment and then open it in the free reader the line weights are all OK.
I have tried toggling the "Line Weight" option in "View, Show/Hide, Rulers & Grids, Line Weights",  but I see no change in the display.
What am I missing?

  • Change the "Instructions Line" in Adobe Acrobat 8 Pro for fillable forms

I have created a fillable form in Adobe Acrobat 8 Pro - Currently the Instructions say "Please fill out the following form" - I need to change it to "Fill out highlighted fields, choose "Print Form", and follow Instructions on printed Form".  I don't know how to customize the default instructions.

You don't have the ability to change that. If you did, it could be used to spoofing purposes. You can display instructions in a popup dialog or button on the page that when clicked hides itself.

  • Selecting Edit, then Preferences in Acrobat 9 pro closes program

Hi there.  This is my first time posting here, I think; and I could really use some help.  I have Acrobat 9 Pro, and all of a sudden, if I select Edit, then Preferences, I get the error message inserted below.  Any ideas on how to fix this?  Thanks in advance.

It's now been almost 4 months since I encountered this "issue".  Some extra information would be that, when I first posted this topic, I was using a "free" (read between the lines) version of Acrobat 8 Pro.  SInce that time, I have actually purchsed Acrobat 9 Pro and still have the problem with my program shutting down when trying to select the Preferences link.  What gives?  What would cause this.  And before someone else says, try repairing the software, I have done that as well as making sure there are no updates available.
As an aside, I am another one that is disgusted with Adobe for not making the one click PDF Creator funcional in Office 2010.

  • If-Then-Funtion bei Acrobat 9 Pro

    Sehr geehrte Acrobat-Nutzer,

I am trying to print some government forms that are generated by an Access 97 program ( I know old and I should get user off) But when we generated the forms in Acrobat 8 std all worked well.  Moved to Acrobat 9 pro and now lines are being dropped.  Form is NAFTA Certidicate of Origin and complex.

How are you creating the pdfs? If you are indeed printing to pdf, what joboptions file are you using now? What were you using before?

    Hello,
How to convert XPS file to a PDF one via Adobe Acrobat XI Pro with command line?

  • Change subject line of email when submitting a form using Acrobat X Pro

I have created an interactive PDF in Acrobat X PRO with a submit a form button. Everything works fine all the way through distribution except that I need the Subject Line of the submitted form when attached to an email to read "Form Returned: File Name" rather than "Submitting Completed Form". All of my past forms had the "Form Returned: File Name" subject line automatically...did something change and is it possible to change the subject line? Any help would be much appreciated.

Thank you for your reply. I had actually come across that form on multiple occasions during my research. Looks like I need the doc.mailDoc() function, but there isn't an example of the code. Looking in other places I have tried a few things unsuccessfully. I did find this, which I thought would be even better than Form Returned: File Name in the subject line...actually taking information from fields in the form:
// Build the subject line text from several fields form fields
    var subj_text = getField("text1").valueAsString;
    subj_text += getField("text2").valueAsString;
    subj_text += getField("text3").valueAsString;
    // Send the email
    mailDoc({
        cTo: "[email protected]",
        cSubject: subj_text,
cMsg: "Body of email message goes here."
I entered the script(adding in my own information for the email, body and subject line) by adding an action to the button to run the java script but it did not work. Any ideas??

  • Line Weight View

I have Adobe Pro 8 and make documents for other people to view in reader, i have an issue with line weights being too thick. No problem just check the line weight under the view menu in Pro, but i can't save that choice in the document and that choice is unavialble in reader. can i set the line weight default to on? or is there some way of saving my selection and allowing other people to view it the way i do?

Small is normally the problem that is an issue with the line resolution for print. For big lines, you probably will have to go back and adjust the original document. I do not think there is anything you can do in Acrobat - it is not a graphics editor.

  • PDF "line weight" issues

When exporting my document (full of graphs and charts) from Microsoft Word 2010 into Acrobat Pro as a PDF, I am having "line weight" issues upon zooming in and out of the document.  Depending on whether I zoom in or out and to what extent, lines disappear, become thicker or thinner or criss-cross eachother; There seems to be no "line weight" problems when printing though.  Does anyone have an answer?

Try changing the Rendering options on Preferences > Page Display. For example, make sure Smooth line art and Enhance thin lines are checked.
There will be variation in previewing line weight because of the lower resolution of a screen. On the printer, which has higher resolution, you're seeing a more accurate preview of the objects.

  • How to edit email preferences in Adobe Acrobat 9 Pro

I have adobe Acrobat 9 Pro.
I would like to edit my email preferences so that when I create an email with the PDF as an attachment the name of the file will automatically also be the subject line of the email.
according to the help instructions, I should find this by: " open the Preferences dialog box, and under Categories, select Email Accounts."
In my version, "Email Accounts" does not appear in the categories list.
Where do I go to edit email preferences?

thank you for the suggestion, but I do not have a "Send Email" or "Submit" button available in my version. I have "Attach to email" option which automatically opens a new message in MS outlook (which I did not set up, it just started doing so automatically) without any further dialogue boxes or options.
Also, this is only for regular PDF files, not forms.

  • Math calculations in Acrobat 8 Pro.

I am using Acrobat 8 Pro on a windows machine running XP SP-3.
I am building a form from a PDF document. I want to make some of the fields calculate totals from other fields... According to the Users manual (printer from the on-line documents), when I go to field properties, there should be a calculate tab which gives you the options to set the way you want the field to do calculations.
    THIS IS A TEXT FIELD.
In the (Object)(Value) tab, I can select from a drop down box of 6 types of data; User Entered - Optional; User Entered - Recommended; User Entered - Required; Calculated - Read Only; Calculated - User Can Override; and Read Only. If (Calculate - Read Only) is sellected, I only have two radio buttons available. (Calculation Script), which gives me NO place to enter any script and, (Runtime Property) which gives me other options like page number viewer locale etc.
I don't get what the manual says like; (Value Is Not Calculated) or (Value Is The) options. These, the way I understand it, should give more option to set up a calculation field...
    What am I doing wrong?
By the way, the User manual I downloaded has reference to this on page 220.
    HELP

    Hi rdenichilo,
Just out of curiosity, how many form fields are in the document? If the document is primarily text with just a signature field I'd recommend saving as RTF, but that will remove form fields. If you've got a lot of form fields we'll need a different idea

  • Acrobat XI Pro Won't Convert 206 Page Word Document into PDF

    Hi there
As menetioned above, Acrobat XI Pro Won't Convert my 206 Page Word Document into a PDF.  The Word document was originally a PDF file that I converted to Word and it has split all the text into sections.
It sounds like converting a PDF into Word isn't the best way to edit, re-format and then save as a PDF again.  I would love to hear your advice on this.
Thanks very much for your help!
    Fiona

First before you recreate the PDF from the Word Document.
    In word: Open Document
Next open a new Blank docment
switch back to Word click on the ¶ button
scroll to of go to very end of docment.
click just to right of the perion in the last sentence.
now go to very beginning of document
Hold down the Shift and click to the right of first letter in document.
    Now choose copy.
    Now switch to Blank document
    Choose Paste special.
    Now choose Text only.
If works all the words will be there spaced correct but with no ¶'s.
    Now insert returns as desired.
Now save as a docx file under a different name.
IF you are on a Mac use the following directions:
go to File menu > Print > PDF Hold down PDF button until Context menu pops up.
    Choose adobe PDF.
follow steps when the first window opens.
Save as PDF in desired location.
Now open the PDF in Acrobat. Document should be properly formatted and ready to go.
AS you've found The conversion is not seamless. Acrobat doesn't distingish between automatic end of line breaks and Returns and you have to put the pieces back again.  I wish Adobe and MS would get over the jealouscy of each other and share howcode works so Thatapplications could work seamlessly together.  BUt they never will.

  • Acrobat XI Pro won't start

I have Acrobat XI Pro installed on my Win 7 Professional system. Every so often (more often than once a month), when I click on a PDF file, nothing happens. When I look in Task Manager, there's an instance of acrobat.exe listed. Often I'm not sure if I really clicked on the file when nothing happens, so I'll click again. In that case, I'll get multiple lines of acrobat.exe in Task Manager.
The only way around the problem that I've found is to uninstall and reinstall Acrobat, which is a huge nuisance.
I upgraded from Acrobat X Pro because I had the same problem with that version. I tried several "solutions" that I found online for what sounded like my problem, without any success. I was hopeful that upgrading from Acrobat X to XI would solve the problem, but it hasn't.
I have CS6 installed on my system, but I uninstalled Acrobat from the Suite when I installed Acrobat XI.
How can I fix this problem once for all? Thanks!

I clicked on the Adobe Acrobat XI Pro entry in the Control Panel Programs and Features list, and it gave me a message box asking if I wanted to uninstall the program. I was hoping that it would give me a repair choice, but it didn't; it just proceeded to uninstall the program.
So I then reinstalled the program, which is listed in the Control Panel as Version 11.0.0. I will try to update it to 11.0.03 now.
Already, once, in testing that the new installation worked, it crashed and asked whether to close or debug, which makes me wonder how solid the installation is.
However, at this point, it's working so I can't test any fix to the problem till it occurs again. I just wish I could do something that would solve it once and for all.
