Loading Adobe CS4

I try to load Adobe CS4 from the first of three discs purchased from an Indiana University bookstore. No set up screen comes up. I go into Computer to set up. When I double click on the Setup icon, a box with this message appears: "SYSTEM REQUIREMENT ERROR - This software cannot be installed because the file system of the OS volume is not supported. The OS volume should be local, writable and should have non-case sensitive file system." There is a Quit button at the bottom. Does anyone know what I should do to be able to set up? Thank you.

According to http://www.adobe.com/products/photoshop/photoshop/systemreqs/ CS4 requires a G5 or Intel processor. eMacs are G4. I don't know how cast in stone this requirement is - it may just run slower on a G4.
The bit about "non-case sensitive file system" suggests your drive may have been formatted as case-sensitive, which is unusual. The only way I know of getting around that is to back up all your files (clone to an external drive would be easiest), and completely erase and reformat the drive as plain Mac extended (journaled), then clone everything back again.

Adobe CS4 crashing computer, Please Help!

Last week I purchased a refurbished Macbook Pro from Apple, spent the weekend transferring all my files over so I could be ready for work this week. I made sure to do a clean install of Adobe CS4, rather than pulling it over from my old computer with Migration Assistant. I went through and updated everything I could. Even so, my computer has completely crashed 4 times today while working in Adobe CS4 (screen goes completely black, have to hold down the power button to restart). I usually have Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, and Bridge open at the same time. This time I was working in Illustrator, placing an image when the computer screen went black. From my research, I thought that Adobe and Apple had straightened everything out with Snow Leopard and CS4, but it doesn't seem so for me. Is there anything I can do here to fix this issue? Just FYI, I did try to use the migration assistant from my old macbook pro (OS 10.4, Core 2 Duo 2.16ghz) and it would freeze with 22 minutes left. I ended up going in and having to delete the username, and manually pull over the files I needed from my old computer. I've always had good upgrade experiences with apple products, but the past 4 days have been incredibly frustrating. Things seem to be far less painless than they used to be... Any help/advice is very much appreciated!

An update to the issue posted. 5 minutes after I got done posting this topic, the computer hard crashed again. I wasn't running any Adobe CS4 programs, only Safari. I was opening the top-sites page in safari when it happened. So now I'm officially even more confused and frustrated. Once again, here is the crash report. Tonight I may wipe the computer and just start over. I have no idea what else to do.

File Access Denied Error trying to load Photoshop CS4 on Windows 7

I am trying to load Photoshop CS4 on Windows 7 64bit & I keep getting File Access Denied. I am unable to read to the disk or to load the program. I do not have the option to open as administrator.

So when you put the disk in it won't run correctly? When the disk is inserted you should have a window pop up with 2 options. 1 to install and the other to see what is on the disk. Choose to explore or open the disk. Go to the CS4 folder where the photoshop .exe file is (that will run the setup), right click on the .exe file and choose run as Admin and it should start. See if it will install. If not then read below.
I am not sure how far you got in the install before so chances are you will have to run the CS4 cleanup utility. 2 levels to run at but don't use 1 or 2 just type in the number 3.

Before you try to reinstall the software ensure that adobe reader is not installed. If it is remove it. It has caused issues in the past with vista and CS4 installs.
Also turn off windows Defender and any anti-virus software. You can keep UAC on in Windows 7.
During the CS4 install at 90 percent it will almost stop and may take 5 to 10 mins to finish. This is normal. What a pain huh......
After install is finished, reboot
After reboot, go to the CS4 64 bit or 32 bit icon (depends on 32 or 64 bit Windows 7) in start area, right click on CS4 64 bit (if you have windows 7 64 bit) and choose properties, compatibility tab and then check run as Admin at the bottom area. Hit apply, ok to close out.
Now start CS4 and run the updater.

Hi guys, I have Adobe CS4 on a dell laptop, which runs windows 7 (64bit). I have been using this program with a Wacom bambo and an intruos 4 for many years without a problem. Today however I upgraded to a new Cintiq 13. I installed the lastest driver and it all seemed to go well. However, I now start photoshop and get the usual loading screen but now it stops at initalizing and windows pops up informing me that the program has stopped working and needs to close. Anybody have any ideas? I am not very computer savy so wanted advice before I started mucking around.

Hi I have Adobe CS4 premium installed on my Mac desktop. It was an upgrade to CS2 Standard. I would like to install it on my new Macbook Pro laptop but nothing happens when I insert either CS disk into the laptop diskdrive. I assume that I need to load CS2 first? But it says that it does not support Power PC ?? So how do I get this software on my Macbook Pro? Thank you.

There is no need to install the Cs2 prior for installing the CS4. You can directly install the CS4.

Indesign CS4 is behaving strangely after some use, either
menu doesn’t work well or you can’t change or select
font etc, so I have to close and restart the application.
After effects CS4 crashes etc.
So overall I am really unhappy with CS4 products. Since this

I Agree, since Adobe acquired Macromedia, who were far far
better at creating the software, and would actually bother making
the effort to test stuff before shipping it out the door!!, Still
using Dreamweaver 8 Works like a dream lol!! Far better than cs1,
2, 3 or 4.
Recently bought a copy of fireworks CS4, the bloody thing
keeps crashing and now it has decided that it will ask me to accept
the license aggreement when I load it up and then just crash!!

How do I load my CS4 DESIGN PREMIUM ONTO NEW IMAC THAT DOES NOT TAKE DISCS ANS THEN UPGRADE TO CS6

Please help me, I am trying to load my existing CS4 design premium onto my new imac, the imac I realised after purchase does not have a CD drive so I dont know how to load it on. Also i THEN NEED to upgrade from CS4 to CS6 and I am not sure hpw to do this.

You can install CS4 if you want to, but it is not necessary to do if you really only want to install the CS6 upgrade. You only need the serial number from CS4 in order to confirm the upgrade elligibility when installing/activating CS6.
To install CS4, you can download the trial version of the software thru the page linked below and then use your current serial number to activate it.
Be sure to follow the steps outlined in the Note: Very Important Instructions section on the download pages at this site or else the download will not work properly.

Getting 1603 adobe media encoder error message when installing adobe cs4

new to this.i am getting a error code 1603 stating that there's an fatal error with insatlling ADOBE MEDIA ENCODER in adobe cs4. i can not installed the program. i have a compaq presario that meets the minimum requirements. Ive tried everything from logging in administrator to using clean script to call tech support.please if someone is familiar with this error, help me fix it. tHIS error is driving me crazy.

the error shows up when i installing disk 1 and it starts off installing the program then i noticed that when i came to installing the encoder the background screen flinches then the error message comes us. when i quit the installer and requests more info, it just gives me that error 1603. please help me.

Firefox 33.1 does not load Adobe Flash Player 15.0.0.223

As far as I can determine, Firefox 33.1 does not load Adobe Flash Player 15.0.0.223 (identified on the Plug-ins list as "Shockwave Flash 15.0.0.223") when I access most of the pages on the MSN website. Whether it will display any specific video is unpredictable but it displays about one out of five.
If I place the mouse cursor on the blank black video display area (for which no controls or buttons are displayed), and click the right mouse button, then either (1) the context menu is the same as for clicking the mouse cursor on an empty part of the page, or (2) the context menu is not displayed at all.
Apparently, Firefox has failed to load the plug-in, but does not display any error message. Neither is there any error message displayed by the plug-in.
If you think I am willing to undertake a trial-and-error odyssey through various "do this and see what happens" recommendations in "Knowledge Base" articles and the like, then think again. I don't have the time to make the effort, and I will use Internet Exporer instead. It ought to work with MSN just fine. :-)
Since I did not develop Firefox, this is not my problem to solve. It's your software, not mine, and I didn't make the mistakes, so you fix it.
By the way:
Either Firefox Help does not display the version correctly, or your Troubleshooter doesn't obtain the data correctly. Help says version 33.1 and Troubleshooter says 33.0. YES I KNOW THAT FIREFOX 33.1.1 IS AVAILABLE. SO WHAT?
Troubleshooter also identifies the Shockwave Flash plug-in as "15.0 r0" but the native Add-ons feature identifies it as 15.0.0.223 -- which is the version that Adobe uses.
The last line of the Troubleshooter's "educated guesses" just has "* 5.1.30514.0". I have no idea as to what that refers to and I doubt that anyone else would have one either.
Well, maybe those numbers are good enough for "educated guessers" but in my experience computers do not make "educated guesses" even if software developers do.

Please post specific instructions that will resolve the problem. If you don't know why the problem occurs and how to remedy the problem, then don't bother.
Realize that the problem did not occur with the previous version of Adobe Flash Player, but began after it was updated to 15.0.0.223. So it is is apparently specific to that version, and it may reflect a flaw in Adobe Flash Player. There's no way to actually report it to Adobe. Posting a report in their "user forum" just produces replies like the one that you have posted in reply to my OP, so what is the use?
Evidently you presume that Firefox does not have a bug, that something else doesn't work and you may be right. However, if Firefox does have a bug, then nothing that you have posted will correct it, and experimenting according to your boilerplate will be nothing but a waste of time and effort.
Again, the problem is not that Adobe Flash Player 15.0.0.223 does not run, but that it does not run when I attempt to view most of the videos on MSN. It does display videos from YouTube and other websites with an occasional specific exception. If the failure occured on more websites, and with all MSN videos, then maybe your suggestions for investigating it would have more merit.
For what it is worth: the problem occurs in Firefox Safe Mode and without Firefox Safe Mode. Disabling or enabling any extensions or other plug-ins has no effect.
I established that while investigating why Firefox 33.1 started producing crash reports every time that it initially displayed the New Tab page when I visited MSN (Firefox 32 did not do that). I also checked whether the actions that I took to troubleshoot that behavior affected Adobe Flash Player on MSN. They didn't.
Apparently the crash reports occured because Firefox could not find or could not load the "thumbnail" images for website pages that I had previously seen (they are often deleted by ''CCleaner''). The crash reports stopped after I made a couple of changes to the configuration for the ''SandboxIE'' sandbox in which I run Firefox.
Frankly, Firefox "Safe Mode" is something I don't need, because I run Firefox in a ''SandboxIE'' sandbox, which is a much more comprehensive security measure than anything implemented by any specific application. At the moment I don't recall whether Firefox Safe Mode is enabled, although I probaby re-enabled it after disabling it during the crash-report investigation. But it didn't make any difference with regard to Adobe Flash Player in that context, so there's no reason to repeat it.

Adobe CS4 Install freezes at "Preparing to Install..." on Vista

I am trying to install Adobe CS4 for the first time (it's not an upgrade) from DVD on Vista (all the latest updates are installed; Windows Update has nothing more to do). The Vista install is also pretty fresh, although I have installed a few things. The CS4 install starts and I get a "Preparing to Install..." message. But, that's it. It's stuck there indefinitely.
I have disable my antivirus software, tried to use AdobeSupportAdvisor (but it doesn't seem to be able to determine that an install has been attempted), and been working through everything on

to no avail. I get the same behavior no matter what I try.

OK, I got it to install. I think what happened was really simple and stupid on my part, but I can't really say for sure because I didn't get any such info from the CS4 install program. I had an upgrade version and I was installing on a new computer. So, possibly the CS4 installer was looking for a previous version.
Anyway, here's what I did:
1. I noticed that in spite of the install not appearing to get anywhere, there were some CS4 components installed. I removed them via the usual Control Panel / Add/Remove Programs routine.
2. Install CS3.
3. Install CS4.
Worked just fine.
So, my only suggestions are:
1. If you have an upgrade version, install the version from which you are upgrading first.
2. If you had this install failure, it might help if you uninstall whatever got installed during the failed attempt(s).
Simple and obvious, I suppose, but it did get the install working.

Unable to load pdf docs after loading Adobe Flash Player

I loaded Adobe Flash player today and now I am sorry that I did. When I try to open any pdf documents on my mac I get a message to the affect that I need to lauch adobe reader, accept the terms of the agreement, quit my browser (safari) and relaunch it. When I try to do all of this, I cannot find a way to accept the terms and conditions of adobe. I'm am so stuck and so frustrated! 2) Crossdomain.xml is already there in the webroot.
3) The 3 f4v are placed in the application/vod as we are implementing the rtmp dynamic streaming.

Unable to install Adobe CS4 on Windows 7!

I just upgraded my laptop's OS from Vista 32-bit to Windows 7 32-bit. When I tried to install Adobe Design Premium CS4 Student Edition back on my laptop, it just doesn't seems to be installing anything. And after an hour or so, it just pop up a window stating that the installation failed with an Error Code 1620. I tried the installation for over 6 times since yesterday till now!
Back to the time when I used Vista, I had to create a new folder (eg. Adobe CS4) to install the software there (in that folder) and that was when it finally installed the software for me. Of course, I met the neccesary system requirements even before buying the product.
And now, even when I tried the same technique, it just won't work. I followed all the steps stated (such as restarting my laptop etc) and it just won't work! And according to the reviews on Windows 7, many people has no problem with the compatibility issue of CS4 and their copy of Windows 7.
Please save me if you have any idea on what's going on with the problem I am facing. I really need help regarding this because my whole life is going to depend on this fabulous software which I have been using it since last year for school and social works!
