Loading SQL Server 2000 Metadata into Workbench

I have installed the workbench (9.2.0.1.0) on my laptop and created the repository in my destination Oracle database (8.1.6.3). I don't have access to the SQL Server database but my vendor has run the provided .bat file to generate the .dat metadata files. When I run in disconnected mode in the workbench and try to load the metadata files I get a message that it can't find any metadata files.
Any suggestions? I have verified through DOS that the files exist and have the correct names.
Thanks,
Monique

Hi,
The directory structure should look like below.
No other files should be in the Master folder or the <databaseName> folder.
When loading the files into the OMWB select the
Omwb\DSML_Scripts\SQLServer2K\
directory.
Omwb\DSML_Scripts\SQLServer2K\Master\SS2K_SYSLOGINS.dat

  • How to load decimal values into a file using bcp in SQL Server 2000?

    Hi everyone,
I'm trying to load data from a database table to a text file using bcp on SQL Server 2000. When I'm loading the decimal values, the values before the decimal are not being loaded into the file. How could I load the values before decimals?
Here are the DDLs and DMLs of what I'm trying to run:
    CREATE TABLE [dbo].[Product_Sales](
    [Year_of_Sale] [smallint] NOT NULL,
    [Product_Type] [varchar](25) NOT NULL,
    [Product_Group] [varchar](25) NOT NULL,
    [Category_Type] [varchar](25) NOT NULL,
    [Category_Group] [varchar](10) NOT NULL,
    [Product_Count] [bigint] NOT NULL,
    [Product_Amount] [decimal](19, 2) NOT NULL,
    [Category_Count] [bigint] NOT NULL,
    [Category_Amount] [decimal](19, 2) NOT NULL,
    CONSTRAINT [PK_Product_Sales] PRIMARY KEY CLUSTERED
    [Year_of_Sale] ASC,
    [Product_Type] ASC,
    [Product_Group] ASC,
    [Category_Type] ASC,
    [Category_Group] ASC
    ) ON [PRIMARY]
    ) ON [PRIMARY]
    INSERT INTO [Yearly_Sales].[dbo].[Product_Sales]
    VALUES(2010, 'Online', 'Web', 'Cameras', 'Electronics', 547, 0.00, 0, 0.00)
    EXEC [master].[dbo].[xp_cmdshell] 'bcp "SELECT * FROM [Yearly_Sales].[dbo].[Product_Sales]" queryout D:\Yearly_Sales\Product_Sales.dat -c -T -S'
And the output I see in the file is:
    2010 Online Web Cameras Electronics 547 .00 0 .00
The values before decimals are being truncated.
    Thanks,
    Bangaaram
Known is a DROP, Unknown is an OCEAN.

You can modify the decimal column(s) in the table to varchar type before export. But it does not look good.
    alter table [dbo].[Product_Sales]
    Alter column [Product_Amount] varchar(20)
    alter table [dbo].[Product_Sales]
    Alter column [Category_Amount] varchar(20)
    Does that make any sense?
Known is a DROP, Unknown is an OCEAN.
Basically you modify the decimal column to a varchar type before you run the bcp command for export. You can modify your source table or you can modify them on the fly. It is just a workaround.
Modifying the source wouldn't be a good idea. Never do that if you can't get your desired output.

    IS THERE ANY UTILITY AVAILABLE?

Not a concern for an Oracle forum.
    Als no need for SHOUTING.
    Conventional solutions are
    - dump the data to a csv file and load it in Mickeysoft SQL server
    - use Oracle Heterogeneous services
    - use Mickeysoft DTS

  • Problem in Loading Data from SQL Server 2000 to Oracle 10g

    Hi All,
I am a university student and using ODI for my final project on real-time data warehousing. I am trying to load data from MS SQL Server 2000 into Oracle 10g target table. Everything goes fine until I execute the interface for the initial load. When I choose the CKM Oracle(Create unique index on the I$ table) km, the following step fails:
    21 - Integration - Prj_Dim_RegionInterface - Create Unique Index on flow table
Where Prj_Dim_Region is the name of my target table in Oracle.
    The error message is:

I am using a surrogate key column in my target table alongwith the natural key. The natural key is populated by the primary key of my source table, but for the surrogate key, I have created a sequence in my oracle schema where the target table exists and have used the following code for mapping:
    <%=snpRef.getObjectName( "L" , "SQ_PRJ_DIM_REGION" , "D" )%>.nextval
I have chosen to execute this code on target.
Among my attempts to solve this problem was to set Create Index option of the CKM Oracle(Create Index for the I$ Table) to No so that it wont create any index on the flow table. I also tried to use the simple CKM Oracle km . Both solutions allowed the interface to execute successfully without any errors, but the data was not loaded into the target table.
When I right-click on the Prj_Dim_Region data store and choose Data, it shows empty. Pressing the SQL button in this data store shows a dialog box " New Query" where I see this query:
    select * from NOVELTYFURNITUREDW.PRJ_DIM_REGION
But when i press OK to run it, I get this error message:

    Hi Cezar,
Can u plz help me with this scenario?
I have one Oracle data model with 19 source tables and one SQL Server data model with 10 target tables. I have created 10 interfaces which use JournalizedDataOnly on one of the tables in the interface; e.g in interface for DimCustomer target table, I have 2 tables, namely Customer and Address, but the journalizing filter appear only on Customer table and this option is disabled for Address automatically.
Now I want to create a package using OdiWaitForLog event detection. Is it possible to put all these 10 interfaces in just one package to populate the target tables? It works fine when I have only one interface and I use the name of one table in the interface for Table Name parameter of OdiWaitForLogData event, but when I try a comma seperated list of table names[Customer, Address] this error happens
java.sql.SQLException: ORA-00942: table or view does not exist
and if I use this method <%=odiRef.getObjectName("L","model_code","logical_schema","D")%>, I get this error
    "-CDC_SET_NAME=Exception getObjectName("L", "model_code", "logical_schema", "D") : SnpLSchema.getLSchemaByName : SnpLschema does not exist" "
Please let me know how to make it work?
Do I need to create separate data models each including only those tables which appear in their corresponding interface and package? Or do I need to create multiple packages each with only one journalized interface to populate only one target table?
Thank you for your time in advance.
    Regards,
    Neel

  • Connection with SQL Server 2000 to SQL Developer 1.2 Migration Workbench

    Hi all,
I keep getting the following error with setup for SQL Developer 1.2 Migration Workbench connection to SQL Server 2000 database:
"Status: Failure -Network error IOException: Connection refused:connect"
I can access the Microsoft SQL Server 2000 database with username
and password using Enteprise Manager. However for some odd
reason the Oracle SQL Developer 1.2 cannot connect to it.

I was having this problem too. I'll mangle this explanation, but Our SQLServer instance was on a local server with some named DNS something. So, to get to the server, we used theservername.outdomain instead of an IP. We could never get it to connect through the named server. We got an SQLServer instance going on a server that we could connect to through a regular IP, and it connected just fine.
Also, are you using the JTDS driver, or microsofts driver? We have only been able to connect with the JTDS driver. http://jtds.sourceforge.net/

  • Question about load Microsoft JDBC driver for Sql server 2000

    Hello,
I have some problem while trying load the sqlserver2000 jdbc driver
My program is a third party application and it works with the other type 4 JDBC driver well. So I tried to use Microsoft SQL server 2000 JDBC driver instead.
I installed JDBC driver and set up the classpath.
    My error message is:
"Driver class 'com.microsoft.jdbc.sqlserver.SQLServerDriver' could not be loaded"
Is above message means that my classpath setup correctly but the application could not load the class or the application could not find the jar file which containes the driver class?
By the way, the third party application I was using to load this JDBC driver does not certified to use microsoft JDBC driver. But I don't think it matter?
    Thanks for your help

    Hello,
I have some problem while trying load the
    sqlserver2000 jdbc driver
My program is a third party application and it works
with the other type 4 JDBC driver well. So I tried to
use Microsoft SQL server 2000 JDBC driver instead.
I installed JDBC driver and set up the classpath.
    My error message is:
    "Driver class
    'com.microsoft.jdbc.sqlserver.SQLServerDriver' could
    not be loaded"
That is an unusual message. Presumably you did not see "NoClassDefFoundError". If you see that it means the class could not be found.
Is above message means that my classpath setup
correctly but the application could not load the class
or the application could not find the jar file which
    containes the driver class?
By the way, the third party application I was using to
load this JDBC driver does not certified to use
microsoft JDBC driver. But I don't think it matter?
It could. Perhaps the app expects a certain functional level and the driver doesn't support that. And so it bails with the message that you see.
Or it could mean that you have do something special because it has its own class path, and the driver is not in that.

  • ODBC errors for Oracle Migration Workbench and SQL Server 2000 on Windows

    Hi all-
I setup a new ODBC connection for the Oracle 10g Migration Workbench to MS SQL Server 2000 on Windows XP and keep getting the following errors when I try to
either test the new ODBC connection to MS SQL Server 2000 for use with the Oracle Migration Workbench tool. Goal is to fix these errors so that I can migrate our test SQL Server 2000 databases to Oracle 10g.
    Current configuration
    - Oracle 10.1 Migration Workbench
    - Oracle 10g Database (target)
    - MS SQL Server 2000 (source database)
    -Windows XP
-ODBC 3.85.1117 driver for Windows XP with SQL Server and Oracle
    Errors:
    I. When I test the ODBC connection:
Microsoft SQL Server ODBC Driver Version 03.85.1117
    Running connectivity tests...
    Attempting connection
[Microsoft][ODBC SQL Server Driver][TCP/IP Sockets]Specified SQL server not found.
    TESTS FAILED!
Now here is what has me totally confused:
I can use the command line ISQL to access the database on the server and IP is all correct and port is available. So I can access the SQL Server database fine it is when I try to setup ODBC that it gives me problems.
Any tips how to get this ODBC working?
    Thanks

    1. Jing Jin. If you had READ the post you would have seen that installing later versions is NOT an option.
    2. Not supported does NOT mean does NOT work, as Balmukund pointed out in the referenced thread.  The site that this databases supports is using ASP which is also NOT supported by Microsoft.  As it turns out Balmukund's solution actually turns
out to be the correct solution.  I installed SS2K and its Service pack 4 on the machine last night.  Good answer Balmukund. as we say in the Navy, "BRAVO ZULU!!"  which means "WELL DONE!!
    3. Tom Li I just posted the question less than 48 hours ago.  My last post was less than 24 hours ago.  I think I have the right to be given the opportunity to determine whether a reply is the answer or not. I understand you don't like unanswered
posts sitting around for weeks, months or years. (I don't like it either as I have a few that are still unanswered after several years.)  But you should not be showing replies as answers before I even get a chance to see them, much less try them out.
You should also not be showing replies as answers which don't address the criteria of the question.  I specifically stated that I had to install SS2K.  I went on to state, "And before anyone asks I need to install this version because that is what
the customer is using and I need to duplicate their databases."  So the correct answer, if in fact SS2K did not work on Windows 7, would have been a virtual machine answer, as suggested on the thread Balmukund referenced.  So before you mark a reply
as an answer read the question.

  • Problem of loading the Driver of MS SQL Server 2000

Is there anyone in the Sun Forum who will help me?
I have already tried to give the full class path of .jar files to the System and User Variables but received the same error. I am doing BCA and developing my very first Project on Java.
Please, tell me one thing. When I had installed MS SQL Server 2000 at my system first time then the 3 JAR files were present in the lib folder and all my codings of connectivity were working properly. Then due to some reasons, I had to format C drive and installed the MS SQL Server 2000 again then in the lib folder the 3 JAR files were not there. How it has happened? Then, I installed the downloaded driver of MS SQL Server 2000 for JDBC 1.4 then the JAR files were installed in the related downloaded driver folder. I manually copied them to the lib folder of MS SQL Server and gave that path to the Classpath of System and User Variables, but it didn't work.
I am not understanding the reason that The Software which worked previously is not working correctly in second time of installing.

I have really no idea what in earth "the same error" is which you're talking about. Be specific. Post the exception type, message and stacktrace.

Don't bother with the System CLASSPATH, more often than not, it is not even used.
When running from an IDE, set the project's library preferences.
When running from a web container/application server configure the applications libraries in the server/container, see it's documentation.
When running an applet, configure the [ codebase and/or archive |http://java.sun.com/docs/books/tutorial/deployment/applet/html.html] tags properly.
When running from the command line with the [ "-cp" |http://java.sun.com/javase/6/docs/technotes/tools/solaris/java.html] option, the System CLASSPATH is ignored.
When running from the command line with the "-jar" option, both the System CLASSPATH path and the "-cp" option are ignored, configure the [manifest file|http://java.sun.com/docs/books/tutorial/deployment/jar/downman.html] properly.
