LoadSound doesn't support all device formats?

According to the flash lite 2.x documentation. loadSound can
load and play device sounds. This works fine with mp3 and smaf.
However when trying to loadSound an amr audio (both NB and WB) I
get a bad sound data error message (probelm with content: 7)
Has anyone encountered this problem yet?

Yes, this is an issue and there are other device sound
formats that do not load in addition to AMR. I believe that Adobe
does not have a way to poll the device about supported audio
formats, so they have to rely on their own information which is
incomplete. Hopefully this will be fixed in some future release.
By the way, what phone are you testing that supports SMAF and
FL2.0?

  • Hi, Could you please suggest a video player, that support all video formats?

Hi, Could you please suggest a video player, that support all video formats?

This is probably as good as it gets:
    https://itunes.apple.com/app/media-player-playerxtreme-hd/id456584471
You won't find anything that plays "all video formats", because of the restrictions built into the iOS.

  • Flash file doesn't support all browsers

    hi guys,
I have flash file which accepts data from Javascript using
swfObject.js and displays it dynamically(using addVariable). But
the problem occurring is it doesn't support all browsers. I have IE
6 and Mozilla Firefox 3 with Flash player version 10 installed in
it. I am not able to run the file on it. I can't understand why as
the code written in as3 and in javascript is right. Could you
    suggest some solution?

    Just as a thought,
Following are the reasons when you can't see a flash movie.
    1. No flash player installed
    2. Browser is not having Javascript enabled and noscript tag
is removed from HTML published from Flash.
    3. Incorrect path for swf is inserted in the HTML page.
    4. There is an error at the very begining of the flash file
which is stopping it to show properly.
    5. Browser settings are disabling object/embed tags.
I am able to see your link in both IE7 and FF3 browsers. So
what I think is, in your case the reason is 5 or 2.

  • Does ipad support all PDF formats?

There are 6 editions and roughly 11 different flavors of PDF formats that respective IPAD readers could potentially be using and I just wanted to make sure that IPAD is already supporting them all.  Does anyone know what flavor of PDF
    iAnnotate
    GoodReader
    is using?

I'm fairly confident that the iPad doesn't support them all. It supports the most common variants, certainly. Adobe is pretty much always in the process of constructing a new variant of PDF to keep the open-source crowd at bay.
It isn't quite accurate to talk of "iPad" PDF support either. The iPad supports only what iPad apps support. If they wanted to, Adobe could write their own iPad app that supported all PDF variants. The iPad may even have better PDF support than MacOS X. There is a GeoPDF app for the iPad, but not for MacOS X.
May I ask why you ask?

  • Received error message, this ipod doesn't support this video format...

The last tv shows I bought from itunes won't go on my ipod touch (1st gen). I'm getting an error message, this format not supported by this ipod. NO ONE is able to help me with this..any ideas?? I've reloaded all my software, etc. restored my ipod...

Can you play them in itunes?
Also you should have gotten 2 versions. One HD (high def) and the other SD.
iPods can only use the SD version, since they don't have high def screens.

  • Safari 3.1.2 doesn't support all websites completely.

I just downloaded Safari 3.1.2. I had previously been using Safari 2.?. Both versions have problems with some websites. For instance, with 3.1.2 on photo.walgreens.com I can't delete photos previously uploaded. I don't have this problem with Firefox. I still use Safari as my default browser because it is faster.
Should this be reported as a bug? Thanks,
    Owen

    That's a good conclusion.
There are web standards. Web designers are getting a little better about conforming to them, but it's not an easy thing to do and satisfy client companies and customers all at once. And some web designers are just plain lazy about it.
There are standards that the developers of web browsers should adhere to, as well. Developers these days have been doing an increasingly better job of following the standards.
I suppose that the answer is that organizations such as MS or Mozilla want to achieve some competitive advantage by introducing some nice feature that is unique to their product.
The single most guilty party in all of this over the years has been Microsoft in its completely nonstandard development of Internet Explorer. IE has been the "industry standard" for many years simply due to the high numbers of people who use it, but it has been the least standard by far, both in terms of following any set of agreed-upon web rendering standards and in terms of being consistent from one version to the next. IE is notorious for introducting IE-only features that web designers would then design for, creating a seemingly endless loop of problems such as those you have been seeing.
Things are getting better in the web standards picture, but we're still not all the way there.

  • [ANE] Repacking for simulator and fake support of device

    Hello,
I have a question about anes, here is my problem : Some of the anes I use don't have simulator support or all-device support (only android, only iOS,...)
In my code, I of course test the device before calling anything so its fine from a runtime point of view (never had a runtime issue).
But, it does refuse to compile/launch. I know I could use multiple projects, compiler constants for imports, blablabla, but the best way to increase productivity would be to have them support all-device and simulator even if they do nothing with it.
    So what I tried :
    - rename ane as zip
    - edit extensions.xml, add proper stuff
    - rezip and rename back, and of course, don't call anything in the ane if you know your support is just "fake" for that device
It works for simulator BUT if I use the rezipped ane in a iOS build (which was supported), it refuses to build a release. So I have to switch ane back and forth.
It doesn't work if trying to add iOS support (well it compiles but when installing on device, install never ends). I tried adding a fake library.swf for iOS with only empty functions but didn't work.
Haven't encountered the case where I need to add new Android support so I can't say for that one.
Anyone knows of a quick way (which doesn't involve recreating all the concerned anes, since I don't have source code for them) ? Would create a huge productivity boost here.
I hope question is clear enough.

Understand that I'm not going to tell you that what you want is wrong. There's nothing wrong with wanting Flash on a tablet. The only problem is that the future of Flash no longer exists for tablets.
    fredfromewa wrote:
So, does anyone know if real Java and Flash support is indeed coming in the future or am I going to have to either return or sell these IPADS and go switch a competitor...
You can go to a competitor, but it won't help you in the long run since Adobe Flash on mobile is dead, and by the hand of Adobe themselves, not Apple. Here's the official announcement from 2 months ago:
Adobe Abandons Mobile Flash, Backs HTML5
You do have one alternative left: Buy a Windows-based tablet now. Why now? Because in mobile versions of Windows 8, Microsoft will no longer allow plug-ins like Flash:
Microsoft Follows Apple, Bans Flash From Windows 8 Tablet Software
In fact, even Microsoft's own Flash competitor, Silverlight, will not be allowed to run in tablet versions of Windows 8, only in desktop Windows.
In the end, your last alternative will be to buy a Windows-based tablet that, ironically, does not run the tablet version of Windows, and then never upgrade it to Windows 8 mobile. You will probably be able to be run Flash then. But since the tablet will run desktop Windows, have fun with 30 minutes of battery life, maybe less after you boot Flash...
    fredfromewa wrote:
....they could easily have a much larger majority of the market with tablets by supporting Java and Flash.
Uh...all the way up to now, the iPad practically has the entire tablet market to itself. How is it possible that Flash would have made that significantly larger?
Seen from a different perspective...how is it that all the tablets that support Flash have completely failed to make a dent in the tablet market?
Neither angle seems to support what you're saying.

  • Doesn't sync all music

    iTunes 10.5.0.142
    iPhone 4 - iOS 5.0.1 (9A405)
After sync, the phone shows all the music I've got in iTunes, but only some of them plays!
In iTunes I have 955 musics, in the iPhone the same 955 musics...

Have you got any songs unchecked in your library and the "Only sync checked items" option in switched on for the iPod? That would prevent songs syncing. Do you know which ones aren't syncing? If you do what format are they and what iPod are you using? The iPod Shuffle for instance doesn't support all the file formats that the larger iPods do:
    iPod: About compatible song formats
    iPod shuffle: Compatible audio formats

  • HT4101 When does Apple support the SDXC format?

I just bought the iPad 3 and the camera connection kit. However, it doesn't support the SDXC format. I read a note about this from august 24, 2010, alomost 2 years in the past. And since then...

i had 64gb sdxc. CCK didn't recognized it.
so i run CMD in windows 7
    DISKPART
    LIST DISK
    SELECT DISK 2(in my case)
    CLEAN
CREATE PARTITION PRIMARY SIZE=32000 OFFSET=16384(dont know why, such offset was earlier)
    LIST PARTITION
    SELECT PARTITION 1(in my case)
    FORMAT FS=FAT32 QUICK
    EXIT
now i have 32 gb SDXC instead of 64g but it's compatible with my Camera Connection Kit.
if you have sdxc card 32g or less, i think this might help.

  • Wave Studio says "device doesn't support this format"

?Wave Studio says "device doesn't support this format"'I have a X-Fi Extreme Music card I'm using in Windows 7 (x64). I haven't had any issues with the card or the software until I installed a codec pack: Shark Windows 7 Codec pack. It worked OK, but when I try to play a WAV file in Creative Wave Studio (7), I get an error message: Sorry, your audio device doesn't support this format". Weird, since Wave Studio's "nati've" format is WAVs!!
So I uninstalled Shark, uninstalled Wave Studio, and uninstalled (from Device Manager) my sound card. Rebooted, then reinstalled the driver for the sound card, rebooted and reinstalled Wave Studio. I still get the error message and can't play WAVs in Wave Studio. The version is 7.2, and the driver is 6.0..375 (5/5/200). Anyone have any ideas?
    Thanks,
    Laner

CThe point is moot now, I've gotten a new computer and installed the card in that machine. Everything works great now. I would imagine there was a registry issue that didn't get cleaned, or something similar. Still, it would have been nice to resolve the problem, as someone else might experience the same issue and could find a way to help get it taken care of.
    Cheers,

  • Video does not play: "Either windows doesn't support the item's file format......"

    Error message
"Either windows doesn't support the item's file format or the content doesn't match the extension"
I have both a Yoga and a Thinkpad 2. The Yoga is running Win 8 and the Thinkpad 2 has 8.1 Preview.
I have copied multiple video files which are in either .avi or .mp4 containers.
Some will play and some will not. I have installed all sorts of codec packages and players and the problem is the same. I though it might be a container problem so I tried to convert the file and the converter I used did not work.
Searched the Internet and nothing really useful was found.
Then I discovered a common thread. In the files that played, the codec information displayed when checking in properties and the ones that did not play, did not have the information.
I have a video file on a USB flash drive and checked the properties and the information was there and I could play it from the flash drive. I copied it to my desktop and the file would not play. In checking, the codec information was not present.
There seems to be an error in copying files where the requisite codec information is not being transferred.
I have tried this multiple times and multiple permutations of transferring. Sometimes it will play from the desktop and will not play after transfer to the microSD card.
Each time when it plays, the information is there and each time it does not play, the information is not there.

The problem is the period at the end. This system assumes it
