Localisation problem

Hi,
I'm trying Robohelp to see if I can use it to create localised versions of our help files.
I have the old .hlp project .hpj file and .rtf files from all of the languages that we need to create.
- For Windows_1252 languages I can use Microsoft's HTML workshop with no problems.
- For non Windows_1252 languages such as Russian (Windows_1251) the htm files created by the MS tool show the correct page content but the Titles and Keywords are corrupted and the href links are missing.
Hence my attempt to try Robohelp.
So far I've found that importing the hpj file and the desired rtf file works fine again for Windows_1252 languages. But that's not much help as I could already create those in the MS tool.
When I try to import the hpj file with a non Windows_1252 rtf file such as Russian, I can create a chm and all of the links seem to be intact, but all of the characters including the page content characters are corrupted.
This can be seen in the htm file displayed in Robohelp as soon as the new project import has finished. I've tried setting the language for all the .htm files to Russian, I've set the language for the project to Russian and I've picked Russian as the language in the .chm build dialog. Unfortunately I think none of these are likely to work as the characters have already been corrupted in the htm files created during the import.
I've tried the Robohelp build on XP with the Locale set to Russian, and I've tried it on Windows 7 x64 with the Russian language pack installed, Russian selected as the display language and Russian set as the Locale.
I notice the codepage in the Robohelp created htm's are set as UTF-8 as opposed to Windows_1251.
I'm pretty sure this is just something I'm doing wrong as the MS HTML Workshop manages to get the correct characters out of the rtf page content.
Any idea where I might be going wrong? Is there someway to define the language of the RTF before the import process?

Hello Andrea,
This should take atleast 3-4 weeks. Apple not getting database from skyhook is still a rumour.
Have you updated the iOS to 6?
Can you try these,
1.     Turn off Location Services
2.     Reset the Network Settings in iPad
3.     Turn ON Location Service,
or just try resetting the iPad completely once.
Also if you have given the ADSL modem , & when it comes back this should have different IP & iPad should be bindign to the IP & not to the MODEM.
Regards,
Vinay

  • Localised problem?

    I'm curious, can everyone who is having battery/wifi issues please post here as to which country and which part of that country you live in, i want to see if there's some connection (perhaps a bad batch got sent to one particular country?)

    Dear MJ,
    thanks for the reply and I am really sorry for my delay. Actually I got vexed waiting for any reply and stopped opening this forum.
    And coming to your suggestion,
    Ya, I tried assigning font at design time also, but nothing worked for me.
    Even a textbox control also cannot show few characters which are said to be complex in malayalam script.
    So, do u feel getting BOBJ support is the only way for this?
    Thanks once again for your interest.

  • Strange problem trying to print "" symbol

    Hello,
    I am trying to to print "" from a system.out.println,
    eg. System.out.println("Price: " + price);
    But I keep getting "" instead of "".
    So I tried System.out.println("Price: \163" + price), but now I keep getting "s" instead of "".
    This has really confused me. My system settings are all set to UK, and I have no trouble printing the "" character in any other program. My keyboard is working fine. I have no problem printing
    System.out.println("Price: $" + price); so I'm guessing its some sort of localisation problem.
    Are there any localised Java settings I'm unaware of? I've tried to find any but can't.
    Has anyone else had this problem, or have any possible solutions I might try? Any and all suggestion are welcome!

    java does unicode, but a tty or DOS does ASCII 7 bit (or in some cases up to 8 bit) the pound symbol is 0x9c. This is a windows 2000 debug dump for the '' symbol:

  • BT Broadband, style over substance?

    I have now been a BT Broadband customer for 6 days. I have had use of my BT broadband for exactly 3 of the 6 days I’ve been customer.
    Day 1-3 - 25th, 26 & 27th September 2010
    My first impressions were very good. Why?
    Slick sales front end. Call answered in the UK within minutes. UK call centre.
    Competitive package, clear delivery / activation dates etc.
    Engineer and equipment arrive on time.
    Impressed with the quality of the equipment (hub and phone).
    Getting consistent speeds of 6-7mbps against a BT predicted speed 5-6mbps.
    Day 4 - Tuesday 27 September 2010
    I get home from work (Brighton, Sussex, BN10) and try to log onto the internet. Internet Explorer opens fine, as does Goggle. However, no web pages will load. I try loading web pages through both the address bar and Goggle search engine – both fail to load any tried website (BBC NEWS, SKY NEWS, BT, ENGADGET, TECH RADAR, YOU TUBE, FACEBOOK, MET OFFICE and SPEAKEASY BANDWIDTH TESTER).
    As I’m rather well drilled in tech self-help, so I try the following trouble shooting techniques.
    Turn my hub off for approx 5mins and also my laptop. No change in symptoms.
    Check all wirers are connected properly, all fine.
    Check hub, all lights solid blue.
    Get my work laptop out to try the connection, exactly the same problem.
    Try to connect with my Xbox 360 – connects to hub, but no internet.
    Try with Playstation 3 – connects to the hub, but no internet.
    Try with my HTC Desire phone – connects to the hub and google, but will not load web pages.
    Turn off my hub for another 5 minutes and retry steps 1-6, still the same problem.
    My HTC Desire Phone (Android 2.2) is on the Three (3) network and can act as a wireless hotspot, so I try all of the above equipment to connect to the internet – ALL of the devices in steps 1-6 connect to the internet and load any web page that I desire, by both the address bar and search engine.
    I then, having exhausted all viable self-help options call BT. This where my impression of the company deteriorates and also my expectations are not met. Why?
    It takes 15 minutes to be connected to tech support, notably slower than the BT sales team.
    My call is now diverted offshore. The line is particularly bad and I have trouble understand the operative’s accent.
    I then, despite explaining the self-help steps mentioned above, am asked to turn my hub on and off and wait 3 minutes, no change.
    I’m then asked which operating system I use, to which I respond one laptop has Windows 7 and one Laptop has Windows XP and both consoles operate their own OS.
    The BT Tech support then tells me that the results of a line test confirm that I’m connected to the Internet and it’s something to do with my equipment!
    Let’s just consider point 5 above. BT are suggesting that overnight my 2 laptops, Playstation 3, Xbox 360 and HTC phone has all developed localised faults and thereby ‘it’s my issue’. OK, I then pointed out that in fact all of my equipment happily connected to the Internet via Three (3) mobile broadband Network and thereby his assertion that it is a localised problem is without merit.
    At this point over an hour of my evening has been wasted.
    After being put on hold for about 10 minutes I’m politely informed that in fact there is a major DNS fault in my area and that BT engineers are working tirelessly to resolve the issue with an expected resolution time of 12:30pm Wednesday 29 September 2010. Call ends and I go to bed happy knowing that tomorrow I can watch Jamie Oliver’s American’s food revolution on 4 on demand.
    Day 5 – Wednesday 29 September 2010
    I get home from work 7pm and try to log onto the internet, exactly the same problem. I try all of the steps I tried yesterday day, same result. Goggle but no web pages will load.
    This is where my patience wears thin. I get up at 05:30am every morning. I travel 2 hours into London. I work 9 hours, generally without a lunch and then travel 2 hours back to Brighton. I generally like to be in bed by 10pm so on average I have about 3 hours to myself each evening, this time I consider precious. Having wasted an hour of it yesterday, I was now doing the same thing again.
    I call BT tech support. Before I am connected to BT technical support a pre-recorded message informs me that a major fault in my area has been resolved and that I needed to turn my hub off for 3 minutes and also restart my computer. Done that, no change, so I hold for tech support.
    The call is a bit of a joke.
    20 minute wait to be connected. Missing the Champions League game. My girlfriend is giving me grief saying cancel the contract, blah blah blah.
    I’m then told to turn everything off again, check the wires, advise what antivirus I use and operating system so on and so forth.
    I politely explain that all of my equipment is fine. My work laptop has been working fine all day. My personal laptop connects to the internet fine through my phone, as does my PS3 and Xbox 360.
    I then have to explain to tech support that there was a BT problem in my area yesterday, that was supposedly fixed this afternoon and could he please read my notes.
    I’m then told that my connection has been tested and is fine, I’m also then asked if I’ve done a speed test. At this I laugh.
    I respond yes I checked it at the weekend (Sat and Sun) and each time I was getting 6-7mps http://www.speedtest.net I was also able to stream HD You Tube while downloading Kick ASS in HD from PlayStation Network.
    I’m then asked, have you done it today? To that I respond that it’s hard for me to run a bandwidth test without being able to load websites!
    I then ask the operative if anyone else in my area is experiencing the same problem?!?!? Why I have to suggest this I don’t know.
    After approx 40 minutes of talking to tech support I’m again told that there is a major DNS fault in my area and that BT engineers are working tirelessly to resolve the issue with an expected resolution time of 24 – 48 hours.
    This is not acceptable. I am paying for a service which I am not receiving. So far I’ve had 50% availability based on the length of time I’ve had the service. The tech support operatives I have spoken to, who have really tried there best to help me, are simply not empowered to resolve my problem. I’ve wasted hours of my time trying to resolve the problem. I’ve frankly had enough.
    Why I have chosen to post the above in the forum is because I feel conned. The sales front end of the company is slick, fast and professional. Once you’re a customer it’s slow, uninformed and the actual product based on my experiences to date is not fit for purpose.
    Hopefully tonight I will log in tonight I will be able to enjoy the service that I’m duly paying BT for. If not, I will be sending back my equipment and taking my custom else where.
    Perhaps someone from BT might read the above and provide me with an informed response?

  • Re: What happened this morning, albeit briefly?

    The same thing happened to me, only with apple equipment. Imac wouldn't open pages, nor my iphone and then as if by magice everything started working again, I live in Worcestershire, could it be a localised problem?
    Regards Drusy

    Probably just one of the home hub 3s oddities which seem to get reported quite often on this forum.
    There are some useful help pages here, for BT Broadband customers only, on my personal website.
    BT Broadband customers - help with broadband, WiFi, networking, e-mail and phones.

  • North of England Outage

    Let's start from the dual premise that: a) I'm not a cretin; and b) I do have a working knowledge of IT. A summary of my latest issue (there are always problems with BT but I've no alternative except carrier pigeon): - About 18 hours ago BB speed dropped to 0.008Mbps from its usual (already poor) 1.0 to 1.2Mbps. - I live in a very rural area and BT's service is habitually terrible so I paid no attention until this morning when I phoned 151 to report a fault. - A recorded message said there had been a major BB fault in my area but which was now resolved and that rebooting the router should clear matters. It didn't. - I rang 151 again and spoke to a polite enough person but whose first language was obviously not English; after much explaining (I do speak plainly, it's my job) he put me on hold to carry out some tests. I was (seemingly accidentally) disconnected. - I immediately rang 151 again; different person, same language shortcomings (I don't speak his language but I don't need to for my job - except when dealing with BT, of course). This time I explained all the previous steps I've bored you with but he plainly didn't listen and we went through all the same pointless rigmarole, he reading out irritating standard phrases, parrot-fashion until he too conducted some tests. These tests showed the wider area problem was resolved (ie exactly what the recorded message had said) and that I should have no issues, at which point he deliberately disconnected the call (I wasn't being abusive). - I called back. Different person, worse English. I went through everything, she didn't listen, she conducted tests and said that although the wider area problem had been resolved it might be some time before I my particular problem was resolved in that engineers where currently working through all customers, one-by-one, to restore their service; I should expect resolution by 14.52, the time the engineers had first estimated the problem would take to cure. She then told me the problem could not be "escalated" (ie drawn to the attention of the engineering team) until after that time had elapsed, even though that information was in direct conflict with the advice both the recorded messages and previous 151 staff had given. - However, with no apparent alternative, I accepted the situation but asked whether she had the facility to mark on my account the particular difficulties she and I had discussed in order that I did not have to waste more time later (when doubtless the problem would not be resolved) going through everything again? Oh yes Sir, I'll do that. That was aother lie. - I looked online (evidently I can get online, it's just very slow). Supposedly the "North of England" issue has been resolved, nice green tick. No it hasn't. - So I called 08001114567 (given on the green tick page) where the recorded message says BT are aware of a major fault affecting my area which should be resolved within one hour. Yet more self-contradiction by BT. - Anyway, it wasn't resolved within an hour so I called again. Same message but held to speak with a human. Same language barrier but better intent; even offered to phone me tomorrow to ensure my problem had been resolved. But still no solution, not even the germ of the possibilty of a whiff of some outcome more satisfactory than "Wait and see what happens.". It's bizarre. For any commercial organisation (pet alone a communications company) BT make it extremely difficult to speak to any of their staff and, when one finally gets through it's to somebody who is unable to communicate other than by reading standard phrases which, seemingly, they don't understand in any event. I am SO heartily sick of BT but what will be done about it? Experience suggests nothing.

    This is a customer to customer self help forum the only BT Presence here are the Forum Moderators Posts made here do not go to BT  there are no other posts her showing the same problem as yours so it is very possible  you may still have a localised problem that is stil being worked on

  • Moderators just as bad as Customer 'Service'

    I have been emailing a moderator trying to get my problem sorted out.
    The problem is incredibly easy to put right, but BT are not interested.
    My problem is the HUB2 wireless, that everybody knows is an issue.
    When the wireless drops, I have to rest it from the socket, meaning my usual speed of 16meg is dropped to below 1meg due to frequent disconnections, making my broadband almost unusable, and my BT Vision totally unusable.
    The problem is the Hub2, not my equipment, not my line, and not local interfearance.
    The problem is that the Hub2 simply cant handle more than general surfing traffic (emails, google, wiki etc) being done.
    As soon as I use my xbox, go to iplayer, you tube, bt speedtester for eample, the wireless will freeze.
    This has happend on all 4 Hub2 replacements as well.
    The solution?
    To replace the Hub2 with any other brand of router, because I have never had a problem before, with netgear, thompson or sagem.
    I have telephoned 'tech support' numerous times, and each time Im told to reset the hub and they will do a line test.... pathetically useless!!
    I have been called a lier, I have been told I dont know what Im talking about and BT is not handing out equipment that doesnt work.
    I have been told there have been no other problems with the Hub2, looking on this forum there obviously is.
    I have also been told there are lots of problems with the Hub 2.
    I emailed a mod. on here.
    His reply?
    Im lying, and BT arent going to do anything to help.
    Im going to copy/paste the email below.
    What a pathetically awful company BT is.
    Below is a copy/paste of email between me and a moderator.....
    ------Marc------

    The moderator has just telephoned me after reading this post.
    He has sourced a hub3 and it has been put in the post, so I should receive it tomorrow.
    Good job I have a week off work
    It seems that the moderators can make things happen, and I have thanked Craig for his help, and appologised for being abit of a pain.
    If only the rest of BT behaved like Craig has, then all the customers would be happy.
    Meanmint, there is an exsisting problem with the Hub2, it is well reported, and numerous customers have reported the same problem with the replacement.
    I can understand it is hard to understand if you have a hub2 that works for you, but I can assure there is no localised problem, and the problem is definately the Hub2 wireless.
    Dont ask me why there is a problem, Im not a technician, however I do know there is a problem.
    I can only assume it is down to the different way you and I use the internet.
    It seems to affect people with heavy internet traffic, such as me.
    When I am doing general surfing, like checking emails, posting here, etc, it works fine.
    As soon as I go to iplayer, use xbox, speedtester etc, after a few minutes the wireless will fail to respond.
    ------Marc------

  • Removing localised files, any problems that could develop?

    This might be a dumb question....I was just concerned if I removed all localised files except english language ones, would that affect system fonts in other languages?
    Would it affect language support in web browsers (that is, the ability to display sites in languages other than english)?
    I was just confused as in Windows adding language support was connected in a way to installing fonts etc and also effected Internet Explorer.
    To the best of my knowledge localisation files are there only so the program can display the text in the menu's and the program itself in different languages. I just wanted some confirmation and clarification, thanks.

    No and yes (maybe). I use DeLocalizer http://www.bombich.com/software/local.html to remove all foreign .lproj files, but can still display some webpages in their native language, although I can't understand them. I've been doing this for over four years without any problem.

  • Problem: Localisation with JSTL FMT and Struts

    Hello!
    I am working on my first project with JSP / Servlets including JSTL and Struts Tag Libraries.(plus tiles from JSTL)
    I am trying to use localised messages, to deploy a webshop in multiplle languages.
    I allready managed to accomplish that the messages are read out of a file ApplicationResources.en.properties and another one ApplicationResources.de.properties which will be chosen by the preferences of the browser (JSTL FMT:message tag).
    The strange this is, this only works the first time the servlets are compiled. After I opened the servlet once in my browser, I am allways seeing the message in that language that was used first, even if I set the the locale trough a link in the URL. I am using this code:
    http://localhost:8080/Inkrement18/buchladenseite.jsp?lang=en
    <c:if test='${param.lang == "de"}'>
    DE <fmt:setLocale value="de" scope="session" />
    <fmt:setBundle basename="ApplicationResources" scope="session" />
    </c:if>
    <c:if test='${param.lang == "en"}'>
    EN <fmt:setLocale value="en" scope="session" />
    <fmt:setBundle basename="ApplicationResources" scope="session" />
    </c:if>It seems to me, the servlet is compiled once, and afterwards the locale does not get checked anymore. Is that possible?
    When I delete the compiled servlets from the work directory by hand, my link to change the locale manually works once, till I delete the servlets again (the session does not get killed by deleting the servlets!)
    My webserver is Jakarta Tomcat 5.5.9 and IDE Is eclipse.
    I am not sure if it matters here, but the main page consists of 4 parts like banner, menu, main-page, footer which gets assembled trough "tiles".
    Most submenues like shopping basket / catalogue are action servlets, realised with struts, calling another .jsp page by forward.
    Any ideas are really apreciated - I have no idea where to look for the error!
    If you need any more input from my side, please let me know!
    Best regards
    Jan

    Hey Experts!
    Nobofy has a clue on this? I have really no clue where to start to look for the problem...
    Cheers...Jan

  • Problem in Displaying Data for Localised Reports

    Hi everyone..I am having a problem with crystal Reports. I need Malayalam unicode( INDIAN Language) to be displayed in the reports, this data will be binded from database.
    And the problem is : After applying this unicode font to the labels of my reports, some labels in the reports are going invisible.Also, previously  if I increase the font size beyond 22, I used to get "A Generic error occured in GDI+".  But after changing the textformat property of the field to "crRtfText" from "crstandardText" , I could resolve this Generic Error.
    And, I could also observe that the last char of the fields in the "details" section is repeating.
    This is the code I am using to apply local font to the labels.
    Private Sub assignfont()
    Dim Mfont As New Font("kartika", 20, FontStyle.Regular,GraphicsUnit.Pixel)
    CType(Report.Section8.ReportObjects("Field45"), CrystalDecisions.CrystalReports.Engine.FieldObject).ApplyFont(Mfont)
    CType(Report.Section8.ReportObjects("Field48"), CrystalDecisions.CrystalReports.Engine.FieldObject).ApplyFont(Mfont)
    End Sub
    And I am calling this function in the form load event of that report.
    Any suggestion on this is greatly appreciated........Thanks in advance..

  • Localisation encoding problem

    I have Solaris 2.7 and JDK 1.2.2 and lastest
    JDBC and SQLJ. I use russian language in KOI8-R encoding. This encoding was supported by JDK,JDBC and SQLJ.
    When I put my text data in simple table then it's Ok. But if I put russian text in CLOB object then I can not recive normal russian text.
    Where are troubles?

    Thanks for your reply
    Yes, i know the BIG5 is for Traditional Chinese and japansese is using like Shift-JIS or EUC.
    So when i try to post japanese in a BIg5 web page, i think it's normal that i can't see it in BIG5 encoding.
    But then i change the Safari default decoding to BIG5 HKSCS, the japanese appers! At the same time i can see the traditional chinese too!
    And if i use Firefox, i can both see the japanese and chinese at the default BIG5 encoding.
    So i simple think maybe safari translate my japanese into BIG5 HKSCS,not Shift-JIS. But if i use Firefox, i can get the same result with only BIG5 encoding, not BIG5 HKSCS. So i am just wondering why it's different between Safari and Firefox with the same BIG5 encoding.
    Following is a example URL
    It's a MAC discussing froum with BIG5 encoding in Taiwan.
    http://ubb.frostyplace.com.tw/viewtopic.php?t=19162
    It's a froum topic posted by me. I input some japanese into this topic
    If you browse this page with Safari BIG5 encoding, you can see a lot of question mark instead of the original japanese word that i and other people posted.
    But if you change the encoding to BIG5 HKSCS, the japanese appears. And if you using Firefox with BIG5 encoding, the japanese appears too.
    So is it someing wrong with Safari's BIG5 encoding or some other reason makes this happen?

  • Genre of imported songs not localised like iTunes songs

    The genres of songs that I purchase in iTunes are in Dutch, because I'm Dutch and therefore the language of my iTunes Store is also Dutch. If I import songs from a CD, however, the genres are in English. The result is that most of the genres are present twice, once in Dutch and once in English. I know how to change the genre of songs, but it's getting rather tedious to clean up my genres every time I import something.
    Is there a way to get the genres in Dutch when importing CD titles? Is this a CDDB issue, an iTunes issue or a OS X localisation issue?
    Regards,
    -Eric

    I ran into the same problem, I think that, If you tab on a song that is on your IPOD, and the song data is grayed-out, I think it means that the song is probably twice on your IPOD and that the iTunes directory can not edit THAT song data for two (or more) files @once. Check if this is the case, sinceI have the same problem,am looking for a way to have One and the same song in more playlists but only keep the song once on the IPOD.

  • Localisation issue in weblogc 8.1 SP6

    Hi,
    I have a problem with localisation issue in Weblogic 8.1 SP6. I'm using the UTF-8 as the encoding schema and it's working fine in Weblogic 8.1 SP5 and the same application is not working in Weblogic 8.1 SP6. All labels are displayed in "?" when I switch to Japanesse locale.
    For your information, I'm using the below technologies in my application.
    1. Struts
    2. Servlets & JSP
    3. Apache Axis
    4. <fmt> tag library (Apache)
    Please help me how to fix this issue.
    Thanks

    Hi,
    Thanks for viewing and resposding to my problem.
    Yes I tried with that setting also, but no change in the result. I also tried with the below given scenario's but not worked.
    1. Tried with Filter by setting the content type.
    2. Tried by placing the content type in header.jsp
    What I noticed is when I place the below snippet in any of the jsp then it'showing the Japanesse charecters in the browser.
    <fmt:setBundle basename="com.axeda.drm.webapp.device.JspResources" var="whichLocaleUsed" scope="session"/>
    <%
    LocalizationContext localizationContext = (LocalizationContext) session.getAttribute("whichLocaleUsed");
    Locale mLocale = localizationContext.getLocale();
    MessageResources messages = MessageResources.getMessageResources("com.resources.JspResources");
    String val = new String(messages.getMessage(mLocale,"jsp.device.model.list_models.page-title"));
    out.println("page_title (1) : "+new String(val.getBytes(),"UTF-8"));
    %>
    but when I use the below code then it's not showing the japanesse charecters in the browser.
    <fmt:bundle basename="com.resources.JspResources"
    prefix="jsp.device.model.list_models.">
    <fmt:message key="page-title"/>
    Please provide some suggestion.
    Thanks
