"lock" values of tax depreciation for previous periods

Hi all,
is it possible to lock calculated values of depreciation for previous periods? We need it for the case when e.g. depreciation key is changed. Then we want preserve the values for previous periods and change only the future values. But please note that we want this for depreciation area, which does not post values to GL.
thanks
Zbynek

Hi,
It did not work for me. I changed the useful life from 30 to 20 yrs and then used menu path Edit/Recalculate values. Then I used the Tx S_ALR_87012936 to display the depreciation values for individual months. But all the values were the same, i.e. the values for previous periods were not kept.
So is there a way to keep these values?
thanks,
Zbynek

  • Customizing setting 'Recalculate depreciation for previous years'

    Dear Experts,
I have requirement where for tax depreciation areas we want the system to recalculate the depreciation for previous years. For e.g.
Asset acquired on 7/1/06 with value 10000
    Useful life: 5 years
Take over date in asset accounting: 9/30/2008
With the above example, I want the system to show me depreciaiton values for the years 2006 and 2007 also in transaction AW01N (Asset Explorer), apart from 2008.
In FI-AA customizing, I have enabled the relevant depreciation areas for recalculation in the node 'Recalculate Depreciation for Previous Years' (Transaction OAYF).
However, when I create the legacy asset and maintain the takeover values, the system just shows me depreciation for 2008 and onwards.
Is there something I am missing? Please advice. I have searched the SAP help and SAP notes, but did not find anything.
    Regards,
    Vishal.

This is not possible.  When you takeover an asset using AS91, it is creating an ANLC entry for that year only.  2008 in your case.  Regardless of when the asset was originally acquired, SAP will only let you report on it back to 2008.
This concept is no different than any other FI/CO legacy conversion.  If the customer is going live on Jan 1st 2008 but they want to do monthly comparison reporting in SAP (Jan 07 and Jan 08), then they need to convert 2007 data.  If they want 2006, they need to load that too.  Etc.
For FI-AA, if the customer wants to view data back to 2006 you would have to change the takeover date to that year and adjust the data as well (accumulated depreciation).

in on asset class i have created 2 assets by using of aso1 after that i acquired one asset for that i run the depreciation for first 5 periods, it has been showing depreciation for those period but if i am trying to run the depreciation for second asset it is not showing first 5 periods why it is not showing? Is there any reason?

    Hi
Repeat run you can do only for the last depreciation period. For the asset which you are tryin to post depreciation from July to Jan, please check the asset value date which you have given while posting the transactions or in the asset master.
If the asset value date is in July, then deprecaition from July - Jan will get posted in the current month depreciation in total. You will not be able to post depreciation individually month wise using AFAB.

  • Post manual/unplanned depreciation in previous period

    Dear Experts,
I really appreciate for your advices on the following issue.
I have posted depreciation up to period 9, 2010. However, there's an unplanned depreciation journal that was missed to be posted on period 8, 2010. Therefore, I tried to create the unplanned depreciation journal on period 8, 2010 (t-code ABAA).
When I tried to execute the depreciation (t-code AFAB) on period 8, 2010 with Repeat, Restart, and Unplanned Posting Run, the depreciation could not be posted. Then I tried to execute the depreciation on period 9, 2010 with Repeat Posting Run and the unplanned depreciation posted through ABAA on period 8, 2010 is posted on period 9, 2010.
I have an objective to post the the unplanned depreciation on period 8, 2010 instead of period 9, 2010 even though the depreciation has been posted up to period 9, 2010.
I really appreciate for your advices on how to post unplanned/manual depreciation on previous period or if there is any other work around available for this matter.
    Thank you.
    Best regards,
    Frans Sunarja

    Hi Frans
    You have 3 options
Option 1 SAP recommended, but too cumbersome
You can reverse the depreciation posting using ABF1
refer this thread for more details
Unable to post depreciation- Error AA730
    Option 2
Else, pass a manual JV to shift the depreciation from current month to previous month.... You can remove the auto posting tick in FS00 for depreciation for the time being
The JV shall be Dep a/c Dr and a Balance sheet a/c credit in Previous period AND opposite entry in current period... This balance sheet account shall be clubbed with Accum Dep a/c in your FSV (financial statement version)
    Option 3
Same as option 2.... Use T code OASV to pass this JV
Use Accum Dep a/c instead of a balance sheet account... OASV will allow you to pass JV into recon account

  • Stock in Transit quantity by batch for previous period

    Hi all,
Is there any way to get the information of stock quantity for stock in transit by batch for previous period?
In standard SAP system, when the stock is issued with reference to STO with movement type 641, the stock will be stored in the system as stock in transit.  As the stock is sit at plant level, the standard SAP report does not show what batch was issued.
I have a requirement to display stock value of previous period down to batch level.  Hence, SIT of what batch of previous period should also be displayed.
Any idea of how this can done, or any workaround solution?
    Thanks.
    Tom

MB5T lists the difference between delivery goods issued and goods receipt to your POs, as so called virtual stock in transfer
MB52 lists the stock in transfer that had been done with inventory managment movements and was updated to MARC table.
you have to find the movements (use MB51) that posted the stock that you can see in MB52.

  • Opening Balances for Previous Periods

    Hi Experts,
There is a client requirement of entering opening balances for GL for previous periods before going live.
eg it is required to have OB for 2006,2007 and 2008 before live transactions are entered into the system.
Please enlighten on how to carry out this.
    Regards,
    Asap

    Hi Asap,
You could only have one OB for one account.  If those OB for different years are for different accounts, it is ok.  Otherwise, you have 2006 OB only. You may create JE to get something like OB for 2007 and 2008.
    Thanks,

  • Vendor evaluation report to be run for previous period

    Hi,
Is the possible to run the Vendor evaluation report for back date.

Depending on the library you are using, can you verify whether you can use one of the following variables?
    1PERIK
    1PERW
    5ACPERI
    6-PERIK
    8WPERIO
All these variables use fiscal periods and not calendar periods, that way you don't have to bother about number of weeks in a period, unless you really need to do the calculation based on number of days in a period.
If your library does not support these variables, then pl copy one of these variables (GS11) with appropriate details into a custom variable and use it in your report.
    Let me know.

  • Manual postings to PCA for previous periods seems to get posted twice

    Dear All,

After running those jobs for previous periods to transfer those entries, some companies and accounts are showing duplicate amounts or just a balance on comparison ledger and not in base ledger. How to correct this.

    Hi
You will have to use 9KE0 or a custom job again to rectify this

  • Can we run KSU5 - Assessment Cycle execute for previous periods

    Dear Gurus,
Can we run KSU5 for previous periods.  Means I have not ran from April 2008 onwards.  Can I run right for all periods.  Any inconsistencies arises for running the KSU5.
    Please guide us.
    Regards
    Srinivas

    Hi Srinivas,
You can run the Cycle for previous periods also using KISR transaction code. Here, you can select the processing period (previous period) and posting period (current period) and the Cycle and the Segments.
Note: If you want the postings to happen in the same corresponding processing periods, you need to check those periods to be open and consider other inconsistencies also.
Pls revert back for further assistance...

  • Costing for previous periods.

    Hi Experts,
Is there any way to do the costing run for previous periods.
I would like to do std. cost estimation for 5th period, but now we are in 6th period.
System giving message as cost estimation can't be saved for past period.
CK075: Planning date is in the past -> cost estimate cannot be saved
    SKS

    Dear Seshagiri,
It's the standard SAP'e bahaviour and there is no meaning in costing for a past date.
    Also in my understanding
1.If your Costing Run date is some future date ,but the Costing Date from,Qty Structure Date,Valuation
date is on system's date, then the system will allow to release the cost and the same can be checked
under Planned Price,Standard price under Current Column in Costing 2 view.
2.If your costing run date is current date & the valuation,Qty structure date is some future date, then the
system will not allow you to release the cost.
    check and revert back.

  • Tax depreciation for vehicles from limited value in Poland

    Hi,
for a polish company I have to define the depreciation for cars. In Poland is for vehicles  the start value for calculation of the tax depreciation lower then the acquisition value of depreciation area "book depreciation". The tax value is limited.
The sample chart of depreciation for Poland is defined:
    01 Book depreciation
02 Depreciation on tax limited value (cars)
    03 Non-deductible tax depreciation (cars)
In rules for takeover was defined that depreciaition area 02 adoped the values of depreciation area 01.
Depreciation area 03 is not a real depreciation area it is defined: 01 Book deprecition - 02 Depreciation on tax limited value (cars).
I don't know the legally rule how to define the limitec tax value.
My question is, how can I define the calculation of tax depreciation from a limited value?
    Thank you!
    Best regards
    Hubert

    Hi,
this is not the aswere of my question.
E.g. I have a care with acquisition of 25.000,-. The start value for calculation in depreciation area 01 is 25.000,-.
The start value for calculation in depreciaiton area 02 is 20.000,-.. The tax limited value is 20.000,-.
How can I define the system to calculate in deprecition area 02 with limited tax value 20.000,-?
    Thank you!

  • Query for Previous Period Accumulated Dep

Can someone suggest me the best way to query the previous period accumulated depreciation for an asset.
I am facing with every way I have tried.
1st Way = Current Accumulated - Current Month Deprn (FA_DEPRN_SUMMARY). But in case of retired assets, the Current Accumulated becomes 0. So, this wudnt be a correct value to display.
2nd Way = Going back one period and taking the Accumulated Depreciation value. This is very problematic in queries. I got error for some dumb scenario I didnt test in the query. Apparently if there are more than 2 rows in FA_DEPRN_DETAIL, then 2 records will return instead of one.
    Can someone help me out.
    Regards

    Hi,
Check why the amounts in accum dep is calculating less amounts?
If your dep key and dep rates are correct, then there is no problem with the dep calculations.
Still if you feel that, a particular asset is to be depreciated more than the planned dep, you must perform a unplanned dep postings with Tcode ABAA
Before doing this you must have been done the config for the unplanned dep via the below tcodes.
    OABU, and AO95.
Then try to post run planned dep with ABAA now, since this will only create an internal asset accounting document for the date 31.03.2009.
So if you run the dep run for the 12 period (if you follow apr-mar) with repeat option and by selecting list assets and execute it.
Here you see an separate dep doc will be generated for unplanned dep for your asset.
    hope this might help you.
    Thanks,
    Srinu
