Looking for D7000 and Tokina 11-16mm Lens Profile
I would think by now someone would have posted this lens profile but I can't find it for the life of me, sorry. I am sure this has been discussed to death but I have downloaded the lens profile creator (haven't figured out how to use it yet) and the Adobe Lens Profile Downloader (doesn't seem to have any third party lens data for the D7000). Any help would be great.
On a side note I am also looking for a lens profile for the Pro-Optic 8mm f/3.5 fisheye, which I knew would be even harder to find, but if anyone has either of those I would greatly appreciate a link to download the profile. Thanks, Scott
There are only Nikon brand lenses in the dB, nothing from Tokina, and nothing for the 11-16mm.

The password is set on the WiFi router providing the service, by the owner of the network to prevent unwanted "guests" accessing the network. The only way to know it is to ask the owner permission to use the network. Otherwise, you have to find a free WiFi hotspot that doesn't require a password.

My mac 10.8 does no have the file, com.apple.desktop. plist I wentto lIbrary, preference and look for it and it is not where in my mac. I also launch time machine and file is no where on my Mac. How do I get this file back?
thanksSystem files are hidden by default in Finder now, search for what you want then click the little + button on the top right of the bar that appears when you do a search. A new bar comes up and click the first box (that says "Kind"), change it to "System Files". Then change the box that says "aren't included" to "are included" and your file should show up.

Found a burned chip. Looking for name and type.
Hello again, AMB group. I looked for similar pictures/ posts, but I did not find something with the detail here. Anyway, I've got a problem where my hard drive won't even spin up (seems like no power to the drive) but everything else checks out fine on the logic board. Micromat TT and the Hardware Test disk give it OKs. So I went through the process of taking out the logic board looking for problems, and I've found a super duper one. Here is a link to the picture of the burned chip, located right below the processor.

I've ordered a couple bad logic boards, hoping one of them will have a salvageable chip. But I'm wondering if this is a programmed, proprietary chip, or if I can get one from Newark or something. I think I will take it to an electronics shop to have them solder the new chip on; I don't have a micro soldering iron.
Look forward to any thoughts on replacing the chip. Of course replacing the logic board is a possibility, but you can see this might be cheaper, because a bad logic board runs less than $15 usually.

Have you tried a different HD and/or tried this HD in an enclosure or another PB? Obviously that chip looks bad, but the motor mechanism or the electronics on the HD could be bad, having nothing to do with the chip.
Was everything working fine (all ports etc.) before this?
Regarding the chip itself: if the HD checks out ok, the chip should be an interesting proposition. I can't recall ever hearing of anyone replacing any soldered on part of a logic board. Even for certified repair shops, the "fix" is to replace the LB, and faulty boards are sent to specialized repair centers with the specialized equipment to tackle the job. I hope you are successful and will post back with results. Good luck. -
Vista looking for drivers and BSODs
I bought a 3TB MyCloud device a few months ago. I cannot get it to work properly with my Windows Vista desktop and support refused to help. They remoted in and accessed the device without using their software and claimed it was a Windows problem, not theirs. When I connect the device directly to my Ubee Wireless Router/Switch, Windows Vista immediately sees it as new hardware and tries to find drivers for it. Of course WD does not provide these. In Device Manager, it shows up under Other Devices with a warning indicator because there are no drivers installed. I was able to copy files to the device, but when I try to access them from the device, my Windows Vista desktop gets a BSOD (this happened after the call to support). I've now disconnected the device from my network as the constant BSODs damaged my computer. The device works with my Windows 8.1 computer, but has problems with my Sony Blu-Ray player connected wirelessly to the network. I've posted about this in a different thread. Is there a way to get this working properly with Windows Vista?

Your solution doesn't relate to my problem. I did not have a problem getting to or seeing the device in Vista. There were two problems and I believe I've cured both of them, though I don't know how. Problem 1: Vista keeps asking for drivers. When I connected the device to my network, Vista would see the device and try to locate drivers as if it had found a new printer. It couldn't find any so I had to close the driver request windows without finding drivers. The device then would show up in Device Manager under Other Devices with a yellow exclamation mark indicating the drivers were not loaded correctly. After several BSODs (for a different issue), I ran SFC and CHKDSK on my computer. Neither program found a problem. Then when I tried to connect the device again, Vista started looking for drivers and I walked away from the computer for the evening. When I had come back, it said the drivers were loaded. In Device Manager, Vista shows a new device category named "Western Digital NAS" with two devices installed: My Cloud Network Media Server and My Cloud Network Storage. The driver problem is now solved but I don't know how. Problem 2: Files I had loaded onto the shares to learn how to use the device can be seen in Windows Explorer. That was never a problem. However, as soon as I clicked on a file, the screen would scramble and then BSOD. This only occurred with files loaded onto the MyCloud device. After some blue screens, I started up into Safe Mode with Networking. I was able to click on the files without crashing, though Media Player wouldn't play them or even start in Safe Mode. I then did a clean boot and it tested okay. As I added items in MSCONFIG, the problem would not recur. There was one item that prevented me from even setting MSCONFIG to do a normal startup, and that was Kaspersky Internet Security 2015. Not only that, but I couldn't start the software at all. I did a complete removal of Kaspersky and then reinstalled it. I no longer have any BSODs. Both issues, as mysterious as they were, have mysteriously been resolved. I have a DLNA issue, but that's in another post. I also have a new issue with the WD My Cloud desktop app but I don't need to use that and if I do, I'll start a new discussion. -

My iMac has a 1T hard drive and it is full ! So i look for the archives and there are6000 mails recovered from gmail and i can not erase them. Is it a virus?

Boot in safe mode. First, disconnect all wired peripherals except keyboard, mouse, and monitor, if applicable, and remove all aftermarket expansion cards. The instructions provided by Apple are as follows:
Be sure your Mac is shut down.
Press the power button.
Immediately after you hear the startup tone, hold the Shift key. The Shift key should be held as soon as possible after the startup tone, but not before the tone.
Release the Shift key when you see the gray Apple icon and the progress indicator (looks like a spinning gear).
The login screen appears even if you usually log in automatically. You must know your login password in order to log in. If you’ve forgotten the password, you will need to reset it before you begin.
Safe mode is much slower to boot and run than normal, and some things won’t work at all, including your login items.

I used Favorites for bookmarks and RoboForm to fill in logon info. I need to find a new approach...I use a combination of macs and pcs AND IPHONE 3G.
For bookmarks, a web based service sounds logical. It looks like del.icio.us is one of the best...it seems to be featured on many web sites, easy to use, works across all platforms and browsers. Do anyone have any comments or other suggestions?
For logon info, I am thinking of 1Password mainly because they have an IPHONE 3G client. Any comments or suggestions?
It would be nice if one web based applicaton could do both, but I have not found one.

bobIf you're switching from using a PC to a Mac, then you don't need to synchronize any bookmarks; you can just keep them in your browser, like nearly everyone else. Why reinvent the wheel when the one you have works perfectly well?
As for 1Password, it's the best tool of it's type out there.

I am trying to install an epson bx635fwd.
Connecting to the printer is fine and using the usb cable and network seems to work OK. The problem comes when I try and find the printer.
It pops up as a nearby printer but apple tries to look for the softwars on its own website. It then tells me this is unavailable.
I go to the epson website and upload the latest drivers.
When I try again, in system preferences, the same thing happens and I get a message that the software is unavailable from the apple website....etc..etc.
I am using 10.7 on a 24 inch imac, fully updated.
help pleaseWhen you select to add the printer, don't select the entry shown under Nearby Printers. Instead, select Add Printer or Scanner and from the new window that appears, select the Epson. If the Print Using menu does not change to the already installed driver and the search window appears, sometimes you have the option to skip this search and manually add the printer via the Print Using menu. If you are not given this option then trash the contents of the Epson folder in HD > Library > Printers. Then unplug the printers USB cable and reconnect. This should prompt the Mac to add the printer automatically and go looking for the driver which is available from Apple.

Log in to the Store. Click on "Account" in your Quick Links. When you're in your Account information screen, go down to Purchase History and click "See all".
Find the item that is not playing properly. If you can't see "Report a Problem" next to the item, click the "Report a problem" button. Now click the "Report a Problem" link next to the item.
