Lose internet when plugging into switch

I am perplexed why I can create a wireless network with my airport extreme and have great internet connectivity through my cable company, but when I plug the airport into a switch to distribute the internet through out my office the internet immediately starts slowing down and eventually completely goes away.  Unplug extreme from switch and the internet comes back for wireless clients.  Problem started about a month ago.  I figured switches were going bad so I replaced every switch in the office.  Did not solve problem. Thought maybe airport extreme was going bad so I replaced it  with latest  airport extreme (cube). Problem still exists.   Nothing has changed in my network configuration in past two years.  No other services that use the network is effected, just internet connectivity.  I was quite ugly with my internet provider thinking it was a service issue until on a whim I unplugged extreme from switch and my iPad, iPhone, and macbook pro were able to connect to the internet wirelessly instantly.  Plug it back into the switch and internet connectivity for wireless and wired goes away.
Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.

That's only one explanation, and an oversimplified one at that. In any event I think your best course of action might still require disassembling your network and adding one piece at a time. Assuming your business is closed for the weekend, now might be your best opportunity.
Short of that, power down all switches, Macs, other devices (though I doubt iPhones, voip phones or printers can contribute to the problem) and the Extreme (no need to reset it). Then, power up the Extreme and one Mac that is connected through a switch. Turn Wi-Fi "off" to ensure Ethernet is its only viable network connection, as well as for troubleshooting simplicity.
It should have no connection until you power up that switch. Do that, and determine if the problem still exists.
Assuming it doesn't, turn its Wi-Fi back "on" and test.
The iPhones and iPads should also be working at this point.
Proceed to the next Mac and test the same way. If it's connected to a different switch, power it on also, then re-check the first Mac.

Press and hold the power on button and the circle button on the front for about 10-15 seconds - If nothing try to plug in to the usb at the rear of the PC for more power and then try again.
    It will work.

  • Charger Buzzes when plugged into the Adapter Converter

Im in England currently (From the USA) and am using a "DYNEX" converter adapter to switch the electric current down so I can plug in/charge my Macbook Pro and iPad.
It works, however the charger buzzes pretty loudly and gets hot.
Thankfully I brought two, one started smelling like melted plastic and stopped charging altogether. That particular charger has faulted at home before (back in the USA), so I'm not sure if it died because of the converter or because it's just faulty.
I have plugged in the newer charger and it also buzzes, but I'm really worried to keep it plugged in because I don't want it to fault out too.
Is it normal for it to buzz like that when plugged into a converter adapter?
    Thanks!

The question again, why are you using a voltage converter?  The Apple charegers are all rated for 100-240 volts at 0-60 Hz...you only need a plug adapter to convert the US HEMA plug to the UK two round pin plug.
Adding a voltage converter is adding one more failure point into the system.
I have used mine all over Europe with no issues.

  • Apple logo when plugged into wall, nothing when connected to computer

I think my iPhone may have finally met its last days. This week while on my honeymoon in Puerto Rico, I jumped into a waterfall with my phone in my pocket. Crap! I pulled my phone out of my pocket, and it still worked fine. I started praising my Otterbox for saving it. 3 hours later I arrived back at my hotel room, and the phone wouldn't turn on. Weird because it was working for a couple of hours. 3 days later and anytime that I plug it into the wall all I get is an apple logo that comes in goes every few seconds. I tried a reset and no luck.
When plugged into the wall, I can hold the home and the lock buttons, and it shows me a picture that says to connect it to iTunes but it disappears after half a second. However, whenever I plug it into the computer I get NOTHING. No apple logo, nothing in the device center that shows I'm even connected.
Is there any hope for me? Any help is much appreciated. I have over 200 pictures from my wedding and honeymoon that I don't want to lose.

Sorry, disregard the last response; I can't edit it. You should dry it BEFORE trying different cables. The safest way to go about this is dry your iPhone inside-out and to not turn it on until it's dry. Maybe there is a little moisture stuck inside preventing it from booting, but if you're lucky, it's not permanently damaged. The best way I've heard of to dry it is to leave it overnight in a tight bag with dry rice or, better yet, silica packets (those anti-moisture things found in packaged items). Maybe longer if you want to be extra safe. If it still doesn't charge without the Apple logo flashing, try using different Lightning to USB cables. Maybe it's just a bad cable, but you shouldn't test that until you've dried your phone.

my iphone 4s will not charge or be recognized when plugged into the computer after the ios 5.1.1 software update why is this? i have used many usb cords also.

Had same problem and did the normal reset 10seconds but did not work.
I plugged in USB and held the on/off switch and home button for 20seconds and the "Connect to Itunes" came on the screen. I then opened up Itunes and it directed me to restore.

There is a hardware problem.  Whether it's worth it to you to have no working phone for 2 months until you can update vs paying for replacement/repair now is a question only you can answer.

I have an Retina display MacBook Pro with HMDI out port. I also have an HDMI to Component cable with Audio Plugs. How can I get HDMI out to work with this cable when plugged into the MacBook Pro and connected to the TVs Component and Audio in ports.

Will not work.  To my knowledge, dual converting like that isn't supported.  The Mac must detect the connected video output device and that sort of info cannot be done across an analog component uni-directional connection.

  • Decided to update iphone 4 to ios 5.1 and mid update it froze and the screen is black.  Phone does not respond to any combinations of home and power buttons, when plugged into computer it does not see it is plugged in, any ideas?

Decided to update iphone 4 to ios 5.1 and mid update it froze and the screen is black.  Phone does not respond to any combinations of home and power buttons, when plugged into computer it does not see it is plugged in so I cannot restore or anything.  Looks like the screen is on it's just unresponsive and black obviously.  Has anyone had this problem?  I was updating via wifi right in front of my router and my computer.

Spoke to a "senior advisor" in the Apple TV department.  Her suggestions:  change channel in router to minimize/eliminate wifi interference from other users; move router away from any metal - i.e., DVD player, phone modem, etc.; keep router away from wireless 2.4 gH phones, which are "notorious" for crashing wifi routers.  So she confirms that the problem is one of connection to router suddenly dropping out.
My own feeling is that none of these fixes will do the trick, because it seems pretty clear that there is a hardware component here - the timing of the drops seems like an overheating issue.  It takes 35-40 minutes for the box to warm up enough for the first drop; then each consecutive drop happens quicker than the one before, as it heats up more.  Each time it drops, its tiny brain gets a little more scrambled; last night it finally wouldn't start up again at all.
My suggestion is that everyone who is experiencing this problem, please call Apple tech support and ask to speak to a senior advisor in the Apple TV department.  Make them aware of this problem!

My Ipod touch will only work when plugged into an Itouch radio.  When I take it out of the charger, it goes blank.  The battery shows fully charged.  It appears that the battery is no longer charging.  What should I do?

Try a reset: Hold the home and power buttons at the same time until the Apple boot logo appears. No data will be lost. If that fails, the battery may have gone kaput.

  • BSOD when plugging into Dynadock U3

    Hi There,
We have a wide number of Toshiba Dynadock u3.0's working with a number of Sony Vaio Laptops. In the main they have worked pretty well, and have improved over time as new releases have come out.
At the moment we are rolling out the new Sony Vaio Pro laptops, and Dynadock is almost essential for users because the Vaio Pro's do not have an ethernet adapter. We are also downgrading them to Windows 7 from Windows 8 as we are not ready for Windows 8 on a large rollout, and holding off till 8.1 goes live.
We have had a couple of blue screen of deaths on 2 Vaio Pro's when plugging into the Dynadock. Both have the latest dynadock drivers, and we have obtained the memory dump for the machines. Before they were plugged in, they were on the WLAN in the office.
The other half a dozen devices we have in use at the moment have not yet reported this issue, and the BSOD has appeared on these two devices only once each, but I was asked to report this issue on these forums to just confirm there is no obvious issue with the Dynadocks.
In the meantime we have 3 other Vaio pros which are being tested and have not yet experinced the same issue.

    Hey texasbootz,
I'll have to get you to answer a few questions to understand what is going on exactly:
When the iPhone is plugged into the notebook, does it charge?
When the iPhone is plugged into the notebook, does it show up in device manager?
    Is iTunes installed?
If it is not charged when plugged in, it is possible that the cable you are using isn't functioning properly, and you may need a replacement. Or, the iPhone itself is having some issues.
In any case, since other devices are working in all of your USB ports, it is possible that its either a software issue (with the iPhone's drivers) or an issue with the iPhone case. You'll have to contact Apple for support on either of those issues. I'd suggest trying to re/install iTunes, see if that fixes it, then to contact Apple.
    Hope this helps!

  • Iphone 3g not recognized by computer(s). Windows 7. Charges when plugged into wall, but not PC's. Also not listen in Device Manager. I have hard reset/soft. reinstalled itunes after clean wipe. went through services... help! Windows 7

Hello all. My system is Windows 7 64bit. In the past my phone worked just fine, plug it into a usb slot, synced up, updated... but for months now it has not worked. Other Iphones will not work on this PC either with their corresponding cables. But my Iphone will also not work when plugged into other computers.. it will not show up at all.. no charge.. no itunes... no drivers show up in Device Manager. My phone works just fine when plugged into the wall with it's cable.. charges fine everything works.. but it will not charge when plugged into a computer.
So far... I have uninstalled everything related to apple... ran ccleaner.. fixed registry errors. Reboot PC, reinstall all itunes and apple components (all latest software) and nothing.
I have gonet o services and stopped and started apple mobile device. It is set to automatic.
I have hard reset the phone and soft reset it.
The cable obviously works. The Phone works when plugged into the wall.
Other Iphones will not work on my pc, nor will my iphone work on theirs
I have disabled windows firewall along with my Comodo Defense Plus and it's firewall. I have disabled my AV. I have scanned with ad aware plus, Avast, ran hijack this and fixed registry errors. Ran Ccleaner.
My device manager does not have anything related to apple in it.. I have no idea why. My Device Manager has no portable devices detected at all and does not recognize anything related to the phone.
    Core 2 duo 6600
    2gigs of ram
    Windows 7 64 bit
I have checked all the tech support stuff I can find. I am desperate. Apple will not help me on the phone without charging me 30$.

Also.... my phone works and can do everything fine when not plugged in.. I just can't get my computer or others to recognize the darn thing when plugged in!
