LSMW to insert version of contract

Hi All,
In my client, all contracts are version-managed i.e. every changes need to create a new version. I need to create a LSMW to mass-upload to create vesion for all contracts. My problem is I cannot record using 'Batch Input Recording'. Any suggestion to overcome this problem.

Hi,
there is a option of exporting the LSMW Project to the local machine & importing the same to SAP.
In Dev Server
in the tcode LSMW --> Extras --> Export Projects.
Then select which are all subprojects & objects u want to export & save it ur machine.
In Quality Server
in the tcode LSMW --> Extras --> Import Projects.
I hope this option will be there in the version.

Using LSMW how to handle Value contracts create/change (VA41) /(VA42)

Hi Experts,
Please suggest me how to create and change of value contracts using LSMW.
Actually i got one standard batch input program RVINVB10 in LSMW for create/change for value contracts. but the problem is one field ZWERT - Target Value in Document Currency is not present in the Target structure at item level.
ZWERT - Target Value in Document Currency field is required for my scenario.
Points will be awarded for the Correct answers.

In LSMW first we have to map all source structure fields to Target structure fields right, ZWERT field is there in my source structure and there is no field matching with ZWERT in the Target structure.
Field name :ZWERT
Field Description: Target Value in document currency.

Version in Contract

Hi,
i am working in the updation program for contract,
i have two mode.
1. mode:
      I want to update the u2018Activeu2019 Version even though if we have change version or not.
2. Mode;
            if we have active version then, we need to create change version -- important help me on this..???
             If we have change version then, we need to update in change version only.
How can i achieve this functionality? I am using 'BBP_PD_CTR_Update' FM.
Plz help me on this...

LSMW for Production Version

Good day gurus,
Can someone tell me whether Production Versions should be done in LSMW through Batch Recording or Direct Input method? Please help

Production Versions can be done in lsmw both by batch recording as well as Direct Methood after having exported from QA client.One thing one needs tyo ensure that in Direct Methood the data needs to be converted in phases that is in intervals not all records at a time.It doesnot matter whether it is functional or technical rather technical pepole are more active in running them.
SHDB is for recording so in LSMW any way you create recording but need not in production versions as you need to export it from QA client.

Inserting an employment period (rehiring/leaving) between two existing ones

Hi experts,
I'm coming across another limitation of PA and even if i have very little hope i'm interesting in getting your views on the matter.
We deal with a large number of fixed term contracts. It can happen for instance that a number of short terms contracts are proactively entered into SAP, for instance contract A from 01.05.2009 to 15.05.2009 and contract B from 10.06.2009 to 20.06.2009. Now it can happen than we need to insert an additional contract within those 2 existing ones, let's say contract Z from 25.05.2009 to 03.06.2009. The user should therefore operate a rehiring action and then a leaving action again. The thing is the system doesn't let you do so and issues an error message following a check on employment status.
Has anyone any good idea about how to go around this ? Except of course suppressing all future actions and recreating, which i would want to avoid obviously :o)

for this u need to configure an action employee inactive action in PA40 in before that check the below documentation
for this scenario u can use the status as 1 which is customer defined

Definition
Status indicators for personnel actions.
Use
The three status indicators have the following meanings:
1. Customer defined: Not used in the standard system. You can use
this indicator according to your requirements.
2. Employment: 0: Employee not with company
1: Employee with company, but inactive2: Employee with company, but as retiree
3: Employee active in company
3. Special payment: 0: Special payment: no entitlement
1: Special payment: standard wage type
2: Special payment: special wage type
This special payment indicator is only relevant for the country
versions of Austria and Spain.
Procedure
Each action is assigned the three status indicators STAT1 (customer defined), STAT2 (employment), STAT3 (special payment) in the customizing system.
When a personnel action record is created, the system automatically fills the Customer defined, Employment and Special payment fields if the action affects the employee's status.
The first record of the Actions infotype is assigned the status specified in the customizing system. All other records
have the same status indicator as the new personnel action if this is not BLANK in the customizing system.

There is no impact, the projects can still be used if you don't migrate to Unicode at the same time.

Bdc & Lsmw upgrade issues

Can anyone please let me know the issues faced while upgrading bdc & Lsmw from lower version to higher version.

The following problems can be encountered
1. Absence of certian screen fields.... usually the custom fields which are in lower version and not transported to higher version.
2. Screen flow might change. Thus make sure that screen flow defined in BDC is same as the actual screen flow in the transaction.

How to use BAPI_RE_CN_CHANGE to insert conditions

I need to insert conditions in a RE contract, i find out that the BAPI BAPI_RE_CN_CHANGE could do this, but it's not working, the BAPI return is OK, but no records are inserted in the cointract.
Anyone can send me the parameters that i had to pass to the BAPI ou a example code of it ?

Inserting PDF signature into documents

I was wondering if I could use AppleWorks to insert signatures into contracts and other documents that people email me such as Word docs, leases, etc.
I have my signature and initials saved on my hard-drive as PDFs and JPEGs but have to open these docs in Photoshop in order to paste, place my signature. Photoshop takes a while to boot and uses a lot of RAM when open and was wondering if there's a lighter program I could use? Preview won't let me import images, but a small program like that is what I'm after.

AppleWorks would be a poor choice for this task, as it treats all imported bit map images as having 72 dpi resolution. Pretty jagged by today's standards.
You might try Pages, part of Apple's iWork '09 suite. You can download a 30 day trial of iWork from this page. The link is on the left, toward the bottom of the page.

Checking for duplicate primary keys on row inserts
I have a situation where I will be making bulk table inserts knowing that the primary key value will in some cases already exist. In this is the case I simply want to ignore the duplicate inserts.
Should I be performing a sub-query on the table and using a statement like:
where not exist in
Or is there a cleaner way of discarding or checking for duplicates on insert.
My concerns were mainly one of performance, as my routine will be inserting a few thousand rows in its operation.

The MERGE commnad is a good option when a large percentage of the data will exist in the target because it is much more efficient to attempt to update then insert when the update affects zero rows than capture an error and convert it to an update.
However, since in this case it would appear that only a few rows will alreadys exist and we want to ignore the duplicates when they exist then

when dup_value_in_index then null;
end
would be the way to code this one. The bulk insert version has in 9.2 the ability to store the errors so that they can all be handled at once which means the rest of the array insert can work.

The LSM Workbench is an SAP R/3 based tool that supports the one-time or periodic transfer of data from non-SAP systems ("legacy systems") to SAP systems.
The LSM Workbench helps you to organize your data migration project and guides you through the process by using a clear sequence of steps.
No ABAP effort are required for the SAP data migration. However, effort are required to map the data into the structure according to the pre-determined format as specified by the pre-written ABAP upload program of the LSMW.
The Legacy System Migration Workbench (LSMW) is a tool recommended by SAP that you can use to transfer data once only or periodically from legacy systems into an R/3 System.
More and more medium-sized firms are implementing SAP solutions, and many of them have their legacy data in desktop programs. In this case, the data is exported in a format that can be read by PC spreadsheet systems. As a result, the data transfer is mere child's play: Simply enter the field names in the first line of the table, and the LSM Workbench's import routine automatically generates the input file for your conversion program.
The LSM Workbench lets you check the data for migration against the current settings of your customizing. The check is performed after the data migration, but before the update in your database.
So although it was designed for uploading of legacy data it is not restricted to this use.
We use it for mass changes, i.e. uploading new/replacement data and it is great, but there are limits on its functionality, depending on the complexity of the transaction you are trying to replicate.
The SAP transaction code is 'LSMW' for SAP version 4.6x.
Initially there will be 20 steps but after processing 1 step it will reduced to 14 for session method.
