Lumia 820 Display Changes Itself to VERY LARGE Til...

I can't find similar reports/solutions anywhere: my 820 sometimes resizes all of the display to giant tiles, of which I can just see snippets. I can't get it back to normal without turning it off and restarting it.
I'm not talking about the difference between small tiles and large tiles - I have a mix of those. When this happens, everything gets too big. If I can get to settings, some functions don't even allow me to scroll over to the slider switch.
Suggestions welcome!

  • Vertical streaks on Lumia 820 display

I see very distinguishable vertical banding and streaks on my Lumia 820. I first noticed them on dark grey backgrounds but now also on e.g. Nokia TV menus. Is this normal?

no this is not normal at all. have you tried performing a soft reset (pressing the volume down and power buttons together until the phone vibrates)? Failing that, it sounds more like a case of hardware failure so you will need to take your phone back to your point of purchase...if they are being less than helpful, then you will need to take your phone to your local Nokia Care for inspection: http://nokia.com/support

  • Nokia lumia 820 freezes, turn itself off, then it ...

I've had my Lumia 820 for 3 months now, now it's starting to freeze 1-2 times each day. Yesterday, when it freezes, I tried to reboot it by removing the battery and put it back on again. But, this time, it won't start, instead it shows a buzzed screen like static tv, then turn itself off. It keeps showing that whenever I try to turn it on. I want to try repairing for myself before go to my local Nokia support store. can someone help me? I'm desperate...

  • Imac screen display changes

When I plug in the DVI to video adapter, the display size on my Imac monitor changes radically, becoming very large. When I unplug it goes back to normal. Is there a way to leave the adapter plugged in without it changing the size of the image in the display?

    Ceremonial 11 day bump.
    Any ideas???

  • 820 goes off itself

my lumia 820 goes off itself and to get it back on i have to remove battery anybody pls tell me how to overcome this problem!

    Hi vaishnava,
Thank you for posting and welcome to the forum.
If you are experiencing issues with your phone, here are basic troubleshooting steps you can try:
Press and hold both the Volume down and the Power keys for 15 seconds. This should get your phone to restart properly again. If doing this still doesn't resolve the issue, you have to make sure that the phone runs its latest software. To check for available software update, go to Settings, Phone Updates, Check for updates.
If none of the above troubleshooting steps work, you have to consider doing a reset.
Warning: Resetting your phone will return it to the same state it was in the first time you turned it on. All your personal content in the phone, including text messages and apps that you been purchased and downloaded (may be re-downloaded again) will be erased, and the phone will be restore to the factory settings.
Here are two options to follow, depending on whether you can access your phone's Settings screen or not.
    Option 1: About menu
Use this option if you can access your phone's settings.
This option warns about data loss.
On the Start screen, swipe left, select Settings > About > Reset your phone.
    Option 2: Hardware key combination
    Step 1
Make sure the charger is disconnected.
    1. Switch the power Off.
    2. Press and hold the Volume down and connect the charger, if succeed an exclamation mark (!) is shown on the screen.
    Step 2
Then input Keys in the following order:
    1. Volume up
    2. Volume down
    3. Power
    4. Volume down
    Step 3
The phone will reset and boot up automatically. Please note that this may take several minutes.
Try these steps, monitor the behavior of the phone and let us know the outcome.
    Hope these information help.

  • Lumia 820 turns off by itself

    Hi everybody,
I've had my Lumia 820 for about 2 weeks. At the begining everything was fine, but recently I've had several problems with the device as I mentioned in the title. It turns itself off time to time. It doesn't matter if I'm using it or it's being charged. I called Nokia Customer Service about this issue, and they said I had to give the phone to the service to be repaired. But I heard that the new one also shuts down. I sent some feedback to Microsoft too, but no reply so far. I just want to know if it is about the software or hardware. Does anybody have an idea about this issue?
If the problem is about the hardware I'm sure I'm not gonna buy another Nokia phone in my life. If it's about the software, I hope Microsoft will release an update ASAP.
In my opinion, both Nokia and Microsoft had better find a solution about this issue immediately just before they lose their new enthusiastic customers. Soon it could be so late...
I just can wait for a couple of weeks, then I'm done with both....
By the way, I heard that Lumia 920 and HTC X both have the same problem. So I think it's about the Windows 8 OS.

I have the same issue with my (old) Nokia 3120c.   Customer service has tried to solve it a few times, with no success.  Just runarounds, like (1) it couldn't be, (2) try updating SW version (didn't help), (3) clean battery (didn't help).
What I have discovered is that (1) it is very dependent on location.  Never happens at my rural home, but often happens in big cities.  (2) If I put it in a Faraday cage (like a metal box) it never happens.  (3) It happens even if nobody touches or moves the phone.
At work it happens often.  I find that if I put it on a large metal plate, it stays on, but cannot receive calls.  But if I
put it about 1 cm above the metal plate, it stays on and is still able to receive calls.
Possible conclusion, at least for the Nokia 3120c, but probably for other Nokia phones too, at least in some cases:  it is seeing some sort of RF overload and shutting itself down because of this.
One other point...a different phone of the exact same model which I tested shows the same thing, but much less often.  That is, it is much less sensitive to the suspected overload.
Is it a software issue?  Hard to say.  It could be that the software sees the RF level too high and shuts down the phone as a protective measure.  OR, it could be that some hardware mechanism is operating that shuts down the phone without any software intervention.
I see that there are hundreds of posts with various phone models which complain about this issue, but I have not seen any reply by a Nokia employee.  Frustrating to say the least.
Your experience is very interesting. But I don't think my problem is the same. By the way despite all my feedbacks, no one from Nokia or Microsoft reply me... The most interesting thing is that, I think. I'm considering to change my phone if the problem goes on...

  • HT5548 Is it possible to change the size of the icons shown in Launchpad? Mine seem very large.

Is it possible to change the size of the icons in Launchpad? Mine seem very large.

Thanks for the reply UKoC. You are close on the size. I would say they are about an inch to an inch and a half in width and only seven across the row. They just seem quite large on my display and I figured there would be an easy way. I kept thinking I just had to be missing the way for adjusting them since everything else seems to be so easy to personalize. Funny thing is that I have watched an online tutorial twice now on Apple's web site showing Launchpad and the icons shown there are smaller and more of them. I just thought I was missing the fix somehow. Thanks for confirming this.

  • Lumia 820 cracked display

Last weekend i've accidently dropped my Lumia 820 on a concrete floor.
Now I want to get it repaired (or replaced) by Nokia through Nokia Care Online Repair. First of all, do they repair phones which are broken by own fault?
The website gives me two options; Standard repair and Repair with refurbished. Standard repair means that they will repair or replace it without using refurbished parts?
    I definitely don't want a refurbished display.
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

Received the instructions on sending the phone out for repair, but can't find if I have to send the phone including backcover and battery or just the display itself?
Bought the phone in The Netherlands where you get, unlike other countries, the wireless charging backcover by default on purchase of this phone.
    Anybody experience with this?

  • I was recently sent a very large emoji message amd now when i try to acces messages it will not display mesagges and then will bring me back to the home page

was recently sent a very large emoji message amd now when i try to acces messages it will not display mesagges and then will bring me back to the home page

Quit the messages app and reset your phone.
Go to the Home screen and double click the Home button. That will reveal the row of recently used apps at the bottom of the screen. Tap and hold on the app in question until it jiggles and displays a minus sign. Tap the minus sign to actually quit the app. Then tap anywhere on the screen above that bottom row to return the screen to normal. Then restart the app and see if it works normally. Then reset your device. Press and hold the Home and Sleep buttons simultaneously ignoring the red slider should one appear until the Apple logo appears. Let go of the buttons and let the device restart.
After the phone restarts go into Messages and delete the thread containing the problem message.

  • How can NI FBUS Monitor display very large recorded files

NI FBUS Monitor version 3.0.1 outputs an error message "Out of memory", if I try to load a large recorded file of size 272 MB. Is there any combination of operating system (possible Vista32 or Vista64) and/or physical memory size, where NI FBUS Monitor can display such large recordings ? Are there any patches or workarounds or tools to display very large recorded files?

    Hi,
NI-FBUS Monitor does not set the limitation on the maximum record file size. The physical memory size in the system is one of the most important factors that affect the loading of large record file.  Monitor will try loading the entire file into the memory during file open operation.
272MB is a really large file size. To open the file, your system must have sufficient physical memory available.  Otherwise "Out of memory" error will occur.
I would recommend you do not use Monitor to open a file larger than 100MB. Loading of a too large file will consume the system memory quickly and decrease the performance.

  • My display is very large

My son used my imac and played a game via the internet.  Now my display is very large and I can not make it smaller.  Any suggestions

Check the resolution in System Preferences > Displays > Display tab > set to the highest resolution.
In SL it's the last on the list, in Lion it's the first one.
