Lumia amber issue

A lot of issues occurs after updating my 920 with latest version.
1. Processing become slow.
2. Games like temple run and istunt not working properly.
3. Automatic brightness issue e.t.c.

As already mentioned hundreds of times since the update was released, you also need to update a certain number of system apps before the new features with GDR2/Amber are "visible" to you.
To that end, install "Lumia System Updater" and use it to update your system apps.

  • Nokia LUMIA AMBER update release dates????

I'm dying for lumia amber update for my 820.Microsoft release its GDR 2 update.but i can't download it to my phone,,coz nokia did't launch it.please hurry n release the AMBER UPDATE as soon as possible.I'm really curious about it.PLEASE RELEASE IT ASAP

The Amber Update was available TODAY for any WP8 phone but once NOKIA got wind of it they shut it down fast. They will leave us 810 owners in the dust EVEN thought those who downloaded the newest version on their 810's
HAVE NO issues whatsoever. NOKIA wants it to be exclusive to just few models and not all WP8's
And that's too bad  810 owners buy a Lumia 810 and 5 months later NOKIA won't provide updates. Nice.

  • Nokia Lumia 820 issues after Lumia Black update...

Before updating to the Lumia Black update:
    1. Was able to connect the Nokia Lumia 820 to my home PC using Windows 8.1 and it was able to see the device and files on it as well as sync music from Windows Media Player to the device.
    2. Was able to connect to the Nokia Lumia 820 from one of my Office PCs using Windows 8.0 and was able to see the device and files on it.
As well as to manually install Windows Phone 8 applications or install the Windows Phone 8 applications via Microsoft Visual Studio 2012 Ultimate from either PC.
After the Lumia Black update, Neither PC can see files on the Nokia Lumia 820 nor can any application send files to the Phone's Memory Card or Second Memory Card. (SD Class 10)
Very frustrated with the Lumia Black update. Lumia Amber worked just fine.
I haven't changed anything as far as I know on my Nokia Lumia 820 device to cause said issues nor have I abused the device in any way.
    PLEASE HELP!!!
    Thank you,

    Go to Solution.

Simply wanted to add 3 new audio tracks to the Music files via Windows Media Player but cannot even connect the device like it did less than 45 days ago when everything was working properly.
All my music files are on the SD Card because the file space needed is more than the 7.3 GB on the base memory for the unit. (Something like 8.1+ GB at the present time of 29.8 GB... which is the formatted size of the 32 GB SD Class 10 card.)
When the Nokia Lumia 820 is connected to my home Windows 8.1 computer, Windows knows about it but cannot finish the handshake to see the device and the 2 memory areas on the device.
Have to determine which programs that I have installed after the initialization that I want to restore.
The problem at the moment is that turning off the unit loses ALL Music Album Data but the songs are still there. This seems to have been caused by Lumia Black Update but not sure if that is true or not.
Have a lot of stuff to backup before resetting the device. Perhaps could upload everything to SkyDrive / OneDrive then restore the data after a full reset of the device.
I have all my cell phone contact data backed up but would like to backup all text messages too.
I have 2 custom applications that I have developed but are not yet setup using the Windows Phone 8 Development License as released products... that will be done soon.
Cannot backup the latest pictures on the phone... not many since the last backup but there are pictures that are not restorable that I would like to keep.
Would rather not have to do a complete reset but may have no choice.
    Thanks,

  • AT&T and Lumia Amber Update DELAYS and delivery ti...

    1) AT&T customers who are also Lumia owners now know that AT&T missed the Nokia deadline for all Lumia phones receiving the Amber update by 9/30/2013.
    2) Here is an AT&T Facebook session I had with Nicole L. yesterday. You will note their (AT&T's) best answer is we affirmatively will receive the update in a few weeks:
My post - "AT&T Decision Makers (particularly in AT&T Mobility),
Several hours ago we passed 9/30/2013. Over a month ago the Nokia Corporation published a statement (see http://conversations.nokia.com/2013/08/30/lumia-amber-your-questions-answered/ ) that Amber updates would roll-out world-wide by 9/30/2013.
Along the past month, queries to customer care reps and social media "managers" about the release date of Amber (and GDR2) were routinely met with condescending replies that we're (AT&T) working as quickly as possible, please be patient, stay tuned, updates can be challenging to implement properly, and so on.
Now, several thousand Lumia owners who are AT&T customers are left to ask two questions. The first requires only an affirmative or negative response, the second an actual calendar date.
    1) Are Nokia Lumia owners who are AT&T customers going to receive via OTA the Amber (Pr2) and GDR2 updates?
    2) If #1 is answered in the affirmative, then what exactly is the AT&T deadline for OTA availability? If answered in the negative, exactly why are your customers not going to receive a manufacturer certified equipment update?
Thank you for your prompt and concise reply."
AT&T's reply: "AT&T Affirmative, Michael. Our best answer is a few weeks. It's been a long road, but I hope you'll be happy with the update when it gets to your device. Thanks for your patience! - Nicole L. "
In a conversation I had with AT&T Customer Care rep "LaTonya", she was unable to confirm a timeframe. I made mention of the fact that when Apple sneezes AT&T gets a cold; however when Nokia speaks AT&T yawns. LaTonya enjoyed my observation.
Is there a way to press Nokia USA corporate into advocacy on our behalf?
    Thanks!

    Actually what it said was:
With Lumia Amber we expect to have the update arriving in all Lumia Windows Phone 8 phones by the end of September. Be patient – it’s coming!
So there is no deadline like you claim and Nokia would never make such claims. That said, you bought an ATT device made by Nokia and as such ATT is the company ultimately responsible for this. It is up to them to approve the update and allow it to be made available to their product(range).

  • Downloading Lumia Amber Update

I recently had to do a hard reset on my Nokia Lumia 928, and thus lost all of Nokia's updates as of June 1st, 2013, which also includes the Lumia Amber update. It says in settings>phone update that I'm up to date, but I know that I most certainly am not up to date.
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

Isn't it showing 'Lumia Amber' under settings-->extras+info ?
If you are missing the features of Amber then install THIS application and thru' it update all the System Applications. Then check again ..

  • Nokia Lumia 900 Issues and Questions

I bought my Nokia Lumia 900 last March and it's running pretty well. It's fast and reliable, although I have some issues regarding it.
    1. When I'm in a conversation and I receive multiple text messages, I need to press the back button as many times as the number of messages I have received so I can go back to the menu. Not a big problem at all, but it can be quite annoying once you've already received a lot of messages and you try to go back to the messages screen.
    2. I don't have the compass. When I try to download apps, it says my phone is missing some features that the app requires, which happens to be the compass. The phone's specification (on the Nokia website) says that the phone has a magnetometer, GSMArena and Wikipedia both say that the Lumia 900 has a compass.
    3. It doesn't have Xbox Live. It's also included in the specifications that the Lumia 900 has Xbox Live, but when I go to Games, I only get Collection.
Issue number 1 isn't that much of a problem, but issues 2 and 3 are very disappointing. I tried searching for ways to fix these and I found an article saying that a reset will fix the compass and Xbox Live issue. I did that, and when I opened it, I saw Xbox Live on my Start Screen but when I activated my Wi-Fi, it changed to Games and still no Xbox Live there. The compass problem isn't fixed either. To those who experienced the same issues, can you please tell me how you fixed it? Thanks in advance.
Also, about the 7.8 update, I've been waiting for it for some time now and it's now available on my unit. Is it safe to install? I'm worried that if it fails it might make my phone useless. How long does it usually take?

    Hi Ronio9riku,
    Welcome to Nokia Support Discussions!
    1. Once you received multiple text messages, can you not open one message and then press the Start button to go back to the live tiles and select Messaging again to go to the next message?
    2. The phone supports compass (magnetometer). Have you tried to use the On-Device Diagnostic Tools to calibrate the Magnetomer? You can open the dialer and then input ##634#. Select Magnetometer and then calibrate the phone. Make sure that the location of the phone is On under Settings!
    3. The phone supports Xbox Live which you can access on the phone by selecting Games on the start screen or by going to the App List. However, Xbox Live is not available to all countries/regions. You can visit the link for the countries/regions supported: www.xbox.com/LIVE/countries.
It's safe and recommended to update the phone whenever there is a software update offered. This improves the perfomance of the phone so why not connect your phone to your computer, open the Zune and install the update?
For more information, see this link: http://www.windowsphone.com/en-us/how-to/wp7/update-central
If you're asking how long the update takes, it is usually 30 minutes to 1 hour.

  • Nokia lumia 710 issue before and after send to rep...

need some advice from the forumer/nokia.
Just bought about a month but my lumia 710 already had an issue 3 days after bought it.
had send it to nokia care center at the 1st time due to battery drainage issue but the profesionalism of the staff was too bad.not satisfied with their attitude also.
had told them about another issue like zune can't detect my phone, sometimes can't heard what the people or someone want to said to me when i'm receiving the call. when call out a friend/somebody, they can't hear my voice. didn't receive any call in 1 day but after rebooting the phone got to many missed call log. had been told by my friend that they can't reach me when they call me and all the call that day has been forwarded to voice mail box.
didn't know why it happened. had been send back to authorised reseller about this issue and my phone has been handed to nokia care center by them.
after return from the nokia care center, had ask the reseller what is the root cause , the reseller said the nokia care center just downgraded my firmware/os back to 7.5 mango and said the problem solve. just use it back but my phone issue still arising. when receive/make a call the batteries drainage issue still exist. just talk about 5 minutes and the batteries was shown too be deplete but the main point is the batteries was shown 90% before make/receive a call. ?????????????.
should i returned it back to nokia care center or get back my .....
are they/the tech expert at nokia care center was too lazy or or lack of knowledge or not knowing of the level of troubleshooting method how to solve the problem and didn't know the root cause issue.  its about a month send it to nokia care center but nothing/useless due to the issue/problem was still there.
check at the website support using the emei number, the repair/emei status didn't exist.

1st: When i want to wake up my phone it lags, getting a black screen like 3 a 5 seconds before the lockscreen appears.
I have this same issue with the 1600.3030.8773.12120 firmware as well as the original 7740 firmware.
Funny thing, I tried to call Nokia Care phone support to report this issue and the woman told me it was not a problem and that I should "live with it". The nokia rep refused to submit my error report as she felt that "a delay of a second when turning the screen on is normal, and is actually very fast"
I was outraged that a nokia rep could talk to me in this way and totally dismiss my issue as trivial. I'm really mad and disapointed about this.
I would hope that the Nokia reps on these forums have a bit more tact and will address and help us users with this confirmed issue.
Question for nokia reps: Can this screen lag be fixed in a firmware update?
    Thank you.

  • Nokia Lumia 1520 Issue

Hi , I had issues with my new nokia lumia 1520 and the issues are as follows: 1)Touch and display problem and screen flickering and doesnt let me use any app on the phone and even if im trying to unlock my phone, it inputs its own password and locks the phone again. 2)Apps not functions as if i click one app another app opens 3)Phone hangs 4)Phone gets heated up rapidly with usage of camera 5)Music volume control issue as with full volume, the phone is still not loud enough at times 6)Paint behind the phone is pealing off and Customer care people (Marathalli Nokia Care) took the phone and finally says that my screen guard is causing all these issue. whereas i was using this phone for 1.5 month without issues untill i updated it to latest firmware 1028.3562.1402.0001. please provide your views as to what can be done next as this phone is just 1.5month old and I have spent a lot on this phone?

Remove the screen guard and take it back to Nokia Care, so they will not have a stupid excuse to refuse repair.

  • Lumia Amber update for 820

Currently I am using Nokia Lumia 820(in India). I have purchased it from Singapore. My friends purchased it from India itself, they have upgraded mobile to Amber Update. But I Tried many times to find Amber Update on my Lumia 820. It shows "Your phone is up to date". Can somebody help me to get Amber Update on my phone? In settings my mobile shows manufactured in Israel. Please help me...

Availability doesn't depend on where you are located but what Variant the phone has.. Go to settings-->about-->carrier ...and then based on what you have, search HERE which gives you the latest update availability status ..There is nothing else that you can do but to wait and keep checking ...

  • Lumia Amber Update 928 Glance

I recently updated to the Amber Update on my 928 I got the glance feature and double tap to wake and loved it I factory reset my phone and signed back in and started fresh but the glance function was gone now it says STANDBY same function to an extent but no double tap feature or peek functionality I have no idea where glance went or how to get it back also the interface changed on the screen settings now its a drop down menu with vivid natural and etc. Where as before it was a slider is anyone else having this issue if so help me get back to my original Amber settings.

I had the same issue.  When you factory reset, the Nokia software goes back to the original, however the firmware does not.  I am guessing that the firmware is what is checked when you hit "Check for Updates" and therefor your phone (or their OTA update service) thinks it is up to date.  I ended up going into Verizon and they first tried switching out the SIM Card which did not work.  Since I picked up this phone less than 2 weeks ago, they gave me a new one.  Unfortunately it looks like unless you can get a new phone, you may have to wait for a fix for how they check for updates from either Nokia, Microsoft, or both...
I would love to hear if anyone else has found a solution to this...
    Best of Luck,
    Tim

  • Lumia amber update

I am in India and i haven't received the amber update till yet. Why??

Having just checked the status page provided by Farby (Carman58's doesn't link to the correct page) all of the lumia phones listed under India are country variant phones with the 520 still awaiting approval and the 720 marked as "Coming soon". The rest have been approved and should be available for download.
Farby also pointed out that the update is dependent upon the region the phone was actually intended for and not the country it is currently being used in. So if you imported your phone from another country (such as the USA) then you will need to wait for the update to be approved for that region. And if it was obtained from a network in another country (such as AT&T in the US) then you will need to await approval from AT&T before the update is made available.
For the full Global release schedule you can visit the following URL and select your phones region from the list to the left of the page.
    http://www.nokia.com/global/support/software-update/wp8-software-update/
Also, as per my original reply, you still have until the end of September until the update will be made available to the rest of the Lumia range so hang in there and it won't be too long now.

  • Lumia Amber Update (Greece)

I'm a 720 user. I'm so dissapointed because its Oct 1 and here in Greece Amber update is ready for almost all lumia models except lumia 720 with Country variant. Nokia promised that amber will be ready until end of sep. What's goin on?

Searching the Forum before posting your query would have answered that .. Nokia hasn't announced any dates for the release, though it should be soon enough start rolling. It may be little longer wait for all the devices to get the update depending upon the Region or Network if they are locked with ....so you need to wait and keep checking. There is NO other way to update your device unless your device shows the availability ..

  • Lumia Amber Update Error

I have a Lumia 820 and updated the firmware to the Amber update yesterday, about half of the new features aren't on there and it has removed some features that were on there before. Most noticably the double tap to wake. I've tried rebooting and it still comes up with the same firmware number (8.0.10328.78). Checking for software updates says it is up to date too. How can I reinstall the Amber update?? Thanks.

Go to Setings> screen + touch > select touch... than tick the box on Double tap to wake
If you still need to reinstall Amber, do a hard reset to your phone... Setings > About  > reset your phone

  • Nokia lumia 730 issues

I have seen some new users of lumia 730 have reviewed that their lumias don't heat up easily, but quite a few day ago after using the phone lightly for 2 weeks, my lumia is getting heated rapidly while using the games app and using internet explorer with 3g on. Also I have seen significant frame skipping in games app, which is unexpected to me as my older lumia 720 was butter smooth. Also I saw some lags in start screen while using mix radio app.
It will be really helpful if some one tells me whether those are software bugs or my lumia is defective. I updated it to the latest denim version two weeks ago, but I noticed those issues 4-5 days ago.

Hi adrianhughes, I have a question for you. Heating, over heating terms are abstract. The heating which I feel is normal you may feel over heating. Is there any standard for it? Wht is the max heating temp, lumia 730 is designed to dissipate?
