Mac Mail - Missing Drafts

Hi Guys,
Recently I took a trip overseas. During this trip I decided to keep a bit of a travel diary using my iphone (4) and my mail account (gmail through the mail app). Each time I would edit the diary as a draft in my mail acount, creating a new draft so that if one got deleted, I still had something to rebuild from. This worked well and I found myself iwth numerous drafts saved upon my return.
Recentlt I went to review the drafts and make a bit of an effort editing them to find that I can't locate them in Mac Mail (I run MacBook 13" before they becme Macbook Pro's, on OS X Lion).
The thing I find strange is that non-related drafts prior to and immediately after the drafts I am looking for are still in my draft mail box.
I have tried looking in the library folders and still cannot locate the emails I'm trying to find. I use time machine but as I wasn't using my laptop overseas there are no backups in that time period.
Does anyone have anythoughts as to how I may locate these files and/or what may have caused this issue?
I've looked in gmail without using mac mail, to no avail.
The only other way I can think of is by prying into my iPhone mail back ups, but again as I was OS I didn't back up the iphone to my mac. Aside from this, being able to dig deep into my iphone is beyond my skill level unless guided, so I thought I'd put it out here for some mac hero's to help me recover some memories!
Any help or guidance would be appreciated.
Thanks in advance
Braedos

Try rebuilding the mailbox. This can take awhile if you have a lot of mail.

  • Mac Mail missing all of my old e-mails on the server - Help!

    Hi,
I recently got a Macbook Air about a month ago and all of my old e-mails on my server were there (I have over 2,000.)
My HD became too full and crashed - I Just got it back today (all of my data is on my external hard drive.) I just tried to setup my e-mail again and all of my old e-mails are missing ..... it only imported by 600 e-mails from January 2nd - thru today..
Where are all of my e-mails? Why aren't they importing? Help! I have very important content and they are still on the server....but not importing.
    Thank You!

What settings did you change, what were the changes, have you visited www.icloud.com to see what mail is actually there? and do you have a backup?

  • Using Templates/Drafts in Email with Attachments Mac Mail

    Hi,
I am trying to create a standard email that to send to new clients once they sign up. This standard email contains attachments and will need a few customizations (e.g.: Name, ad size, start and end dates, etc).
Is there a way to save a draft email that will not disappear once you send it to someone?
I am aware of saving as stationary, but stationary can't be saved with attachments.
In my previous PC/Outlook world, I would create an email with "_____"s in it to remind me to change these fields for the individual recepient (nothing worse than sending a client information that only pertains to the last client you sent it to). I would then simply open that email and click on the "____"s and fill in the info for the individual I'm sending to.
With Mac Mail and Drafts, I can create a template, but once I send it to someone, it deletes the draft. UGH! So frustrating!
    Any suggestions are greatly appreciated!

Mail/Mailbox/New Mailbox - select On My Mac to create the Mailbox. Then drag a copy of the draft there before you send the other one.

  • Missing draft folder in mac mail

My draft folders in my mac mail seem to have disappeared.  I have three email accounts and they all are missing.  How do I find them?

If there is nothing in a draft folder, it is not present.
If there was something in the folders, Time Machine would have a copy.

  • Is there a way to limit the frequency of the "autosaving drafts" feature in Mac Mail on Lion?

    Using Mail Version 5.0 (1244.2/1244.3)
On MacBook Pro with Lion 10.7.1
Wondering if Is there a way to limit the frequency of the "autosaving drafts" feature in Mac Mail on Lion?
Looked all thru preferences and googled the crap out of this and can't seem to find the answer I want.
Basically, I have my mailbox behaviors set up exactly the way I want them. (ie deleted messages get saved to my "Trash" folder on the server) I do not think I should have to change them, but because of the autosave feature saving almost every 3 characters typed, I have an over abundance of versions saved in my Trash folder. This problem would be solved were there a preference somewhere I could select to save drafts "manually only" or "opened messages save when quitting" or something along those lines.
Is this a preference setting already that I am missing?
I would settle for a rule, just not sure what perameters should be set for this to work.
    Help

Typically a server has a settable parameter to limit concurrent connections. Check the server's documentation.

  • My Mac Mail says that I have a plug in missing.  How do I know which plug in is missing and where do I get it?

My Mac Mail says that I have a plug in missing.  How do I know which plug in is missing and where do I get it?

Does this happen ONLY with Mail? Could you close all other applications and open Mail and check again? If this is still happening, please post a screenshot here.

  • Mac Mail drafts don't appear in Gmail and vice-versa. HELP??

When I start writing a message in Mountain Lion's Mac Mail and save it as a draft, it appears locally, but not on Gmail or iOS Mail. It does however appear in imap/[draft] on Gmail and I cannot edit it. Messages that are drafted in Gmail or iOS Mail appear in each other's drafts but not in Mac Mail's. AOL mail on the other hand does not have this issue. Messages drafted on any device show up on the other device. See attached schematic for clarification.
I have tried things such as "Mailbox" > "Use this Mailbox For" in Mac Mail, but that seemed to make matters worse. Copies of drafts remained after sending emails, nothing was properly syncing, etc. It basically became a giant mess. I've searched long and hard and can't find anything that solves my issue. Does anyone have any advice on how to remedy the problem? Is it even fixable?

Verify that the user names and passwords are entered correctly.
Restoring from backup does not seem to always restore the password for email accounts.

  • Quicktime Plug-In Missing from Mac Mail

    MacPro, 2.8 Quad-Core
    10GB RAM
    OS 10.7.5
Today whenever I try to attach a QT movie to a Mac Mail message, an icon pops up and says it's missing the QT Plug-In.
This happens once and a while with PDF's as well.  However, typically I reattach and everything works.
I've googled this and searched on here for a solution but can't seem to find a solution or an approach that applies.
    Thanks in advance.

  • Can't save mac mail drafts

When creating a new message in mac mail I cannot save it as a draft as I have been able to do in the past. After writting a message an error will pop up a minute or so later and warn me that I cannot save the file as a draft and any attempt to save the draft is unsuccessful. Any suggestions?

What type of mail account is this (POP, IMAP, .Mac)? Who is the provider? If IMAP or .Mac, what are your Preferences > Accounts > Mailbox Behaviors > Drafts settings?

  • Osx mac mail cant reply or start new message, but stores as unworkable drafts

osx mac mail suddenly cant reply or start new message, but stores as unworkable drafts
Dont think I did anything to provoke this, can still access on server sites, but heh I'm used to to mac mail

As per usual, I spend days working on a problem, finally give up and post to the discussion groups, THEN find the solution. It was the Signature file. It had either become corrupt (it contains graphics) or the bug fixes in 10.5.5 didn't like it. Either way, removed the sig file and everything works great again! Thanks!

Mac Mail trash folder disappeared. Deleted mail now appears in 'drafts' and Any ideas?stays in the 'in box'. Any one have any ideas as to why or how to fix?

    Hi k:
That file is in your home folder ~(symbol for home)>library>preferences.
A preference file may (rare, but it happens) become corrupted. OS X rebuilds them as needed. You will need to enter any personal preferences that differ from the default settings.

  • Mac Mail creating additional Drafts

When I generate a message in Mac Mail, or when I reply to a message I have received, I often discover (after the reply/message has gone) that another version of the message is sitting in my drafts folder. Normally it is only a draft until it is sent, then it disappears from the draft folder. But not always. Initially I thought the message had not gone, so I clicked on send again and it then disappeared from the drafts folder, but the recipeint then told me they had received the same message twice.
Anyone any idea why the application is generating a second draft?

It may be account-related. From Mail Help:
    Drafts mailbox
The Drafts mailbox contains messages you’ve saved but haven’t sent yet. The Drafts mailbox remains displayed until there are no drafts and you quit Mail.
If you have an Exchange or Internet Message Access Protocol (IMAP) account that is set to save drafts on the server, then as soon as Mail syncs with the server, any drafts you save are shown on your other computers that use that account. To see the drafts immediately, choose Mailbox > Synchronize for the account.

  • Mac Mail 6 is missing the "spinning wheel" indicator when checking for new mail

Before updating to Maountain Lion, when cheking for new mail in Mail, there was a little indicator ("spinning wheel") next to the Inbox to confirm it was actually working.
Since updating to Mountain Lion, the indicator isn't there. It's not that much of a big deal if it doesn't exist anymore, but it was good to have, and if it's just a setting I need to turn back on, then that would be cool, if I could find it

for who is "expected behavior"?????, if you have 6 mails account with different domain or private domains this is NOT an expected behavior... why? this missing indicator work to know if your site or email client is up or down or slow, ok maybe a lot of people don't use this but, don't take desicions like microsoft!!!... looks like some ex-employee from microsoft has a very cool job on apple right now
i don't know who did "This solved my questionRe: Mac Mail 6 is missing the "spinning wheel" indicator when checking for new mail"
you need to remove that... Take another bite to the apple an work on that!!!
