Hi I was receiving my mail through Apple's Mail program this morning and noticed 7 messges being sent out that I never wrote. I tried to stop and couldn't stop them. Any suggestions or ideas?

This is normal behavior (albeit confusing terminology) on the Activity thing for an IMAP email account. It does not mean you are actually sending messages. See, e.g.,

Mail is sending spam out on its own!!!

I have recently been getting a lot of "junk" mail saying "Undelivered Mail Returned to Sender" and "* has detected a suspected spam in a email from you" and "Delivery Status Notification (Failure)".
Now I am obviously not sending any of these emails manually but something seems to be sending them from my system.
Can anyone tell me how I can stop it doing this?

Was this always the case or did you train the junk filter to do so?
I use spamsieve which does require some training and yes I did train it. But it does recognise spoofed mail returns and it does filter them. It seems recognise what is a genuine bounced back mail and what is comes from a spoofed mail address.
spamsieve is the best filter I know for OSX if your not running your own mail server. If running a mail server your best using spam assasin.

My imessages are gone. i cant activate them now. When i go into send and recieve its only my e-mail address thats ticked and not my phone number ticked also. When i sign in with my apple ID it is ticked there. can anyone help me please.

Hi,
Go to the iPhone
GO to Settings > Messages
Is the iPhone Number ticked to be enabled (It will be greyed out and not editable but should be On)
If it is Off (Unticked remove the Apple ID)
Place the iPhone in Airplane mode for a few minutes.
Go back to Settings Messages and make sure the Message app Is Enabled overall.
Check the iPhone Number is verifying.
When Completed test by sending an iMessage to your Apple ID (Mac)
If that works add back the Apple ID to the iPhone's Settings.
Restart the Mac App and Accept the op ups that appear as to what the iPhone is using.

Launch the Console application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ If you’re running OS X 10.7 or later, open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Console in the page that opens.
Make sure the title of the Console window is All Messages. If it isn't, select All Messages from the SYSTEM LOG QUERIES menu on the left.
Click the Clear Display icon in the toolbar. Try the action again. Post any messages that appear in the Console window – the text, please, not a screenshot.
Important: Some private information, such as your name, may appear in the log. Edit it out by search-and-replace in a text editor before posting.

What makes you think that? What behaviour have you observed?
There are no viruses as such on OS X -- programs that can enter the computer from the network, install themselves, do bad things and pass themselves on to others.
There are trojans and other forms of malware. These usually require you to have downloaded and installed something.
OS X includes its own list of malware that it will not run. This is updated from time to time.
If you want to run a malware check, then ClamXav is the most common one.

Cannot send mail when out and about

Hey all
I recently got my Iphone4 and synced it to my mail on my computer. When using my iphone at home it send mail without a problems as it goes through my wifi I have. Internet is virgin media and mail is with windows mail by the way incase its important.
When I am out and about I can recieve email without a problem but cannot send anything at all.
What do I need to do so that I can send mail no matter where I am?

It's most likely exactly the same issue. Most ISPs only allow you to use their outgoing email server whilst connected to their internet service.
With a mobile device like an iPhone you won't always be connected to your ISPs internet service. Sometimes it will be your mobile network provider (when on 3G), or on some other WiFi service like a public hotspot in Starbucks or McDonalds.
When you are not connected to your ISPs internet service, you either have to use the SMTP server of the internet provider you are connected to (awkward to keep changing, even if you know it), or you "authenticate" your connection to your ISPs SMTP server (if they allow it) with a username and password so that they can verify it is you who is using their server and not some spammer.
The best way to avoid all this, is to use an email provider that is totally independent of any internet provider and will therefore work from anywhere, regardless of how you are connecting to the internet.
GMail and Apple's own MobileMe offer authenticated SMTP servers that work from anywhere.

Cant send mail out.

I'm running an Xserve ( new intel build) , using OS X server 10.5.5.
I can send mail from one user to another from within the domain. I can also receive email form the outside world.
however, I cant email out.
SMTP log file reports the following
"Oct 17 19:25:08 BHW1-Server postfix/qmgr[42665]: warning: connect to transport smtp: Connection refused
Oct 17 19:25:15 BHW1-Server postfix/smtpd[42715]: warning: 189.71.93.145: hostname 18971093145.user.veloxzone.com.br verification failed: nodename nor servname provided, or not known
Oct 17 19:25:48 BHW1-Server postfix/qmgr[42746]: warning: connect to transport smtp: Connection refused"
The ip changes based on whom I try to email to ( I assume I'm getting bounced by someone's mail relay or servers)
I have rebooted, restarted various services and am fairly convinced this is a configuration problem somewhere-
any mail guru's help out?

How is your server connected to the world? Are you relaying your mail server trough your ISP? Or is the domain you internally use, known on the internet? From the mail you try to send, is the info included in its envelope correct?
As I assume that you use an internal FQDN not publicly know, this is how I resolved a similar situation:
1. the server must be using the correct relay server
2. per (local) user the email address must be set to an allowed (publicly known) email address.

Why is the 'send' icon greyed out in mail? I cant send any mail.

Recently bought bought a Macbook pro so i'm new to this! My mail has been working fine both sending and receiving but recently the send icon is greyed out and I cant send anything! Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks for your reply. I tried it but it didn't work. After some playing around I found that the outgoing mail preferences had altered. Not sure why the setting changed but never the less its working again. Thanks again

lots of people seem to be havgin a problem sending email from iCloud webmail.
does your email address have uppercase characters in it?
if so, try creating an alias in lowercase (go to preferences in iCloud webmail and select 'accounts') and see if email sends okay from that

My e-mails are not sending. "connection to SMTP server timed out." How do I get this working?

As of yesterday, I am receiving e-mails fine; however, unable to send. Everytime I try to send an e-mail, I get "Sending of message failed. The message could not be sent because the connection to SMTP server (my mail address) timed out. Try again or contact your network administrator.
I received help from lunarpages (they host my domain); however, they were unable to resolve the issue. They suggested something is blocking IP, or need to update Thunderbird, or there's a firewall there...

To diagnose problems with Thunderbird, try one of the following:
*Restart Thunderbird with add-ons disabled (Thunderbird Safe Mode). On the Help menu, click on "Restart with Add-ons Disabled". Mail running under LIon no longer grays out the name of the sender of an email that has been read. How can I get that to happen?

Under the old version of Mail, when an e-mail was read, the name of the sender was greted out so that I knew I had read that email. This does not seem to happen under the new Mail thaqt came with Lion. Help!?

error message. In fact nothing happens. My name and
key are typed in and from what I understand, once you
do that with a real key it directs you to the
registration page. When I get done entering the
information the window just sits there without any
button or option to continue.
QT Pro is already in the QT (non-pro) you installed and the key (which is a hash of your name in part) allows the Pro features to work.
No redirect, internet, nothing like that. As such many people have activated and think they haven't. Just look at the menu items and see if the "Pro" logo is shown next to a few (which are greyed out and not available without Pro). If not you are done.

IPhone Mail app send button greyed out

I have a new iPhone 6 plus with a single IMAP mail account. I can receive mail and reply to mail that's been sent to me but when I start a new mail item the send button is greyed out.
My mail server settings are correct and I've tried reentering the SMTP details, resetting the network settings and restarting the phone. I've tried sending to different addresses and always include a subject and text in the body but the send option never becomes available.

Open Mail Preferences/Accounts/Account information. In the box for the Outgoing Server, I suspect None is selected? Make a selection of the correct SMTP, and that should resolve.

In T-code VF03 , My user will be giving only one transaction medium as External send.
But he needs the print out of the invoice also. how can we arrive at the solution for this..

Yes, it is possible.
As you are aware, the medium will be selected as per the input:
1     Print output
2     Fax
4     Telex
5     External send
6     EDI
7     Simple Mail
8     Special function
9     Events (SAP Business Workflow)
A     Distribution (ALE)
If the user is selecting the Print output and he wants the same to be mailed, then add the logic to send the mail in the Z program.
You can get the value for medium in the program with the NAST-NACHA structure.
Please let me know if any more details are required.
