Mail sending stops working after a day

I have a strange behaviour with my email accounts. I noticed the problem first when I updated to the new 2.0 software. After restoring the phone, I set up my two email accounts (one MobileMe and one "other" from my university). Both receiving and sending from the two accounts works perfectly. After usually a day or so, emails suddenly won't send anymore. When I hit "send", it says "Sending..." on the bottom of the screen but nothing happens anymore.
I can get rid of this "blocking" email by turning off the phone, but that doesn't solve the problem. The next email I try to send again stalls and does not go out. The only way of fixing it is a full Restore and setting it up as a new phone (not using any previous backups).
Does anyone here have the same problem? I read about many users who get error messages when they try to send emails, but this seems to be a different problem. It is also unrelated to the account settings, since I tried it with two different mail accounts.
Any help is appreciated!

Yep - I got this yesterday, and twice again today ...
yesterday, I dropped a line to my ISP (using web-mail from our iMac), and later, with no word from them, I found I could send e-mails again ... no idea whether they did anything or not, but from a previous thread somewhere else on Discussions, I'd heard that ISPs have various automated ways to deal with spams & viruses & the like, and that sometimes individuals get caught up in this & get blocked (and that ISP tech' help generally don't see this, blame the customer's set-up in some way, and so don't resolve ... )
then, today, when it happened again, instead I went straight to Settings, Mail ... , Account ... and found the Outgoing Mail Server / Advanced / Server Port number had changed from what it had been yesterday (after editing it, and backing out, I could send again)
and when it happened yet again, I did the same & found the Incoming Mail Server Password had disappeared (typed it in, backed-out, and ... still couldn't send, so repeated the excercise & this time it worked - my typing or what, no idea)
HTH - no idea if it's a bug in Mail or the OS (we're on 2.0.2), just coincidence, or ... whatever !!

  • Mail app stopped working after upgrade to Mavericks

    Dear All,
I have updated from Mountain Lion (Macbook Pro 3,1, 256SSD) to Mavericks, and mail app stopped working.
That means - when I click the icon - the app does not work.
I can see that it downloads mail - as when I click it I receive notifcation that it has downloaded some mail, however I cannot open window. Sometimes I manage to open it, but it is totally unresponsive - I cannot change or click anything in it.
I have tried repairing disk permissions but without any success.
Moreover if I run mail app and try to click "new message" from the top bar, the window that appears is somewhat mixed with my wallpaper backround (I can see fragments of it).
Please help me, as I had there a few gigs of precious mails that I don't want to lose...
    Thank you in advance!
    Olek

    Do a backup.
Take notes of all account information or take screen shots. You may need to set the accounts up again. Quit Mail.
    Copy the line below.
    ~/Library/Containers/com.apple.mail
Select Go/Go To Folder from the Finder menu bar. Paste the line into the window. You won’t see it.
Move the folder com.apple.mail to your desktop. You must move the entire folder, not just the contents.
Relaunch Mail and test. If the problem is solved, recreate any required Mail settings and import any emails you want to save from the folder on the desktop. If the problem remains, return the folder to where you got it replacing the one that is there.
    Information learned from Linc Davis.
If you prefer to make your user library permanently visible, use the Terminal command found below.
Show User Library Directory in Mac OS X 10.7 Lion & 10.8 Mountain Lion
You might want to bookmark the command. I had to use it again after every update. I have also been informed that if you drag the user library to Finder it will remain visible.

Looking at the trace it iloks weird that it is adding a -ve integer -2147483397 into the instance name.
Edited by: Abhishek on Apr 20, 2013 8:20 AM
Edited by: Abhishek on Apr 20, 2013 4:16 PM

After looking at ADF source code, ApplicationModuleImpl.doCreateViewObject() is referring to JboNameUtil.getInstNameFromDefName() which is using a static counter (int value) as suffix. The counter being an int value is reaching the upper limit and then turning out to negative when incremented and then leading to above exception.
In above stack trace the instance name is ViewDefMetadataManager4569314_-2147483397 , has a negative number at the end. So JboNameUtil.isNameValid(rsName) is returning false and the exception InvalidObjNameException is thrown at that point.
If this is the case, it appeared to be ADF bug.
Have you tested the application with application module pooling turned off? It might be an activation/passivation problem.
We use bean data control, no pooling configuration set.
Do you work in a cluster environment?
Yes but ADF is installed on a single server (Weblogic)
Do you see any more nested errors in the log?
This was the first error . After that we see same error whenever any of the UI is opened but with different VO name
Is it always three days before the error does up?
This is the first time uptime test is spawned to 3 days for this release
Does the application work after a refers or new login?
No, on new login , we see same error whenever any of the UIs is opened but with different VO name with -ve number at the end
Which operating system does the server run on? How much memory is installed?
    Windows server 2008 , 16GB
Was there a high cpu usage at the time of the error?
We are testing it using load runner and multiple users

  • Adobe Acrobat x (as a component of the CS6 web premium package) has stopped working after 30 days

Acrobat x (as a component of design and web premiun CS6)  has stopped working30 days after installation. I am not running a trial version of CS6 - I have a valid licensed copy.
    What is going on?

    More details
The software Design and Web Premium CS6 was purchased / installed / and activated just over 30 days ago
All components worked fine after install
30 days after install Acrobat X just stopped working - it will not startup - no error message seen - just does not starup (not even the hour glass). All other components still work fine.
Beta CS6 Software and prerelease CS6 Software had previously been deactivated and uninstalled prior to install.
    System is 64 bit Windows 7, CS6 64 bit - 8GB RAM, Duo Core 3GHZ Intel, AMD 6870 1GB GPU.
Google the same issue and you'll find there are numerous people who have the same problem - current recommendation from Adobe is to deactivate and activate again. This sounds like another 30 day workaround

  • Toshiba-Satellite Laptop Model C655-55225 stopped working after 90 days

I purchased a Toshiba - Satellite Laptop on 9/30/2011, it completely stopped working on 1/5/12. The laptop was not even used until 12/25/11, as it was a Christmas present for my husband.  I called Customer Service at Best Buy because Toshiba Customer Service has been of no help, only to be told to call Toshiba.  When I called Toshiba the first time they had us run some diagnostics on the laptop, which did not help at all.  The computer will not even power up.  Please keep in mind this laptop was gently used and well taken care of for the two weeks it was in use.  There were no bumps, drops, virus or spills.   I have spent a small fortune on products at Best Buy this holiday season and this is how they treat their customers?  They offered no suggestions or help at all with a product they sold or offered to intercede with Toshiba.  I can tell you with all certainty I will never buy another Toshiba product nor darken a BestBuy entryway.  The customer service is equally awful with both companies.

Did they give you any other reason why they wouldn't send it out? It is a pretty common procedure to send it out under manufacturers warranty and I am surprised they would shoot you down. Did you talk to geeksquad or just customer service?

  • Mail accounts stop working after few time or sleep

Hi everyone. First at all sorry about my english.
Since few days ago, and probably after run onyx, im experiencing a bug in Mail.
When i start mail, everything its ok. Its works perfect.
But, after maybe 2 hours running (usually i have mail on autostart), i see that all my acounts have the triangle on it.
I click on the triangle and tryed to reconnect all accounts but it does nothing. All of them still not working.
I run the test and all accounts have the red mark of error.
It usually happends when i awake the macbook after sleep.
It has easy solution. Close mail, and open mail again and is ok, everything working normaly, but after some time i have the same problem.
    Any suggestions?
    Thank you.

If I first delete the accounts, doesn't all the mail I've already got get dumped?
    Could I avoid this?
How do I troubleshoot first? It works so well that I've not had to do this.

  • Network connection stops working after 3 days

My Mini is never switched off, but is often put to sleep. After near-faultless operation since new, it has recently (possibly coinciding with the upgrade to 10.4.10) started having a recurring networking issue.
After a small number of days, the network connection becomes unusable - neither Safari or Mail will work. Strangely other tools appear OK (e.g. traceroute www.whereiwork.com worked fine). Rebooting always temporarily fixes the issue.
The time interval may vary, but on this most recent occassion I checked the uptime before rebooting, and it was just 3 days.
Next time it occurs, what can I do to identify the cause of the problem?

Well, just under 4 days since the last reboot and it's done the same again...
It seems it's not entirely failed, but certainly doesn't work well enough to be useful.
e.g. if I start a ChickenOfTheVNC session to another machine on the LAN it appears to make a successful connection and creates a window of the right size but never fills it in. The server machine agrees that a connection has been made, but disconnects the client after a long-ish timeout.
Some other semi-random things I've tried:
/etc/resolv.conf has an entry in it referring to my router.
    ifconfig en0 down
    ifconfig en0 up
    ...makes no difference
Unplugging, then replugging the Cat5 makes no difference.
Rebooting the router makes no difference.
Not knowing enough about the inner workings of OS X, I'm going to have to resort to a machine reboot again. If anybody has any bright ideas for debugging this, it's due to go again sometime on Saturday afternoon.
(The procedure for "rolling back to .9" seems more disruptive than the problem itself, for now at least...)

  • Why does 5S Touch ID stop working after a day?

When I teach my iPhone 5S to recognize my fingerprint, it does so for awhile, but the more time passes the less likely it will work (Try Again . . . Try Again . . .). It doesn't matter which fingers or thumb I use, or how many I train the phone to recognize, the whole interface breaks down in less than 48 hours.
    Any idea what's going on?

    Hello, barracuda 5.
Thank you for visiting Apple Support Communities.
Here is an article that I would recommend when experiencing this issue.
    Troubleshooting Touch ID
Verify that you are using the latest version of iOS.
Ensure that your fingers and the Home button are clean and dry.*
Note: Cover the Home button completely. Don't tap too quickly, don't press down hard, and don't move your finger while Touch ID is scanning.
Tap Settings > General > Touch ID & Passcode > Touch ID and verify that:
iPhone Unlock or iTunes & App Store is enabled.
One or more fingerprints have been enrolled.
If one finger isn't working, tap Edit in Settings > General > Touch ID & Passcode > Touch ID > Edit to delete and then reenroll the finger.
If that finger still isn't working, try enrolling a different finger.
If you are unable to enroll any of your fingers, take your iPhone 5s to an Apple Retail Store, Apple Authorized Service Provider, or contact AppleCare for further assistance.
    * Moisture, lotions, sweat, oils, cuts, or dry skin may affect fingerprint recognition. Certain activities can also temporarily affect fingerprint recognition, including exercising, showering, swimming, cooking, or other conditions or changes that affect your fingerprint.
    iPhone 5s: Using Touch ID
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5883
If none of the steps resolve the issue, please see step 6 in the article.
    Cheers,
    Jason H.

  • My earpods stopped working after 2 days, refund?

came with ipod touch 5g, less than an hour of total use, no physical damage at all.

If it's only two days and you have all the packaging, you should be able to get a refund as Apple has a 14 day return policy.

  • First USB port stops working after random time and won't work until I restart

    Hey guys
I have this problem on my late 2011 Macbook Pro 13 inch,
It's been for a year already and it really freaks me out and drive me crazy
My first USB port next to the thunderbolt stops working after like 3 days, and it won't respond until I restart my computer or log off and log in again.
If I restart my computer, USB stops working after 3 days and won't respond until I restart
If I log off it works for like a couple of hours and then stops again
I have tried EVERYTHING, SMC reset - no luck, PRAM reset - same results, Upgraded to lion same results, Upgraded to mountain lion - SAME RESULT
And I can't take it to an apple store because I'm not from the US
I am 100% sure this is a software problem and I've seen here that many people have faced this problem
Please help, it really freaks me out

I'm sure this isn't what you want to hear but unless you really are using your laptop 24 hours a day, is there any reason why you don't just shut it down and reboot when you're ready to use it again? I have to wonder how many other MacBook Pro owners potentially have the same problem but when they quit computing for the day, their computers quit too.

  • Mail stopped working after replacing primary HD

Apple Mail stopped working after replacing and restoring the Main Hard Drive in the upper bay.  Internet connection is good, and the Mail client troubleshooting (Comcast) was no help.  I can start the App, but it does not retrieve or send mail through Comcast anymore.  I have a MacBook Pro with the same settings and Mail works fine.

    Thanks for replying.
This is odd because my PowerMac G5 with Leopard Mail cannot receive or send email.  Connection doctor is showing all red dots on every email account with Comcast (BTW, GMAIL accounts okay).  On my Blackberry, and my MacBook Pro (Lion), the setting are all the same, passwords, etc., and the later two have no issues.  I even created a test Administrator Account in "Accounts" in System Preferences on the G5, logged into the Test Account and tried to create a new mail account with the same settings, and yet during the set-up (Welcome to Mail), I get an error message that says Mail cannot log into Comcast's POP server with the current settings.  I have also tried changing passwords, no help. Also the usual disk repair, permissions,  motherboard resets, zapping PRAM, etc.
    Out of ideas...
    Thanks for any help...
