Re: Manage Telstra Online Security account
I want to know if Telstra online security is active on my account or any other active antivirus software. It tells me it DOES but I often receive pop-ups that tell me it's expired or inactive. I never click on the pop-ups for fear they are actually malware.
I want to know if my computer has any malware that may effect it.
I tried to access your free malware scan but couldn't find anywhere to activate it - just information about it.

  • Manage Telstra Online Security Parental Controls

If you find the BigPond Parental Controls profile you are using is no longer working well for your family, you can change your protection quite easily either from within the BigPond Security console on your computer, or from My Telstra Security.
Logging into Parental Controls from My BigPond Security
    Step 1
From a computer which has Telstra Online Security installed Log into My Telstra Online Security. You'll need your Telstra Username and Password. Click on the Parental Controls module to open the options and click "Launch".
    Step 2
Click on the Parental Controls tab at the top of the screen then Manage Your Policies and then Click "Edit":
    Step 3
Enter your Telstra Online Security username and password.
    Step 4
Choose the profile you would like to your protection to be.
    Step 5:
Click Continue. Now all your computers which use Telstra Online Security Parental Controls default protection are now protected by that Profile.

    The information is wrong
there is no telstra security link, its garbage. you click the highlighted links and it just takes you to the telstra home page, no security link or tab in sight. been on the phone for 15 mins now and being redirected again to someone who can help. this is pathetic, its to difficult and convoluted to set this up. I bet thats why so few parents do it, you the service provider this is a big issue

  • Troubleshooting tips for installing Telstra Online Security

Following are some common scenarios you may encounter while installing Telstra Online Security.
    Possible active x issues
When Clicking on the ActiveX download bar, I see the option "Run add-on" instead of "Install ActiveX"? This occurs if you have previously installed or attempted to install BigPond Security on this computer. Because the Active X component is already installed you can choose the option "Run Add-on" to progress with the installation.
When I click to download the ActiveX component, I am taken back to the beginning of the installation Wizard.
This occurs when your browser has installed the ActiveX component, but cannot run the newly installed Active X component and needs to refresh itself. Continue with the Installation Web Wizard if you have been directed back to the first page.
    Other known issues
Whilst installing Telstra Online Security you may experience issues which can cause the Windows Based Installation Wizard (WBIW) to fail.
Fail to load ActiveX download bar
WBIW freezes during System Check Stage
Fails to download Telstra Online Security components
General Internet Explorer error messages during WBIW
Perform Windows Update and remove conflicting software
Prior to trying any of the solutions please ensure you have:
Completed the Windows Update process, and
Removed any conflicting 3rd Party applications.
    Resolving Issues
You should only perform the following for issues which cannot be resolved by updating Windows and removing conflicting software:
    Step 1
Please download the file FixIE.bat file (Registers Internet Explorer and MSXML files needed by the Web Installer)
    Step 2
Close all opened Internet Explorer windows
    Step 3
    Double click the FixIE.bat file
    Step 4
Re-launch Internet Explorer application, and follow previously used link to launch the Telstra Online Security WBIW and follow required steps.

When accessing Big Pond Security through Telstra My Account, the computers I had downloaded Big Pond Security to used to be identified by name. Now only told I have downloaded to 4 computers, with 4 icons, but nothing to identify which icon belongs to which computer.Decided to rename the computer I am currently logged into, and reinstall. Do that but then do not have product key.

  • Turn Telstra Online Security features on or off

Likewise, setting it to Always on or Prompt will enable it:
    Step 4
To change settings related to Telstra Online Security's firewall, select the Firewall Settings page from the left-hand menu. Here you can choose to either disable or enable Telstra Online Security's firewall features.
    Step 5
Once you are finished adjusting your settings, select OK to close the settings screen.
If you want to shut down the Telstra Online Security on your computer:

Re: Turn Telstra Online Security features on or off
I am connected to the Internet via cable and the modem provides Wi-Fi connection. I have given access to the Wi-F to my grandkids lap top & smart phone. They are using all my data. How do I block them? I don't wish to take them off just block them when the usage is high i.e can I turn the Wi-Fi on and off as and when I want to.

Re: Install and activate Telstra Online Security
Trying to follow the emailed instructions to load Online Security onto a new HP Pavilion with Windows 8.1 .
When I load Online Security and re-start, it returns to the download routine and tells me there is an old version that needs to be removed. It goes into an endless loop of removing/re-installing/re-starting.
When I try to load Safe Browser it locks the computer after indicating approximately 75% complete. I tried several times. On one occasion I had to "REFRESH" the laptop and this re-initialised the computer, taking me back to the initial set-up of the device.
The instructions appear to be out of date.

  • Upgrade Telstra Online Security for additional protection

If you need to protect more than one computer, you might need to upgrade your account. You can choose to pay to protect yourself for another 12 months if you like, however it isn't required as long as your account is currently active.
    Visit My BigPond
If you are protecting a new computer Press Upgrade on one of the available licences
Click Accept to take a 12 month subscription or Ask me again later to proceed straight to the installer
If you wish to protect your family with Parental Controls or Safe Social:
    Visit My BigPond
Click Safe Social or Parental Controls
Click Accept to take a 12 month subscription or Not Now to proceed straight to the other service
If you are currently in a Minimum Term
The minimum term of your existing subscription will end on the date you accept the paid upgrade,
A new minimum term will start from the date that you complete your upgrade,
Your new upfront payment will be the standard charge less the following amount: Your original payment X number of months remaining in your minimum term /Total number of months in your minimum term.

  • Security Account Management

    Dear All
Can someone tell the scenarios where we use Securities Account Management in Treasury and Risk Management. Do we use it against an investment trade with a counterparty i.e. when we borrow/purchase financial asset

    Hi,
the "Security Account Management" is part of the Corporate Finance Management so it is dedicated primary to the activities of a company that want to display the security activities.
It is (primary) NOT designed to indicate the activities of a investment company like investment funds or portfolio managers. Even this is possible in a limited range too. I hope this answer will help you.

  • Sync Project Online Security Group to SharePoint Security Groups

    Hi,
Is there any way to sync prject server security group(Custom) into SharePoint Security Groups.
My scenario is: I created a document library, I want to apply project server security on it, based on project server security groups, for that currently I created a custom group in sharepoint and manualy added the users into that group. That doesn't looks
good, because if my project online group will change, than manually I have to change sharepoint group too. So what I want is, that sharepoint group is automatically synced with project online group.
Or is there any other way to assign project online security in document library?
    Thanks
    PSN

No there is no workaround other then creating a group on Office 365 server.
SharePoint Online lets you create security groups via the Admin Overview page
    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/magazine/hh395478.aspx
Just found a 3rd part. check if it can help
    http://en.share-gate.com/blog/migrate-to-office-365-configure-sharepoint-to-use-active-directory
Active Directory Synchronization: Allows you to sync your Active Directory Objects such as users and groups to your Office 365 account. This is a one-way synchronization, which means you continue to manage users On-Premises, and your changes
will appear on Office 365 SharePoint. However, authentication and passwords are still managed by Office 365. It will be required for Password Sync and Single Sign On (see below).

  • I cannot create an Apple ID username or manage my Apple ID account

    Hi!
I'm lucky to be able to ask these questions at all: I'm using my father's apple ID at the moment. I tried to ask a question (concerning another problem I'm having) using my own account, but I get stuck in some sort of strange loop: I have to choose a 'username' in order to be able to use the support communities. I enter the username I would like, click 'continue', but then I get the warning: 'an account utilizing this email address already exists. Only one account per email address is allowed on Apple Support Communities.' Yet, I didn't try to create a new account using an email address that is already linked to another account, I merely wanted to choose a username to go along with my existing apple ID. (As a said, I am now using my father's apple ID and the username he made just now while we are trying to figure out what is going wrong and hoping to see whether he would experience the same problems.)
So, upon receiving this warning I go to 'My Apple ID' at the bottom of the screen, I fill in my password, and the screen I'm sent to is again the one where I can create my username. My father doing the same thing on the other hand - he was able to create a username just fine - upon entering his password, is sent to the correct screen where he can edit and manage his personal information (like change his password or the password security questions.)
So basically, I am not able to create a username connected to my own Apple ID, and I cannot even enter the screen where I can manage my Apple ID account. (This is true for both Safari and Firefox (I'm using the latter at the moment).)
It might be an important piece of information that this problem (of not being able to choose a username, not being able to access the communities, and not being able to alter my apple ID) is only my problem and not my dad’s. I can do all those things just fine with his account. Whether it is in Firefox or in Safari.
What could be the problem here?
Help would be very much appreciated!

    According to Create an AppleID:
Choose an Apple ID and password.
Enter your primary email address as your Apple ID. This will be used as the contact email address for your account. Please note that this email address must be verified before you can use certain Apple services.
And, unless I'm missing something, it appears that you're trying to use your father's e-mail address. Start at Find your AppleID and see if you can resolve the issue.

  • Solved: I cannot manage (bring online, initialize, partition, format, or write to) a VHDX hard drive once it has "Enable Virtual Hard Disk Sharing" enabled.

    Hello,
    Issue:
On a Virtual Machine with a secondary VHDX attached, I cannot manage (bring online, initialize, partition, format, or write to) the VHDX hard drive once it has "Enable Virtual Hard Disk Sharing (VHD Sharing)" enabled.
    Questions:
Should I be able to manage (bring online, initialize, partition, format, and write to) a VHDX hard drive once it has VHD Sharing enabled? If I should be able to manage it, what am I missing?
    Topography:
One SuperMicro Cluster In a Box (CIB) with 2012 R2 Data Center on each node. Microsoft Failover Cluster installed and working on each node. The Failover Cluster Servers on each host passes all cluster validation tests. Two Hyper-V 2012 R2 Data Center Virtual
Machine (VM) servers, one on each node. 1 common Cluster Shared Volume (CSV) and 1 Generation 2 Scale-Out File Server (SOFS) shared volume both Resilient File System (REFS) formatted. One 5 Gigabit (Gb) Virtual Hard Drive Type X (VHDX) file on the CSV and/or
SOFS. Integrity bit and read only turned off on VHDX file.
Each of the two Hyper-V VMs have one 127Gb VHDX Generation 2 primary hard drive and 1 VHDX secondary hard drive attached, both on SCSI Controller #1.
    Background:
If I start VM1 without the VHD Sharing enabled on the secondary hard drive, I can bring the drive online, initialize, partition, format, and write to the drive.
If I enable VHD Sharing, I can no longer modify the drive in Disk Management in any way. With or without VM2 running.
Both VMs and the CSV and SOFS are on the same host cluster server, or not, no difference…
The VHDX is referenced either by the CSV name C:\ClusterStorage\Volume1\TEST1.VHDX
     or a Shared Folder name
    \\sharedfolder\folder\Test1.VHDX .
If I start VM1 with VHD Sharing disabled and I format the drive, then shut down and enable VHD Sharing, the drive is offline and requests initialization which fails with an "I/O device error", every other attempt to manage the drive fails with
the same "I/O device error", error.

    Hi All,
I had to buy a Willy Wonka bar and spend a golden ticket to get an answer to this one.
We found that the default LogicalSectorSizeBytes of a VHDX is 512b. It needs to be 4kb.
The Host drive doesn't seem to matter CSV or SOFS. Below is a way to create a VHDX with the correct LogicalSectorSizeBytes.
    In Power Shell, type --> New-VHD -Path C:\ClusterStorage\Volume4\Cluster2DataDisks\Cluster2Disk1.vhdx -SizeBytes 200Gb -PhysicalSectorSizeBytes 4kb -LogicalSectorSizeBytes 4kb
Attach the resulting file to your guest cluster servers and set the Enable Virtual Hard Disk Sharing option on both server. You should now be able to bring the drives on-line and initialize them. They will also add to the guest cluster pool.
Change the size, path and file name above to fit your Cluster Servers configuration.
    Thank You
Sachin Kumar Support Engineer | Windows Server Setup Team | Microsoft Enterprise Platform for finding the answer to this one.
    Hope this helps others.

  • Office Web Apps - Best Practice for App Pool Security Account?

    Guys,
I am finalising my testing of Office Web Apps, and ready to move onto deploying it to my live farm.
Generally speaking, I put service applications in their own application pool.
Obviously by doing so this has an overhead on memory and processing, however generally speaking it is best practice from a security perspective when using separate accounts.
I have to create 3 new service applications in order to deploy Office Web Apps, in my test environment these are using the Default SharePoint app pool.
Should I create one application pool for all my office web apps with a fresh service account, or does it make no odds from a security perspective to run them in the default app pool?
    Cheers,
    Conrad
    Conrad Goodman MCITP SA / MCTS: WSS3.0 + MOSS2007

i run my OWA under it's own service account (spOWA) and use only one app pool.  Just remember that if you go this route, "When
you create a new application pool, you can specify a security account used by the application pool to be either a predefined Network Service account or a managed account. The account must have db_datareader, db_datawriter, and execute permissions for the content
databases and the SharePoint configuration database, and be assigned to the db_owner role for the content databases." (http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ff431687.aspx)

  • I can no longer access my online banking account in firefox

I can no longer access my online bank account in firefox, although I can in IE. I can get through the login ID and security question, but when I type in my password and click on login, it consistently tells me I have the wrong password. I have no trouble logging in with IE. I have deleted my history completely, deleted the sqlite files from my profile, and done everything else I can find in the support area with no results. I have been able to access this website for years in firefox, and all of a sudden today I cannot. I called the bank and they even reset my password and tested firefox on their end and said they have no problems with it. I have not installed any new addons. I disabled firefox preloader. Any suggestions?

I see you are using LastPass. Could that add-on be interfering with your login?? You could try disabling it temporarily under Tools > Add-ons to test that theory.

  • Mail V3.1 can not create a new Cablevision Optimum Online mail account

Apple Technical support asked me to report this on this forum.
I have OS X 10.5.1 with Mail 3.1. My ISP is Cablevision Optimum Online, which uses mail.optonline.net as their POP and SMTP servers.
Pre-existing mail accounts, created under 10.4.x (Tiger) work perfectly. I am unable to create a new mail account with this version of the mail program. Mail's Add Account dialog (wizard) hangs as soon as it tries to connect to the mail.optonline.com server. After a long time trying it just says it can not connect to the server. This happens if I choose the new (and default) "Automatically set up account" option or not. It happens on multiple Leopard systems. In other words, when the mail account setup wizard checks for connectivity to the mail.optonline.net POP server, it fails, even though the mail program has no problem interacting with that same server with accounts set up under a previous version.
We brought a MacBook to the Apple store, and the tech. at the genius bar could not get it to work. He said call the ISP. We did that, spent hours with the ISP tech who told me many people are complaining about this. I suspected it was a problem with the way Mail 3.1 was doing its initial connectivity check. Perhaps using an incompatible port (SSL setting perhaps).
After a good nights sleep, I figured out a work-around. I created a dummy GMail account, after it was created I modified it to have my Optonline account specifications, turned off SSL and it worked.
After I had circumvented this problem, someone else that had the same problem found a different resolution. We both also had .mac accounts defind. When they deleted their .Mac account from the mail program, they were able to create a new Optonline.net account. .Mac uses SSL.... interesting.
Thus, it seems that if you have a .Mac account with Mail 3.1 you can not create an Optonline.net account. A bug that I hope Apple fixes quickly.

iLounge had some good info on this topic. The KEY INFO in the post was that after you have gotten the account set up you need to turn off your WiFi router (if you have one) to reset it.
    http://forums.ilounge.com/showthread.php?t=221752
Here are the details on how Optonline says you set up an account:
    Name: type your name here
    Address: [email protected]
Description: whatever you want to put here
    Incoming Mail Server
    Host Name: mail.optonline.net
User Name: xxxxxxxxxx (don't add "@optonline.net" here, but put what goes before it)
    Password: your password here
    Outgoing Mail Server (SMTP)
    Host Name: mail.optonline.net
User Name: xxxxxxxxxx (don't add "@optonline.net" here, but put what goes before it)
    Password: your password here
My other settings under the "Advanced" tab look like this...
    Deleted Messages
    Remove: Never
    Incoming Settings:
    Use SSL: OFF
    Authentication: Password
    Delete from Server: Never
    Server Port: 110
    Outgoing Settings:
    Use SSL: OFF
    Authentication: Password
    Delete from Server: Never
    Server Port: 587
    ===========
This person adds "Oh, one more thing... after you save your account settings, you may need to turn off WIFI, then "power off"... then "power on" turn WIFI back on and try to get mail again after it connects."
    ============
Based on the information I read here and on iLounge I was able to get Optonline email working.
    1) Deleted my Dot Mac mail accounts in Apple Mail
    2) Created an Optonline account based on the details above from Optonline in Apple Mail
    3) Unplugged my Airport Extreme Base Station, waited 20 seconds, plugged it back in.
    4) I was then able to receive mail but not send on the Optonline SMTP server
    5) So...I then went back and checked the details on the Optonline account in Apple Mail. Not sure why but the SSL/authentication selections were changed. So I set them correctly based on the information above and saved. That worked and I was able to send email.
As you are having trouble with Apple Mail and Optonline (why else would you be reading this?) let me also mention that Optonline blocks Port 25 for outbound email so if you have non-Optimum Online email accounts and want to send email on that ISP's server you will not be able to do that unless (a) you pay Cablevision more for a business or boost account (b) use webmail (c) your ISP is willing to provide you with an alternative email port other than 25.

    ort 25 and Optimum Online
    Answer
All e-mail sent via the Internet is routed through Port 25, the channel used for communication between an e-mail client and an e-mail server. Activation of Port 25 is currently available with Optimum Online® Boost or Optimum Online for Business. Please continue reading for more information, including activation instructions.
    Port 25 Filtering/Blocking
To help control the amount of spam that originates from the Optimum Online network, Optimum Online filters outbound Port 25 e-mail (SMTP) traffic for all standard Optimum Online customers. This filtering is a common spam control measure used by Internet Service Providers. It not only prevents spam sent intentionally, but also thwarts computer viruses that let spammers connect to an unsuspecting customer's infected computer and send spam.
This filtering is transparent to the vast majority of our users. However, if you access a non-Optimum Online e-mail service with an e-mail client application (like Outlook Express), or run your own mail server, you may not be able to send and/or receive e-mail.
    Port 25 Availability
If you require Port 25 to be active, Optimum Online offers these options:
Subscribe to Optimum Online Boost. Click here for more information.
Businesses can subscribe to Optimum Online for Business or Optimum Online Boost for Business.
    Activating Port 25
If you subscribe to Optimum Online Boost, and would like to utilize Port 25, you'll need to activate it. Simply follow these steps:
Log into optimum.net using your Optimum ID and Password.
    Click on Optimum Services.
Click Manage from within the Advanced Config section.
Set Port 25 to On and click Submit. Your modem will be rebooted automatically. Once it starts up, Port 25 will be active.
Optimum Online for Business customers who do not subscribe to Optimum Online Boost can call Technical Support at 1-866-575-8000 to have Port 25 activated.
Workarounds for Standard Optimum Online Customers
If Port 25 filtering is affecting your ability to send or receive non-Optimum Online e-mail, here are some options you may choose to pursue:
Contact your e-mail service provider to see if they support alternate connection methods such as VPN or SMTPS.
If available, use your e-mail service provider's WebMail.

  • Managing multiple Office 365 accounts

    Hi
Does anyone have a good solution to managing multiple Office 365/Exchange 365 accounts? I provide IT services to a number of small businesses, all unrelated and I am responsible for over 6 separate instances of Office 365 (mostly Exchange, a couple also
have sharepoint) for clients. I also use it myself (Exchange and Sharepoint).
My issue is that as soon as I log into a client admin portal, it removes my authentication to my own or other accounts and I cannot use my own sharepoint or Exchange online services. I can only be logged in to one. As all my business runs in Sharepoint and
Exchange, this is very annoying. Outlook is OK, its authentication doesn't change when I log in as someone else (Outlook Web Access does obviously). I never had this issue with BPOS, the SSO application kept my business systems online even when I logged into
a client portal but now that there is no SSO, I dont have this luxury. My IE homepages are all my Office 365 portal pages and if I log in as another client, they all log into the client next time.
I need an intermediate portal interface that allows me to store credentials for each client separately and allow me to log into multiple online services accounts without affecting other accounts. I often find myself needing to access 2-3 accounts at the
same time and have to use different browsers for each one (it is close but not quite 100% in Firefox or Chrome). Does such a system exist? Surely I am not alone in managing many accounts at the same time. I can run multiple powershell sessions independently
but I dont want to do everything through powershell all the time and cannot log in as the client to check things this way.
    Regards
    Ben

If you want to work on your computer with different office 365 accounts, you don't need to run different browsers!
Since IE8 there is a hidden function called "New Session". It works great for SharePoint Online and it works if you want to login with different credentials to you SharePoint OnPremise during testing. I love it!
