Max number of key figures

In BI 2004s 7.0, how many key figures or the maximum number of key figures can a query have in the Column area that would not impede the performance of running the query? This would include key figures that use User Exit code for variables, RKFs, and CKFs.

I can't imagine a requirement that would have 175 key figures in a query. What would be the requirement?
It would be a big burden to maintain, support it, and change control. One of the tips to improving query performance is to break up the query with this number of key figures into smaller queries and make use of RRI. Workbooks are there for use with multiple worksheets or 1 worksheet with multiple grids. How would you improve query performance with this kind of query.
The key figures are created to be able to derive other key figures based on the RKFs that make use of the exit code that determines the dates from what the user enters.
Are you saying that a Business Analyst would use 175 key figures to do the analysis at a time? I have seen the most is 12 - 13 key figures that are not hidden and the 10 others are hidden because they are use for derivation - a total of 23 key figures in a query.

  • Experience with creation of a large number of key figures

    Hi:
I have a need to create a large number of Key Figures (at least about 50 of them) for DP use. Do you have any experience with automating this task if so, can you share your experience?  Thanks.
    Satish

    Hi,
So far we have not come across a need to automate KF creation. And 50 KF is not a huge number, it would take may be a couple of hours to create them. Also, since it is a one time activity, developing an automation script for the same does not sound useful. You might want to consider creating them manually so that you can ensure all settings are proper.
    Hope this helps.

  • Number of key Figures used in Query

    Hi,
I would like to know the number of queries in a Query,
Is there any way to find out this?
We have nearly 100 queries, and we were asked to find out the top 5 queries in terms of number of key figures.
    Thx.

    Hi Thejo,
There is no direct way to do this using another BW query simply because the data is not stored in either Masterdata Info Objects/CUBE ODS. They are stored in BW system tables which are not directly accesible by any queries to build using the Query Builder.
Try to locate the system table that holds these Info (Keyfigures + Query Name) and do ABAP Query instead.

Does anyone know where to change this limitation?

  • 15 Seconds in BW - 140 Seconds Additional in BO... Lots of Key Figures...

Hello, I'm trying to understand the BO performance on complex BEx queries... I have a BEx query that runs in about 20 seconds on the WEB with 25 restricted/calculated key figures...
WebI report based on a universe created on the BEx query above takes about 160 seconds... When I followed up steps to capture the MDX statement and used MDXTEST to see the time in BW, I can see that it comes back in 15 seconds... So, performance issue is not in the BW or in the generated MDX statement...
Any idea about where BO spends the remaining 140 seconds???  I can think of data transfer from BW into BO, preparing the output in WebI display but 140 seconds seems too much for all this...
When I drop the number of key figures to 15, total runtime goes down to about 70 seconds - a gain of 90 seconds...  So, I'm pretty sure it has something to do with the number of key figures...  But, if the heavy load is on the BW side to do the work and it takes 15 seconds, it sounds there is something wrong in BO and I'm wondering if anybody has any ideas to improve performance...
We do have BIA installed...  That's probably why MDX takes 15 seconds since the cubes behind the multi provider have millions of records...
    Thanks in advance!
    Cuneyt

To an extent you are right that number of key figures wil have an impact. The rest of the time being taken is for converting the result set from MDX format to WebI native format.
I have seen cases where during this conversion WebI Processing Servers used to run out of memory but this has been fixed/updated with new releases and fix packs.

  • Count the number of business partners on a non-cumulative key figure

    Dear experts,
I have a problem. We have an InfoCube in BW in which the Activity Journals are loaded every day. In this Activity Journals it is registered that a Material was listed (available) at a customer (value 0 or 1).
We have a non-cumulative key figure MXW_LISTN with inflow (MXW_LISTI) and outflow (MXW_LISTO). In time this key figure receives +1 or -1 for a customer, material combination.
I want to use MXW_LISTN in the query in a specific way. The key figure on itselve tells me how many listings there are. However, I want to know how many business partners there are with a listing.
I was thinking about an exception aggregation on MXW_LISTN with reference characteristic 0BPARTNER and "Count <> 0". BW however refuses to do so and only lets me do simple aggregations such as AVG, MIN, MAX etc.
Can you think with me and come with an proper solution to count the number of business partners with a listing?
Your help is very much appreciated and rewarded!

Would anything with virtual key figures be a solution? Please help me out!

  • Max no. of Characteristics and key figures stored in infocube

    Hi All,
What is the maximum number of characteristics and key figures that can be stored in the infocube?
    Best Regards,
    Chandan Dubey

    Alright,
Now what I know about that is max 255 chars and 255 key figures can be stored. Here I am talking about the individual planning levels (like product, product group, customer, location and so on) and not the "DATA".  I know data storage can not be defined in numbers and no significance too.
I hope my question is clearer now !!

  • BEx Query key figure sum different at monthly or at docu number level

I have a query designed in Query Designer. The report is summarized at the monthly level , but the document number is available for drilling down. What's strange is that the sum of the key figures is different when running at the monthly level or when drilling down at the document number level. Can someone share your insight on what how to solve this problem?
    Thanks,
    Sharon

    Hi Sharon
Which key figures give you an incorrect picture or discrpancies in the two displays ?
Check the properties of these key figures. Are any of the key figures posing an issue calculated as 'Formula'. If yes, then what is the Calculate Result as for this KEy Figure ? Is it TOTAL ?
    Cheers

  • Restricted Key figure - Displaying as normal number instead of currency

    Hello,
I'm creating a restricted key figure using 0AMOUNT which of course is currency, however in the cube that I'm using 0AMOUNT is used for both Dollars and Quantities.  The problem is 1) it is always displaying a $ symbol in front of the key figure and 2) it seems when I try to create a calculated key figure and try to add the 0AMOUNT to another 0QUANTITY infoObject I get an error (I'm presumming because I'm trying to add a number to a currency infoObject).
So my question(s) are 1) Can I format my new restricted key figure to always display as Quantity even though it's a currency info object
and 2) Can I do a calculated key figure adding a Currency InfoObject to a Quantity infoObject?
    Thank you very much!
    -Patrick

    1) For your first question, u don't to have the currency dollar displayed for the restricted 0amount instead you want the unit of quanity.?if you want to do this, you could make use of Excel's format options i.e go to
format-->.Style->Select the stdBexInput item and make the appropriate settings.
    2) You can use NODIM() function to add two different keyfigures.

  • Maximum  number of characteristics and  Key figures used in a Query

    Hi Experts,
Any Thought on the maximum number of Characterstics and key figures that can used in a Query. I know  it impacts performance query and runs for very long time.
    Thanks,
    Kumar.

    Hi Kumar,
    Welcome to SDN.
I really did not think about it till now, sharing my thoughts on this -
    1. You can use all the characteristics & Key Figure ( & more)in Query what you have in you Cube.
    2. Query is suppose to serve a purpose, to deliver you analytics based on some KPI etc & it will have maximum no of char / key figures which human mind could make some sense of.
    3. Performance of query actually is divided into three areas -
    a. database time
    b. OLAP time
    c. Front End time
and if you query on not performing well first look at which area is taking maximum time & the optimize that first & there are various ways to optimize each area.
    Hope it helps.

  • Can I write in the layout  in any Key figure something else then number ?

    Hi
    (sem - bps)
Can I write in the layout  in any Key figure something else then number ?
Let say I want to right in the key figure number with CHAR (the letters a-z)
    Can I do so ?
Can a key figure  has char other then number ?

no i can't , because the user want to assign a characteristic ,for example (the layout) :
    0employye  0amount 0project
    P1211111   1000   #
after the user will assign :
    0employye  0amount 0project
    P1211111   1000   ea-5819
can the user assign 0project ?
the current solution i mange to build was :
    a variable with 2 characteristic 0employee & 0project
and with user exit i move the values to Variable
,and in the fox i use substr to split the variable ,
    the code is :

  • Number of days required in Key Figures

how to take "number of days" from date characterisstic to  key figure for giving formula's on that?

    Hi,
you can  define date as a Characterstic/Key Figure. It all depends on how you would like to use it in a query.
For example: By having dates defined as Key Fig. you can restrict them and use them as variable for the other Key Fig. While defining them as characteristics you have the advantage of query analysis with respect to dates.

  • The table name or tcode to count the number of Dimensions and Key Figures

    Hi all,
Do you have an idea about the table name or tcode to count the number of Dimensions and Key Figures of an Infocube WITHOUT installing the cube from Business Content?
    Thanks in adv.
    Ajay

    Hi,
You can't do that because there's no active table in the system for the Business Content since it hasn't been installed yet...
One thing you could do is go to the Business Content Tab, select "Infoproviders by InfoArea" on the left side, look for the Cube or DSO you want to check, right click on it and select "Display Description".
On the window that opens you'll have a list of all InfoObjects and Key Figures. You also have the option to Display it as Start Schema, where you can see the Dimensions, etc.
    Hope this helps.

    Dear experts,
At cube level PO qty value is getting 0.010 where as in bex report output of PO qty showing as 0. I have chosen decimal places as 0.000 in key figure additional properties tab. In query designer also I have chosen no of decimal places as 0.000 in display propertiesu2026please help me out. How can I get 0.010 value in report o/p.
    Thanks in advance.
    Srivalli.

    Hi,
Try to run the query in RSRT. CHeck if you are getting the same output. Also make sure that in the reports all the filters are same as you have applied in the info -cube to see the data.
