MBP Retina with HDMI to my TV blue screen

I just purchased a Macbook Pro w/ Retina display a couple months ago.  I recently tried connecting it to my TV via HDMI and when I did so both the screens went blue.  I tried using a different HDMI cable and also restarted the computer and produced the same results.
Has anyone experienced a similar issue and/or has anyone found a solution?

Are you going to take it into a apple store, i have a Mac book pro retina but never tried hooking it up to HDMI i will try this afternoon.

    Thanks,

I have found the solution to this problem - hope you are still watching the thread.
Express install in parallels seems to be the culprit. Do a custom install instead and set your own virtual hard disk size. I set mine to 12 Gb (12000 Mb)and made it a fixed size instead of "growing" or whatever the heck parallels calls it. I also chose shared network instead of "bridged" (I read that someone else had identified this as part of the problem).
After making those changes it worked like a charm.

  • How to record MBP Retina with External Capture Card?

I want to record games on my Mac, such as Minecraft and Amnesia, with my Avermedia Live Gamer Portable (in order to reduce the lag I get with using Quicktime), but whenever I try to it will not let me record. I have been told that this is because there is HDCP on the HDMI port on the MBP Retina. So I was wondering if anyone knows how to get around this?
Any help would be much appreciated!

    Hi there,
If I'm not mistaken, I think you need to have the power cable in for clamshell mode to work.
If you make sure the power is in you should be able to wake the MBP up from sleep mode with it shut and plugged into another display.

  • MBP Retina: Missing HDMI Audio Option

Using my MBP Retina, I've tried connecting my Pioneer home theater receiver using the built-in HDMI port. The video works great, but there is no option in the Sound System Preferences menu to use the HDMI Audio as the main output. What am I missing?

Fixed with 10.8.2............although the first time I plugged the HDMI cable in it didn't work........so I unplugged it and plugged it in again and it did.........it was like it had to learn what a TV was or something.
Still doesn't have any audio controls for the TV though.......which is lame........come on Apple!

  • Apple policy on MBP Retina with dead pixel

    Hi
New MBP retina (<90 days) with dead pixel just appeared 2 days ago.
Did anyone experience this and what's the Apple policy on this ?
    Thanks
    V

Call Customer Support and have them replace the screen. They will send you a box to mail to depot.
I had a MacBook Pro with a dead pixel and left speaker out. My MBP was 4 years old, definently out of warrenty. I called Apple, and they replaced the display without charge.
I received the box on Wednesday, mailed it on Thursday (FedEx) and got my fixed MBP back on Friday, same week! This is why I still buy Apple.
When calling customer service, stress that you have more than one pixel out, as you probably have a cluster. Have them do the repair at depot not at any Apple Store. Make sure, since you are still with 90 days, fix it for free.
    Should not be a problem.

  • MBP retina with an external boot drive

What does one have to do to boot the MBP retina from an external drive ?
A bootable partition on a G drive using USB 2 mounts but will not boot the MBP retina. Works fine with the air from last fall. Basically I'm trying to run DiskWarrior.
What about the Buffalo drive with Thunderbolt - will that boot the MBP retina ?
    Thanks for any suggestions !

I am having the same problem, more or less. But even after reformatting the old systems disk that had LIon on it with a fresh copy of Mavericks it it still refused to mount.
Hi, I have a rather interesting problem in that I'm trying to get osx 7.5 to boot in diskboot mode from a promise pegasus2 drive.
Theoritically the new format should mount but wont.  If there are drivers that the new MBP must reconize to mount lion then it must also apply to files that controll how the disk that Lion is installed on as well.
If someone as an answer to this I would very much appreciate your assistance.
    thanks.

  • MBP Retina with VGA Projector

Yesterday, I tried my new MBP Retina for the first time with a VGA adapter and a projector .  I found the same problem I've had with other low res apps.  I only saw a portion of the screen on the projector.  Oddly, it showed only my wallpaper for a couple minutes, then finally showed what looked like  the left portion of an Excel spreadsheet I was trying to display.  What am I doing wrong?

You may have it set up to act like a separate display in which it would show your wallpaper and would show some of the screen because the rest of your excel spreadsheet might me going over to the projector.
I check this go to. System Prefrences > Display > Arrangement (In the top bar) > Check the mirror display button is checked. If not try checking it.
If that doesn't work let me know and I'll look into it more.
    Hope this helps.

    Hello Mr.lollo14,
I would not be able to tell you how much it will cost to get your MacBook Pro and that will be something you will need to discuss at an Apple Store or an Apple Authorized service Provider. Take a look at the article below for more information about setting your Mac up for service.

Try again with Vista 32bit, 64bit is highly unstable and only a few have it running stable.
I've been running Vista x64 for the past nine months, and now with my K9A2 P--and have had no problems.  I mean, none.  Have not had any occasion to even consider reinstalling Vista x32. Vista x64 has been stable as a rock for me consistently since I installed it.  Would not consider going back to XP under any circumstances.
There is a problem with Beard0's system that I would say boils down to device drivers or faulty hardware or some combination thereof.  His experience is dramatically different from my own, and the problems he's having are not indicative of my experience with Vista, whether x86 or x64.

  • Itunes on Windows Vista with SATA Intel Raid Matrix, BLUE SCREEN!

If I wasn't an IT Administrator this problem could've really upset me. I might have perceived your software crashed my hard drives. At least I had the knowledge to know how to re-detect my raid array and get things going; but for a moment i was worried too.
Issue: I have the known problem between APPLE's QUICKTIME and how it negates disk issues with Windows Vista; specifically for those using a RAID ARRAY.
Immediately upon loading the itunes or quicktime program, I lock-up. I sometimes get a bluescreen sometimes it just locks up. I always get a warning about my RAID array when this happens; either having to power down and re-detect the members of the array or the manager says bad disk/write to one of the members.
I must power down and power-up to regain function to my computer.
Intel says this is an apple problem and this doesn't shock me; because Itunes/Quicktime has some interesting disk stuff.
    Hello Jeffrey,
Thank you for contacting Intel(R) Technical Support.
We have seen this; however, the root cause of the issue is not our RAID controller or its driver. You need to contact the application developer for additional information and troubleshooting assistance.

    Hey Jeffrey,
I would just like to report that I am NOT experiencing the problem you describe. With my configuration (some details below) I can play video podcasts and listen to music in iTunes; I do not get a blue screen. My only issue is choppiness in the video playback (occasional frames dropped / occasional lack of synchronization between audio & video).
    - Intel D945GPM Desktop Board (945G chipset)
    - Pentium 4 D920 CPU (2.8 GHz dual core)
    - Intel Matrix Storage Manager (IMSM) 7.8.0.1012 (November 2007 version)
    -> RAID 10 Array over 4 x 250 GB Seagate SATA/300 drives
    - iTunes 7.5
    - ATI Radeon X1300 Video Adapter
In reviewing your post I am unclear as to what motherboard / chipset you have; you've just shown the model number of the I/O controller (I believe). However, based on that number I believe you're probably running on a motherboard/chipset that has been de-supported by Intel. Hence, you're precluded from using the most recent versions of IMSM. (I have an older machine that has the Intel 875P chipset; I'm stuck running IMSM 5.5.0.1035 on it...)
Newer versions of IMSM support newer features in the latest chipsets and abandon older chipsets; I'm kind of sore at Intel with how quickly the obsoleted my older machine (I think it's only 4 years old).
Anyway, if there is a conflict between iTunes & IMSM, you're probably stuck trying to get it fixed from the Intel side of things. It's probably a flaw in iTunes - complex software - not running in the native Apple environment.

  • While running Windows 7 with Bootcamp I got a blue screen talking about memmoy. What happens with that trouble?

I have installed win7 on mountain lion 10.8.5 and at the begining it seemed to work good but now in the last 2 times I have stayed using Win7 suddenly i got a blue screen I as I could read, it is about memory failure.
Does anybody can help me with that?
Or maybe someone had the same problem I have fixed it all, please share your tips or trick.
    Thank you all the community.

Did you download and install the Windows Support Software?

  • Does any have their MacBook Pro retina 2012 freezes up then desktop blue screen for 15-20 seconds?

I have been having issues for months now.  My MBP 15" is freezing up after I stop typing in any application.  I cannot do anything.  Then after 20-30 seconds my desktop goes to a blue screen then comes back after 20-30 seconds.  Just did it now when I stopped typing.  Went to the Genius Bar they reload the software but it's still happening. Currently on Mountain Lion.

If you like you can also restore, via Disk Utility, the DMG onto another disk, but you will be able to read the contents, simply mounting the volume inside any version of OS X.
^ What do you mean by this?
Also, It says on here:Mac OS X v10.5, v10.6: How to back up and restore your files - Apple Support
When the imaging process is complete, select the newly created disk image in the device pane.  Then, choose Images > Scan Image for Restore... from the menu bar, and let the scan complete.
Quit Disk Utility (press Command-Q). Then press Command-Q to quit the Mac OS X installer; you will be prompted to restart.
Restoring the backup disk image's contents to your internal Mac OS X disk
What does Images > Scan Image for Restore mean?
Also  If I erase hard drive and then reinstall mavericks OS X from "command + r mode" and after that hopefully I can get back in would I hook my external hard drive and then open the copy of the "macintosh".dmg and drag everything back on? or...?

  • Trouble with login -not just a blue screen-

    Ok, here's everything that happened.
I put my computer to sleep yesterday, everything had been working fine. When I woke it up, I got a kernal panic and had to restart. After restarting, it brought me to the Leopard 'blue screen'. I had already had this upon my initial installation and removed application enhancer -this was months ago-. So, I did my normal thing and booted into windows and tried restarting -this does work sometimes-, didn't work, still get the blue screen. So I booted into safe mode and backed up all my documents and whatnot, I restarted and it actually started successfully, though it was running really hot (173 degrees). So I shut it down for the night and went to bed. Today, I tried starting it again and got the blue screen, I can no longer boot into safe mode, nor can I boot from the Leopard DVD. Only the windows partition works. Any ideas?

How about trying the things listed here:
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=303319
Also, reset PRAM (immediately after pressing power button hold Apple-Option-P-R keys until you hear startup chime three times, then release keys).
Are you sure you completely got rid of all components of Application Enhancer?

  • Re: MBP Retina with CS6, does OpenType display at print-quality?

    Preface:
I'm a Graphic Design major. I have to work with a lot of text and with InDesign, obviously. On a non-Retina display, I can't trust my computer's screen to display text at print-quality. This means that I have to potentially print dozens of pages while working with text to be sure the kerning and adjustments I've made will print correctly.
    Question:
I'm considering purchasing MacBook Pro the Retina version, but I need to be sure it's a good investment. I know Retina is suppose to "rival" the printed page. But are Retina and CS6 compatible and designed well enough that I can trust my computer screen to display text at the exact same quality as I would see on the printed page?
    Background:
To give an idea of what I have to deal with on a normal computer screen: If I have InDesign open on a non-Retina display and I type out a line of text, if I then zoom the screen in and out and watch the text closely while doing this, it will appear as though the relative width of some lines and the distances between letters are changing. (You should easily be able to confirm this on your own computer.) For example, the stem of one letter might appear to become fatter than the stems of others at one moment, and then may appear skinnier than others at another moment.
Obviously this means I can't trust what I see on the computer screen when I'm working with text. And that's a serious issue for me.
I assume this occurs as a consequence of the conversion process between vector-to-pixel format for OpenType text combined with the low resolution of the computer screen I'm working on. Going to Retina display may help eliminate one of those issues, but if InDesign CS6 was not designed to take full advantage of the Retina display, then this problem may still persist on the higher resolution screen.

Thanks for that quick response Dendrek.
It is so hard to convince myself not to give in to the expensive temptation of the Retina MBP when I have all but completely convinced myself that I really need it! I probably will go for it anyway - since I am upgrading from my mid 2007 17" Macbook Pro which is currently at Apple Service, awaiting final verdict on whether I will need to pay for a new display, the decision seems to be a lot simpler for me. Will buy the rMBP and hope that the Adobe team catches up soon enough (and that an update to InDesign is part of their "make CS Retina optimized" plan for later this year). Like you said, it is just a matter of ID pixel-doubling everything.
On a side note - Until such an update arrives I was thinking of trying to use my (3rd generation) Retina iPad with Air Display as a second "preview display" for InDesign documents - using the document in "New Window" feature of InDesign, which allows you to have a duplicate view of the same document at its own zoom settings, with live changes. Am not sure if this configuration works as logic dictates it should (since the latest version of Air Display is apparently Retina optimized and should therefore show the document at full resolution), but will give it a shot as soon as I have access to a Mac again. Have you ever tried this setup to achieve the "print-quality" preview that you and I (and many others) want to see? Would need a Retina iPad of course.
    Thanks again for your input.
