Metadata in XML from Word

I need some help, I´m trying to create a PDF from word with custom metadata in xml. Anyone know how to do?
All standard data is in the PDF, but not the custom.

Hi,
Any of the data that you add to the Word doc via the Properties dialog will end up in the PDF file in both the XMP Metadata Stream and the Document Information Dictionary metadata.What is it exactly that you are trying to add?

  • How to copy paste a table structure from word document into Text Field [field format Rich Text]

    In our current implementation we have a Blank page with Text Field [field format Rich Text] on generated PDF Document.
    Once the PDF document is generated, user can copy paste content form any word/rtf document to into the Text Field.
    Pasted content retains all text formatting [Bold, Italic, Underline, Indentation] except the Table format. Text Field is removing table metadata from the content and converting it into plant text.
    Is there anyway to copy paste table structure as it is from word document into Text Field?

    Hi,
    I don't think you can! While you can paste formatted text into the rich text field, the table metadata means nothing to the textfield.

  • Broken PDF Bookmarks from Word doc with Headings

    This used to work with older versions of Acrobat Pro (I have the latest version of Acrobat 8 pro). I just author a Word doc which has headings, and then I use the Acrobat menu in Word to create the PDF, making sure "Create Bookmarks from Word Headings"is selected.
    The resulting PDF does indeed have the PDF Bookmarks there correctly, but they do not point to the locations of the headings in the actual document. In other words, they're not really bookmarking anything.
    Can someone confirm the workflow that is supposed to ensure the bookmarks will actually point to the heading locations? What else could be wrong?
    Thanks in advance! Attaching source word file (rename xml extension to docx) and resulting PDF file.
    SK

    Thanks Bill. I am using 8.1.4, and Word 2007. Don't really want to downgrade though (it's been around for several years now). One thing I've been wanting to try is re-installing to the latest PDFMaker COM Add-in (PDFMOfficeAddin.dll), but I don't know how to. The add-remove programs doesn't seem to allow me to re-install individual components.
    Just to confirm, the PDF bookmarks are meant to point to the Word heading locations, correct? I was wondering if you could try converting the Word file (just rename the .xml extension to .docx), and looking at the resulting PDF bookmarks. If they work as expected for you, then it's definitely something about my particular system configuration.
    The Word headings to PDF bookmarks feature is so basic, and Word 2007 has been around for several years now, if there was a problem with it I'm sure there would be a fix from Adobe by now.
    Thanks for any further insights!

  • Create XML from XSD

    Hi,
    Is it possible to create and populate XML from an XSD without knowing what the XSD elements are beforehand (all the examples appear to know what the input XSD will be, and therefore know what the set and get methods should be called)?
    Can a user browse for an xsd to input, and the java will dynamically create the get methods, and be able to create instances and populate variables before converting to XML?
    I have looked at JAXB and the purchase.order examples mainly, and it appears the input XSD was known before writing the java to populate the variables.
    Thanks

I think it is possible--you would have to recompile each time (unless you can dynamically recompile, which would be neat), but using the classes getMethod() function, you can list all the methods. You would then have to do some tricky logic to determine which of the getMethods you want (for example NOT getClass()), and you can basically call them in sequence. You also need to worry about handling lists & recursively call xxxType classes.
    I'm experimenting with this, and it can get a little frustrating because there are a lot of odd cases to handle (for example, while setting the elements of a list, you need to actually get the list & add elements to it), but I think it's possible.

    What I'm puzzled about is where you'd get the data to populate the variables? Perhaps a database, or a bean? If you just want to make a test xml file, then it doesn't matter, but with real data, I think you'd still have to change how you actually get the variables you want to populate the xml file with, right? In other words, if your schema changed, the parameters you're passing to the set methods would change as well.
    Maybe we'll see some more packages in the future to make this task easier.

  • Creating XML from JDBC resultset

    Can anyone give me a pointer as the best way to create XML from a JDBC resultset. I have told that XSU cannot be used as it is vendor specific and ties us to Oracle (yawn, yawn).

    // coonect to database
    //get resultset metadata rsmd

  • Saving XML from Flash XML.sendAndLoad

    I'm new to XML and haven't a clue how to integrate Flash xml
    and Coldfusion 7. There is a Flash app ( I didn't develop it) that
    is sending xml.sendAndLoad formatted data like this to a cf page
    setSummaryQuiz.cfm
    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>
    <result lessonID="19" userID="56">
    <word id="281" value="1" />

    <word id="283" value="5" />
    <word id="284" value="5" />
    <word id="285" value="3" />
    <word id="286" value="7" />
    <word id="287" value="3" />
    <word id="288" value="8" />
    <word id="289" value="7" />
    <word id="290" value="4" />

    <word id="293" value="5" />
    <word id="294" value="4" />
    <word id="295" value="1" />
    <word id="296" value="4" />
    <word id="297" value="8" />
    <word id="298" value="1" />
    <word id="299" value="7" />
    <word id="300" value="1" />
    </result>
    My page is supposed to return saved = true or false like
    this:
    <? xml version = " 1.0" encoding = "UTF-8"?>
    <result saved = "true"/>
    Can someone help me or point me to a tutorial or code snippet
    where I can see how CF reads and parses the XML data from
    Flash?

    In ASP setting the response type to "text/xml" you can do a
    response.write command to send back XML to Flash if you were
    performing an XMLSendAndLoad command ie. send XML from Flash,
    processed by ASP and receive an XML response from the ASP - good
    for Flash to know if something worked or an error resulted in
    processing the info.

  • Read equations from word document programatically

    hi
    its too difficult to problem i think but soluation is there.
    i want to read equations from word document using java. i was tried in xml prser also ,there i can 't find the equation format.
    any body tell me how to extract equation from word .

    Everyone that has posted that you have 2 problems is absolutly correct, you will have to use some 3rd party product to read the file, or make your own MS-Word decoder--a task for which MS itself has problems doing reliably between versions. You could set up some DDE or OLE via Java/C and Excel... have fun it that is your choosen path, you'll want to talk to them in the JNI forum on how to get started there.
    As far as parsing, you have to be able to identify the formula, is it an Excel formula? If so, then you have to be able to copy the formula, it does not show as text in cells. If it is not a formula, but just text in a cell, then copy it into a String in Java.
    Now you have the String, use String.split or other tokenizer to break the String appart, and then you have to process the tokens. Nobody here is going to write the front end of an interpreter for you to process your sting into appropriat logic and tokens.
    The task you embark on is not one of triviality, but can be done. The real question is: "Is it really worth it to you?" Only you can answer that. If you need refernce material for parsing--look up discussions of language, compiler, and interpreter development--most of the ones I've run across have excellent discussions on parsing and tokenizing.

  • "program error" when placing text from Word

    I'm using Photoshop Elements 13. I create a PDF of the text I want to place from Word. About 50% of the time, I get a "program error". I upgraded from version 11 because of this issue, and now it's happening with this version too. Doesn't seem to help to do it over again. I didn't have a problem doing this on another project, though.

  • Generating an xml from a pl/sql procedure

    Hi Friends,
    I have come up with a requirement to generate an xml from a pl/sql procedure.
    I did some R & D and also got some sample procedures but could not understand the datatypes being used.
    The procedure declares variables like this:
    doc                  xmldom.DOMDocument;
    mainNode         xmldom.DOMNode;
    headerElem      xmldom.DOMElement; Pls could anyone tell what do these xmldom.DOMDocument, xmldom.DOMNode and xmldom.DOMElement mean?
    Later in the procedure, these variables are assigned values like
    doc      := xmldom.newDOMDocument;
    mainNode := xmldom.makenode(doc); This went a bouncer on me.
    Pls help.
    Thanks in advance ...!

    I am changing from Word to Pages. I have created my custom template with all my styles etc and that is what comes up when I go for a New Document. Fine. How do I get it to use the same Custom Template when I use Pages to open a Word document?

    The template is a document in itself, it is not applied to an existing document whether it is a Pages document or a Word document converted to a Pages document.
    You would need to either copy and paste content, using existing styles, or apply the styles to the converted Word document.
    You can Import the Styles from an existing document and those imported Styles can be used to override the current document's styles:
    Menu > Format > Import Styles
    The process is simplified if the styles use the same names, otherwise you will need to delete the style you don't want and replace it with the one that you do want when asked, then the substitution is pretty straightforward.

  • Hyperlinks not converting when creating a pdf from Word 2010 to Adobe Acrobat 11.0.6

    First off, let me say that these are not table of contents hyperlinks.  I have created a document in Word 2010 (not a MAC) with hyperlinks to files residing on our company's intranet.  In Word the hyperlinks work great but when I create the pdf, the links do not work.  I have converted using both PDFMaker from Word and Create a pdf from within Acrobat.  Yes, I have all the boxes checked regarding saving links.  The links appear to work partially.  Meaning that when I hover the cursor over the link, the pointy finger appears but when I click I get a pop-up message telling me the file could not be opened.  Also, when I hover over the hyperlink, the address appears.  So, I think it knows there's a link and it tries to open but can't.  When I create the file within Adobe the link works - once.  When I click on the link I get a pop-up window asking me if I want to save my file before closing.  After my response the file closes and the linked file opens.  However, when I go back into the file and try the hyperlink again, I get the pop-up telling me the file cannot be opened.  HELP!  I am at my wits end.  After spending hours yesterday trying to research (I think I read every thread related to hyperlinks but I am not using a Mac, table of contents or Adobe 7 around which it seems all the prior questions revolve) and futily creating and recreating the pdf (as if doing the same thing repeatedly would somehow magically work) I am about to give up.  This is a document that will be published to our intranet for use by employees which cross-references other documents to which they can refer for additional information.  I would prefer to publish a pdf and not a Word document.  Any suggestions would be appreciated.

    Thanks for your input Bill. I've checked the preferences and "view large images" is turned on. It's not all of the images which are missing, only certain ones do not transfer over to PDF.

  • Problem importing PDF file from Word to Pages on IPad 2

    I am trying to import a PDF file from Word 2007 to Pages on my iPad 2 using the file sharing function in iTunes.
    I am able to import it, however when Pages saves it, I get the following message:
    "Pages doesn't support some od the original document.
    Objects in headers, footers, shapes, text boxes and table cells were removed.
    Merged table cells were unmerged.
    Objects were removed from table cells."
    The document is a PDF form which needs to be filled in. The document was downloaded from a website and saved as a Word document where I have been able to enter in information and print it.
    I would like to be able to fill in the form and print it from Pages as there are other documents that accompany this PDF file. (these are plain text Word documents which I have succesfully imported and can edit and print.)
    Is there any way for me to achieve this?
    Cheers,
    Jules

    I don't think Pages can do this - you'll need a dedicated iPad PDF program that can fill in and edit PDF files. And even then, reports are that different readers work or dont' work with different PDF's... I use Goodreader, which can do some PDF filling in, but you might want to check the app store for others.
