MIDI Device in Garageband Not Working? No Results!

So I've been REAALLLY wanting to buy an electric drumset, and record drums using that. The only way I could do so, is by getting one with a MIDI output and triggering the signals using my favorite kit on Toontrack's Superior Drummer.
Welp, guess who finally bought one!
Awesome, now I have problems....
So this drumset is plugged into my MacBook pro via USB cable. This IS a USB MIDI output. I'm in Garageband, and I turn on my e-set. Garageband welcomes it with a "1 MIDI Device input detected". Great! Then what? Nothing. No sound, no feedback, nothing. Garageband detects my device, but nothing else. It does not detect a single hit or stroke. The flashing blue LED on the bottom of GB (that usually goes on when a MIDI device is in use) is not flashing either. It plays nothing.
I tried going into my Mac's Audio MIDI Device Setup application, and it detects my instrument! But no results. No sound. Nothing. And it's ******* me the **** off. When I go into "Test My Device", nothing happens when I use the kit. What the **** is going on?
It's a Simmons SD5X Electric Set.
Need all the help I can get here folks.

This has already been discussed here numerous times. You should do a search on the forum and read the Logic for Garage Band Users pdf. When you open a midi file in Logic, the tracks are not assigned to virtual instruments like in GB, they're only midi tracks. If you want to hear sounds, you have assign them to an external sound module, to the QuickTime synth available in Logic or you have to create audio instruments tracks and move you midi data to those.

Garageband recognize USB MIDI device - Still will not play.

I am using the newest version of Garageband with Yamaha YPG 525 keyboard connected via USB as a MIDI controller. Drivers installed successfully. This is not my first Yamaha keyboard used with Garageband. This issue I'm having is that under System Preferences it shows the MIDI device connected but will not allow me to select as the "input" device. It shows up in the "Audio MIDI Setup" app, and I've selected the "Send All Notes On" under the Yamaha driver application listed in System preferences. It's getting very frustrating because clearly GB sees it's there but just refuses to make playing it an option. I have searched dozens of forums but cannot find someone having the same issue. Please help!

I recently bought one Lenovo Yoga 2 11 laptop running Windows 8.1 (64 bit).
When I try to connect my old Brother MFC-3240C printer using USB (2.0), it doesn’t work.
Below are the steps performed:
Connected the printer to USB 2.0 port on laptop (on the right side). Automatically installed the printer driver (no exclamation mark beside printer icon)
When the printer didn’t print, I tried to use troubleshoot as below:
Control Panel->Hardware and Sound->Devices and Printers->Right Click on Printer Icon->Troubleshoot.
It came up with USB composite device is an older usb device and might not work in USB 3.0
Removed the printer and re-installed the driver. It is all the same.
Any help will be greatly appreciated.
FYI – the same printer works fine with my older laptops running Windows 7.

Already checked Brothers website for the printer drivre for Windows 8.1 (64 bit).
It says ... The built-in driver is already included with Windows® Operating System or is available through Windows® update.
So, installed the default driver for the printer that is available with Windows 8.1.
Even connected the printer with USB 3.0 port on the laptop, but it is all the same.

Sounds like your phone was hacked to use with your carrier. Updating it has relocked the phone to it's original carrier. You will not get the phone working again without a SIM from the original carrier.

USB devices and Webcam not working or installing on Pavilion Laptop

I have a HP Pavilion Dm3 1030 sa,
For a while now certain USB devices have just not worked on the laptop, specifically printers and mice, despite me reinstalling the drivers for those devices on the laptop. I tried the devices on other computers and they worked fine.
This was annoying but I put up with it.
Now the webcam and microphone have stopped working and are no longer recognised by the computer. I have reinstalled the webcam software but cannot find the drivers for it. The software (arc soft webcam) says the inbuilt webcam is not connected.
I have been able to get my iphone to connect via usb and usb drives work most of the time. I don't really know what is going on. When I look at devices that don't work in device manager It says that there is a USB I/O error. I have tried reinstalling the drivers using device manager but that didn't work either. Any advice would be appreciated. Not being able to use a mouse is annoying as track pads are slow.

Rock Band 3 keyboard and GarageBand not working - help!

i'm having trouble using my Rock Band 3 keyboard as a MIDI input device to my Mac Pro (Lion) running GarageBand.
i'm using a generic midi-USB converter cable
i connected the keyboard & computer, plugging the midi IN plug of the cable into the midi OUT socket of the keyboard.
RESULT:
RB3 keyboard: all 4 red lights on the keyboard flashes
Midi-USB converter cable: red power LED = on, amber "IN" LED flashes about 3x per second
GB: program does 'detect Midi device'
BUT, pressing keys on keyboard has no effect, and there is no indicator on bottom blue display panel of GB when i press a key.
PS: if i REVERSE the connection, just in case teh cable was wired wrong (plug midi OUT cable into midi OUT socket), it still doesn't work, but 2 differences:
RB3 keyboard: a single red led comes on (opposed to all 4 red lights on the keyboard flashing)
Midi-USB converter cable: red power LED = on, IN and OUT LEDs stays off

Place the iOS device in Recovery Mode and then connect to your computer and restore via iTunes. The iPod will be erased.

Hello again samyak. You are very welcome!
The first device (the virtual adapter) is virtual network which allows you to use the computer as a "software router." Unless you're using this PC as an Access Point this device is useless to you. This article has more information on the service. Your best bet is to just disable it. Try the following.
Click Start, go to "All Programs," and select "Accessories."
Right click on "Command Prompt" and select "Run as Administrator."
Type the command "netsh wlan set hostednetwork [mode=disallow] and press Enter. This should disable the virtual adapter.
Exit Command Prompt, reboot the computer, and verify that the device is no longer listed.
The device with the "ACPI/HPQ0004" ID actually returned two results. The first was the Quick Launch Button software. The other was related to Hard Drive Protection. Try this driver.
Make sure to reboot after all of these instructions have been completed. Then go back to Device Manager and verify whether everything looks as it should.

HD for Apple Devices (10 Mbps) not working

I use Compressor 4 to convert a bunch of videos...
Unfortunately the preset "HD for Apple Devices (10 Mbps)" is not working - result = "Failed"
but the setting HD for "Apple Devices (5 Mbps)" >is< working.
I have a Mac Pro 2010, 12-core 2.66 GHz with 32 GB RAM with an ATI Radeon HD 5870 1024 MB.
There should be no performance problem... but what's wrong? Any ideas how to change this?

I've found the problem... it depends on the file name. The file name was
Chill & Ride 2011 - slomo long v4.mov
I've changed the name to "slomo.mov" and it worked!

Bootcamp "no bootable device" Option key not working

Ok recently rebuilt 2 older "Intel Core Duo" Mac Mini's with SSD drives. They work great and have been flying, however on one of them I wanted to setup BootCamp so that I could run Win7 Pro on it as well.
So here is what I did...
- When I first built the Mini's I used a bootable Firewire drive with Snow Leopard installed
- I had the drive divided into 2 partitions at first
- when I tried to install BootCamp error message kept telling me it needed only one part, so I finally made Primary OSX part one big part, then I was able to get BootCamp going
- I choose "I have Mac OSX Install disc" because "Download the Windows support software" would not work
- Next it created the BOOTCAMP part and told me to put Win OS disk in drive
- I put in an OEM Win 7 CD I borrowed from work, so I could see how it worked.
- When it rebooted, it Did not recognize CD and all screen said was choose Option 1 or 2, (neither option had any text, and the keyboard would not take any input)
- Tried numerous times to get back to OSX, used every boot option I could find online but none would work.. Also Mini would not give back CD for nothing
- Next I opened up Mini to get to CD, I had a friend that was able to get one out by opening up the actual dvd drive but I was trying to avoid that. So what I ended up doing was using a putty knife to keep CD from spinning on bootup. After about 10 to 15 seconds of the CD not spinning, it finally kicked it out for me. (YAY!!)
- New problem, now I have the "No Bootable Device - - Insert Boot Disk And Press Any Key"
- I have tried the following. Removing the drive and plugging in a Sata to USB cable so I can access it from other Mini
- I thought that if I deleted the BOOTCAMP part it would allow me to boot back to OSX, I tried renaming Part to what it was before, I have tried putting in a Formatted drive with no OS on it, I have tried installing the contents of a Win 7 OEM CD onto Formatted drive as a single FAT part.
Nothing Works, I am either stuck at the "No Bootable Device" screen, or if I turn on Firewire drive with Snow Leopard I get a blinking cursor that never shows any text.
At this point, I don't want BootCamp on that Mini anymore, I just want my working OSX, but I cant get anything to work and I'm afraid to stick a CD in the Mini for fear it wont give it back to me and I end up damaging it getting it out. I even created a CD with rEFIt on it, but after I formatted a totally different drive and the Mini is still expecting to finish what it start with BootCamp, it leads me to believe that there is some BIOS or data stored somewhere that is not on the harddrive. If so, could I pull the RAM, or push some sort of master Reset button some where?
I'm also thinking that I need a non mac USB keyboard, perhaps maybe there or know Aluminum Keyboard drives in the memory where the Mini is trying to finish the BootCamp install.
As a side note, I sure wish Apple would have designed the Mini to fail Safe not fail broken.

So what your saying is, do the same thing but hang SSD from broken Mini onto working Mini and boot up with same Firewire drive, and have it install OS back onto Broken SSD drive.
Assuming all of this works correctly, why would plugging it back into broken Mini work? Wont the Broken Mini still be looking for BootCamp to finish what it started? (just seems that way from what I've experienced so far)

Scroll is not working when results seen trhu SP01.

I have observed an issue , in one of mine report, when I see list using SP01 spool list , Scroll is not working.
I have used SET LEFT SCROLL-BOUNDARY . It is working if i run this report in Foreground.. but my need is to schedule that report, and see the results thru SP01. using SP01 Freezing is not working.
Any one have any idea about this, please do help me out.

Macbook air stuck in No bootable device, external keyboard not working.

Yesterday tried to install Windows 7 via Bootcamp. As everyone else got to "No bootable device - insert boot disk and press any key."
After few seconds I realized that keyboard is not working. Googled it and found out that I need to buy an external keyboard.So I did.
Guess what,external keyboard is not working too. Tryed with different PC, it worked with them.
So what now?

Step 2: Select synchronous process
Step 3: Take the default schema for input and output
Step 4: create a schema to hold multiple simple type string values.
Step 5: Import that xsd file in the project wsdl file.
Step6: Create a another variable (var1) referring the above element type (result)
Step7: Drop an assign activity from component palette to the process between Receive and Replay activity
Step 8: In the from section use the function oraext:query-database("select ename from emp",true(),true(),'jdbc/EBS_database').in the to section select the var1 variable.
Step9: Drop another assign activity from component palette to the process before Replay activity and after the first assign activity
Step 10: In from section select the first ename using xpath from var variable and assign to the output variable.
Error: The value is not coming to the output from source(var) variable using xpath or transformation.

See the audit trail on EM and verify why it is not working.

Logic midi exporting problems (does not work with cubase)

ok so there is an audio file i need converter to midi for something i'm working on someone with who uses cubase...
so basically an audio file from cubase needs audio to midi. since cubase does not have this feature i imported the .aif file from the cubase project and used audio to score to extract midi. i then exported the midi file and imported it back into the cubase project and it was not aligning with the audio file.
note that the cubase project has variable tempos but i imported the file into default tempo and extracted the midi in the default tempo mode. but this shouldn't be a factor since midi conforms to current tempo so when it gets reimported back into cubase it should sync with the project tempo there....
can anyone help???

You have a couple of choices:
Within the EVB, change the Keyboard Mode to single. You may need to do this a couple of times to get it to work. You would also need to do this for every EVB preset that you use
You could setup the organ Instrument Channel Strips as "Multi-Timbral" with the incoming MIDI mapped to Channel 1. You would need to do this for every Organ Strip that you want to use in your MS Concert.

Filters are not working on resulting image smaller than 8191x2048

I have created AIR application using SDK 3.5 over the Flash Builder 4, and I am targeting AIR player 1.5.3. I have large text where user can apply outline. And to apply outline I am using Glow Filter, but somehow it is not working for texts which are too large but smaller than required size which is 8191x2048.
I am wondering why it is not working even if it is mentioned in Adobe Official site.

If I remove the glow filter then it works.
Can any one suggest/advice, how the filter limit is not extended even if I am using proper SDK and AIR player.

I have set -target-player=10.0.0 in the command line argument in the Flex compiler setting but still we are facing same issue for the not generating full text more than 4000px if we have applied Glow filters on the Text but if we removed the Glow filters from the text. Full text is displayed.
Our text dimention is : 1850x7200(with glow filters), This is below the 16,777,215 limits of Bitmap text. But still we can't generate the Full text.
