Migration of balances

Hi fellow forum members,
The scenario:
Both SAP and legacy systems in force in 2008, and the year end is 31.12.2008.
In 2009, SAP continued to be in use while the legacy system was dropped.
As for the balances at 31.12.2008, the following is desired:
Debtors, Creditors and Bank balances:      Maintain balances reflected in SAP system
Certain GL accounts                                     -
do----
Other GL accounts                                      Replace SAP balances with balances per legacy system
Inventory accounts                                      -
do----
Fixed assets                                                -
do----
-do-                                                           Replace asset master with template with fresh asset master data
Kindly guide me on the procedures to be followed and the relevant T-codes to achieve the above.
K.Valliappan

Are you asking for carry forward of balances in SAP.
There are separate closing procedures for Assets, Customers & Vendors and General Ledger.
Assets:
AJAB - Close Fiscal Year
AJRW - New Fiscal Year
Vendor & Customer:
Carry Forward - F.07
General Ledger:
FAGLGVTR - Balance Carryforward

  • Migration of balances for new ledger using the New GL

    Hi everyone,
I have a specific scenario into this customer where we have implemented the SAP version ECC6.0 with the table FAGLFLEXT is active and using just one ledger (0L - standard). We need to create a new ledger for IFRS (e.g: 1L), as the customer didn´t use the splitting document functionality, it was not purchased the migration services.
Now I need to upload the balances in the accounts into new ledger, I understand that for general accounts there is no problem because I can use the transaction FB01L and specifying the new ledger (1L).
My doubt is : How can I to do the upload balances for open items into the AP and AR accounts?
    Anybody can help me?
    Thanks
    Ricardo Gomes

You are right.  I just realized that and came back to update my response.  Please see the following note.
    https://service.sap.com/sap/support/notes/1070629
I see a standard program delivered for that purpose in the note above.
    FAGL_MIG_SUBSEQ_POST
Again, please go through the note.  There is a lot of information on data transfer (and other FAQs) for new non-leading ledgers.

  • Data Migration Opening Balances are not updating in the Report F.08

    Hi,
We have uploaded the GL balances in 2008 for the year 2007. But they are not updating in the F.08 report when i executed for 2008.
Why they are not updating in the report. In which table can i check the Data migration values in the system?

Hi We have uploaded all the values in 2008 with 2008 date. fiscal year is K4.
F.08 Report for the year 2008 is showing only 2008 accumulated values. But not showing the Opening balances which we have uploaded in 2008 for the before years like 2007.
Why it is showing like that?

  • Migration - Opening Balances

    Hi
The existing company is split and a new company is formed with some additional departments. Requirement is to create new set of books and the balance needs to be moved from the existing company. Eg. some of the bank accounts will be transferred to new company and some supplier and customer balances needs to be transferred
I would like to know how the data migration can be done for GL.Whether suspense account needs to be used to transfer bank balances
Some light on the above would be great.

  • Migrating open POs and GR/IR clearing account balance

    Hello gurus,
I've got the following problem concerning migration of open POs:
For example: In my source system there is a PO for 10 pcs. of some material. There has been a goods receipt for 5 pcs. (200$ each).
Now, when I import this order and the corresponding purchase order history into my target system (using LSMW), the target system creates the order, a material document for 5 pcs. and an account document.
But of course, our FI-team also has to migrate the balance of the 'old' GR/IR clearing account.
So, the balance in the source system is <> 0 (e.g. 1000$), because the 5 pcs. have been delivered but there has been no invoice receipt yet.
This balance is imported into the new system and then the open orders are migrated, generating an account document and thus, the balance is 2000$ afterwards.
This obviously is not correct, so I am sure that I am missing something, just what?
    Thanks
    Alicia

    Hi,
    1. There will be an open PO uploaded for 5 qty and price 200$ each
    2. Opening Balance of Material - 5 qty and corresponding value to Stock A/c - 1000$
    3. Also there will be Vendor Balances uploaded in the system as 1000$ against the invoice. (If the invoice is still expected then chec with FI Users if they can get invoice form vendor)
if no then do not upload initial stock entry of step2, create a PO of 10 qty and then do GR in system (SAP).

  • Migration of Open GR/IR Balance

    Hi,
We are implementing SAP & we have to migrate open GR/IR balance from legacy system to SAP.
In legacy system there is no GR/IR account however there is a liability account against which Inventory is booked.
Let's say we have migrated the balance through GL Balance. If we receive invoice from the vendor for the same value then there is no problem however if the invoice value differs from the liability created then how to handle the same?
    Regards,
    D

    Hi D,
The usual way is, to reconcile the old GR/IR balance in the old way as much as possible. It means, that the balance is posted to a separate account (not the GR/IR from MM) by open items, which will be understandable for the users (usually through a meaningful Assignment).
Incoming vendor invoices for these cases may be booked as FI invoices against this account with the same "label" (Assignment etc.) and it is reconciled the same way as any other open-item account (e.g., subtotal items by assignment, automatically clear matching ones and investigate others). Or, perhaps a better way is, to keep running the legacy application for invoice verification for all the old cases (where goods receipt occurred in legacy). Posted invoices should be interfaced to SAP, to the open item account mentioned above. This should be done if the migrated volume is high and you want to keep the invoice verification automated even for the old cases.
So, in general, the usual approach is to open a separate open item account, make an initial migration of the balance (split by meaningful open items) and then make sure that incoming invoices are labeled in the same way, whether manually or automatically. Users should keep an eye on it and follow up on the items (clearing or investigating). After a few months, there should hopefully be nothing left (although reality is often different) and the account should be blocked against posting. But having open items (by purchase etc., similar to SAP purchase orders and items) is the key to reconciling it.
I have not yet seen re-creating old purchase orders with goods receipts in SAP, although this is also an option (you just need to offset the migrated goods receipts against a negative movement for initial stock upload to keep everything in balance, but it should work as well - perhaps even better than the above. But it is more complicated for data migration and therefore not as common.)
Hope it helps - good luck!

  • Migration of account balances

    Hi,
I need to migrate account balances (client) in a same system.
New accounts will be created, and i need to transfer/migrate the balances of a determine type of client, into a new general account that will congregate the balances of all the clients in that segment.
How can i do that? by creating a reconciliation account to make the passage of the balances of all client accounts into this one account?
    Kind regards
    NG

Wy you don4t implement Special Purpose Ledger for this.
    Special Purpose Ledger
This section contains the settings for the Special Purpose Ledger (FI-SL).
Before making these settings in the system, you should be familiar with the business functions used here as well as the concept of the Special Purpose Ledger. You can find additional information in the SAP Library under Financials -> Financial Accounting -> Special Purpose Ledger.
    Note
You can implement FI-SL in a system with multiple clients. You can find additional information under Operating in a multi-client system.

  • Post Processing a bank line item - opening balance

    Hi Experts,
I need some help with post processing of a bank statement item.
It is a greenfield implementation where no legacy transactional data or opening balances are migrated. Therefore I've posted a bank statement with incoming domestic bank transfer. This line item now requires post processing as it does not relate to any preceding transaction / document.
The journal entry looks like this...
    161012 - AUD Bank No.1 Domestic bank transfers = Credit 5,000,000
    161010 - AUD Bank Account No 1 = Debit 5,000,000
I guess "post processing" is required to clear the account 161012 and credit account 161010.
What is the best way to do that?
    Thanks
    Puru

    Hi Puru,
Go to Liquidity Management > view bank statements > Filter with your new bank
You will observe that a bank statement with ID # 0 got created and the closing balance is same amount what you have migrated.
Now you select new bank statement the ID will be 1 and the last bank statement 0 closing balance will become the opening bank balance in bank statement # 1.
Migration of balances for bank accounts enables you to migrate the current balances of your bank accounts. During migration system automatically creates an offsetting entry so that the document balance results in zero ( this entry is only for migration posting only )
Your expectation of again posting manual journal is not incorrect and is not required here.
Your migration of bank opening balance amount is successful and you can use this bank account for your postings going forward.
Kindly mark this thread as answered if i answered your queries.
    Thanks

  • Entering opening balance for a new company

    Hi all
I am using AP, GL and CM. After successful testing on test environment the customer now is forwarding in live environment.
He has prepared open balance for all accounts and i should migrate these balances in the system.
This balance sheet prepared from the customer is balanced so debits equals to credits.
The currency of this company is ALL, and in this document there are few accounts that are in EUR and USD, but in total the converted amounts of these accounts(accounts that has balance in foreign currency) together with other accounts in ALL are balanced.
Now i have to enter in the GL module three different journals, one in ALL, one in EUR and the last one in USD, with the exchange rates given by the customer.
The question is here. These three journals are not balanced, and i wanted a suggestion which is the best way to enter the open balance for this customer.
    Thank you and best regards

    Hi Octavio
So the document sent from the customer is like this:
    Acc. No------------Debit ALL-----Credit ALL----------Debit EUR-------Credit EUR----------------Debit USD----------Credit USD
    Acc. 1--------------100
    Acc. 2--------------150-------------------------------------100
    Acc. 3--------------150-------------------------------------100
    Acc. 4--------------200-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------200
    Acc. 5--------------200-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------200
    Acc. 6---------------------------------800
Now accounts in foreign currency should have their balances in foreign currency and the converted amount is giving the balance in local currency.
so i have to register three journals or am i wrong?? As you can see the journals in each currency are not balanced.
    Thanks again

  • Forgot to create Goodwill asset during asset migration

    Hi
In the migration process ,w eforgot to create a goodwill as an asset in asset accounting, but we migrated the balances into the respective GL accounts
now we need to create this asset because for local balances we have to post the depreciation
    please kinldy advice
    thanks
    jvn

    1. Upload it by using AS91
    2. Rest your Asset Reconciliation Accounts to Non-Reconciliation Accounts OAMK
    3. Post Journal Vourches in FI thorugh F-02 (Make sure that balances in Step1 and Step3 are matching by asset class wise)
    4. Again reset back the asset reconciliation accounts (Refer Step 2)

    Hi
Your strategy is correct, but please note for balancesheet account like customer/vendor only transfer the open items i.e. which are still not knocked off, so you will control the number of lines to be migrated.
Balance can be uploaded on summerization basis or line item basis . Ideally for GL accounts you can post monthly summerized balances and for subledgers open line item wise,
However you can use LSMW with the help of ABAPER by extracting data direct from tables.
    cheers

  • Mygrating Asset GL Balances from Legacy to SAP

    Hello Gurus,
We are Migrating GL balances from legacy system to SAP system.
I would like to know whether there is any other transaction code other than OASV for fixed assets GL migration from Legacy to SAP system. Can we use F-02 transaction code for uploading Asset Balances from Legacy to SAP.
Kindly advice as we have already started Migration process.
    Thanks and regards,
    Vinayak

I have only used transaction code OASV to migrate asset balances.
Is there a particular reason you don't want to use OASV and use F-02 instead?
    Thanks,
    Tammy

  • Migration of PO, GR, IR

    Hello friends,
If we are going live, mid of the year, and we need to handle the migration of PO, what should be the strategy for differenet scenarios:
    1) PO Created
    2) PO Created with IR done and GR not done
    3) PO Created with GR done and IR not done
    4) PO Created with GR done partially and IR not done
We will be migrating trial balance as of GO LIVE
    Thanks
    Kishore

    1) PO Created > this is will be you'll create new open PO.
    2) PO Created with IR done and GR not done > create the PO then perform MIRO.
    3) PO Created with GR done and IR not done > you need to have GR/IR migration account to post the open line items. When invoice is received, you will post the invoice against the GRIR migration account.
    4) PO Created with GR done partially and IR not done > create an open PO for the remaining items not GRd. For those with GR, post to GRIR migration account as open line items. when invoice is received post the invoice against the GRIR migration account.

  • CSS to CSM migration and http health checking

    Hi All,
I hope someone can help me here.
We are migrating number of web services to new DC and I have some issue migrating load balancing from CSS 11501 to CSM module in 6509 within new environment.
    Here is config from CSS:
    content WS1
    vip address 192.168.1.125
    add service 192.168.1.105-80-web1
    add service 192.168.1.115-80-web2
    port 80
    protocol tcp
    balance leastconn
    active
    service 192.168.1.105-80-web1
    ip address 192.168.1.105
    keepalive port 80
    keepalive uri "/URIDirect_Default.aspx"
    keepalive method get
    keepalive type http
    keepalive hash "44baffe2618ba829a6b14ad9bccfdcf4"
    active
    service 192.168.1.115-80-web2
    ip address 192.168.1.115
    keepalive port 80
    keepalive uri "/URIDirect_Default.aspx"
    keepalive method get
    keepalive type http
    keepalive hash "f41469e68c42273622774ec706e3ddcf"
    active
With this config CSS uses URI health check to determine whether or not the app live on the nodes of the farm (CSS checks for certain file's existing in app's home folder by checking the hash value of the file name - I beleive so). This is also handy for windows team which remove/rename checked file on server when want to remove it from web farm.
However, reading manuals for CSM I can not see http health probe checking for hash, but only for return status.
Can someone help me with how can I replicate above configuration using CSM.
    Regards,
    Sasa

    Sasa,
the hash corresponds to a hash of all the text contained in the html page.
This is to guarantee that the page was not modified.
This is some kind of security in case a hacker would alter your pages.
The CSM does not have this feature.
But honestly, you usually get more troubles with this option than benefits.
If the Apps team wants to have the server down while changing files, they can I guess turn off the server themselves before doing changes. And then re-enable after.
    Gilles.
