MINI IPOD FROZEN!

please please help, my mini ipod has frozen in between skipping songs..now it wont switch off or do anything! what can i do?
thanks

I believe that if you hold the menu and the select buttons down at the same time for about three seconds the mini will reset itself. It is in the directions that came with the mini. I had to look it up once when my mini froze up.

PLEASE HELP. my ipod mini got frozen suddenly. none of its 'click wheel' buttons are working. the hold button is okay as i can see the lock on the LCD when i set it to hold. i've tried to
reset the ipod mini at most 10 times and
    (ii) restored it twice.
(iii)i've even tried to reset it while it is on power on my PC.
I can switch on the ipod only by switching the hold to on and then to off.
    Please suggest something? Thanks.

Thank you very much for your response.
As suggested, I let my iPod battery run out and then plugged it back into my PC to charge. After about 1 hr., it was back to normal...I'm hoping!
BTW - is this a common occurance? The reason I ask is that I'm wondering if it happened naturally or if it is because earlier in the day my daughter dropped it. It worked fine after it was dropped, but 45 mins. later it locked up.
I have an opportunity to exchange it (iPod Mini, if damaged) for the Nano or regular iPod (since the mini's no longer exist), but if this is purely coincidental, then I would rather keep it.
Anyone have any suggestions or comments?

  • Ipod Mini appears frozen

My mini appears frozen. It had a low battery and when i was listening to a song it turned off. It will usually turn back on if this happens, but the apple wouldnt even pop up. When i hooked it up it wouldnt come on either. I also tried resetting with no success. My guess is the battery is gone, but ive only had it for about 11 months. Im not an expert or anything but from what ive been reading the battery should last a lot longer than 11 months, shouldnt it?
Does anyone have any tips for me before I send it in for a new battery? Well, Thanks Guys!

  • Ipod frozen on lock mode

My ipod is frozen on lock mode and i have a big flight in a few hours what do i do??  My computer won't even reconize when my ipod is plugged in and neither does my ipod.

Important: If your iPod is frozen or won't turn on, it may be because iPod is paused or the Hold switch is in the locked position. If so, a lock symbol appears on the screen. Slide the Hold switch to the unlocked position and check the screen.
If your iPod is frozen or won't turn on, the steps to reset it vary by model. You can easily tell which iPod model you have if you're not sure.

Toggle the Hold switch on and off. (Slide it to Hold, then turn it off again.)
Press and hold the Menu and Center (Select) buttons simultaneously until the Apple logo appears, about 6 to 8 seconds. You may need to repeat this step.
Tip: If you are having difficulty resetting your iPod, set it on a flat surface. Make sure the finger pressing the Select button is not touching any part of the click wheel. Also make sure that you are pressing the Menu button toward the outside of the click wheel, and not near the center.
If the above steps did not work, try connecting iPod to a power adapter and plug the power adapter into an electrical outlet, or connect iPod to your computer. Make sure the computer is turned on and isn't set to go to sleep.
To reset iPod, iPod (scroll wheel), iPod (touch wheel), and iPod (dock connector)
Toggle the Hold switch on and off. (Slide it to Hold, then turn it off again.)
Press and hold the Play/Pause and Menu buttons simultaneously until the Apple/iPod logo appears, about 6 to 8 seconds. You may need to repeat this step.
If the above steps did not work, try connecting iPod to a power adapter and plug the power adapter into an electrical outlet, or connect iPod to your computer. Make sure the computer is turned on and isn't set to go to sleep.
If you are still unable to reset your iPod, use only one finger from one hand to press the Center (Select) button, and one finger from the other hand to press the Menu button.
When you reset iPod all your music and files are saved, but some customized settings may be lost. Date and time are preserved (unless the iPod reset itself because it had no power and then was reconnected to power). Other customized settings, such as Bookmarks, On-The-Go Playlists, Shuffle, Backlight timer, and so forth are preserved from the last time the hard drive turned on.
    To reset iPod shuffle:
Disconnect iPod shuffle from the computer (if connected).
Move the switch on the iPod shuffle to the OFF position.
Tip: When iPod shuffle is off, the green stripe by the switch is not visible.
    Wait 5 seconds.
Move the switch to the play in order or the shuffle position. The green stripe will be visible in either position. For iPod shuffle (2nd generation), slide the power switch on (and you can see the green stripe).

  • Ipod frozen and screaming

I pushed play on the ipod to listen to a song after it had been off for a few hours and as soon as it came on, it froze and it started making a high pitch screeching noise. It sounds like the screech is coming from the internal speaker and not the hard drive. when this was posted it had been doing it for 2hrs.
I tried to restart it, tried connecting it to my laptop, and tried plugging it in to charge on the wall. Nothing affected it at all.

Mine is too. Did you find the a solution? Does anyone have a phone number to contact apple??
Mine is frozen and the screen is displaying "do not disconnect". I cant even get the itunes to recognize the ipod.

  • Transfering music from mini ipod to a nano

i just bought the nano and would like to transfer my music form my mini ipod to the nano. i can only transfer 1/2 of my music. i'm also using a new computer to do this. why can't i get all my music?

Are you transferring these tracks back from your Mini
to iTunes and are the ones that transfer purchased
tracks? The transfer of non purchased content such
as songs imported from CD is designed by default to
be one way from iTunes to iPod. However there are a
number of third party utilities that you can use to
retrieve the music files and playlists from your
iPod. You'll find that they have varying degrees of
functionality and some will transfer movies, videos,
photos, podcasts and games as well. Have a look at
the web pages and documentation, this is just a small
selection of what's available, they are generally
quite straightforward. You can also read reviews of
some of them here: Wired News - Rescue Your Stranded

There is also a manual method of accessing the iPod's
hard drive and copying songs back to iTunes on
Windows or a Mac. The procedure is a bit involved and
won't recover playlists but if you're interested it's
available at this link: Two-way Street: Moving Music Off
    the iPod
My songs are currently on my mini and in itunes, but when i try to transfer them to my new nano, it will not work. The only songs it will transfer are the songs that I copied from cd's. I also have a new computer that I am using, does this have anything to do with it? If I use my old computer would it work. From you response, it sounds like there is a solution w/ the link that you provided. Correct? Thank you for your feedback.

My ipad mini is frozen in an app and the home button is stuck.  Pressing the wake/sleep button does not bring up the red slider to turn the ipad off. Is there any other way I can reset the ipad?  Can I remove the battery? and then put it back in?

No the battery is non removable.
Try a Reset  ( No Data will be Lost )
Press and Hold the Sleep/Wake Button and the Home Button at the Same Time...
Wait for the Apple logo to Appear...
Usually takes about 15 - 20 Seconds... ( But can take Longer...)
    Release the Buttons...

My mini ipod appears off and not respond to any commands when pressed the buttons to reset, apple logo appeared and then the apple support site and it shuts down. already tried all the steps, but none worked, and when I plug it into my computer it does not appear in the iTunes bar. what do I do?

If MacKeeper corrupted the Recovery partition then even I underestimated its potential for damage. Garbage "cleaning" apps will cause misery but I have not found that the Recovery partition to have been affected by using MacKeeper or anything like it. I doubt that it did so, but I have learned not to underestimate the potential for such things to result in system corruption.
Before concluding your Mac has a hardware failure, try booting OS X Internet Recovery by holding command option r on startup (three fingers). That will force your iMac to bypass the Recovery partition altogether, and convey the ability to create a new one.
An Internet connection will be required (wired or wireless).
At the Mac OS X Utilities screen, select Disk Utility. Select your startup volume (usually named "Macintosh HD") and click the Repair Disk button. Describe any errors it reports in red. If Disk Utility reports "The volume Macintosh HD appears to be OK" in green then you can be reasonably (though not completely) assured your hard disk is in good working order.
Assuming the HD remains usable you can then use Disk Utility to erase it. Reinstall OS X, restore your essential software and other files, and don't reinstall the junk.

  • Music not appearing on mini ipod

I bought my mini ipod 2 weeks ago. I loaded one set of music on it fine, but now i've updated my itunes library and am trying to transfer the rest of the music to my mini ipod. When I connect my ipod to the computer(it's set on automatic, but I've tried manual too to no effect) it says its updating music (takes about 45 mins) The updated music is appearing under the ipod in itunes, but it doesn't appear on the actual ipod. I've tried resetting the ipod, restarting my computer, using different USB2 ports etc but nothing works. Can anyone please help?

    Try this;
Go to SETTINGS > MAIN MENU > MUSIC and set it to ON. Then, hit the MENU button several times to get back to the main menu & see if it's there.
You can control what appears in the main menu in this settings menu. Apparently, your ;music' option has been turned off.
    Cheers!

Please help! My mini ipod won't charge or turn on. It's 18 months old now. It is not on hold, I have tried to reset it, charge it and plug it into my computer, all to na avail. When i plug it into the mains to charge, the apple sign comes up briefly, but then the folder sign comes up. I plugged it into my brothers computer, which has his itunes software on, and it said 'do not disconnect' for a period of time, then got stuck on a tick with 'ok to disconnect' on the screen. Again no luck. I would be really grateful for any help you can give me! I am training to do race for life in a couple of weeks and miss my ipod!!

Your silver bullet of resolving your iPod issue – is to restore your iPod to factory settings.

  • Problems - Original Mini Ipod

I went into the Apple Store In Bloomington MN to have it looked at. About 2 months ago I started having problems with the Mini Ipod. It was playing songs out of tune / scratchy. Almost like you are tuning into a radio station and do not get clear reception.
The Genius at the Apple Store indicated that there was a problem with some pressure points on the front of the Mini outside the control wheel. That she recently received notification that this was a problem recognized by Apple with the original Mini Ipods, but that I was out of warranty so it would not be covered. Has anyone else experienced this problem? Should I resign myself to having to replace it? This really BITES since other then this problem it has worked well.

    Hmm..
You are out of warranty so whatever you decide to do, you are going to have to spend some $$.
I've never heard of such problem before.
