Modded K8n Np Bios

In what way were the BIOS modded? I'm referring to the BIOS found here:
http://members.lycos.co.uk/syar2003/S754_neo_plat_bios/
Also, is there any benefit to using the beta BIOS (1.5x)? I'm currently using 1.4 official, downloaded and flashed via LiveUpdate.

  • Screen freezes, even in safe mode and in BIOS

    I’m working on a friend’s laptop: Toshiba, Satellite M65 - S9092
Original problem: The laptop started shutting down after few minutes of use. (Probable overheating)
Took the laptop apart and clean it out. The heatsink, fan and outlets were really plugged up. Put it back together and did a clean re-install, Windows XP. Had few issues with USB drivers not being recognized but worked it out. Ran stress test for a whole day, no problem.
Worked for few days and then USB wasn’t being recognized again and the screen started freezing up. Re-installed os again but it is still freezing up after few minutes, and stays that way till hard shut down.
Screen freezes even in safe mode and in BIOS. (No blue screens)
Switched existing RAM’s around (2 - 512MB), one stick, two sticks, etc…still freezing up. Wanted to upgrade the BIOS but can’t get pass the screen freezing. Not sure if the motherboard may be shot from previous overheating or need new RAM. Don’t want to spend money till I’m sure I’m replacing the right part.
    Any assistance is appreciated.

Hi there... I have a satellite A70 - S256 an it was freezing up the same way. I downloaded an OS named UBUNTU fron the internet free of charge. once you download it an burn it to cd you can then boot from it after a couple of tries ( due to freezing). When it boots select your language immediately and choose the option to run memory tests (both installed and BIOS) and let it do its thing for as long as it takes. you should boot from UBUNTU on another working pc to get familiar with it if you are not allready so that you make your selection quickly before it freezes.  You may have to reboot a few times depending on freezing while the memory test is in progress and how much progress is made. This procedure fixed mines and I never had those problems again.

  • Switchable Graphics Mode in the BIOS is not listed(seen)

    Hi everyone!
    I've read that:
NOTE: If you do not see Switchable Graphics Mode in the BIOS or it cannot be selected, see the following section Updating the BIOS to enable Fixed Mode .
However,  I didn't see that switachable craphics mode is seen in my BIOS:
    Product Name: HP Pavilion dv6-6093ex
    Product Number : LM610EA#A2N
    Version of BIOS is: F.05.
    Vendor of BIOS is: Insyde
Also, I would say that my BOIS is not a UEFI BIOS because I cannot navigate the menus with a mouse but only just with the keyboard.
However, I really was told that I shouldn't update the BIOS unless I am having a problem with it.
Thus, I am afraid that if I had updated it, I would be encountring some problems not loading my machine well. However, I really want to know how to switch to external or internal adapter, thus I read here:

    [Athlon64] K8N Neo4 Bios ver 1.50 eats batteries

    Hi, Takesix.
Unfortunately, you are not the only person with this problem.  I purchased a non-SLI version of this board about 6 weeks ago and am on my third battery, all from different manufacturers.  The board was originally flashed with V1.50 but I flashed it to v1.30 because I had read that it was a better version.  This has not stopped the draining battery problem.  Have e-mailed MSI and Monarch Computer tech support hoping to get an answer but haven't received any replys yet.  To read others strories go to the following link.     https://forum-en.msi.com/index.php?topic=84120.0  Incidentally, how old is your board?  Wonder if it was a specific lot?

  • K8n neo bios 1.4 temps and cool n quiet

    Hi,
I recently flashed to bios 1.4 and it has been fine thus far.  However I have two issues that may be related to this new bios.
Windows XP utilties (mbm, sandra, speedfan, even corecell) all report my temps to be in the mid 30 degrees C, however the bios reports them as 45 degrees, which should I trust?
Also I think I've gotten half of cool n quiet working, vcore is down when cpu is not doing intensive work and so is the multiplier, making it run approx 1 GHz give or take.  However, I believe that my AMD stock fan always spins around the same speed (approx 3200 rpm), regardless whether the cpu is doing intensive work or idles, is something wrong?  I have the cool, wheres the quiet where my fan is supposed to slow down?
    Any help is appreciated!

well the temperature in bios is very likely to to be above of that in windows, because cool n quiet doesnt work in bios and processor runs at normal frequencies there. The fan speed problem can be either of two things i know, first is that you haven't enabled smart cpu fan in bios and other is if you go to standby and then resume, it seems that cool n quiet works after it but mobo doesn't control the fan speed after standby. These are just some things i have noticed. The bios 1.4 is very good btw (atleast for normal use, i dont't overclock so no idea about that).

Im gonna have to try 1.36 soon as possible.

  • K8N Neo4 BIOS 1.8 hates my harddrive

Okay, hi everone. I've seen a couple of threads on problems that seem similar to mine, but guessworks and assumptions are what got me where I am, so I'll ask specifically. I'm just half-educated in hardware matters (the worst kind, I know), so be gentle please.
Alright, so originally I was having a problem with my system restarting after shutdown, so I tried downloading upgrades for my motherboard (K8N Neo4 Platinum). The Liveupdate utility gave me BIOS 1.8, which I used through the windows GUI, apparently successfully. Well, until I restarted at least. Now, my main HD (listed by the BIOS as SAMSUNG SP1614C) has changed position from primary master to third master and whenever I try to move it to the top of the boot sequence, I get a blue screen crash, informing me that this is for my own safety and I should run "chkdsk" (however I should manage that). I'm pretty sure it's not the HD that developed an error all of a sudden. Sometimes I get the option of trying safe mode, which of course changes nothing. The flash utility made a floppy, but it seems that's just for putting the same BIOS back on.
    What should I do?

I had that "chkdsk" message quite a few times along "restart" & "shutdowm" and overclock problems. the "chkdsk", "restart" & ""shutdown" stuff was solved by retiring Themaltake 430w PSU. The Tagan PSU and bios 1.6 allow me to overclock the way I want.

  • K8N Neo2 - BIOS v1.9b5

    Hi,
    K8N Neo 2 BETA BIOS v1.9 build 5.
    Is it good?
    Source : www.msi-forum.de

Actually, this is wrong.  The Bios DOES support x2.  Two guys over at Anandtech have tested it with their X2's and gotten it to pick up both cores and windows is showing both cores.  I've also updated to this bios while waiting for my x2, and it shows "1 CPU" next to the processor ID string when the board is posting.  So,this appears to be next generation bios with support for Athlon x2's.  Once I get my 4800+, I'll add my results, and with any luck, I'll be the 3rd person confirming that this bios does in fact support the athlon x2.

D3kTrix ,why you asking for  someone to test it?.You sould test it your self!!!
I will never put a beta or mod bios ,so i am not going to test it,i will wait for the official.
Now, acording with the "God" Murdok that posted the new bios(taken directly from the MSI),a lot of changes are there and many of them was been asked by him directly to the Msi
Some of the changes are: SMART for the SATA!!
New time table for memory(more options)
                                         Vcore up to 1.7v !!!          b u t   not  x2 support.
so, as far as i understand this is a Bios for  OCers.
What is also interesting, is the Version of it , K8N NEO2 Platinum 1.9B5 .  B5 means that MSI is really have a team that prepairing a lot of different vesions of bios, trying to find the perfect (?) before final realise.

  • K8N NEO2 Bios Replacement

Does anyone know if the K8N Neo2 supports bios replacement from places like biosman or badflash?
It looks like there is a PLCC socket, but either its empty or its not removable.
I have a 90nm 3000 Winchester (that I just took by Monarch to get tested and it passed) that won't post. Get all 4 leds on the d-bracket solid. I've tried all possible memory configs. So I am pretty sure it has to be an old bios holding me back, or a really defective board. So if I can order a new bios and just pop it into the slot, maybe its there just in case? would be nice.

Should work with a winchester with one stick of ram, or in single channel mode.
    (2 green slots)
Maybe you have one with a really early BIOS, that won't do that.
I think you will find that a RD1-PMC4 Bios Savior will fit this board (seen someone on here with one) so it's removable.
You either need the correct tool or a couple of bent paper clips.
If you lived in europe, I would suggest http://www.eksitdata.com/_uk/index.asp
Think you would be looking at http://www.badflash.com or http://www.biosman.com/ tho.

is there any bios mods/tricks i should know about?
i cant lock my PCI/AGP............only memory witch is kingsten 3200/400mhz
    MSI KT6V (7021) ver:1, KT600 C/S, bios ver:2.0
    2600+ barton 1.65v
    512 kingsten DDR (400mhz) ValueRam 2.6v
    ASUS V9280 (GF4 Ti4200 agp x8)
    Big ThemalTake (copper)heatsink and fan
450watt Power...........cant remember the spec's but i know its over the recomended for the cpu
    Thank's
    Smoker

Your 2600 should be a 333mhz FSB.That means you can not set the FSB higher then 166mhz.I run a 3000+ on the same board and set FSB to 166X12.5 to get a 3000+
If your processor has a ... FSB then the system clock speed should be:
66MHz (Various Celeron and older): 66MHz clock
    100MHz (Pentium II / Pentium III / K6): 100MHz clock
    133MHz (Pentium II / Pentium III / K6): 133MHz clock
200MHz (Athlon, Duron, Thunderbird): 100MHz clock
    266MHz (Thunderbird, XP): 133MHz clock
    333MHz (XP): 166MHz clock
    400MHz (Pentium 4): 100MHz clock
    400MHz (AMD XP): 200MHz clock
    533MHz (Pentium 4): 133MHz clock
    800MHz (Pentium 4): 200MHz clock
If you do not know the multiplier for your processor simply take the proper system clock speed for it and divide that into the rated processor speed and then round the dividend to the nearest .5. Examples: The Pentium4 3.06GHz processor has a FSB of 533MHz. Its system clock is 533 / 4 = ~133. The multiplier is 3,060 / 133 = ~23.
    The AMD Athlon XP2700+ has a main clock speed of 2.17GHz and a FSB of 333MHz. Its system clock is 333 / 2 = ~166MHz. The multiplier is 2,170 / 166 = ~13
I tried to overclock above the 166 only to have to clear CMOS.If I had a 400FSB,then I could use the 200mhz clock.
I also have to run my Kingston PC3200 at 333mhz or I will get BSOD after a few min.Seems since the FSB on the processor is 333mhz,it only makes sense to run the memory at the same speed to me.Although it will run at 400mhz with either of the single sticks of ram(and yes they are matched 512meg sticks)and I can not figure out why.I even tried to bump the voltage all the way to 2.75 only to get the same results.I now just run it a 333 and 2.6v and have not had 1 problem since.

  • I have no "Performance mode" in my bios

    MB 865G Neo2-LS v1.0
    BIOS from 1.3 to 2.1
And i have no this option in bios setup.
    Where is problem?

I Could be Wrong, But I am Almost Positive that you have to Run the Memory in "Dual-Channel" Configuration in order to Have this MAT Option Show up in the BIOS. So you Must get another Memory Module, and Place it in the DIMM Slot B-3, (That is if you have your Current Module in DIMM Slot A-1) So you should get More memory, As 256MB is really Not enough anyway, and with only 1 Module you Will Never see the Performance Increase to be Found while Running in Dual-Channel Mode................Sean REILLY875

  • Y510p Bios mod, Best unlocked bios settings.

Im starting this thread so that for all who have unlocked their bios for wirelesscard whitelist removal or what ever, using the link on techInferno using svl7 mod can have a guide as to what settings can be used to improve the performance of their y510p and what settings to stay away from.  For those who have difficulties in retrieving the files from techInfernos website can pm me. Any and all suggestions and requests are welcome. Happy modding.

    Hi shfearon
    Thanks for the BIOS files.
I also posted on TI but as you know, no one is reviewing my posts (genuine). Could you please download and provide the VBIOS file as well please, they are in the following thread in second post.

Also, I have another question -
Can I just flash  the VBIOS? I dont need the BIOS unlocked, just the options that VBIOS can provide to play around with the voltages and settings of the Ultrabay GPU.
Thanks again and here is a Kudo for your efforts.

  • How to add AHCI mode to insydh bios

    hi guys
im using hp pavilion g6t 2300 cto notebook
my notebook does not have AHCI mode in bios. can any one help me how add AHCI mode to my insydeh bios
it is too important for me please suggest me some solutions

    Hi:
What you want to do cannot be done as the BIOS in that model is set to AHCI by default and cannot be changed by any means.
When you go into the Windows device manager, click to expand the IDE ATA/ATAPI Controllers category and there you will see the name of the sata AHCI controller listed there.
If the BIOS was not set to AHCI, the controller would have been named differently.
For your specific model, you should be seeing the Intel(R) 7 Series Chipset Family SATA AHCI Controller listed there.
