Modifying additional Layout destroys teh original default layout-Why?
Reports 6i in c/s.
I create a layout, customize it and save it.
Then I crate an Additional Default Layout. OK so far.
Now I want to re-enter in Additional Default Layout and modify it slightly thru wizard.
It destroys my previous original default layout.
Is there any way to avoid it?
Pl. guide.
Tariq
Hi Tariq,
The "Additional Default Layout" wizard isn't re-entrant. It is for adding various layouts to the layout painter but not modify an existing layout.
In addition, the Reports Wizard removes any objects from the layout section that you are defaulting into. Therefore, if you have added an additional layout and then run the Reports Wizard it will overwrite the current layout in that section.
The Reports Wizard gives you a starting point from which to develop your report. If you want to go beyond the options available in the wizard, you will need to use the live pre-viewer and layout painter.

Default Layout Variant using LIST Display FM
Hello All,
I'm using the FM REUSE_ALV_LIST_DISPLAYin my Report.
I want to save the layout Variant as a Default Layout Variant .
But when I'm clicking the option for saving a Layout I'm getting only one check box for User Specific Layout.
How can I set a layout created variant as a DEFAULT Layout Variant ?
Regards,
Deepu.KHi,
Once List is displayed, use the path: Setting->Layout>Layout Management->Click the check box against the layout which you want to set as the default. Then click on Define Default settings, first icon. You can follow the above instructions after running one of the DEMO pgms viz. BALVSD01.
I hope this helps,

How to set default layout for ALV grid ?
Dear all,
When execute ALV reports, the user customize the layout for their own purpose. But each time they run that report, they must choose again their layout. Is there any way to set the layout as default ?
Thank you very much,
Sylvecat.Hi,'
After you have created a layout just follow the steps listed below for making it as default layout:
1. Click (Save Layout).
2. Enter a name in the Save Layout field. The name must begin with a letter.
3. Type in a description for the layout in the Name field.
4. Select the Default Setting check box if you want this layout to be the default layout every time you run
the report.
5. Click (Continue).
Note: A warning message will appear if you are trying to save over an existing layout. Close the box by
selecting the X in the upper right hand corner or choose Yes to overwrite the layout.
Reward Points if found helpfull..
Cheers,

Clarifications about Query Builder and Additional Default Layout in Reports 6i
1) Is Query Builder re-entrant in Reports 6i? If yes, what is the method. As when I tried to re-eter, it gave me message '..... Syntax Error'.
2) IN 'ADDITIONAL Default Layout', Reports 6i does not allow group field to be
included in 'the fields to be printed' list. It allows but in next tab it omits that group field.
As a result no repeating frame for the Group is generated in the 'ADDITIONAL Default Layout'.
What is wrong?
Pl. guide.
Tariq2) IN 'ADDITIONAL Default Layout', Reports 6i does not allow group
field to be included in 'the fields to be printed' list. It allows
but in next tab it omits that group field.
As a result no repeating frame for the Group is generated in >the 'ADDITIONAL Default Layout'. Not sure I fully understand the question but you seem to be saying that if you select a field in the ADL tool, it doesn't show up in the layout. This can only happen if you select a field in the "Fields" tab from a group you haven't selected in the "Groups" tab.
Ideally Reports shouldn't show these fields since you haven't selected the groups. Unfortunately it does and you need to ensure all the appropriate groups have been selected in the "Groups" tab.
At least it will tell you if you have selected a group but haven't selected any fields for the group or if you haven't selected enough groups for the type of layout you're trying to create. -

Wrong default layout for a new customer
Hi all,
I hope somebody can share inputs with regards to this issue.
I'm assigning a default layout to one customer group (layout1 for all Group1). When this was done, a list of customer codes were included in the list and each were ticked from that list.
Second layout called layout2 for the setting 'Set &as Default for all BPs (for Whom a Default Layout Has Not Been Assigned).
Scenario: A new customer code is created belonging to Group1.
Issues:
a. This new customer code does not automatically follow the setting on default layout which is layout1. When the layout1 default setting was double
checked, the new customer code was part of the list, but it was not ticked.
b. When document was previewed, it uses the wrong layout2.
c. The user still has to update the layout1 default setting, ticking the tick box from the list for the new customer code, then clicking update in then
layout designer window.
Question: Is this a normal behaviour of the system? I thought that setting it as default for certain customer group will be applicable even to newly created ones under that group.
Regards,
CathyHi,
I am afraid that it is your SAP B1 version current behavior but you may check using demo database. What is your SAP B1 version anyway ? what is your database localization ?
You may try the solution part from one of these notes below:

How to restrict users to not default layout while creating a user specific?
Hi all,
I have a problem with frequent changes in report layout setting. When users trying to create a user specific layout in the window "Default" is set, out of "User specific" & "default" checkbox defaultly, so users saving the layouts. so it's overwritting on existing layout. we are ossing the old data. how to restrict end users to create new one with out changing the existing one.How to change that default check in "Default" check box to user specific defaultly. where i have to do settings for this. Thanks in advance.
PradeeshHi ,
My problem is still not resolved. I tried applying the people picker property and set a specific field(an email id field) to be available to only admins. Now the field is not visible to the normal users but only admins which is good but that email field
should be able to take normal users as wel as admin's email ID. currently due to the people picker property it only takes admin's ID and not normal user's ID - which is not as per expectation.
What this email ID field does is - when a normal user is logged in he/she wont see this field in that view. But when an admin logs in he/she can switch to admin view and see this field . The admin can put any user's ID in this field and pull out the required
resource's Time Report for modification.
Please let me know how do i overcome my problem. Detailed step description will be very helpfull .
As per Cameron's suggestion (add a rule on the "additional admin section") , i am not sure how exactly that is done. Would help a lot if i got to know how this works.

How to convert a word doc to PDF while retaining original page layout of the word document
I am trying to convert a Word document to a PDF. When I do so, the page layout is changed, with the result that document headings that are on one page in the Word document are on other pages in the PDF. What settings do I need to adjust to retain the original page layout after the conversion--ie. sentences/words on one page in the Word document stay on that page in the PDF. I'm using Adobe Acrobat XI Pro and Word 2013 in Windows 8. Thanks.
Start with having the Adobe PDF printer set as your Default printer.
(You do not want Word changing to match printer metric as this can goober output.)
Open Word. Review all Options of configuration to assure there are no surprises.
Prior to printing always perform updates of any fields (styles for auto-numbering and other such use field codes -- update all field codes before a print job).
When Word is properly configured and the content appropriately mastered then the output PDF will be spot on.
(Input dictates output)
Ensure the installed Acrobat version and Office application versions are compatible.
Ensure the installed Acrobat is compatible with the OS in use.
Check that PDFMaker is configured as desired.
Check that the Distiller job option used is configured as desired.
(PDFMaker and Distiller are installed when Acrobat is installed.)

Seting up a default layout ?
how to setup a default layout in reports ?? i dont see an option or a button for that.
i guess it was available in forms 2.0
but now it isnt there.
there is only a report wizard.
but otherwise is there anyway to do it?In the layout painter there is an "report block" which, I think, was previously called "additional default layout" that provides the same functionality as with 2.0 etc. Of course you can also manually create your required frames, fields, boilerplate, etc.
If you only have a single query then it looks the same as the "Report Wizard". If you have multiple queries then it looks closer to the dialog available in 2.0. -
Xml forms not rendered in default layout set - urgent
Hi guys,
I've to display several properties and to provide the rating and feedback service in conjunction with xml forms because a "NewsRenderer" doesn't support the display of additional properties.
So I tried to use one of the default layout sets (e.g. "Consumer Explorer") but the <b>xml forms are not rendered after selecting the "contentLink"</b> (displays raw content of xml document). I'm looking quite a long for a command that opens and renders the xml forms in a new window - without any success...
Please help! TIA
Regards
Joerghi,
you have to create a XMLForms Repository Filter. Check this link:
<a href="http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw2004s/helpdata/en/21/8df33eef091f39e10000000a114084/frameset.htm">XMLForms Repository Filter</a> -
Photoshop Elements - preferred 'default' Layout?
When I first started using the program, the opened files were 'tabbed', only one open a time in the workspace. Then I made the mistake of playing wiith the other options, to see what thy presented, and ever since, the 'default' Layout is 'floating', which is NOT what I want. Why did the software reset itself, and where (if anywhere) is the magic user option that altered the original display and would let me reset to what it calls 'default' layout? Regardless of whether I use the 'Windows>Images>Consolidate all to tabs' or Layout>Default to get the tabs, the next time I load a set of images I'm back to floating. Maddening - cannot find this described in either of the 2 reference books I bought NOR by searching online Adobe.
Depending on the version of photoshop elements your using, you should be able to go to (Photoshop Elements) Edit>Preferences>General
and uncheck Allow Floating Documents in Full Edit Mode or Allow Floating Documents in Expert Mode. -
Hi Friends,
What is a default layout variant? How to create one?
Thanks in advance.
Tamilarasanhi, something additional to Raja input.
you can load a layout for ALV in programing way.
the ALV variant be stored in table V_LTDX, you can select out the variant record from it. So you can call the ALV with some difference, code like following:
DATA: L_LAYOUT TYPE DISVARIANT.
L_LAYOUT-REPORT = SY-REPID.
L_LAYOUT-USERNAME = XXXX. "user name
L_LAYOUT-VARIANT = XXXX. "the variant name you saved
CALL METHOD GO_GRID->SET_TABLE_FOR_FIRST_DISPLAY
EXPORTING I_STRUCTURE_NAME = 'SFLIGHT'
IS_VARIANT = L_LAYOUT
Then the ALV will be display as the layout you want, without special choose.
Hope it will be helpful.
thanks a lot -
Hi!!
As well as in r/3's alv you can :
*select layout
*modify layout
*save layout
*manage layout
It's possible to do the same in webdynpro's alv??
I would like to save layout and to create a default layout and I only can save a layout.
Thanks in advance.Hi,
Yes you can do that in WDA ALV.
* Click Setting in your ALV ( at top right corner )
* Define your column selection, sort, filter, etc.
* Save as your setting
* When you Save As, there is a check box Initial View. Check this check box and will make your layout as default.
