Modifying sequence timecode when exporting?

Hello,
I am a bit clueless on how to change the T/C for a sequence. The client is asking me for a start T/C of 10:00:00:00 (don't ask why...) for every clip I render, but I just can't seem to find where I can do this. The only (and rather silly) solution I found was to DRAG the entire project all the way up to the 10:00:00:00 mark in the timeline and render it then.
There must be a better solution to set the start T/C for a sequence... Please share your thoughts!

In the Timeline's flyout menu, select "Start Timecode..."
If you have PPro CC with the 7.0.1 update, you'll find that the Start Timecode dialog now has an option to set a value as the default start timecode for new sequences!

  • The sequence number when exporting should represent stacks

When exporting images, I would like the sequence number to apply to the first image in a stack, but the rest of the images in the stack should have the same number as the first one but with an extra suffix. Something like this:
    stack 1:
    DSCN0010.DNG
    DSCN0011.DNG
    DSCN0012.DNG
    stack 2:
    DSCN0013.DNG
    DSCN0014.DNG
When exported, I would like them to be:
    DSCN0010.DNG --> "image-01.jpg"
    DSCN0011.DNG --> "image-01b.jpg"
    DSCN0012.DNG --> "image-01c.jpg"
    DSCN0013.DNG --> "image-02.jpg"
    DSCN0014.DNG --> "image-02b.jpg"

    Hi,
The numbers in a CREATE SEQUENCE statement are all literals; no other kinds of numeric expressions are allowed.
You need dynamic SQL to do anything like what you want. For example:
    COLUMN     seq_start_col     NEW_VALUE  seq_start
    SELECT     1 + MAX (val)     AS seq_start_col
    FROM     table_x;
    CCREATE SEQUENCE TEST_SEQ.NEXTVAL
    START WITH  &seq_start
    MAXVALUE 9999999999999999999999999999
    MINVALUE 1
    NOCYCLE
    CACHE 20
    NOORDER;

  • End of sequence lost when exporting

    Hello everyone!
I have had the problem twice that after working on a sequence for a while it leaves out about ten seconds at the end when I export. The same sequence would have exported fine earlier on. I dont have any In and Out points, although I have tried this as well without success. I have used text on top of the image, and the audio files have been edited in Soundtrack Pro, but thats all the "fancy stuff" i have done. I have checked for blank spaces in between clips and dont have any.
Please help I have to submit something on Saturday and am feeling very unhappy ;-(
    Very thankful for help

YUP! That's the problem.  FCP doesn't work well with H.264. The biggest issues are sync issues, something you might not see until you export.  The problem is that FCP SEEMS LIKE it'll work with that footage fine, it gives no warning.  Apple fixed this with FCX, making it ask if you want to "optimize" the footage...meaning convert it to ProRes.  FCP 7 and lower...didn't do that.  Thus it lead you down a bad path.
If you have H.264 footage, you need to convert it to ProREs before you start editing. Yes, the file sizes will increase dramatically, but that's what you need to do in order to work properly. Working with highly compressed footage like H.264 is difficult, takes a lot of resources. Adobe does this by having you load lots of RAM and use a graphics card that enables a special acceleration engine.  FCP 7 does not have this, so you need to convert.
The quick  solution here is to go to the SEQUENCE menu and choose SETTINGS. In the COMPRESSOR menu there, click on H.264 and scroll up to Apple ProRes 422.  Click OK.  Render the sequence (this will render it as ProRes)...and then export.

  • Retaining timecode when exporting from Quicktime

I want to use imovie to capture video I will eventually edit in Final Cut Pro. The .dv clip that is captured in iMovie resides inside the iMovie project file package. When I import it into Final Cut Pro, the audio needs to be rendered because it is still in the .dv format where the audio is not on a separate track. I'd like to avoid that rendering process, so I'm opening the .dv file in Quicktime and exporting it as a Quicktime movie. The file plays with no problem in Final Cut Pro. The problem is the timecode that was present in the .dv file is no longer there and the video in Final Cut Pro now has timecode that starts at zero.
Is there a way to export and retain the timecode from the .dv file?

There's another thread here discussing the same error message, though not in exactly the same circumstance:
    http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=2212899&tstart=0
Perhaps something in that thread will help you.
    Good luck.

  • Sequence Timecode...

where could I change a sequence timecode or how could change timecode when exporting an OMF? I am on a sequence with a timecode of 00:00:00;00 and I need it to start at 01:00:00;00...
    thank you!

I answered my own question... Thought someone would beat me to it...
A: Timelime drop-down menu, start time... to change timecode.
    Thank you anyways...

  • Iphoto - when exporting photos with their titles,iPhoto changes the manual sequence that I have given and imposes an alphabetical sequence

    Mac mini
Processor  2.5 GHz Intel Core i5
    Memory  8 GB 1600 MHz DDR3
Graphics  Intel HD Graphics 4000 768 MB
    Software  OS X 10.8.5 (12F45)
When exporting a group photos with their individual titles, iPhoto changes the manual sequence that I have given and imposes its own sequence (which seems to be alphabetical).  The export dialogue box allows me to use my titles or to impose a numerical sequence.
How can I keep my titles and the sequencing that I had carefully worked out?

What you are missing is that files have no order - you view them using a program and that program creates the order
When viewing in an iPhoto album you can sort manually and iPhoto will display the photos as you sorted them - but when you move to a different program (the finder for example) you have a totally different set of sorts available - for example in the finder the same set of files can be viewed in alpha order, in size order, in date modified order, etc - none of those are inherent in the file but are sorts set under the view menu
So to meet your requirements you must export with file attributes that allow the finder view options to present your desired view - which is what volunteers here have tried to help with - even though it really does not involve IPhoto in any way

  • Exporting a Sequence timecode to DV Tape?

I have spent more than and hour looking for this answer on the boards and have been unsuccessful. It seems like most editors should know how to do this, but I do not.
When the tape starts, I need the time code to read 00:98:00:00 and then have black and color bars to play for 2 minutes and then the Sequence starts playing at 01:00:00:00.
I need to do this because I am sending this project to a company to have closed captions and audio descriptions added to it. They need a timecoded tape in order to accurately do their job. I believe exporting the timecode to tape this way is the standard among professional editors.
I have a Sony DVCAM DSR-11. It plays DV, MiniDV and C/'/16K tapes.
Is this Deck capable of exporting the sequences timecode to tape? If so, can I use a MiniDV tape or do I have to use a C/'/16K tape? I believe a C/'/16K tape is a DVCAM tape?
If not, what deck do I need to buy in order to do this?
The closed captioning company is asking for the project on a timecoded Beta SP, Digi Beta or DVCpro tape. Are these the standard tape formats among professionals?
I want to provide projects to companies in a professional way. Please advice.
    Thank you,

This post comes from Shane Ross's stickies database, so thank him:
    TC to DSR-11
Since FCP 4 we have been unable to stripe a new TC such as 00:58:00:00 or 01:58:00:00 to a DVCAM tape with the DSR-11. NO MORE!! I think I found a solution.
Get SimpleVideoOut from the Apple (its free):
    http://developer.apple.com/samplecode/SimpleVideoOut/SimpleVideoOut.html
Then create a QT Movie in FCP or Xpress Pro from a sequence which has the starting TC you want on the tape. I just tried it with 00:58:00:00. In the timeline, I just put Bars & Tone for 90 seconds and a black slug for 45 (to take me over 01:00:00:00). You could create a sequence with whatever combination you wanted with the TC set to start at whatever timecode you need for your choice. But the Timeline TC MUST be set to your desired starting code. The exported QT file will have this TC in it.
Then load this DV QT movie into SimpleVideoOut (having selecting Firewire / Apple Firewire PAL or NTSC when you open the app).
Now load a fresh DVCAM tape and set your DSR-11 to:
    REC MODE = DVCAM
    DV IN TC = EXTERNAL
(Have the TC display turned on for this first test so you can verify it has worked.)
Then just hold the REC and PLAY buttons together on the DSR-11 and press play in the SimpleVideoOut app and the new TC will be recorded to your DVCAM tape. Hey presto you are now able to stripe a tape with what ever timecode you want using a DSR-11.
Remember to turn 'DV IN TC' back to INTERNAL on the DSR-11 when you come to record your edit to tape.
The problem with the DSR-11 is that it is not the best deck and starting recording at the exact TC, but playing with the pre-rolls should eventually get it spot on. I have had some success with FCP's 'Edit to Tape' and very good results with Avid Xpress Pro after a few tweaks.
Also, if you just had a black QT file, you can change the starting TC to suite the tape; i.e. 00:58:00:00 or 02:58:00:00 etc without going back into FCP or Xpress Pro and rendering out another QT. To do this, just use Sebsky Tools to alter the starting TC of the file.

  • The sequence does not show when exporting media from premiere

    hi
i have the following setting for my sequence-
    editing mode- main concept bluray
    time base-25.00
preview file format -mpeg bd 1080 50i vbr 34 mbps
    width 1920
    height- 1080
    maximum render quality
issue is when i export media the adobe media encoder does not show the sequence
and when i export in some other format- it only shows h.264 option and not h.264 bluray. as a consequence cannot write any bluray since all the option are progressive
do i need to reinstall something/anything
    issue with mainconcept?
is there a tab where one can add presets in media encoder?
    thanks

If you installed AME through the Creative Cloud, then this is a known issue which was fixed in an update released just a couple of days ago. To get this update, select Updates in the Help menu.
If you're not on Creative Cloud, then please specify which product or suite you installed that included AME, and also indicate whether it's activated or running in trial mode.

  • Pluraleyes - sequence in synch in pluraleyes (3.3) but when exported to PPcc NOT in synch!

Sequence consists of footage from 3 dslr cameras and 3 seperate sound sources. Sent to PEyes3.3 via extentions. Synched perfect when played in PEyes but when exported back to prem pro the 3 sound sources are almost in synch. The video tracks are seemingly synched but way downstream from the start of the sound sources.
    Anybody had trouble like this?

I want to export it for several purposes; all you mention, in fact; to put on the web, to play on the monitor and to make a DVD. As I mentioned, when I exported as a QuickTime movie, it came out as a 4:3 and that of course, looked awful.
Using the conversions, I can scale it as I want to, but to me 16:9 does not look exactly right, either. That is why I wanted to know if there are some proportions in between the 4:3 and 16:9 which is appropriate for footage which is not filmed in true 16:9 but in this option which cheaper cameras have.
The article you linked to, did not tell anything new, alas.

  • Windows error when exporting sequence to movie

I have a project (Adobe Premiere CS3 - Matrox RT.X2 LE card - Windows XP SP3) with several sequences. I have exported to movie almost all the sequences without problems. But there´s one sequence that when I try to export, when rendering (compiling process), suddenly pop´s up a Windows error saying the program encoutered a problem and will be shut down.
I cannot figure out why is this happening. Any help?

This ARTICLE might help you gather some "clues," as to what is happening, when PrPro shuts down.
However, I feel that Harm has the answer with the Matrox card.

  • Fade out doesn't show when exported as a jepg sequence?

I'm exporting my video as a jpeg sequence because I can't get rid of the artifacts when exported as a .mov file no matter how much I mess with the settings. The Jpeg sequence works great the only problem is the fadeouts in the video don't show. Anyone know how to change that?
Or how to get the video to export as a .mov file without artifacts some other way besides changing the quicktime settings.

It still doesn't show. It's within the symbol, using the color effect alpha and doesn't show when playing through the timeline- only when testing the movie/scene or exported as a swf or mov file.

  • Export param UI goes wrong when exporting sequence?

    Hi,
I'm making an exporter plug-in using Premiere Pro SDK 5.5.
I'm adding some parameters in exSelGenerateDefaultParams. These including some tabs, groups and params in each group.
But when exporting in sequence, the UI messed up, all the tab and group names don't show,  excluding the audio and video tab (which name already defined in PrSDKExportParamSuite.h).
Sorry guys edited: the params name do shows, but not the groups and tabs names.
When I export the file (clicking the file and Ctrl+M), the groups & tabs names show nomally.
Another note, I removed some of Premiere already defined commons param like video width(ADBEVideoWidth), height (ADBEVideoHeight), or audio channels (ADBEAudioNumChannels), sample rate (ADBEAudioRatePerSecond), pretty much everything except for ADBETopParamGroup, ADBEVideoTabGroup, and ADBEAudioTabGroup. Since I have no need for them in my plug-in.
Is the removal of those param the cause of my problem? Or something else? I'll very appreciate if any one encountered the same problems or have knowledge about them would help me.
    Thanks

    Thanks, Rally
I set up all my tabs and groups and params in GenDefaultPam(), only the group and tabs name are wrong, and only for second export onward.
Curently trying the caching, but as far as i increased the ParamVersion, nothing has changed.
And I noticed some other thing: Even the params are displayed normally in second export, its value range is mesed up too. For example, if "MyAwesomeParam" has min value of 10 and max value of 20, at first export if I enter 0, it jumps to 10 because the entered value is smaller than the min value. But in second export, if I enter 0, it stays 0.
It is getting more and more confusing really.

  • "disk full" message? when exporting 60fps sequences with "match sequence settings"?

Hi, I have searched the forums for this subject and found many discussions that went in different directions but no solutions or input from Adobe.
    Summarizing,
everything exports well, both directly from PremPro CS6 and from AME (all input files (like 720p or 1080 p .mts AVCHD or .mp4 H264), all sequence settings, all export settings (like H264, 30 fps, 60 fps)
EXCEPT "match sequence settings" for 60 fps 1080p or 720p AVCHD footage, THEN you get the message "Disk full" after 10-20 seconds.
Of course, the disc is not full, there are no applied effects, and it worked well in CS5.5!!
So, Adobe, what can be done about this, no update yet??

    Hi, Ann
    Thanks for the reply.
My cache files are stored on a secondary (7200rpm) 1 TB disc
So are the preview files, render files and the source files, but there are no render or preview files, I just put the footage on the timeline in a "new sequence from clip" (which was AVCHD 1080p 60fps .mts file) and tried to export without editing.
I tried to export to this disc and also to the C: disc but got the same message:"Error compiling movie. Disc Full".
If I made the sequence 30 fps the "match sequence settings" export worked well.
I can export n H264.mp4 format at 60fps but I would like to just trim the clips in the timeline and save them without much loss for later editing.

  • How to force sequence timecode out to DSR-11

My sequence timecode is set to start at 58:30:00 to I can have color bars, slate etc ... and my film starts at 1:00:00:00. Now I want to force the timecode to be recorded onto the tape in my DSR-11.
I've set the DSR-11 to record DVCAM and set the timecode to use 'External'. Within FCP is also seems I have to use 'Edit to Tape' rather than 'Print to Video' if I want to export timecode.
So when I try all this, my sequence will be recorded on to the tape, but the timecode stays at 0:00:00:00, doesn't move. And when I play back the recorded sequence off the tape, the timecode doesn't change, just stays at 0:00:00:00 as well.
So to be clear, I'm not asking about the timecode generator or reader filters. I just want the finished tape to reflect the timecode I've set in my sequence.
    Thanks for anyone's help here.

  • Conform caption timecode to sequence timecode?

Working in a foreign language edit, had to cut and reassemble a caption track along with its corresponding video that needed moving around.  Caption clips move in the timeline and play fine on the program monitor, but the original timecode in the caption bin remains unchanged.  Upon export, captions pop up in their original, pre-edit, bin timecode, so that captions no longer match clips as they did in the program monitor.
Is there an automatic way to conform caption timecode to where reassembled captions appear on the sequence, so that exports work/look the same as the program monitor?  I can't find any documentation on how one would do that. Not that a lot of people need this function, but I do.
Conforming times manually is feasible but slow/ laborious: scrub the timeline,   type in the new start + end timecodes on the caption in the bin, one by one. Of course if the new time overlaps with an existing caption, Premiere won't let you make the change. Untangling this can be a real mess because you need to find un-captioned spaces.
So, to avoid the overlap/untangle mess, one can first change all bin timecodes for after the end of the program (e.g, +1 hour); once lined up in the great beyond I can substract the extra time (again, manually, both start + end timecode) so that they again line up with my video sequence… hopefully in the correct places. But as you can see, laboriousness aside, this invites error (e.g., inadvertently breaking the translation).
Any suggestions for shortcuts or automation for this process within Premiere?

It's true you can't do it in Print to Video.
Edit to Tape can look complex at a glance, but it's really pretty simple. You can get detailed instructions on how to use it in the manual (or search your "Help" menu for Edit To Tape), but basically, this is what you do:
    1. Set your timeline so your footage starts at 00:01:00:00, as you mentioned was your requirement. That means you're sequence actually starts at 00:00:20:00 due to the 40 seconds of bars/tone/countdown.
    2. Open the Edit to Tape window and click the "Black and Code" button at the top of the window.
    3. Set it to "Current Settings" and to start at 00:00:10:00 (you need to give the tape enough code for preroll to start at 00:00:20:00).
    4. Black and Code the tape.
    5. Set the In Point (bottom left of the Edit to Tape window) to start at 00:00:20:00.
    6. Drag your sequence right from the browser to the "Assemble" button in the Edit to Tape window (you can also use "Insert," depending on your requirements).
    7. Done and done.
*It's a good idea to close all your sequences and turn off "Show overlays" in the canvas before you edit to tape. helps things run smoothly.
Also...For the above explanation I am assuming you have placed the 40 seconds of bars/tone/countdown in your sequence. If you haven't, you can add them in using functions of Edit to Tape as well...again, see the manual. It's really quick.
I may have failed to include some steps that are second nature to me so that's another good reason to check the manual or the Help file.
    Hope this helps,
    Joni
(one more thing, make sure your Beta deck is set to "External" when you're outputting so it takes the timecode from FCP)
