MRP Settings

Hi Guru,
Please can one of you say guide me how can i control the deletion and recreation of the Purchase Requisitions during the MRP Run. I know its standard in SAP , but not sure where to control this setting.
1. How Generally the Firming of the Requisitions can be done so that the MRP Run doesnt delete the reqs which are firmed.
2. I want the MRP to delete the older reqs and recreate new ones whichever are not firmed during a new run.
where exactly Opening Period has been used in this process?
Thanks in Advance.
Thanks
Balaji

Q. i need to do to have a automatic firming of reqs once the requisitions fall within the Lead time.
Ans : for this you would set MRP parameters as follows in Material master MRP1 view
MRP type : P1 (instead of PD)
Planning time fence : Lead time
So for example if lead time is 30 days & you have settings as above. then when you have requirements within next  Planning time fence system will automatically firm such planned orders/ PR's
Q. Planning Horizon and Opening Period comes into use?
You define the planning horizon per plant or per MRP group in Customizing for MRP in the IMG activity Define planning horizon.
You can use the planning horizon to shorten the MRP planning run to cover requirements only within a certain timeframe.  The system then only plans materials that have undergone a change relevant to MRP within the planning horizon.
Ex: Set PH at plant level - 120 days. When plant MRP run ( typically at night as a batch job) it will generate planned orders/ PR only upto 120 days. For requirements beyond 120 days, It is ignored. this helps save time for MRP runs.
Opening Period is generally used when you want to limit purchase requisitions from being created within a certain period. Outside the opening period system will generate planned orders. Within the Opening period system will generate Purchase requisition (PR)
Hope this answers your remainig questions.
thanks,

  • Sub contract MRP Settings

    Hello
Can any one guide me , how to do MRP settings for subcontract Proces. We want the system to generate MRP for the subcontract Process, We need B & C Material to Make A.  A is a finished goods , B is going to Produce and ship to subcontract Vendor  and C will be Procured and directly shipped to Subcontract Vendor . We are going to get back A as a finished Goods. Can any one please tell me what will be the MRP Settings required to create a Sub contract Purchase Requisition ?
    Thanks
    JJ

    Hi,
For material B, it is a inhouse production. Set E - inhouse production in MRP2 view.
For material C, it is a External procurement - F, assign in MRP2 view. For material C, maintain delivery place at Subcontract place in MIGO screen, so that material directly dispatch to subcontract place.
For material A, external procurement - F, maintain in MRP2 view. Maintain BOM for material A.
When BOM explodes, P.R will create for material A.
    Send material B by ME2O 541 mvt.
And receive material A by MIGO 101 mvt.

How can I enable the Storage Location MRP settings in MRP4 View?
I think it should be somewhere in the spro.
    Thank you for your help!

    Hi Everyone.
    Acutally <b>MMSC </b>transaction helped me!
I was unable to see the mentioned settings in <b>MM02</b>, even if I was specifying a SLOC.
I already did <b>SPRO ->MRP->Planning->Define Storage Location MRP per Plant</b>  , but it will affect only materials created after the changinh.

  • MRP Settings - Minimum Lot size / Saftey stock /Lot Size

    Hi
I am confused about some of the settings , We set M1(Monthly lot size ) and PD MRP type settings, We maintained the Minimum lot size as 2500 lb and the safety stock as 300.
I tested by changing the Parameters , I am confused.
    Please clarify me
Did MRP is going to suggest the PR once if the stock went below 300 ?
Did MRP is going to wait for the PIR to get accumulate the Minimum lot size settings ?
What will happend if the time bound is beyond a month ?
Please help me to understand the concept

    Hi,
Use tcode OWD1 to create rounding profile.
Select create icon for creating new rounding profile.
    Input new profile name.
In that Threshold value & Rounding value is available.
    Input your value & save.
In MRP1 view give the input of rounding profile.
Example given below for easy understanding.
    Threshold value  Rounding value
        1- 20 -
    >                20
      60- 100 -
    >              100
      900-1000 -
    >           1000
      8000-10000 -
    >     10000
If your requirement is 7, it will convert to 20.
If your requirement is 23, it will convert to 40.
If your requirement is 76, it will convert to 100.
If your requirement is 435, it will convert to 440.
If your requirement is 844, it will convert to 860.
If your requirement is 910, it will convert to 1000.
If your requirement is 8045, it will convert to 10000.

  • MM and MRP settings

    Evening All,
I have encountered some problems with MRP lately, so please look through the settings to pick holes in it.
    MM (MRP1):
    MRP Type: VB
    Reorder Point: 5
Lot Size: ZB (Maximum stock level after covering requirement var.1).
    Maximum stock level: 20
    MRP:
    NETCH
    1-3-1-3  2
It all started to fail when I've changed MRP type from PD to VB, previously it would normally generate PR up to max level.
When I set the ROP I just can't get any planned orders even though my stock level is now below zero (no exlusions shown).
It would be much appreciated if you could find a soultion.
    Many thanks,
    Greg

    Thanks for the replies,
    @ Dario
There are negative quantities at the end. No separate segments have been made, storage and reservation is anonymous (index is an element that is being used within other BOMs).
    @ Jiaul
Lot-Size ZB is essential  - it works like HB, but includes future requirements as well.
    For instance:
    Stock on hand: 5
    Max stock level: 20
And if there comes a requirement for 30 units = > With HB lot-size procedure system will generate order for 30 units only, so we would end up with a zero stock at the end. With ZB Lot-Size it will generate 45 units (so after requirement is fulfilled we will end up with a maximum stock).
    @Sundaresan
    I've runned MRP via MD02

  • MRP settings for PR

    Hi experts
We have the following requirement as far as concerned to Vendor-Material relationship management.
1)We would like to set up vendor per material and that information should follow on while adopting the requisition to purchase order. Which means, when adopting the purchase requisition to purchase order, the system shall propose the vendor against the material requirement. This set up shall work for MRP purchase requirements as well as network/sales order generated purchase requirements.
2)The system should only propose the vendor, however the buyer shall be given the power to change the vendor at Purchase order level. Which means  at purchase order level, we should be able to change thevendor, if required.
Kindly advise us the procedure to setup the system to meet the above
    mentioned requirements.
    Rg

    Hi,
    Goto T-code ME01 -
    Manintain the source list -
here select the vendor for which you want to default at the time of MRP generation---Tick the vendor as fixed vendor in the source list-so that when ever you run the MRP the PR will be created with that vendor.........................
Note: But you cannot change the vendor after adopting PR  to PO
    Hope this may help you.......

  • MRP settings-Strategy group

    Hello PP Gurus,
I have a very basic question. I explain with an example.
    Scenario : MTO
Customer orders for 1 elavator. Say Component Elev
    It has components
    1)Windows Proc key F
    2)Motor Proc key E
Moto components 2a)Body Proc key F
                                  2b)Wiring-Proc key E
    3) Doors (Proc key E)
My question is in reference to strategy. How do I assign the straegies to different components? If I assign a strategy say 85 to header  lever component Elev the do I need to assign the same strategy to lower level components too? Could I use a different strategy for lower level components?Do I need to assign strategy to components with proc key F too, as I dont see any need for it?When should I use MRP type PD or ND to header level material.
Assigning strategy group and MRP type is a bit confusing for me although I understand the functionality.
    Thanks in advance.
    Cheers
    Sunny

    Hi,
My question is in reference to strategy. How do I assign the straegies to different components?
In material master / mrp view  , you can assign what the planning strategy you want for differenet componenets.
It is depends how you going to procure the components -whether you are going to procure before /afte with ref to sales
so it will bevary by planning strategy -make to stock./ make to order res.
If I assign a strategy say 85 to header lever component Elev the do I need to assign the same strategy to lower level components too?
No its not need actually if you going to plan the components depend upon the project. you need to have the diff strategy for components , if you procure the components before/or without ref of the projject.
Could I use a different strategy for lower level components?
you need to have the diff strategy for components , if you procure the components before/or without ref of the projject.
Do I need to assign strategy to components with proc key F too, as I dont see any need for it?When should I use MRP type PD or ND to header level material.
That moe enough to have the strategy for header . but if you going to procure the component before the pjoject . so you need to choose the make to stock strategy.

  • Centrally agreed contract and MRP settings

does MRP consider the centrally agreed contracts during its run (specifically as plants are not assigned in the centrally agreed contract).
So when MRP is run at plant level - is it possible to consider the centrally agreed contract, or in other words, will MRP let you know from which contract (if centrally) to order the quantity
Thanks a lot for ur time

Yes, MRP consider the centrally contract as long as you mantained in the source list

  • MRP and Open PO

    Hi all,
Our client till now have not used MRP. But now they are planning to use it. Every settings for MRP is done. But their requirement is "for a particular PO(which was created before MRP), 1000 quantities of a material are pending for GR. Out of 1000, only 750 should be considered for MRP".  So my question is
    1. Is it possible to do like this?
    2. If yes, what can i do for rest 250 quatities? for the time being should i do some issue or something??
    Please help me on this
    Thanks.
    Rosh

    Hi,
MRP is to find out the requirement and to create the proposals like PR/Prod order /proc order.
A Po is created means the availability check will consider the PO qty if the PO is created before MRP settings or after. Please check the availability check settngs at spro.
If the remaiinig qty to get to come into new MRP run, change the PO qty to 250 and run MRP.
if the PO is not issued to vendor, try to delete the PO so that if there exists any requirement it will come into MRP.
If the PO executed , or if a PO is created normally that much qty will not be available for MRP.Sytem will treat it as no requirement for that PO qty.
Please note that MRP run is to generate for requirements like PR/planned order r.Once they get conveted to PO or Prod Order this qty will be treated as available qty for the requirements like sale.

  • Unfirmed purchase reqs not getting cancelled in the background MRP run

    Good morning,
The system has created Purchase requisitions for 2010 due to the setting in the MRP run. we want to change it to planned orders outside the Vendor lead time and when i run a REGEN MRP with setting 2 (Purchase requisitions in opening period) its not happening. When i run indivudual MRP with MD03 with the same setting its alright, purchase requisitions are deleted and its converted into Planned orders. Can anyone please throw some light on to make backgrouond MRP run delete the Purchase requisition and create planned orders.

    Jags,
You must delete the offensive PRs first.  Regardless of the MRP settings, MRP will still decide that the PRs are valid and will leave them alone.  It will not 'change' them into planned orders.
Run Regenerative MRP with your new settings (Create purchase reqs as '2') but also run your MRP in planning mode '3', delete and recreate planning data.  It will delete all existing unfixed purchase requisitions, and then run MRP.

  • Scheduling agreements in mrp ?

    Hi Gurus,
please explain the over all scope of  scheduling agreements in MRP. my requirement is like if i run MRP for A FERT Material at MD03 it has to consider the sto  scheduling agreement  which is all ready created with sales depot.
    1. wiil the system considers the sto sch agreements if we run the mrp ?(Material will supplied to sales depot through sto sch agreements ).
    2. what is the scope of using special procurement key 40 and 45 (can we use these keys if we procure materials  from more than one plant trough sto sch process ?
    3. what are the mrp settings we need to do for scheduling agreements?
    please clarify my doubts .
    Best Regards,
    Mahesh.

    Hello
What you observe on your system is according to the standard system design. Please refer to the following information, provided on question 6 of the FAQ note 550568, which explains the system behaviour:
    6.  Question:
There are several requirements on one day. Is it possible that the
MRP creates a separate procurement proposal for every requirement?
        Answer:
Same as for the daily lot size with a number of periods = 1 (lot
size TB), requirements of one day are also grouped into one
procurement proposal for the lot-for-lot order quantity (lot size
EX) (see documentation for the lot-for-lot order quantity). Separate
procurement proposals can be achieved only if you work with
make-to-order production. Here, the requirements are managed in
separate planning segments of the stock/requirements list.
I suggest you to work with make-to-order sales scheduling agreement. In this case, system will create separated sales order stock for each document. You can test make-to-order setting planning strategy 20 for your material on tab MRP3 of the material master.

  • "Generic" material master in MRP run

    Hi
Our business users want to use MRP to manage the stock of materials such as circuit breakers. There are however many manufacturers/types and while a certain specification is required, they would be happy to purchase from a variety of suppliers whose products could be different from one another.
Would it be possible to use MRP to do this, and how could that be achieved?
The process envisaged would be something like this:
Material number xxxxx with MRP settings defined; stock falls beyond prescribed level.
System must generate requisition indicating requirement for circuit breaker in general
Procurement must get quotations from variety of suppliers (as per tender and procurement policy) based on minimum specification.
Quotations received must be evaluated and based on price/quality, the supplier selected and order placed.
Item must be received against specific material number yyyyy for that supplier's circuit breaker.
    Any suggestions much appreciated.
    thanks and regards, Lara

you can only receive an item which is specified in the purchase order.
if the purchase order has XXXX then you cannot receive YYYY, you have to receive XXXX and then either use a 309 movement to get it to YYYY, or even better using a production order to make YYYY from XXXX.
Further if you plan XXXX and procure YYYY, then this order does not reduce the requirement for XXXX, and the next MRP run will give you again a requisition for XXXX.

  • MRP ignore unrestricted stock with project stock

We are using Project Stock. When we generate reservations in Project Stock and run MRP, MRP ignors any unrestricted stock in the plant and always creates Purchase Reqs!
Our MRP settings for the Material Master seem correct (zero saftey stock, etc.).
We will want that, when the material is in unrestricted stock, MRP don't creates the Purchase Reqs for the material with reservation in Project stock.
    is It possible ??
    Thank's for you regards
    Serghei

    Serghei,
    Yes, that is exactly right.
When you create a requirement for project stock, the system will perform a net requirements calculation against project stock.  If it finds no project stock, it will create a purreq for project stock.
Now, you have said that your business requirement is that you want MRP to do its work, and to consider unrestricted stock.  The only way you can do this is by creating a reservation against unrestricted stock.  Project stock is always considered in individual segments, apart from unrestricted.  This is a 'feature' of project planning.
It is possible to create a project order, which contains reservations for components, which are valid against unrestricted stock.  However, when you create project reservations manually, they will never consider unrestricted.
Exactly what is your business goal in this effort?

  • MRP Procurement process

    Hello Team ,
I am looking for the correct SAP business practice of MRP procurement process for existing setup.
Current setup : Demand is based on the sales / market demand based on which material is planned . Sales order / Production order are posted which created demand and the daily run MRP creates PR which goes for Release strategy . Once PR is released , then PO is created . As the demand fluctuates , some of the PR's get deleted by the new MRP run. Release strategy exist for MRP PR's greater than $X i.e.PR created more than X $ only will go for Release strategy .
Current Issues : PR created with MRP less than X has no release strategy , and buyer converts the PR into PO . With  the  new MRP run , PR gets changed and has $ value more X value which now has Release strategy determined in PR . So now the issue is that the PR is unreleased & PO is already created .
Business wants to keep changing the existing PR after MRP run as they don't want to overstock parts for which the demand did not exist .
I am sure there are lot of other companies who will have this constraints from business demands and wanted to confirm how the MRP settings are maintained for PR .I am open to have new process also to fix this issue.
    Appreciate your help in this
    Lawrei

Well it sounds like the demand plans (independent requirements) are not credible to the raw material planners/buyers. They think its unrealistically high and are balking at buying the raw material quantities that MRP calculating.
MRP will automatically control stock levels through the safety stock.
There is no point in rejecting P reqs generated from MRP without addressing the safety stock and /or demand. MRP will just replace the requisition quantity on the next run. This will cause purchase requisition quantities to 'stack up' at the start of the time horizon.
To have a bit cleaner process, you could try introducing a planning time fence. Requisitions within the fence are fixed. New requisitions are scheduled after the time fence. MRP will suggest cancelling requisitions if demand drops. The planner can adjust requisitions within the time fence manually if needed. Planners need to be able to do this - it's a big part of their jobs!
Another thing you can do is keep the replenishment proposal as planned orders for as long as possible (via the opening period). Only have requisitions created for a short horizon during which purchasing will quickly turn these into POs.

  • MRP exception message 64 and planning strategy group 52

    Hi Gurus,
I have done extensive search online in the forum to find the route cause why we are getting MRP exception message 64 for a specific material in one of our plants. This exception message does not occur for the same materials which is also produced in another plant.
I was just wondering whether the planning strategy group of 52 in MRP 3 view would have any effect on the frequent occurrence of exception message 64. I know that the 64 message occurs when the routing time is higher than the in house production time. If that's the case where to look for in routing to correct this, apart from this do we need to look at work centers and other details. I'm not a  PP person but still was curious to know see if i could take a shot at it.
Also the MRP settings that we follow in the plant where this problem does not occur is NETCH, Create PR - 2, Schedule lines - 3, create MRP list - 1, Planning mode - 3, scheduling -2
in the plant where the 64 message occurs quite often is Netch, Create PR -2, Schedule lines - 3, create MRP list - 1, planning mode - 1, Schdeduliing - 1
I was  thinking do MRP settings and planning strategy group would have any impact on why we are getting the 64 wexception message
Because of this 63 exception message, the downstream components are getting wrong signals.
    Thanks
    Ravi

    Hello Ravi
Generallt, exception message "64 - Production finish after order finish" is triggered when the order start date is in the past and system automatically changes to forward scheduling to calculate the finish date.
Note 1913017 explains how the order basic date is calculated and adjusted in case of forward scheduling, however, you are using strategy 52 and this is a very special scenario, whever VP planned orders are generated.
The VP planned orders will always be adjusted to the requirements date even if the requirements date is in the past. This is a special feature in the planning segment, since these orders are only kind of 'virtual' planned orders. These orders only have to provide the demand requirements for the components in time.
Therefore, there is a relationship between strategy 52 (VP planned order) and the exception message observed.
