MS Outlook does npo0t connect to the exchange server

My outlook 2010 isn't connecting to Exchange server, what causes this?
It does not connect initially, but occasionally recovers on it's own. No error message, just does not connect. I uninstalled office and reinstalled 2 times. It appears to be working now. They are Microsoft Exchanges. There is not an option to test, there
is however, an option to "repair", but that didn't work.

Hi,
Since it's working now, I can't guarantee the real cause of this issue. You mentioned you fixed by reinstalling Office, there might be some damaged components of Outlook that caused the issue. After the reinstallationk, the components were fixed.
Please keep using Outlook, if the problem comes back, post back to let me know.

The "<cfexchangeConnection>" tag supports both "HTTP"

Also try removing the <!--- protocol = "http"--->

  • Outlook can't connect to our Exchange server.

I give up, it just won't work.
When i add an account in Outlook and specify our server, it just stays at this window:
It never disappears. If i close it i get an unencrypted connection which i don't want.
I've probably configured it wrong somewhere, hints?

    Hi,
For this issue, please ping the Exchange server from the client to check if you can ping Exchange server successfully.
Did you create the Outlook profile automatically or manually?
In order to troubleshoot the issue more efficiently, could you please describe the message in the Windows Security?

  • Can't connect to the exchange server

I'm having trouble geting Mail to work with the exchange server here at work. any ideas?

I tried Mick's suggestions but they don't help. One problem seems to be that my boxname on the exchange server unfortunately has a space in it ("firstname lastname", windows style). Upon initial setup the configurator won't allow this, but even if I set up a dummy username (without spaces) and then add the space into the account information afterward, I still see "could not connect to this exchange server" when I click on "Check Again" in the Mail Connection Doctor.
The outgoing SMTP server is configured as servername.companyname.local, port 25, no SSL, and no authentication, and outgoing mail works fine... so it's not a routing or DNS lookup issue on the local side.
The other annoying thing is that the instructions at
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?path=Mail/2.0/en/ml1098.html
say that the "Assist me..." button should bring up something called Network Diagnostics. But that button is always greyed out, and spotlight doesn't turn up any apps by that name anywhere on the system.
Can anyone suggest a way of troubleshooting just where things are breaking down? I looked at the most obvious console logs and didn't see anything.
    Thanks in advance!
    /H

  • 24.7.0 update link does not connect to the update server

FirefoxESR 24.4.0 was bundled with Debian. For several days, I have gotten a popup message to install the security update, 24.7.0. The Mozilla link from within Firefox says I have the most up-to date version (24.4.0). Apper software manager says everything is current. Every time I click on the install link in the popup, the download window stays on the "connecting to update server..." screen indefinitely, never connecting. Firefox and everything else works fine, there is no apparent reason from this end why connection should not take place.

"The Debian build of Firefox 24.4.0esr is Not updated by Mozilla but by Debian."
    Correct.
"If the 24.4.0esr you are trying to update is actually from Mozilla and not a third-party build then make sure the folder has read/write permissions for that Linux user."
It never gets as far as permissions or actually trying to download an update. When Firefox checks with Mozilla using Firefox's internal update check, it comes back as 24.4.0 being the latest version.
"The Firefox tarball from Mozilla.org is certainly not a one time install. "
What I meant by one time install is that nobody would go through the effort more than once, and then only if there were extraordinary circumstances.
"If you put it in a folder in Home or make sure the folder has read/write permissions if you put it elsewhere then you should get updates from Mozilla as they are released. "
The current version received an update notice from Mozilla. The link tries but never connects with the update server.
"The updates are by .mar files whether on Windows, Mac OSX or Linux. "
I've used Firefox for years, with both Windows and Linux. I've never had to deal with .mar files or .tar files, or manually installing. Everything has always been a one-click automated install for both initial installation and updates.
Also, I don't want to perform a manual install unless it is for critical software, like needed drivers, and there is no other way. I would like to let the system do the work of keeping track of everything installed and its update status. I switched to Debian stable for the stability and am generally trying to avoid introducing software from outside of the tested stuff in their repository. The only reason I've pursued this update at all is that it is a security update and installing it shouldn't really affect Debian's status tracking (unless I stick the new version somewhere else).
I'm assuming that sooner or later, Mozilla will fix whatever problems are preventing the update from working correctly, or Debian will put 24.7.0 in their repository.

  • My gmail account connecting to the exchange server, does not sync correctly

    Hello,
i've been with the sync. problem with my gmail account which is connecting my iPod touch 2nd-gen./iOS v4.2.1 to the google's exchange server, more specifically when i read some emails offline.
Actually there is no sync problem when i read emails online, when the read emails are shown 'having been read' at the desktop browser as well.
That is, the problem i have now is the 'having been read' emails offline do not sync correctly to the google's exchange server.
Hopefully there is some help from this forum i can get.
    Thanks
    YH Kwon

Right now the add-ons got synced but the customization I did to the looks of it did not.
These customizations are: moving the home button right next to the back button and removing the search bar.
Conclusion: it takes a while(about an hour!!!!!) to sync these stuff, at least that is what happened with me though my connection was normal and not slow at all.

  • Outlook 2013 client, not in domain, can't connect to the Exchange 2013 server.

    Hello everyone,
A colleague and me are in the process of rebuilding our Hosted Exchange servers. Everything is working perfectly except for the local Outlook 2013 clients. They are not in the domain but in the same network (through VLANs) as our Exchange server, and still
they can't connect to Exchange without the use of Outlook anywhere. If we use Outlook Anywhere, it connects perfectly. If I ping the Exchange servers (1 CAS, 2 MBX servers) I get response with the right IP addresses.
We've tried to create a new profile, this goes without problems. We enter the FQDN (or IP address) of CAS server and the required usersname, and the FQDN gets resolved to the correct MBX server where the mailbox resides on. We complete the whole wizard and
then start Outlook. We then get the error that Outlook can't logon to the Exchange server.
Is this an authentication setting that is wrong or do we need to use Outlook Anywhere if the PC is not in the same domain as the Exchange server?
    Thanks in advance!

    Hi,
Agree with Martina, all Outlook clients use RPC over HTTP to connect to Exchange 2013. if the server version is Exchange 2013 SP1, only Outlook 2013 SP1 use MAPI over HTTP to connect to server after we enable the protocol MAPI over HTTP.
If you have any question, please feel free to let me know.

  • Mac computers in the office are not able to connect to our exchange server.

We started facing this problem about a month ago in our office where the apple computers can not connect to the exchange server via outlook or applemail or anything for that matter. All the other computers can connect to the exchange server with no problems
and the apple computers can even access the exchange server via OWA but the outlook and applemail apps would not connect to exchange. We have tried even deleting and re-creating some accounts on the apps but they still would not connect. At this point I am
at a complete loss and I looked everywhere through google to find out if anyone else has faced this problem but to no avail.
A little background information. This specific problem started happening after there was an un-expected series of power outages to the servers and they were shut down un-expectedly. I personally restored the servers and turned on all the services and made
sure everything was up and running after the power outages and everything was working fine. Also the first instance of the problem with the mac computers only happened two days after the servers were back up and running again and they had no issues in those
    two days.
Right now we do not have that many mac users in our offices (only 3-4 users) and I have instructed them to use the OWA in the meanwhile but it is however an inconvenience to them. By now you may have realized that I am not a very experienced server admin
and I would really really appreciate any help. I extend my thanks in advance for any insight.

    Hi Martin,
    Thanks for the reply.
Right now I have Apple mail and Outlook installed on my mac laptop and both the applications do not connect to the exchange server. Apple Mail simply does a long process when I give my credentials to create my account and then it gives an error saying it
could not find the server while outlook quickly tells me that either the username or password is incorrect. At the same time I can connect to the server through outlook on my windows computer without any problems whatsoever.
From your reply, I gather that the VIA headers only affect Apple mail and should not affect Outlook app on the mac but right now, neither apps are connecting to the exchange server.
Either way I am trying to find out how to remove the VIA headers because it does not seem that we are using Kemp on the exchange server. Right now I do not have the in depth knowledge that I need because I was not involved in the implementation of our server
system, that was taken care of by a service provider and I was put in charge of mostly simple admin work. Now we are out of contract with the service provider so  pretty much everything has fallen onto my shoulders.
If possible, would you mind pointing me in the right direction to finding out if I am using a L7 load balancer and how I would go about removing the VIA headers?

  • Exchange 2013 - Prevent Outlook Clients From Connecting To A CAS Server In A Different AD Site

    Hi all,
I could really do with your help!
We have 3 physical sites, A, B & C, with sites A & B having a really fast low latency links between them, so from an AD point of view they are 1 site.  Site C has links to both sites A & B, but the link is a lot slower.
We have an exchange design with 3 servers (one located at each physical site) that will form a DAG spread over the 3 physical sites.  Ideally we will separate the CAS and mailbox server roles out and have them controlled by a hardware load balancer,
however we can have both roles on the same server if required.
What we want, is to prevent is a situation where an outlook client in site C connects to a CAS server in site A/B with the mail being hosted on a mailbox server in site C therefore traversing the network twice to get its mail.
From doing the Microsoft training course, my understanding is that in Exchange 2013, the CAS server only proxy's the request on to the mailbox server and does not redirect the request to the CAS server in the site where the mailbox server resides.
I have seen information online stating that a single namespace is the way to go as long as your site links/network bandwidth is good, but nothing to help with our scenario.
Has anyone else come across this situation and how did you get round it?
    Thanks in advance :)

    Hi Johnson,
Based on my knowledge, Outlook Client will connect to the CAS server which in local first.
Please check whether the CAS server that in site C is healthy.
If the CAS server in site C is healthy, please disable the CAS Load Balance for testing.

  • How do I remove Outlook 2013 profile that refers to Exchange Server 2003, Outlook won't start

I have Office 2013 Pro preinstalled on my new Windows 8.1 (64bit) machine. I am on a domain with a Small Business Server 2003.  The server has Exchange 2003 installed on it but I've never used it. I use Google Apps for Business for my email.
I clicked on the Outlook tile for the first time in the Start window.  It took me to an email account set-up screen and set up a profile for me.
But then it came back with two error dialog boxes. One says "The resource that you are trying to use is located on an unsupported version of Microsoft Exchange. Contact your e-mail administrator for assistance."  The other dialog
box says "Cannot start Outlook. Cannot open the Outlook windows. The set of folders cannot be opened. The file C:\Users\mark.hcs\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Outlook\<e-mail address>.ost is not an Outlook data file (.ost)."
Now every time I click on the Outlook tile it comes up with the same dialog and I can't get into Outlook.  I've tried using the Mail control panel applet but, when I click on it, it does nothing.
What can I do to set up Outlook to not look for the Exchange Server so I can set up my e-mail account.

As Socrates said: "I drank what?"

    Hi,
As far as I know, Outlook 2013 cannot connect to Exchange 2003 or an earlier version of Exchange:
    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc178996(v=office.15).aspx
Thus, it’s expected behavior that there will be error when use Outlook 2013. I recommend you update your Exchange server or use Outlook 2003/2007/2010.
If you have any question, please feel free to let me know.

  • Is it possible to turn off my access to the exchange server?

I'm feuding with the ITS department at the moment. They claim they don't want to support my iPhone, they only want us to use the crappy Blackberries they gave everyone. I had to set up my own iPhone - Exchange connection, and it has all worked fine up to now, but about 3 hours ago my entire connection to the Exchange Server was killed. I get no email, no contacts, no calendar, nothing. My fellow iPhone users (3 in my office) aren't getting email either.
I suspect that the evil ITS administrator has turned off access to iPhones, but nobody believes me. Is that possible? Is there any way around it? I don't want to have to carry two phones.
The ITS administrator told my boss this morning (shortly before i got disconnected) that Microsoft might be "turning off" the access to iPhones from Exchange servers. That didn't make sense to me, because Apple is paying MS for the right to use Exchange, right? Also, I googled and couldn't find anything about that kind of an announcement. Has anyone else had issues today?

    gamecoug,
Administrators of an Exchange server can block access for ActiveSync devices server wide, account specific, or even device specific.
In addition using ActiveSync they can specify security policies for connected phones. The iPhone supports remote wipe as well.
    Hope this helps,
    Nathan C.
