MSI 560Ti Hawk weird monitor behaviour

I got my videocard as mentioned in the title FINALLY today (it was announced early april) and installed it to my system. The problem is it gave me no signal on my display (Samsung 226BW), so i went troubleshooting.
Hardware involved:
MSI Geforce 560Ti Hawk
MSI Geforce 275 GTX Twin Frozr OC
Samsung 226BW
Samsung 940NW
DVI-D Single link cable provided by Samsung with 226BW
DVI-A Converter provided by MSI with MSI Geforce 560Ti Hawk
Regular VGA cable
To summarize my results;
1. Using the above mentioned 275 GTX and the DVI cable as mentioned above, there are no problems with both of the DVI connectors on the card regarding operation, works fine
2. When I replace my old card with the new one, and use the mentioned DVI cable, the left or most outer slot of the videocard will NOT work, gives no signal. The central one or the right one (when installed) works fine.
3. When i swap my monitor with the one my GF owns, a 940NW which only has VGA input, it works fine with the mentioned equipment above, so a converter and a standard VGA cable, on both DVI connectors on my NEW card.
4. When i use that  connection (VGA cable + DVI-A converter) on my 226BW, which has DVI in and VGA in, it works on both DVI ports.
So, to even further summarize my findings, I find that the first or most outer DVI connection will NOT work with my DVI cable OR my monitor.
Could anyone shed some light on this and help me? Do I need another sort of DVI cable, or do I have to replace my monitor for it to work on the most left or outer DVI connection on the videocard?

Too me it seems (thinking about it a little more), that my outer or right DVI slot is defective for DVI-D connections. (the actual pins that DVI-D uses are not working properly) When I uses an analogue connection for this port, it works fine, so the analogue pins (which differ from the DVI pins) and with that de analogue connection works fine. When I use the center DVI connection, and my DVI cable as stated above, it works fine, showing both the cable and the monitor work properly. I'm thinking of RMA'ing the card. Any suggestions would be appreciated still

  • MSI 560Ti HAWK GPU Temperatures Diablo 3

    Hello,
I have a 560Ti HAWK GPU running stable at MSI factory settings with -75 core voltage from MSI Afterburner. I am running Win 7x64 with all updates to date. The video driver installed is the WHQL 310.70 from geforce.com. I have a quad core [email protected] GHZ and 4GB DDR2@800MHZ. The motherboard is an Asus Maximus II Formula. The BIOS of the GPU is 70.24.21.00.00 (P1040-0050). I recently flashed the bios with one sent to me by an admin on the site because it had the high memory issue. Flashing the BIOS only affected the memory temperature issue, the GPU temperature remained the same as before flashing.
The GPU gets very hot while playing Diablo 3. Monitoring the temperatures with GPUZ and MSI Afterburner it shows about 89 Celsius with a max of 92. The case is very well ventilated and in other games it does not get over 75. I run Diablo at 1680x1050 with everything on high, AA on, Vsync on, Max Foreground FPS 60.
To test the temperature and the sensors i ran MSI Kombustor for 45 minutes, with OpenGL 3, PostFX on, 8xMSAA, 1680x1050 fullscreen,  and the max temperature was 85 Celsius. The heat coming out of the card felt pretty much the same from when playing Diablo so I can conclude that the sensors are working as they should.
I tried performing a clean install of the drivers and also uninstalling the game. Also I changed the TIM on the GPU about a week ago, it now has Coolink Chilaramic, but the temperature in Diablo didn't improve. Even after changing the TIM the temperature remained the same for other games.
What else can I do to lower the temps in Diablo 3, is the game more GPU intensive than MSI Kombustor?
    Thanks

    Yes its possible
what PC case you use? do you have enough space inside and proper airflow?
have you tried tried MSI VGA drivers for the card?
I have an Antec P182 with 2x120mm intake and 2x120mm exhaust fan with decent cable arrangement. I tried the latest MSI drivers for my GPU, 306.97 but the temps are the same in Diablo.

  • New MSI 460GTX Hawk causing monitor whine

Just upgraded my computer to a new 460GTX.
Noticed that while playing games there is a very noticeable whine coming from
    the monitor.
The monitor is a Asus VH232H
The monitor is about 2 months old and I have used it continually running games with my
    old video card.
    Any suggestions?
    Thanks.
    Nick/West Virginia

Will be hooking up my old acer monitor today. If the noise is still there then obviously there is some issue with the card or its settings.Hopefully I can get this issue resolved. Beautiful video card.

  • 560TI Hawk Code 43 Error!

    Hi,
I just rma'd my first msi 560ti Hawk (hdmi out issue, they sent me a replacement). i got my new one, but its been acting up and not working at all.
I am pretty sure i installed everything correctly, i had an amd card so before i plugged in the 560 i removed the amd drivers. then i plugged in the card, both power plugs and i should've been set! first thing i noticed was the red LED lights were on. Then when i turned the computer on the res was low and there were small, horizontal white lines across my screen. I figured i just had to install the drivers and I'd be fine. So, i installed the drivers, rebooted, and the card was deactivated by windows. Device manager gave me this:
Windows has stopped this device because it has reported problems. (Code 43)
So, i tried installing the drivers, went into safe mode, and used driver sweeper on my drivers. Rebooted to the same white lines and tried reinstalling the drivers to the same problem.
I can only think of two things that could be wrong. either:
    A) The card is shot, time to contact msi
or B) somehow the old, uninstalled amd drivers are messing with it
Now when i got my first 560ti hawk i had to switch from the same amd card and that went smoothly doing the same steps i did above, so I'm leaning toward MSI sent me a bad card. Does that happen? How do you send a customer a replacement card that doesn't work??
Any help would be awesome! Thanks!

In many cases, if you switch from AMD to Nvidia, you need to reinstall the OS.
(your OS might be messed up now).

  • Gtx 560ti hawk problems

    Hey guys!
    specs:
    cpu: i5-2500k
    ram: 16gb g-skill ddr3 ram
    gfx: msi 560TI hawk
    mobo: asus p8z68-m pro
powersupply: 750w (can't recall brand right now)
    soundcard: creative x-fi titanium
    case: coolermaster storm enforcer
    issues
since building this system I have had a collection of issues mostly based around battlefield 3:
    1) when playing battlefield 3 there are a lot of black triangles normally between players and objects, objects and objects etc. This was briefly fixed with a beta driver update from nvidia but started again a few days later.
    2) similar to above but the triangles / shapes are the colors of textures. same as above with driver.
    3) sometimes battlefield will 'minimize' but you are unable to switch back to the game, from here the game has basically crashed and you have to end the task.
other issues outside of battlefield are:
    4) When playing A-10 warthog the textures go all rainbow colors. (this also happens in battlefield but not as common)
    5) when watching youtube, the graphics card has artifacted and crashed.
    my testing:
I ran some tests using msi afterburner to measure temperatures and furmark to stress it. It seems that once the card reaches 80 degrees Celsius it starts to artefact, I then lowered the clock on the core and shaders and it still happened. upon lowering the memory clocks it stopped artefacting. and as long as the card is kept under 80 degrees it seems to not crash and a all of my problems (so far) are gone.
I believe that this should not be acceptable, I paid for a factory overclocked card to save the hassle of overclocking it myself, but have had nothing but problems. Could a bios update on the graphics card fix these issues or should the card be RMA'd straight off the bat?
    Cheers, Dave.

Hey Svet, Sadly we don't have access to another computer to test on, I'm going to pop down to our local pc store tomorrow to ask if they can test it for us.
I've been doing a little more testing with furmark and afterburner - I reseated the card today and cleaned up some cabling, tomorrow I'm going to look at increasing the case airflow as we currently have one intake and one exhaust fan in the case.
after reseating and cleaning the case up a bit the card doesn't reach 80degrees while playing games or running furmark - it does still get to about 75-78. after some more testing and playing around (Forcing it to go above 80 by turning the fan down still causes the card to have issues.)
I've read about these cards going to 100 degrees with no issues, should I be RMAing this card or work on keeping it cool and find another computer to test it in?

  • 560Ti Hawk Stability Issues @ Stock Settings

    Hello
NOTE: This has all started within the last day or so, before then it has been working fine
In the last day or so i have been having stability problems with my MSI 560TI Hawk, running at the default speeds/voltages (950MHz Core, 2100MHz Memory)
I have tested it with MSI Kombustor, whenever PhysX is enabled it crashes within the first second of the PhysX test of the 1280x720 benchmark test.
I have run the 3D tests in Kombustor and they all pass, so my assumption was it has to do with PhysX.
While running the tests sometimes i see artefacts, or random solids where they shouldn't be (hard to explain, but its like jagged points coming off of surfaces), this happens whether PhysX is enabled or not, but usually only on the 1080p test.
Now the bit that is throwing me off is that when i under-clock the memory to 1800MHz it works fine with PhysX enabled on 1080p.
Is there something wrong with the memory on this card?
The weirdest thing in all of this is that black ops crashes when set on max settings, (this uses about 35% of the GPU according to afterburner) but works when i reduce the settings.  However i can run Crysis 2 on extreme settings with both the DX11 and texture patches enabled perfectly fine. I can also run MW3 fine.
I have also been seeing artefacts while watching videos on VLC player, not all the time but sometimes.
    I have tried it all on these NVidia drivers;
285.62 - the latest available that is recommended by MSI (on the MSI website)
    296.10
301.42 - latest available from NVidia
    304.48 - beta version
I am using the latest afterburner available - 2.2.1
    I have the latest Kombustor - 2.3.0

Thanks for the reply, my PSU is a new (March this year) Corsair TX V2 650W and i dont have another PSU to try it with, but the reason i dont suspect the PSU to be the problem is since it would play crysis 2 on high settings which uses more power than black ops.
The problem seems to have stopped after updating to afterburner 2.2.2, which makes no sense to me as to why that would have an effect.

  • Msi gtx 560ti hawk running always max clocks

    Hello.
My msi gtx 560ti hawk running always max clocks.
OC core clock up to 1000MHz gives similar results.
OC core clock past 1000MHz will stuck it at 1000MHz. Example i set core clock to 1040MHz and run 3DMark11,but
during the test it never exceeds 1000MHz.
Card is 15 months old and worked normally so far.
    My OC results before was
core clock 1000MHz Core Voltage 1.075V
core clock 1040MHz Core Voltage 1.088V
core clock 1100MHz Core Voltage 1.100V max temps ~78C
I never raised core clock over 1100 and memory clock over 2275.
    Things i'm done so far
    used 310.90 310.70 306.97 306.23 301.42 drivers
    disabled antivirus
mounted card out of the case and switched vbios in silence mode
used Afterburner 2.2.3 Evga Precision X
    reinstalled windows7
    reverted cpu to stock clocks
    Any advice?
    System
    MB: msi z68-gd65 (B3) bios V22.8
    cpu: i5-2500K
    gpu: msi gtx 560ti hawk
    psu: corsair TX750V2 (62 amp 12 rail)
    ram: G.Skill F3-12800CL9D-8GBXL 2x4g 1600
    os: Windows7 SP1

No! Nvidia controlpanel was set to max perfomans and windows power options to high perfomance.
I changed nvidia to adaptive (windows stayed high perf) and now the clocks to come down again.
    Thanks Svet!
There is still a OC problem when i set core clock over 1000MHz.
I just ran 3dmark11 at following overclock core     1040MHz
                                                                  shader 2080MHz
                                                                  memory 2100
                                                                  core voltage 1.075+0.013
In results window the 3dmark11 says core clock 1040.
Afterburner 2.3.1 monitoring window says max core clock 1000
                                                                              shader 2000
                                                                              memory 2099
Although i´m not seeing shader adjusting bar in 2.3.1, there are  only core clock adjusting bar.
But adjusting a core clock will adjust shader x2. Am i right?

  • MSI GTX 560Ti Hawk SLI not available

I have 2 MSI GTX 560Ti Hawk and when I go into Nvidia control panel SLI is not available as an option.
Both cards are visible and working properly in both the Device manager and the Nvidia control panel and the bridge is installed between the cards.
I am using Nvidia driver 285.62 which I have completely removed and reinstalled to try and solve the problem.
The only strange thing I noticed when installing the cards is that there is a small switch next to the SLI bridge that is marked Performance and Silent. When I opened the boxes one card had the switch was set to performance and the other was set to silent. Looking on the net I found that this was how aggressive the fan control was so I set them both to silent. After running into the problem of no SLI I also tried shutting down the machine and moving both switches to Performance but this didn't fix the issue.
Motherboard is a MSI Z68A-GD65 and Live update 5 says its up to date.
Any pointer on where to look would be appreciated.

K  problem sort of solved. I installed an old nvidia driver 270.61 and it works perfectly. Guess I'll just use the old drive until a game is giving me major issues and then see if a new drive is safe.

  • MSI GTX 560Ti Hawk Temps & Cooling

    Good Day ...
I have had my pc for around a month now and have noticed that while folding and gaming ... I am hitting between 75 and 87 degrees with the fan profile never going lower than 80% ...
    My question is ...
Are these temps still in a safe range and if I change cooling will it void warranty ?? ... (looking at the Arctic Extreme 2)
Also ... What is that little switch and 3 pin connector on the top of the card ...
    My Rig.

Temps listed are in safe range, if you change the cooling yes this will void the warranty.
You can try to reapply GPU's thermal paste and to retest, also ensure that you have enough room inside PC case along with good and enough airflow.

Also ... What is that little switch and 3 pin connector on the top of the card ...
It is switching between 2 different vBIOSes, one is performance one and other is silent one.
    It's related to FAN behavior

  • 560ti hawk crashes all the time

    Hi,
I have bought a 560ti hawk for my fathers pc last year.
He mostly wants to play battlefield 3 and bad company 2 with the card.
His PC is stable otherwise and no problems in windows. Battlefield 3 crashes very often (every 5-10 minutes). It first goes black and then drops to the desktop.
unfortunately bad company 2 also crashes out to desktop but not so often.
    Problem remained:
    Things I tried:
reinstalled directx, resintalled windows in desperation, updated all pc drivers, bios etc. Except the card which i couldnt find any help for.
flashed the bios of my fathers PC. Underclocked the Hawk. installed the MSI voltage regulator tool (no help.)
monitored tempereatures (goes to about 76C max) which should be ok.
I have tried approximately 10 different version of nvidia drivers the new version 3 drivers are the least stable.
I installed the new msi liveupdate 5. which after a scan shows me nothing. Just a (broken) empty grid. Who programmed this...
I have not found any other way to install new bios on this card.
So a friend of mine told me that his 560ti (gigabyte) was doing the same thing and that the 560ti range has a voltage problem that was solved in a later bios. He installed this and the problems stopped. Sadly MSI doesnt seem to have updated my cards bios since last year.
I have now removed this card from my fathers pc and put in in mine which is rock solid in battlefield with my ATI 5870. Uninstalled and reinstalled drivers.
played for about 30 minutes and the game crashed. I had to kill the task. It is also a lot noisier than my 5870 which is now sitting on my desk.
I am now at the point when im going to write this card off, :( please help.

    Hi,
Thanks for the quick response. I normally use the NVidia drivers uninstall to clean the drivers before installing a new one.
Yes I tried to push the voltage higher and all the way to the right as afterburner let me. It didnt help at all. I also tried the MSI Active Phase Switching app which didnt anything other than waste desktop space
I have tried two powersupplies: first pc, corsair: GS700W, second pc (mine): FSP 750W.
I have now, tried reinstalling windows, so the driver cleaning theory I think we can exclude. It still crashed with the latest drivers 301.42 with a fresh install. I now downloaded the latest msi drivers and will try them for a while 285.62.
SERIAL on the card if it helps: 602-v260-04SB1108081902
Is there no bios update for this card? why are there so many posts saying that a bios update fixes this type of problem?
Thanks for your help so far.

  • Getting audio through HDMI on MSi 5770 Hawk

    Hey all,
I just built a new system using the ASUS P6X58D Premium motherboard and I have two MSi r5770 Hawk graphics cards CrossFire'd.  I've got my monitor plugged into the DVI port and also an HDMI cable from the HDMI port to my surround sound system (and to TV).  I'm not getting any audio out of the HDMI (not surprising).  I'm reasonably sure I need a SPDIF cable from the graphics card to the motherboard.
So I think the graphics card came with two of these weird looking SPDIF cables that just have the connector to the graphics card and these two weird socket cables.  There are two problems with this:  For the two weird socket things, I don't see anyplace on the motherboard for it to go.  Second, the cables are literally like two inches long, so there's no way it is going to reach the motherboard even if it were the right cable.
So I guess what I'm wondering is if anyone can tell me what cable I need to go from the SPDIF connector on the P6X58D Premium mobo to the MSI r5770 Hawk graphics card.  Or do I have the wrong idea?
    Thanks!

Are you describing the MOLEX to 6 pin power adapters and not S/PDIF cable? S/PDIF cable is about 130mm (12 in.) long 2 wire cable and are only supplied from MSI with NVIDIA VGA cards. ATI should have internal S/PDIF and I don't think they need the cable.

  • GTX 560Ti Hawk high temperature and noise

First of all I want to say "Hi" because this is my first post here!
Second, I have problems with my GTX 560Ti Hawk! The problems are high temperature and very loud fans! I bought this card less than a month ago and it didn't work properly from the first day but I wanted to give it a chance so I kept it for a while so I could monitor symptoms. I haven't even tried to OC it. I monitored it the way it came from the box.
In idle card doesn't go over 40°C which is fine by me considering the weather but when I play games it goes all the way to 85°C and it's loud as jet taking off! It's is pretty much intolerable to be near this card when playing games! This product is advertised to be very cold and very silent but now that isn't the case. What bothers me most is that the card was running on open bench table which has very good air cooling ( I made it myself and decreased ~10°C compared to my case). That means that my Hawk would have burned if tested inside the case, or it would fly away!! :D
Everything is good until card hits 76°C - that's tolerable temperature and the card is still silent, but when it hits 76°C and goes up, all hell breaks loose!
Card doesn't crash and it runs perfectly (got performance increase ~30% from my GTX 460) but way higher temperatures and noise above advertised makes me wanting to crash it with a sledgehammer! :D
I RMA it today and waiting for answer which should arrive in two weeks tops (quick when taking money but very slow when support is needed)
I wanted to ask if RMA is even possible when card isn't crashing??? I RMA cards with similar problems before with no problems but that was Gigabyte - not sure what can I expect with MSI because this is my first MSI product since 2003. RMA should be possible because card has failed to fulfill expectations which are guarantied by MSI...
If they refuse to send another card or return the money, what should I do???

  • DVI - No Signal - 560ti Hawk

    Hi all,
I have had my GTX560ti Hawk(great card when it works...) for a couple of months now & from the second week i have been receiving a 'dvi no signal' error on a black screen. It is very random & can happen anytime wether my pc is idle, browsing,(never actually happend during gaming tho).My first couple of times it happened i had to clear CMOS to get back to windows but now i just hard shut down & reboot. The weird thing is when it happens,i still have sound & my music will keep playing like nothing is wrong.I have tested both DVI & VGA & still get the error, also i have tested both ram sticks & dimm slots,HDD,DVD Drive & all have been given the pass mark (i was thinking it might be the mobo).
I am starting to think it is the GPU,voltage maybe ? power issue ? I have never touched any settings in afterburner other than set up my fan profiles so everything is stock. My temps run fine @ idle (30 degrees) & under load (75 degrees in BF3),no issues there.Case cooling is excellent.EVER driver & bios is up to date unless there has been a msi GPU bios update for this card in the last month ??? Any & all help is appreciated

I've been having similar problems myself with the screen crashing and going black when hovering the cursor over a browser link, lots of 560 Ti users have. I can't be sure you are experiencing my exact problem but I think swapping drivers is worth a try, it sure can do no harm. As far as I know the only game making good use of the newest Nvidia drivers (anybody can correct me on that if needed, lately I played The Witcher 2, Hard Reset and  Deus Ex Human Revolution, I might not be completely up to date with the most current games and related driver issues) is Battlefield 3. Incidentally this forum has seen a big increase in the number of new users complaining of problems occurring when playing BF3, from what I read especially in multiplayer. Ok, I have had this card installed for about a year now. From the beginning Catalyst Control Center had given me error messages, "Catalyst Control Centre: Host application has stopped working. Windows is checking for solutions" every time I start the machine or every time I try to use the Catalyst Control Center. This has not been a problem because I have been using a 2 monitor system using the DVI port from on and the HDMI to Display Port adapter to the second larger monitor (if I went straight HDMI I can't change the settings and I end up with a 1 inch black border around the desktop and the outer edge of the 23" monitor,) so I just worked around with the HDMI to DVI. Well now I am trying to hook up three monitors. One to the Display port through a Displayport to DVI, one to the HDMI through the HDMI to DVI and one to the Display port. No matter what I try to do through the Windows display control panel, I can not get the displayport monitor (which ever is hook to that port) to display. Windows 7 does detect all three monitors, but it will not allow me to "extend the desktop" to the third monitor and I still can't get the Catalyst Control Center to work.
I have uninstalled all files from ATI or AMD that involve the video and reinstalled the latest drivers and software, but the Catalyst Control center still is not running.
If you could help me with this it would be great. I am a graphics designer and web designer/developer and not a hardware or software tech and I have been googling and trying different possible answers since yesterday morning.
    My graphics card is
MSI R5770 Hawk Radeon HD 5770
    My computer is
Dell Studio XPS 7100, AMD Athlon IIX4 630 Processor 2.80 GHz
    8 gb
    64-bit operating system
I am attempting to hook up a LG W2361 to the HDMI through HDMI to DVI adapter (presently working) at 1920 x 1080
an LG W1952 (at 1440 x 900) through the DVI port to DVI (presently working) and
an old Samsung SyncMaster 170t  to the Displayport through a the adapter (not working) monitor is detected but it will not allow the extend desktop to be applied.
Hope someone can help, thanks in advance for just reading all of this.

Just incase anyone runs into a similar problem. I figured it out.
Somehow in one of either the ATI driver updates or in a Microsoft update, my drivers and software was contaminated. I deleted all software and drivers for the card, which I had already tried several times. But this time I went into safe mode used CCcleaner in safe mode and cleared the register of all entries. I then reloaded and the Catalyst Control center and it works fine now.
The problem with the three monitors seems to be that the one hooked to the displayport, if you are using more than 2 monitors, must be hooked to an active displayport adapter. I was using a passive adapter. So either I need to buy a very expensive adapter or.....maybe a new monitor that uses displayport.
Hopefully this will help someone else having this issue.
