  • Problems with my new MSI N580GTX-M2D15D5/OC Please help

Hi, purchased the above card from kuala lumpur, Malaysia on the 19th February 2011 when I visited Malaysia. Installed the card on my Core i7 950 rig.
My card is MSI N580GTX-M2D15D5/OC 3DMark 11 edition.
Had issues installing the card, blue screened many times. I was using a GTX295 with a 8800GT to handle physx earlier with no problems what so ever.
So I removed my 8800GT and checked only with the new GTX580, the card runs as an OC edition, but now the problem is I experience random freezing when I run 3D Mark 11 (It says " windows focus was lost" during bench mark running) and Crysis.
Even Mafia II bench marks gives me a rather low rating as "D", where I was getting a comfortable "C" with my earlier 295 arrangement. Crysis crashed many times too.
Posted here is a screen shot of my GPU Z and afterburner shows a 1000 mv. And I am using 266.58 drivers.
My Rig specs are, if it helps:
1.ASUS Rampage III Formula LGA 1366 Intel X58 SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 ATX Intel Motherboard
    2. Intel Core i7-950 Bloomfield 3.06GHz 4 x 256KB L2 Cache 8MB L3 Cache LGA 1366 130W Quad-Core Processor

    12. Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit
If I am to RMA the card it's going to complicate matters as I am living out of Malaysia.. can there be a VGA bios upgrade solution? I am kind of sad that I had to purchase this card..Please advice

Hi Swet, did all the testing in between my work, sorry I got late to reply.  Smiley
It's like this. Managed to get 3D Mark 11 working back again after so many tries. I just disabled the screen saver, and it was okay after that. Strange isn't it?
    with 1025mV I got a reading of P6350 and with 1038 I got P6365.
we can assume this as 3D Mark 11 issue

D mark vantage running was okay. Completed Furmark bench successfully many times. No issues there.  http://www.ozone3d.net/benchmarks/furmark_score_190.php?id=147818
Looks like to be Kombuster issue.. since Furmark can work fine. Kombuster is based on Furmark.
If you apply reference clocks from AB does the issue described persist with Kombuster ?

I didn't go ahead with it without consulting you. Please be kind to check it out for me.
Also I could play CRYSIS 2 Demo without any issue with 1025mV and 1038mV both.
Temps were around 70-75 C. Is it okay.
    My personal preference is 1038mV.
Well, what do you think? Thanks very much.  Smiley

I've check it and it's the same version as your current installed.
E.g. flashing to this one will not change anything

  • MSI X58A-GD65 new BIOS

I have motherboard MSI X58A-GD65 bought in September.
It is possible to flash it new BIOS v.23.0 or not?
    Now i have BIOS v. 22.1

    Hello every body.
Does anyone check 7522vM3 22.3 bios?, the 22.2 was a disaster, but what about 22.3?, or perhaps it works and resolve the problem of suspension state when you make overclocking.
    Code: [Select]
    X58 Platinum / X58 Platinum SLI = BIOS version 3xx
    X58 Pro / X58 Pro SLI / X58 Pro-E / X58 Pro-E SLI = BIOS version 8xx
    X58A-GD45 = BIOS version Pxx
    X58A-GD65 = BIOS version Mxx
    X58A-GD65 = BIOS version Nxx
The BIOS is for LiveUpdate ONLY!
No need to post BIOS Mxx & Nxx since there are different BIOS version
    with the same marketing name.
    X58A-GD65 (MS-7522) V22.3 BIOS Release
    1. This is AMI BIOS release
    2. This BIOS fixes the following problem of the previous version:
    -  Update CPU micro code.
    -  Improved memory compatibility.
    -  Update LAN option ROM.

    My experience with X58A-GD65 Bios
22.0 = dont get out from suspension state, Overclock runs ok
22.1 = it runs ok, OC ok
22.2= it has lots of problems, the main is the inestability of raid 0 over SSD, lots of blue screens, OC inestable.
So, dont upgrade to 22.2, stay in 22.1.
The upgrade of the bios shoud be done from the BIOS (you have an option to upgrade with an usb memory stick).

  • New to MSI. Will new bios cool GX740 by at least 10 degrees See notes

Hi Guys, Love the GX740. I have bios (E) and was wondering if (F) (latest)  Would cool the laptop by more than 8-10 degrees.
Laptop idles around 58c  Games around 78c. Vbios is updated by seller. Is this Temp. normal
If new bios will not adjust temp a lot prefer not to flash
    Thanks, Bckh4 :azn:

    ^ haha ^
    Correction, temps listed are ANNOYING.
You can flash the vBIOS but thats not a great idea if you haven't done it before.
Easiest is to create custom downclocking & undervolting profiles with ATi CCC.
It is the same for the gx640. Google it for a guide.

  • MSI Neo4-F New Bios

has anyone tried this yet?  they just released version 1.9 after removing 1.8 because of the many problems it created.  i'm wondering if they fixed the issue with the onboard sound disappearing.

I upgraded from exactly the same motherboard - now that was a damn good board and never gave me a problem. Worst board I've had in recent times was the A7N8X Dlx 1.06 rev... (Urgh!)
Unfortunately, fast boot didn't show me any cpu info at reboot - it just took longer to boot from cold as it counts the memory - turned it off cos I'm impatient .
Hopefully MSI will fix this wrong CPU count problem in the next BIOS.
I have a Radeon X300 (sloooow but its just to get me going 'til the new ATI boards are out), 2x512mb Kingston HyperX PC3500, Promise TX4 SATA controller, X2 3800+, Antec TruePower 480 PSU.

try the card in another system

    You have to..,
800MHz, 4096MHz are the right clocks for your card and not 822...4276

It will be still OC-ed, stock/reference clocks are 772MHz,4008MHz,
while you will have 800MHz, 4096MHz as OC version

  • N580GTX-M2D15D5 & N580GTX-M2D15D5/OC

    Hey MSY forum members,
I was just wondering the differences between these two cards...
Thus far I have come to the conclusion that they are an identical card, however one has higher clocks by default, and potentially higher voltage...is this correct?
Besides the voiding of warranty side of things, can a factory N580GTX-M2D15D5 be flashed to a N580GTX-M2D15D5/OC BIOS? Is there any other physical difference between the two besides increased clock speeds?
I am just interested in increasing my clocks from the N580GTX-M2D15D5 to the N580GTX-M2D15D5/OC and nothing more seeing as they appear to be the same in every way (identical PCB?)...I do not intend to achieve an OC from a lightning or twin frozr version either...
Please note i am aware that MSI Afterburner can be used to achieve this particular OC
    Kind regards
    - Grechie

The only difference is in factory OC.
Etc: One is guratanteed to work with OC settings, while the other is not.

Don't do this as they can use different memory type and to kill your VGA.

Hi zunaid, check this out : >>Disable GeForce GTX 580 Power Throttling using GPU-Z<<, but  I never do that because mycard already has OCP unlocker ^_^
I also never run Furmark again as it draws too much power and can damage your card.
Btw I think there is no new BIOS for GTX580.

  • MSI 975X Power Up Edition V2.1 Issue Beside Overclocking After Flash New Bios

    Hi all,
I hope I can get a lot of help here. I'm having a few issues with this board. I cannot find any thread that discuss other issue beside overclocking after you flash a new bios. Here are my problem:
    1.  I installed fresh WindowsXP with SP2. Windows cannot detect new usb device eventhough WindowsXP recognized the usb controller. If I plugin any usb device, windows does not detect a new device. I try to stick a USB flash and I can see the light for a few seconds but Windows cannot detect it. Before I upgrade the bios to version 715 (beta), I used usb flash to upgraded it. Now, the bios is not even boot from usb flash.
    2. Other things that concern me, the southbridge chipset is really really hot. If you touch it long enough, it will burn you.
    3. I cannot figure it out the front audio from manual book (JAUD1). Is any of you know where the mic needs to go?
    Thanks

I removed the Big Typhoon from the MB and I replace with stock fan.  I want to make sure the back plate from Big Typhoon doesn't cause any problem.  When I bootup the windows, I saw WindowsXP recognized the USB device but it disappeared again. I took the MB out from the case and test it without a case. It stills does not recognize the usb. Somebody mention bad PSU(Power Supply Unit) may cause a lot wierd problem. I changed PSU from RaidMax Vocalno 630W to Ultra X-Finity 500W. I don't have a lot of stuff that require power. Do you think the PSU cause this issue?
This is list of my comp:
MSI 975x Platinum PowerUp Edition V2.1
    Conroe E6600 Retail
    Seagate 300G SATAII
    Maxtor 120G IDE 100

    NEC 3550A DVD-RW
    Ultra X-Finity 500W
    120 mm Fan
    80 mm Fan
    Big Typhoon
FYI: USB Controller and USB 2 Controller are enabled in BIOS.

  • How do I get MSI to Send a New BIOS Chip? (EOM)

    .

    Hi Curbstone -
If you are in the United States, call their technical support number at (626) 581-3001.  You'll have the best luck if you get through to a live person.  My personal experience at getting a new BIOS chip out of their California Technical Support office was that voice mail messages left at technical support result in no response, e-mail message result in no response, faxed in problem report forms result in no response.  When the line was personally answered, I had a new BIOS chip in hand three business days later, free of charge.
If you are elsewhere in the world, click on the Contact Us link at http://www.msi.com.tw .
Another option is to link to http://www.badflash.com and request they send you a replacement BIOS chip.  Cost is US$20 plus shipping.  It may be necessary to e-mail them the BIOS you wish to have flashed.
The following assumes that you have a K7N420 Pro board (you don't have a sig line to tell otherwise...):
If you know someone with an EPROM burner (or are friendly with a local electronics or computer store that has one) you can download the BIOS image of your choice and have it burned onto a new chip.  The chip is either a Winbond 49F002UP12B or a SST 49LF020. The chip is a Plastic Leaded Chip Carrier (or PLCC) module. Shouldn't cost too much (maybe US$10 - 20).  You can pull the PLCC module from your board carefully using a small jewelers screwdriver or use a PLCC Chip Puller from Radio Shack - part # 276-2101 (about US$8.).
