MultiLine fields not overflowing correctly on PDF

Hi all. I have an issue where the sections that i'm appending into a multiple multiline field section overlay each other.
So imagine three sections. One small .5" dummy section to start. One large 10" section with three multiline fields in it. There's a .5" footer. I append two sections into EACH multiline field in that large section. Depending on the fields in the sections, the last multiline will _have to_ overflow and it's two sections _should be_ on the 2nd page.
The large section has 'can grow' and 'can split image' marked at the forms level. Position is rel/max+0. The footer is copy on overflow. The multiline fields have can grow and can span marked in their properties.
_Results_ : When the last multiLine overflows, the text of the two sections in that last MultiLine field overlays each other on the 2nd page.
Thoughts? ideas?
I've tried adding "PaginateBeforeThisImage" section rule to a section in the last MultiLine field. No luck.

Would it be possible for you to break the large 10" section into 2 smaller sections say 5" each. Size of the 2 smaller sections does not matter and need not be equal also; only thing is can you break them into smaller ones instead on large section having 3 multi-line fields in it?
P.S: "PaginateBeforeThisImage" section rule is not required for this situation.

Hyperlinks not saved correctly in PDF and Excel

Hi,
I have a few reports with hyperlinks to other reports that contain multiple input parameters, which makes the links very long. ( greater than 400 characters )
When the reports are saved as excel, I am unable to invoke the child report on clicking the link as the link is not saved entirely ( can see that when i try to edit the hyperlink in excel ). Therefore the child report opens but prompts for inputs as not all the inputs are passed
When saved as pdf, the link is not saved correctly and i cannot invoke the child report at all
Please can you suggest a solution/workaround? Alternately is it possible to disable the hyperlinks when saved as excel/pdf?

I think this is a limitation in Excel where URL syntax has to be 255 characters or less
In order to prove that it's coming from excel and not BO, try in excel to create a false hyperlink which contains more than 255 characters.
A workaround might be to modify the cell as text and will not be recognized as a URL. So you should get it entirely.

Internal Links in HTML Document Not Working Correctly in PDF

I have an HTML document that contains internal links (basically a Table of Contents). When the document is displayed in a browser, the internal links work correctly. However, when I use Acrobat 8 Professional to create a PDF version from the HTML source, the links don't go to the correct place when clicked. It almost appears that they are off by one, e.g., link 7 goes to anchor 8. I can send the source document for you to look at if you email me at eharris -at- synnovation.com. I am not expert in HTML and perhaps the links/anchors are not done correctly when I create the HTML document. Does anyone have any ideas on this?

This one has the same problem. For instance, "Anchor1" as <a name="Anchor1"> appears 13 times. I am sure that your problem is that Acrobat is going to the last occurance that is just before the first one. As I scan through the file I find similar results for all of the anchors. When I used Tidy, it reduces about 1350 errors to about 474, but that is still not too good. The validator is flagging a lot of identical IDs as well as unrecognized attributes (like ONSELECTSTART). I am not looking at all of your HTML in detail, but there appears to be a lot of unneeded things based on the error messages from the validator. Many browsers will let you display the stuff (even Acrobat), but there may be errors that crop in when you do not expect it or on some other browsers that the one you check. Thus again, you should use a validator. If you are only off a few tags that might be fine, but when it is in the 1000s, there is an issue. It would also be good to break your page up into parts. It is good practice on web pages for each page to be not much more than one screen. That is often exceeded, but 59 screens of info (on my screen) is a bit much. The TOC is definitely needed in that case, but just was well go to a sub page just as well and make the info easier to track. A PDF (as you are trying to get) could be made of the entire system for those that want it all in one bit. Bill

Text layers not saved correctly as PDF from PS?

I frequently save layouts I do in Photoshop as PDF's. Lately I very often will discover the text does not display correctly in the PDF. One or two lines of text will display as white with a thin black outline, rather than as the basic solid black I'd specified.
I work on a Windows 7 machine with the current version of PS. The text is on layers when I save the file to PDF (from PS), but I do not include the layers in the PDF, so they should be flattening down.
Any ideas why this happens? I noticed a few weeks ago when it was also doing this that I updated the program a day later and the PDF's were not exhibiting this issue. But, now it's starting again. A big timewaster for me.

Text doesn't flatten until you tell it to. In fact that may be the problem here - you are telling the PDF maker to not retain vector text and when it tries to flatten, some layer style or something else gets in the way. Try to play with the PDF options. also manaulyl flatten the document in PS before saving to PDF...

Wingdings not exported correctly in PDF by Crystal Reports XI JRC in Linux

I have a report that contains checkmark and scissor character from Wingdings/Wingdings 2. The PDF file is generated via a program using Crystal Reports' Java Reporting Component. When I am testing it in my machine (Windows), the checkmark and scissors characters are shown correctly. But using our Linux Redhat server generates a "P" instead of the checkmark and a quotation mark instead of the scissors.
With the thought that Crystal Reports XI JRC do font indexing instead of subsetting/embedding, my idea was that there was no installed Wingdings font in the Linux server. I've replicated the case in my Windows machine by removing the Wingdings font.
With that knowledge, I've installed the Wingdings (*.ttf files) font in the Linux server and executed commands like ttmkfdir (as instructed in some tutorials). I've verified that in Applications -> Preference -> Fonts that the Wingdings fonts are selectable. But when I generated again my PDF file, the correct fonts are still not rendered correctly. Is there anything more I need to do for the JRC to recognize the Wingdings font in Linux.
Migrating to the Crystal Reports for Eclipse released last Jan 2009 is not a possible option.

First check is to ensure the Java JVM can see the font. The Java SDK comes with the JFC demo Font2DTest. Do the fonts show up there?
Note that the Java JRE has a lib/fonts directory, where you can place TrueType fonts that the JRE then would use.

CJK characters are not converted correctly to PDF

We are developing layout using SMARTFORMS. We are using standard function module 'CONVERT_OTFSPOOLJOB_2_PDF' to convert the SMARTFORM to PDF. Chinese, Japanese, Korean characters are not displayed/Converted correctly in PDF documents. But in Spool these characters are showing correctly.
Whereas German, Italian, French are displaying and printing correctly and converting properly to PDF.Please suggest a suitable
note/correction for the above.

Hello,Here's my situation: I'm currently upgrading from Crystal Reports for Visual Studio .NET 2003 to Crystal Reports for Visual Studio 2005. I have several reports (programmatically generated using VB.NET) that use the "File Path and Name" special field. Now, in the old version of Crystal Reports (2003), the field properly displayed the original file path and name; however, in the new version (2005), the field displays as "C:\DOCUME1\Username\LOCALS1\Temp\Filename{F2459406-3719-4C8B-917C-4A7055A18C76}.tmp" - in other words, the location of the temporary .rpt file.How do I get the "File Path and Name" field to correctly display the path & name of the original file, like it did in the prior version?- Dave

This is a known issue tracked under ADAPT0000962216. At this time I do not know when this will be resolved, however Service Pack 2 for CR 2008 is targeted to be released by September and this may contain the fix.

Dashed Table borders do not render correctly when PDF created from MS word 2013

I have a defined format for many documents which have all been created in MS word 2007. Never any problem creating PDFs of these using ADOBE XI Pro.
Updated to MS 2013 and now when converting the same doc to PDF all dashed borders around tables render as solid lines. The only time they render correctly is if I PRINT to PDF. Printing to PDF is not an option as I create batches of many documents at one time, so would be to time consuming. This was an issue when i considered upgrading 2007 to 2010 a couple of years ago, so caused me to delay upgrade.. upgrade is now required.
I have a sample of a document if required.

Just as a test, have you tried the MS plugin for PDF creation? I have found with other versions of WORD and Acrobat that PDF Maker and the MS plugin can both fill in dots and dashes on vector graphics (basically what the border is) and yet it comes out correctly with printing to the Adobe PDF printer. Unfortunately I do not have a solution. In my case, it seemed to be related to the vector graphic itself (I could import it to InkScape or other vector graphic tool and save to EMF and it then worked fine. It may be something that MS themselves have messed up in OFFICE 2013. Good luck.

Numeric fields not aligned correctly in report preview

I have the next problem:
On my report, I aligned the numeric fields to the right of a column, but when i run the preview on ASP, the numeric fields are aligned to the left.
But when I export the report to PDF, the numbers align correctly.
I figured out a workaround to this, introducing the numeric fields into text fields, since they do align correctly. The problem is that I have too many reports to apply this workaround to all of them.
Could it be a known issue of Crystal Reports XI?
Is there any other workaround?

Maybe I wasn't quite explicit before,
In preview mode my report displays correctly as well. The problem comes when I run it through an ASP, which is needed for my application.
I'm running the CR version 11.5.0.313. I was asking if it could be a known issue of XI version because when I had version 9 I didn't have this problem.
It could also be that through the time, I changed something in the way the report is displayed, and didn't realize about that before, but I haven't been lucky to notice any change related.

Preview not functioning correctly with PDF files

For some time I've put up with minor issues with Preview when viewing and editing PDF files.
However, over the last little while it has gotten progressively worse. More and more PDF documents that I download, buy, print, or get from others are failing to display properly. Fonts will be wrong, images will be missing, or it is impossible to search for text or copy and paste from the files.
The files in question are not encrypted, and they work fine in Adobe Reader on Mac and Windows, Adobe Acrobat, and even Foxit Reader in Windows.
Does anyone have any idea what causes this and how it might be fixed, or is this just bugs in Preview?
The problem has been getting worse, though I have insufficient information to know why.
Another problem with Preview is that when I edit PDF files to annotate them, it is corrupting them somehow. What happens is I will do something like highlight text and insert a few notes using Preview, and then I'll save the PDF.
From that point forward, searching no longer works on the file, and if I copy and paste anything from the file it is all garbage text.
Again, I can do this without issue using Adobe Reader and Foxit Reader.
I would prefer to keep using Preview so I thought I'd ask to see if anyone else is seeing these issues and has any ideas to fix them, or if the consensus is that there is currently no solution.

The thing is, when I right click a pdf file, and then go to properties, change default program to open with, select browse, I select it in the correct folder, when I click open, it doesnt open and the programs stay blank, so I cant select anything. There is nothing to select. And I have re-installed. But at the end of the install there are no options what file types to associate with. Any way to do it inside Reader?
I have reader 9.2.0. and Win7 up to date. When I'm opening and closing allot of files the whole time, I don't want to do inside reader. Help please?

Embedded font in a field not printing correctly

I have a field in my design that is configured to use Courier 10 pt. font. However, when the form prints it prints in a completely different font, Lucida Console 8 pt. When I test my presentment it prints correctly but when it prints through the Central agent it doesn't.
Anyone have any suggestions as to what the problem may be?

It doesn't make sense since Courier is a common font but it is possible that the specific font being called for doesn't exist on the PC running the print agent. If it doesn't exist, then it is possible that a substitution is occurring.

Reversal Indicator Field Not reflecting Correctly In BW

Hi All,
The deletion indicator coming from the DataSource 2LIS_02_ITM is not working properly for few entries and in BW its mapped to Reversal Indicator (Storno)
When we checked, we found that the deletion indicator is not working for the items which are non-statistical in a Purchase Order.
The problem is the Non statistical items when deleted in a PO in R/3, in EKPO table the deletion indicator is set to 'X' for these PO's but when extracted into BW the Reversal Indicator Field is coming as blank but it should be reflected as "R" as per OSS note 578471. But these changes are not getting reflected into BW.
Any suggestions guys?

Also, what is happening is that the record with KF's as negative and Reversal Indicator as "R" is coming in PSA as well as in New Data table, but when activated its disappearing from the new data table.
Finally its displaying in Change Log table with both the records i.e original one and the deleted one but again without Reversal Indicator "R".
--> This behavior very much fine. Datasource:2LIS_02_ITM is to load for CUBE not to ODS.

Configuration Views from 3D Reviewer not converting correctly to pdf

Scenario:-
In 3D Reviewer, I create several configurations, all with the objects in the centre of the screen.
I export to pdf and activate in Reader to view the 3D.
In some, or all of the configuations, the views show incorrectly, sometimes blank because the objects are a long way out of screen view.
A workaround is in 3D Reviewer to go to each configuration in turn and move or pan the view a very small amount.
After doing that, the configurations in the pdf usually display ok.
Is there a way I can fix this, or is it a know bug?

well, since Acrobat/Reader use camera information from PDF, it may be possible to cut PRC from Reviewer produced PDF
and wrap it again into PDF with correct camera settings using some other tool.
In this way Reviewer does just the PMI part of the work, where it seems to be the only tool available.

Linked fields not working correctly- PLEASE HELP DEADLINE LOOMING!

I have two tables. The first is called Orders and contains a autonumber field named ID. This field is linked to a field named OrderID in another table named ProductOrders. I am using a submission form with a cfinclude to submit to both tables. There should only be one Orders.ID and numerous ProductOrders.OrderID (but they should be the same number). When I submit the form there are no error messages but the ProductOrders.OrderID is blank and therefore not linked to Orders.ID. What should I be looking for? I have linked the fields in Access in properties and relationships. What else?

Some of Chinese character is not displaying correctly in PDF output

I'm involved in the 1st Peoplesoft project in Korea and having a difficulty with displaying Chinese character in PDF output.
Usually Koreans can translate their name in Chinese and that Chinese name is displayed in personal information in their company as well as Korean name.
With Oracle BI Publisher I made rtf template that includes employees' Chinese name and tried to export to PDF output.
Most of Chinese character was fine but '李' character that was ok in HTM output was crashed in PDF output.
So I researched and tested some solutions.
Here's what I did.
I downloaded and installed five fonts(ALBANWTS.ttf, ALBANWTT.ttf, ALBANWT.ttf, ALBANWTK.ttf, ALBANWTJ.ttf) in client machine(c:\windows\fonts\) and did mapping job with xdo.cfg configuration file.
After that I previewed PDF output in the rtf template and checked embeded fonts in the PDF file.
I can see the newly installed font was embeded but still '李' character is crashed.
My problem is little bit different from others becuase only one Chinese character is crashed by for now.
The Chinese character '李' is very common last name in Korea and I believe Simplified Chinese character font have in it.
Please let me know if you have any solutions or experiance.
