Mx925 - save the scan to network share

Hello all,
is it possible to setup the mx925 to save the scan to a network share? e.g., \\QNAP\scans
The network share is on a QNAP NAS, if that makes a difference.
I fear the answer is no but you never know ...
Many thanks,
George

An update.  I re-booted the server using one of the clones I made before upgrading to Yosemite and the login problem still exists.  I apologize to Apple for my earlier comments.
I now have to figure out what happened to the permissions or login for the copiers or something to cause this problem.

    HI Owen,
Perhaps your Quicken preference files are corrupted, it's not bad, and an easy fix. Locate this file or one that is similar: com.quicken.plist It should be here; MacintoshHD/Users/Library/Preferences. Open the Preferences folder, locate that file, drag it to the Trash, empty the Trash and reboot. It's ok to trash a pref file, your Mac will create a new one for you.
Also, here's the link to the Quicken forums; http://www.quickencommunity.com/

  • "The HP scan application was unable to save the file to the specified location. "

I can copy and print from my computer but when I try to save the scan I get an error message saying the HP app was unable to save the file to the specified location. I reloaded the cd and that did not help.

Hello jerlip,  Welcome to the HP Forums.  I see that you are having an issue when attempting to save a scan. I suggest that we try running the HP Print and Scan Doctor.  If you see any error codes or messages, please let me know what they are. Write me back when you have time and I will be happy to research other options if needed.  Cheers,

  • HP LASERJET PRO 200 MFP M276NW - Can't scan to Network Folder

    Hi there,
The scan to email works but not the scan to Network Folder. I have tried a lot of things but I give up.
I have given permissions to all and after share a folder it appears as shared... but does not work.
The OS is Windows 7. Hope you can help me with this because I will use a lot the scan to shared folder option.

    Hi skile88,
Welcome to the HP Forums, I hope you enjoy your experience!
I understand you are unable to setup the scan to network.
I will be happy to help you.
It is usually a issue with the Network Path for the network folder created.
Create a folder anywhere on the computer.
Right click the folder and left click properties, select the Sharing tab, click the Share button, select who you want to share the folder with or everyone. On the same Sharing tab copy  the Network Path. (example \\envy1730\users \Envy\desktop\networkfolder
In the embedded web server for the printer go to the Scan tab, select network folder setup, paste in the path for the network folder. Go through the wizard.
If those steps don't work then follow steps 1, 2, 3, to resolve this issue to try and get the network folder and path.
Step one: Make sure that the computer user account is password protected.
1.Click the Windows icon, then click Control Panel.
2.Click User Accounts, then select the account you used to log into the    computer.
3.Click Change your Windows password, then find the user account you used to log into the computer.
•If the user account is password protected, continue to the next step.
•If the user account is not password protected, click Create a password for your account to create a password, and then continue to the next step.
Step two: Define the network location
1.Click the Windows icon, then click Control Panel.
    2.Click Network and Sharing Center.
3.In the View your active networks section, click Public network under your network name. The Set Network Location window opens.
4.Select Home Network or Work Network, then click Close.
Step three: Make sure that the network sharing and discovery options are correct
1.Open the Network and Sharing Center window.
2.Click Choose homegroup and sharing options.
3.In the Share libraries and printers section, select Documents.
4.In the Other homegroup actions section, click Change advanced sharing settings.
5.In the Advanced sharing settings window, make sure that the following network options are turned on:
    •Network discovery
    •File sharing
•Public folder sharing (read and write access)
    •Password protected sharing
    6.Click Save changes.
7.Your computer network is now successfully set to complete the Scan and Fax to Network. Folder or Digital Fax to Network Folder Wizard.
I believe that this will provide a resolution to your issue. Thank you.

  • Scan To Network Folder Fails Post Install of Firmware Due To Password No Longer Being Passed

The scan to network folder has been working for over a year on my OfficeJet Pro 8600 Plus to a file share in a QNAP NAS. HP CLP1CN1435AR firmware was applied to the printer in Dec 2014. Upon my first need to use the scan to network folder feature in 2015 I find that it no longer works. Attempts to validate the once working scan setup failed. Though a variety of tests I have determined that the password entered into the web server on the printer is NOT being passed as part of the logon credentials to the QNAP.
I tested every possible combination going back to ground zero and starting fresh with multiple new user ids, passwords, network shares, 8 character user names, simple passwords, IP or hostnames in the network path, requiring SSL or not, etc. With each test, I validated that I could sign on directly to the NAS and that the user ID was authorized to change files in the network share. With each fail, I validated the logs in the router and in the NAS that traffic looked normal and it was the sign on credentials were the reason the NAS rejected the sign on. The only thing that worked was a guest ID from the NAS which does not HAVE a password. Any requirement for a password during the sign on to the NAS will not be honored or satisfied by the new firmware.
This is an egregious error - something that should have never made it out of even the first level of testing within HP. I would love to inform HP about this discovery but alas, my printer is 2 DAYS out of warranty so the forum is well the only voice with HP that I have.
Now I have to set up an unprotected area of my NAS by giving the gest account access which means that anyone who plugs a network cable behind my firewall gets to see the scanned information. Now I am very sorry I applied the firmware. Now I am getting to be sorry that I bought this and another HP printer despite being a customer for years.
I would love some help from HP but not going to put out for an extended warranty or pay for phone support for something that I have easily and clearly tested to be a problem with the new firmware.
If anyone has figured a way around this, please let me know. Hopefully it will help focus someone else who is experiencing the same problem. Network configurations can differ, ect but I am pretty sure the rash of posts in the last couple of months about the scan to network folder feature have the fail to pass the password error as the root cause.
Unhappily & insecurely scanning to a very public folder share until then. Information that is vulnerable regardless of how brief of a moment until it is moved off the share is still vulnerable information. It’s not something I can live with for the long term.

    Hi @Road_Trip ,
I have brought your issue to the attention of an appropriate team within HP. They will likely request information from you in order to look up your case details or product serial number. Please look for a private message from an identified HP contact. Additionally, keep in mind not to publically post ( serial numbers and case details).
If you are unfamiliar with how the Forum's private message capability works, you can learn about that here.

  • Scan to network folder will not work for Yosemite

Scan to network folder, which is supposed to allow the unit to scan and save to a shared directory on a remote computer, does not work in Yosemite,  though it will work on Macs sporting earlier OS on same network.
HP personnel have indicated that HP does not support Apple Mavericks. One can only assume then that it will not work on Yosemite either
Yet these units are still being sold to be used with Apple OSX.
Please resolve HP's position.  If these units will not function properly under Mavericks and Yosemite, please explicitly say so.  The scan to network feature should not have anything to do with any OS issue, and it is much more likely that the issue is faulty HP firmware.
If these units are supposed to fully function under Mavericks and Yosemite,  please provide substantive resolution of the many many problems users have experienced.
The Scan to Network feature is what makes using these units viable as scanners. The fact that this works poorly at best, and not at all on any recent Apple OS, is simple acceptable

    IT IS OFFICIAL
HP Case Manager has indicated that HP is abandoning Scan to Network Folder starting with Yosemite as OS security constraints present issues with using its current transport.
Of course this took an hour of double talk and fiddling about before the admission was forthcoming...
Shall we count the days until that information actually shows up in the forums?

  • OJ 8500: Scan to Network Folders - invalid username/password with no password.

I'm using an 8500 Pro Wireless (A909g) on Windows 7 machine.  I'm trying to set up the Scan to Network Folder feature.
Problem is this: I dno't have a Windows password set up.  In this case, the printer cannot log onto my computer.  If I set a password on my PC, and then edit the scan to network settings for this password, then it can connect.
I don't want to have a password on my PC and would like the printer to log on to it this way. I tried deleting the profile and re-adding it.  Still no luck.
    Any help?
    This question was solved.
    View Solution.

    I solved it.
    Two things to check.
1) Under Advanced Sharing Options (Network & Sharing Center --> Homegroups and Sharing options --> advanced sharing options....) -- Password Protected Sharing has to be OFF
    2) For the folder that you are wanting to share and have scans saved to, right click, properties, security.  You need to add "NETWORK" as a user and make sure its set to READ/WRITE.
    That fixed it for me.

  • OfficeJet 7610 scan to network?

I'm just setting up a new OfficeJet 7610, and if I install the full software on a PC, I'm able to use the Scan to Computer functionality on the device to send a scan to the PC.  However, it only works if a user is logged into the PC, and it only directs to My Documents.
We're in a Windows domain environment, and we'd like to set up a file share on our server and have the OfficeJet send the scans to that.  Is it possible to adjust the destination of the scan?  I've seen some references to a Scan to Network Folder wizard, but that option doesn't appear on the EWS or within the software for our machine.
I've also seen the Scan to Email option, but that doesn't accomplish what we need either, namely, scanning documents directly to a location that multiple users can access.
    Thanks,
    Bill

    Exact same issue here...
Just purchased a brand new Officejet 7612 from Staples and can't figure how to set the "Scan to Network Folder" option...
I also have an Officejet Pro 8600 and the "Scan to Network Folder" option on this one is working perfectly... so the printer scan documents to a shared folder on our QNAP NAS Server (in PDF format)...
However, the Officejet Pro 8600 can't scan wide (11x17) documents, that's why we got the Officejet 7612... but it looks like the 7612 can scan to a computer (where the drivers are installed), or to a USB stick, or scan to email... but I just can't find the "Scan to Network Folder" option... ?
Am I missing something here ?
    Thanks,

  • HP LaserJet Pro 200: Scanning to Network Folder on windows server 2012 - can't find folder

I have searched everywhere and tried every suggested solution with no luck.   Hence this post.
I have an HP Laserjet Pro 200 on our small company network (domain).   We use windows server 2012 as our domain controller and as our file and print server.
There is a shared folder on the windows server that is shared read/write with everyone on the domain.
I can access the shared folder from any computer on our network.
However, when trying to setup the scan to network folder capability,  the HP web interface always comes back that it can't find the network folder.
I have tested that it will work on our network if I want to scan to a shared folder on any of the other computers on our network (other than the main server).
So it appears to be some sort of security / firewall issue with our server, perhaps ?
Does anyone have any suggestions on how to troubleshoot this issue?   Is there any technical documentation on how a server environment needs to be changed to allow this to work ?   (BTW,  this used to work,  about a week ago and nothing changed except for installing the latest HP laserjet drivers on the windows server.
    Thanks for any suggestions.

  • How can I make OSX index a network share for spotlight?

How can I make OSX index a network share for spotlight?
I am using a QNAP NAS with SMB network shares, which I mount with OS X Mavericks. They are not searchable, as far as I know because of the indexing of network share is by default not activated.
To force the OS to index them I activated this via mdutils. But this is no solutions. This makes spotlight to index the share once. But I want spotlight to index it always and keep it up to date. I have a huge amount of documents & fotographs, which is very difficult to manage without being searchable.
Unfortunately the only solution I found in the www was the mdutils-way, which seems not to work, maybe only works not for me.
    I would appreciate any assistance,
    Thank you,
    Stefan

My thanks to everyone who has contributed to solving this problem here.
It appears that there still is NOT a good, reliable solution.  Please correct me if I'm wrong.
I did find this on http://jonathansblog.co.uk/how-to-enable-spotlight-indexing-on-a-network-drive:
    ===================================
To enable spotlight indexing on a network drive:
    # mdutil /Volumes/name -i on
To disable the indexing of a connected network drive:
    # mdutil /Volumes/name -i off
To check the status of indexing on a connected network drive:
    # mdutil /Volumes/name -s
    ===================================
And, I found this on the Synology NAS forums:
    cd /Volumes
    mdutil shareName -i on
    mdimport -Vp ./shareName
where shareName = name of your share
I have used the mdutil /Volumes/name -i on, and it seems to work.
But, if I understand it correctly, it is a one-time indexing -- the index is NOT keep up-to-date with changes.
So, how can we keep the index up-to-date?
My thought was to schedule a Terminal file to execute each night with the mdutil code.
Would this work?  If so, how would you setup a scheduled run?
Would it have to be done on each Mac that accesses the Share?

I have an issue making the scan to network function to work between HP LaserJet m1120n multifunction printer and Snow Leopard.

    my setup is different.
the printer is connected via ethernet to an airport extreme and printing is fine.HP Director/Scan is not detecting the printer over the network.

  • OfficeJet Pro 8630 Scan to Network Folder Slow

I had an OfficeJet Pro 8600 that recently died.  On that printer I had set up the feature Scan to Network Folder, which worked flawless and quickly.  I replaced the 8600 with a new OfficeJet 8630.  Configured the Scan to Network Folder feature identically to how the 8600 worked.  When testing the connection via the web interface, the connection times out and says there is a problem with the settings.  However, if you go to the printer and initial a scan to a network folder, the screen on the printer displays "connecting" and after about 3-4 minutes the document scans to the network folder.
HP support had no suggestions other than sending me a replacement printer, but it behaved the same way and was returned.  Out of ideas.  Anyone having similar issues or have any suggstions?
    Rob

Rob - I encountered the same trouble just today while installing the HP 8630 on a network.  Eventually the scans would go to the computers but it took quite a while - maybe two or three minutes - for the scan to complete.
I resolved the trouble by substituting the IP address of the computer that hosted the target network folder for the name of that computer.  For example, if the network file path was listed as \\david\8630scans, I changed it to read \\192.168.1.122\8630scans.
After repowering the 8630, the scan connection was practically instantaneous and the scan proceeded normally and as intended.  You should be able to make this change using the web interface in the scan to a network folder section.  Apparently there is some sort of name resolution problem that is bypassed by using IP addresses.
Be sure to repower the 8630 after you make the changes to the network path.

  • Network Media Player (Noontec V9-T) unable to access network shares on WIN8 Pro

I have just upgraded from Windows 7 home premium 64 bit to Windows 8 Pro 64 bit. After the upgrade, I made sure my video library was shared (both with the homegroup and my username) and that network discovery was enabled file sharing enabled etc etc.
On the Noontec Media centre I can see the workgoup called WORKGROUP. When I click on it I can see the name of my PC. But when I click on the pc name to log in to access the shares within it comes up with a username/pass box comes up. I then put in my username/pass
on the windows 8 pro machine, to which the Noontec receives an error message stating cannot login.
Previously I had enabled sharing with everyone (read only) on windows 7 home and this username/pass dialog box never appeared. Just said successful logon. So i tried sharing video library with "everyone" in windows 8 pro, the unit still can't log on.
I believe this noontec uses Samba. The last updated samba file was named "samba_3.0.23c_mipsel.ipk" when I updated the media players samba about 9 months-a year ago. i have checked the manufacturers website, there has been no further updates released.
Is there a way for me to access network shares from this media centre by maybe installing a new samba server on the windows 8 machine that is compatible with older samba clients? I am not savy with samba clients/servers at all, I just loved the way XP network
shares always seemed to work across multiple platforms... and win7/8 doesn't. Help anyone?

A lot of these media players will not work correctly. If your Video files are stored as .avi, MKV, MP4 etc.. pretty much anything excpet for .ISO, the best way is to use Plex media server on the windows 8 PC. It's free and should allow you to organise files
and libraries as you want.In fact, it's my preferred access method now, as most, smart TVs also support plex and support it well....allowing me to play the files directly in my smart TV, without using the Media players.
In addition if you have an Android tablet or phone, you can (if you want) access your media files from Plex using Media Monkey (free) and simply play them direct to the TV, Media Monkey simply hands the data stream over to the smart TV.
I have a similar set of media players and exactly the same problem with windows 8,8.1, previous shares on versions 7, vist etc..work perfectly. I use a free application on my android phone to remote start my media server/s (via the network card).
Shutter Light - Free monitoring activity and network data, to prevent unwanted sleep during Videos and to ensure the PC goes into sleep mode (disabling windows power management)
Plex simplifies everything and acts as a great central server for all types of devices and can bring media files together from different Directories/Disks, in to one set of Libraries.
