My blackberry is frustrating me...

Good day,
I own a Black Berry 9300 Curve. Every 30days, it wipes away my setting including my work profile. This has been going on for about the last 90 days! Can somebody assist me on what must I do to get the frustrations off and also to have peace whilst using this gadget!

Can you reset the device taking out the battery for 30 seconds and reinstall it again, try if this solve the problem, and let me know
If I help you with any inquire, thank you for click kudos in my post.
If your issue has been solved, please mark the post was solved.

  • Total Frustration with Playbook

I bought the Playbook about 8 months ago and it's been nothing but frustrating from day one.
To begin with the device has a problem with my home wifi connection, it connects sporadically but when connected interferes with any other devices also using the wifi network. The only solution is to turn off the Playbook and restart the router in order to get the other laptops to use the wifi.
The next problem was that the playbook wouldn't charge the tablet would draw down the battery but even though when plugged in it showed the device was charging (with the little lightening bolt) the charge percentage would never increase. I found this so maddening I put the tablet away and forgot about it.
Lately I saw there was an upgrade available (I am on OS 2.01) and I thought maybe the upgrade would fix all my problems. I've now tried 3 times to upgrade to OS 2.1 with no success. I've tried using WiFi and using the desktop software each time it went through the entire download and install process (taking several minutes) only to see that the OS was never upgraded.
I'm at the end of my rope, I'll never buy another BlackBerry device and I've been a loyal user for years. I'd love to send the tablet back for repairs but I bought it directly from RIM and I've no idea how I'd go about that.
I'd be interested in hearing any suggestions or similar experiences from other users...did I just get a lemon??

I had quite a lot of router trouble with the Playbook but got very good help from some of the people from this forum (despite a LOT of venting of frustration on my part - so I totatlly know how you might be feeling about now).
    For the router..
Basically, the PlayBook prefers the latest in routers. If yours, like mine, is an older model and you have a lot of wireless devices, then you will probably experience everything from crashing the router itself to losing the IP connection and repeatedly timing out on the reconnect.
The problem and solution (that I experienced) are covered here:
    http://supportforums.blackberry.com/t5/BlackBerry-PlayBook/Playbook-crashing-wifi-network-802-11-g-n...
Unfortunately, someone in the house screwed up the network and I had to reset it and possibly missed a step which led to some masive frustration again on my part and more help.. if you are missing any answers in the first thread, it will likely be in the two-parts that sorted my connectivity problems the second time which got it going nicely for good (touch wood).

    http://supportforums.blackberry.com/t5/BlackBerry-PlayBook/PLS-REVIEW-SETTINGS-Wifi-interference-PB-...
You should be able to sort out the router without dealing with the PlayBook, but it won't address your probelms related to the OS update.
    For the upgrade..
I'm afraid I don't have anything to help with this one. I haven't done the update yet. There are a couple of other posts from people who have had trouble with it. Some of the problem may have happened if you did the update by wifi and then connected to a desktop manager that didn't know how to recognize the PlayBook anymore because of the version change since its last sync. There are some comments on this post that happened to cross-thread with one of my own earlier today and maybe this will help you...

Good luck. If you need help with the router issue I'll keep an eye out to see if I can be of any help.

  • 8330 Disconnecting in the middle of sync from Desktop Manager, but still connected to computer

I am new user.  I love my Blackberry 8330.
However, yesterday I ran into a problem where the 8330 consistently disconnects in the middle of operations with the Desktop Manager.  It often does not occur in one place.  I have received multiple types of errors: Connector Specific Error, 0X80040fb3, Unable to Complete Synchronization, etc.  The spontaneous disconnections are not limited to calendar, tasks, or address book - it has happened during all of these and sometimes before it has even begun to sync.  I have pulled the battery once.  It synched fine after that just to have the same issues the next day.
This happens in the middle of other operations using the Desktop Manager as well.  Like backing up the files.  It will disconnect in the middle of backing up one of the files, or will only stay connected long enough to backup one file.
Throughout this, the computer recognizes the blackberry as being connected and the blackberry continues to display the "Connecting to Computer" screen.
The Start Menu and Taskbar will often hang or disappear after the Desktop Manager ceases to recognize the Blackberry and while the Blackberry is still connected.  Once the Blackberry is disconnected, the start menu and taskbar is released from hanging or reappears.
    Windows XP
    Office 2007
Facebook, IheartRadio, Pandora, Slacker, Google Maps, and a few other apps installed, Google Search, My Verizon
Also experience some spontaneous restarts but I think that has more to do with the apps than anything else.  Some JVM 102 errors upon restarts.
Feel free to ask me questions.  Love the Blackberry but frustrated.  Have tried other things looking through the forum, but none have solved the problem.
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

    JVM 102
this is your primary issue, resolve it first, will most likely resolve everything else
hopefully you have atleast 1 good backup to restore after

  • 'Failed to find Service' error w/ using Bluetooth to send pix FROM phone TO PC/VAIO?

Hi there everyone. This is an error I just started receiving tonight for the first time (that I can recall).
I have a bunch of photos on my 8900's memory (not on my memory card, but stored to my phone), and I'm trying to send them to my Sony VAIO via selecting the photo > Menu > Send Using Bluetooth. This has been working fine for me. I was on vacation in Cali a few days ago and had to transfer photos numerous times a day via Bluetooth from my 8900 to my VAIO, and everything was fine. Now that I'm home...I'm trying to transfer the photos I took with my BlackBerry to my VAIO the same way I always do, but I'm getting this error message: "Failed to find service". I have no clue what's going on!
This was probably a foolish move on my part but I removed my BlackBerry from my list of Bluetooth devices on my VAIO and also removed my VAIO from my list of Bluetooth devices on my BlackBerry. Frustration got the best of me and I figured a clean fresh start might fix the problem. It didn't make it worse, but I'm still encountering the same darn problem.
I've seen similar problems occur with other BlackBerry models, but older ones. Pearls, etc. Someone mentioned connecting my BlackBerry to my VAIO to update it w/ the BlackBerry update tool. I thought that was something that could be done over the air..? Or am I wrong? Problem is, I can't for the life of me seem to find that darn USB cord. (If anyone could tell me or direct me where to order a new one, that'd be great)!
ANY help or assistance with this matter would be greatly appreciated. Thanks so much!
Oh! And yes, I do have my Bluetooth enabled on both my BlackBerry and my VAIO.

    (edited out personal information)

    Hi!
    So...a couple of questions:
    1) On which device does the error message appear?
    2) Does the error only appear when sending from your BB?
    3) Can you successfully receive on your BB?
    4) Are you able to transfer files via the USB cord?
    Thanks.

  • Frustrated with Blackberry Desktop Software

    Hi all
Im new to Blackberry Land. I have a Blackberry Pearl 8220 and my carrier is ATT. I have tried unsuccessfully to install the Desktop Software. I have 4.60 in my phone. My computer does not recognize the device (via USB) although it shows on the phone that it is connected because it is charging. The error message says COM3 disconnected and says PIN: None.I dont even know where COM3 is or how to find.  I have read through this message board and tried the suggestions given to others, including removing and reinstalling. I dont believe it is the port, as my Ipod works fine with the port and I dont believe its the USB cord, as the phone shows being connected and charging. I used the CD that came with the phone and then tried the download from the website. Im so excited about my new phone but frustrated with this part. I am grateful for anyone who can help.
GUYNFTL,,, btw, Happy Spring and Easter!

This sounds like a PC Problem and not a BB device problem.
You won't use COM3 as you'll be using USB PIN: XXXXXXXX
Just because the device charges doesn't necessarily mean it will transfer data.  That may or may not be the problem, though.  Have you tried a different USB port?

  • So frustrated with Blackberry official dealers in UAE

This message is to bring in to your notice the disappointment and frustration I had with my recent experience when I took my blackberry to repair it
I have been buying blackberry for the past 7 years and only from the official dealers, I know I pay more because I simply expect more or else I would pay less and expect nothing, and I think this is the last time I waste my time considering this brand, good brands reputation is built with a good customer service I believe.
We all know how important the word of mouth is in every market, and I will make sure I will spread the right words that fits the service that I have received from EMS representing blackberry in our market.
I am forced to say my experience will always make me think twice to recommend this brand to my friends / family and colleagues.
I hope this mail does not go in deaf ears. I will explain the problem I faced in detail, Appreciate you take time to read it.
I am forced to say my experience will always make me think twice to recommend this brand to my friends / family and colleagues.
I have took my phone to repair it since I had a problem with the screen rotation and after 4 working days the customer service representative at Etisalat explained to me that EMS had replied that they had returned the phone without even checking and they will not repair it because it is bent which also will void the warranty , I asked him to explain what does he mean by the phone is bent or if someone can explain to me ,he said he don’t know , I have to visit EMS personally and they will be able to help me more because I couldn't find anyone there to discuss further details about this issue, so I had an appointment by email with Mr. Mustapha on the 19th of August and he asked me to bring my phone with me so they could show me and clarify the problem, so I had to drive 34 KM from where I work during the day to EMS repair center in Academic city , I have met Mr. Mustapha after waiting 45 minutes because he was having lunch with another technician ,I hand over the phone to Mr. Mustapha and I said please show me what’s the problem on the phone because you guys had returned it without even checking my concern ,he said he is been informed that the phone is physically damaged ,and I asked him again do you see the phone is damaged that it worth to reach to this kind of discussion ? Then he discuss with the technician and he asked me to give him few minutes, and then Mr. Mustapha return back and said apparently the problem is with your frame, we need to replace it but we do not have the part available now ,I’m sure if there was a problem with the phone or if caused any physical damaged as they have stated in the email, they would at least have proved it to me and they would not accept to fix the phone ,so I asked to keep the phone with them ,then Mr. Mustapha asked me to keep the phone with me and they will call me when they have the part available to visit them again ,I said how long would it take ,he reply he cannot promise me anything ,then I started to feel the lack of responsibility and professionalism live and in front of me ,I said my friend I’m not asking you to fix it tomorrow I’m just asking your how and when I will get this done ,then he reply that he can promise me it will not take more than 1 month ,then I asked for a confirmation email he said I should trust him and so I did .
I waited for 3 weeks without hearing anything, and then I had to follow up , I tried to call Mr. Mustapha on his number, he didn’t answer so I sent an email as a gentle reminder that we are getting close to the period that he promised me, I did not get any reply on the email the same day ,the 2nd day in the evening I receive a phone call from Mr. Mustapha asking me to bring the phone because they have another technician which he is more expert and technician said the problem is not from the frame the problem from a part in the mother board and they will repair the phone on Saturday the 14th of September, I said fine I will pass by and drop the phone .
Then I had to drive again to EMS repair center and I met Mr. Mustapha, and I hand over the phone and he mentioned that phone will be repaired on Saturday ,I said it is fine just give me a receipt that you have received it , he said I cannot give you any paper because I cannot enter your request on the system ,I said why ,he reply IT WILL BE AN OFFICIAL CLAIM if he enter it on their system ,I asked how will you repair my phone then ?he reply we will use some parts from another used scrap phone and EMS is doing it as a favor for me , I said sorry I do not need favors from you I just need to be treated as any customer buying your products ,then I took my phone again and he did not hesitate to fix my issue .
I have paid money more than anywhere else in the market, I do not need favors from you sorry, I did you favors when I have been patient enough and my time is been so wasted .
If you expect me to expect no customer service when I purchase your product from your official dealers then I expect to pay less money than Europe and the US.
My point is that I believe my time is valuable and second your premium brand and your customers should be treated in valuable and professional manners as well.
This is a brand reputation risk and as I mentioned earlier I will make sure I will speared this experience where ever I go in any way I can.
This mail might not be of any importance to any of you , But I hope the as a senior management will consider this issue very seriously .

Agreed, Etisalat has a horrible reputation for customer service and BlackBerry cannot control that. It is unfortunate.

  • BlackBerry Z10, so many frustrating issues

I have been using my Blackberry Z10 for 4 months.  I still have so many issues that don't work like I would like, and I know if there is something that can fix them.  There is a list, for sure there are more that I don't remember right now.
Battery: it never arrives to low charge before turning off.  Close to 35-30% it goes to sleep.  I tried some of the solutions I´ve read (full charge after taking out battery, reset, etc) but nothing worked.
Two times blocked: Since last OS update, I unlock the phone with my key and some seconds later another screen asks me to put the key again.  It doesn't happen always, but very frequently.
GPS and tracking: I downloaded every app for tracking gps, like Endomondo, Runkeeper, etc, and no one works.  It is always "searching for satellites".  Sometimes, in an hour, it gets the satellites for e few seconds.  I downloaded GPS Status, as mentioned in other forums, and it works.  But not the other apps.
Transferring files: When I connect it to the computer and want to transfer files from internal memory or the microSD card, it looses connectivity while transferring.  I have to move files to the SDcard, then take it out and transfer them in the SDcard reader in the computer.
Music stops while playing: very frequently music makes very little pauses during the play.  I hate that when I play music.  I kill all the tasks, so the only thing running is the Music, but it is not solved.
Wrong words learned: when you make a mistake and type wrongly a word, it remembers it and suggest it up to the end.  For example: it seems I once wrote "Germn" instead of  "Germán".  So I type G+e and it suggest me "Germn", then I type the r, and continues suggesting "Germn".  I hate that.
Automatic message in the mail account: I must turn off the Automatic message "Sent from my smartphone..." every few hours.  It goes back to on and put that message again...
    Any idea of possible solutions?
    Thanks,
    Martín

If you had one or two issues, I'd suggest tackling them individually but because you're experiencing issues at this level, your OS should be looked at.
What OS are you currently running? To find this out, swipe down and select Settings>(Category - OS) and give us the OS version.
    Cheers.

  • Frustrated with BlackBerry Storm Contract....

My wife and I purchased BlackBerry Storms in July of last year... What a mistake. Within months, we were having the same issues that every other person that purchases this BlackBerry branded paperweight was having: Screen freezing, trouble typing on the screen, slow processing speed, etc. etc. etc. I gave my wife the early upgrade in July, leaving me stuck with my mistake for another 10 months. For me, possible alternatives do not include purchasing a used phone on ebay or amazon... I'd like to purchase a reasonably priced working phone under contract. What to do?
    Thanks!

Sorry to hear about your Storm issues. I'm guessing you have first tried talking to customer service to see what your options are.
You can upgrade 20 months into your contract ... can you make it until March? Or you can buy new phones on eBay too, not just used ones. Your only other option, as I see it, is to pay full price.

  • Contacting Blackberry is so frustrating

I have been trying without success to integrate my email settings so that I can use email on my brand new playbook. I live in Ireland. I CANNOT find a way to access the 90 day support I am eligible for as IRELAND does not seem to be anywhere on the screen for either North America or UK. I cannot find a phone number. I cannot find a way to talk to ANYONE! I have only had the playbook a week, and was enjoying getting used to it knowing the upgrade was due out yesterday. I got it installed easily, but this experience - and that includes trying to post a message in the vain hope somoene from support would actually see and respond - is making me despair. Has anyone got a UK number I could ring? A normal number, not a lowcall. Will be very happy if I get any help at all, if I can ever find my way back to this forum!!!

  • Unable to log in to BlackBerry ID after OS10.3 update - Now playing tennis with BB Help and my service provider

I am running OS 10.3.1.1779 on my BB Q10 and recently purchased a BB Classic thus wanted to switch device.
The BB Q10 neither allows me to download switch or back up my device using BlackBerry Link - it keeps asking to sign in to my BBID.
I am able to sign in to my BBID from comp and from mobile web on device but not from the BlackBerry App World or Hub. I enter my email and then password, after a few seconds the password field goes blank. It logs incorrect password attempts but in not logging in with correct password.
I tweeted BlackBerry help who suggested a device wipe. I sadly do not have a recent back up and need ALL the contacts i currently have and thus that is not an option. They then suggested I contact BlackBerry Technical Support with my service provider (Safaricom Kenya) - they have never heard of it and asked me to contact BlackBerry directly.
I am at my wits end as I can neither migrate to my recently purchased Classic and neither can I use my BB Q10 without the following message popping up in my hub every time I open an app:
    BlackBerry ID
One or more applications/services require you to verify your BlackBerry ID.
    ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:
    - User name and password have always been the same
    - Tried reset password, followed prompts, accepted on mobile web and comp - Unsucessful from BB Hub/Appworld
    - Tried the wait 8 hours to log in - Unsuccesful
    - Tried hard and soft reset - Unsuccesful
    - Tried without SIM and only WiFi - Unsuccesful
    - Tried only with SIM and without WiFi - Unsuccesful
    - Tried rebooting phone while connected to BlackBerry Link - Unsuccesful
    - Tried backing up with both phone and comp on Airplane mode - Unsuccesful
I scoured the net and saw many similar issues. KB35119 is the closest I came to in finding a similar error on the Knowledge base and it has no resolution.
I am extremely frustrated and dissatisfied with this issue. Does anyone have an idea of what could be the issue or way around this.
    Thank you.

    Dear Blackberry,
I am experiencing the exact same problem, is there already a solution available?
    regards,
    Bart

  • The ability of blackberry ,its customers, and investors to progress exists within our own capability *edited as it was late when i posted the first time

As I read these various posts I see that blackberry users are innovative, demanding, creative, particular but effective smartphone users.  However sometimes our frustration manifests in the typical comments such as:
Come on blackberry how the eff could you not include in the z10 "mypin" auto generation in sms.  How the $hit do you think I invite most of my bbm contacts, not as many people are using blackberries you know so the email invite (yes it generates in email mode so you can simply copy and paste) is not as efficient any more.  There i am done ranting
What if we knew blackberry's attentions were focused in this support forum, and through it they could make sure their updates meet the needs of  their users? If bb'ers begin posting ideas within categories that would effectively cover all aspects from application/ interface adjustments to developments blackberry devices could effectively grow with the user.  It is a beautifully reciprocal experience as companies/individuals will have free market research and power of change.
Companies and developers can simply calculate if they have a positive return on their investment of time, cost, resourcess and efforts.  Whether it be a company who is  interested in direct billing, a contract or advertising OR a customer is interested in attempting to impact a change.  Both sides have a vested interest. People could see how many others potentially like their new ideas whether in be in the realm of functionality or applications.  I have been told (and have read a bit)  Linux systems are an awesome example of how ideas mixed with creativity, critique, feedback and passion drive the force that is innovation, which is amazing.
We have the opportunity to create what could include even more people now.  As mobile technology  spans the globe and should call for impeccable security, who better to afford you and your ideas both the collaberation potential with the luxury and security of the safest network in the business.  Since the phone is complete as a unit superficially; shape and weight are perfect for  a phone, 3.5 small buttons on the whold device, and perfect size screen for communication and visual needs, (also read my post on external battery charger.....bravo blackberry),there would only be a need for minor external and relative internal improvements as technology requires adaptation.  Thus the only thing to really continue to work on is the interface and user experience.
It is a work of balance and interdependence as both consumer/creator roles are shared by all parties within the company/owner and the open market.  The customer experiences the ability for impact on their own environment and efficiency/comfort withn that through application and function improvements, and blackberry gets happy loyal customers and supporters.
If we knew could post ideas with the help of blackberry of course (online tallies ballot system etc) to provide numbers or structure or to help guide the process of evolution in regards to this aspect of our lives (obviously they cannot make every change in the same amount of time as they would have to balance attending to ideas with great support to addressing ones with fewer numbers but specific ideas.  Also the factor of people who like the option as it is or would support change would have to be taken into consideration. ) than I am certain our dispositions would change when we encounter an obstacle because we know there is option for remedy.
For example with a great enough support for lets say to change a function of operation, there is also the possibility that the idea would simply inspire blackberry to offer it in various modes like ringtones notification or options within program settings are. I am sure as a group of intelligent users we could contribute to the establishment of a ratio for attending to the necessary factors involved.  How does it work with linux systems?
We would have to be patient of course as this would take time to gain the momentum it would require to have turnaround be speedy when it occurs.  It could happen, remember happy people are patient people.  Show us you hear us, make some of the changes that we see and address over and over in this post and it is inevitable you will see an increase in users and ideas which will only keep the progress in motion.
Eventually every idea reaches a point where you decide if there is enough reason to continue to develop, practise, or refine it. If not you simply move on to your next idea. Blackberry If you allow people to share ideas on an item that is so vastly involved in our daily lives how could you not continue to receive support.
If not this (as this is simply ones persons idea ) , then please blackberry, establish something that shows you hear and acknowledge us because you have a dedicated group of  driven and precis users who simply want their blackberry to work because they see its true potential and it has the ability to surpasses all other mobile experiences  in terms of convenience and output as it once did. Some of your users are also financial supporters who believe enough in what you have the potential to create they invest their own hard earned money.  I am both and I am certain others are in the same situation. I have never been so frustrated and so happy with the same item than I have at different points throughout my years with blackberry.  The customer support or lack of voice has been my biggest concern. We scrutinize your products daily, we have some of the best feedback for you, but without a reception they will only turn into complaints or rants.
Offer the capacity for impact at a level no one else has to this point in the game has. As you prepare to launch to one of the biggest user markets  in the world see that there is the potential to also create one of the largest communities of innovation in the world.
Smartphone users collectively creating a device that would be both seamless and secure anywherre it went on the globe  Owning the software and the hardware affords you this ability to offer us some input to some level. The ability to adjust to your users constantly changing environment is what every business owner should strive for.   Listen to your customers before they end up in the rant section of their forum.  Please continue to let blackberry know we would like to have our feedback heard.
    Thank you

On your BlackBerry, pres the gree dial key and them enter ##000000 and press the green dial key again. You should get the CDMA Service Edit screen.
The first line will be your phone number.
The second line (IMSI_S) should be your service center, and if not, enter the number there and save.

  • Blackberry 8310 Curve randomly deletes text/sms messages and phone logs

Why does this keep happening to me?
There are times that my phone goes over a week without it happening and then there are times like today it has happened three times.
I will have maybe 5 ot 6 text messages in my inbox and maybe 2 or 3 emails and I get a phone call and POOF the text messages and phone logs are gone!
I have repeatedly lost important text messages and numbers from my call log.
The tech support excuse for it is that I have too many messages in my inbox which causes it, but 6 sms messages and 3 emails is too much?
I have tried everything (updating the desktop software, updating all of the settings NOT to delete messages until i delete them, hard booting my phone once a day, etc..) and it still does it.
This also used to happen with my Blackberry Pearl.
If I can't get it resolved, I will just switch to the iPhone.  I can deal with the randomly dropped calls, but constantly loosing my call logs and text messages is BEYOND frustrating and Blackberry tech support has been no help!.

    DCmuseum,
    Hi,
You have low free memory left on your device.
Do you have a lot of third party applications on your BB weather, icall, bbalerts etc?
I do not know your experience level, so if you know this I'm sorry but please read and let me
    know if this applies.
Most people close the applications by pressing the escape or red key. This does not close the applications.
Each application has a CLOSE option. For instance if you are in the calendar hit the menu key (spotted key) and scroll down to the bottom CLOSE is listed. Go through each application and press close. Go into the browser press menu and options select cache operations clear all categories and hit escape it will say cleaning memory.
Go to options - security - memory cleaning - enable it. The BB will now clean memory when idle for 5 minutes.
you will have an icon on you screen for memory cleaning make sure you press it. Make sure you use the CLOSE button each time you are done with an application.
Read the link below and follow each step that Tanzim outlines,
    http://supportforums.blackberry.com/rim/board/message?board.id=8300&message.id=9225#M9225
If you follow these steps and keep up with your memory your phone will operate smoothly.
Please let us know if you need help with any of the steps.
    Thanks

  • What to do when your address book disapears. For Blackberry Pearl.

I went nuts when this happened to me. Not that I didn't have a back-up, you should ALWAYS have a
back-up of all your info. I knew that all my contact info was still there, because when someone called or
when I called someone on my address book, all their information still came up on my phone. So I knew it
was all there, but when I went to the address book itself, there was nothing there, and it simply said there
were no contacts. I even added a new one, and that was not showing up in the address book either. VERY
frustrating. So I called My service provider and begged for help. Being a new black berry user, I didn't
know squat about what to do, and I couldn't find anything online that helped me to fix this problem. So, if
this happens to you, (which I am told it happens to people a lot), Here's what you do to fix it....
First you make sure you have a back-up copy of all your backberry info using your blackberry desk top
program. after that, make sure that you blackberry is disconnected from your computer. Then go to the
options on your main menu, click the trackball. Then go to the Security Options menu, click the trackball.
Select General Settings, click the trackball. Now press the balackberry menu key on the left of the
trackball. Select Wipe handheld, click the trackball. Ok, I know thes sounds a little scarry, but trust me it
will all be ok. Once it resets everything your pnone wont work and it is going to look like all your info is
gone, but that's ok. Now go through the setup wizard like you did when you first got your blackberry to set
it all up. you don't have to add in all your info or setup all your emails, you can re-enter all your info later,
and the emails will automatically be re-setup when we are all done. Now To get all your stuff back on the
phone, connect the blackberry up to your computer, and go to your blackberry desk top program. In the
desk top program, go to back-up and restore and restore your most recent back-up. Now click the
blackberry menu on the left of the trackball, select register now, click the trackball. Go to the options
menu, click the trackball. Go to advanced options, click the trackball. look on the next menu for Host
Routing Table, click the trackball.  Now with your blackberry dial *228 and select option (1), to get your
phone in service again.   Now go online and go to: (http://www.blackberry.com/go/vzw), make sure you
have your blackberry.com password and user name and your blackberry pin number. If the user name and
password you have do not work, than unfortunately you'll have to call your service provider to help you
with that. For Verizon, the number to call is: 1-800-922-0204. It's best if you do not call them from your
blackberry. Now what you want to make sure is that you have all your email passwords etc. Now from
here, you can either have your service provider send to your phone the Service Books, or you can just get
the info for the website I gave so that you can log onto it and send the Service Books to your blackberry
on your own. If you have your service provider help you, this is where you'll need your email passwords,
because before you send the Service Books to your blackberry you'll need to revalidate all your emails
accounts by clicking on the red symbol on the left, and it will ask for your passwords and take care of all
the rest. Once you have all your email accounts re-validated, then you can send the Service books to your
blackberry. You'll see the link on the left upper menu of the page that says Service Books, click on it and
wahlah.  Now give it about 15 seconds or so. go to your black berry. Turn it off, and back on again.
Now turn your blackberry off and on again. When it comes back on follow all the menu promptings etc.,
and bingo you got your address book back.

    Welcme to the Frums!
Sometimes when the address books disappear, a filter has gotten turned on.
Go to address book>> menu >>> filters >>> and make sure nothing is checked in either box.

  • Blackberry software has stopped working

I have a Pearl 8120 with software version v4.5.0.182 platform 2.7.0.106 with Blackberry Software 6.1.0.35 on a Vista laptop.
I have been syncing my Pearl with Outlook for a long time.  Earlier this week, I received an error right at the end of the sync (as it is moving data to the device) which said "Blackberry Desktop Software has stopped working".  I have been troubleshooting every since.  I can get it to successfully sync if I delete the intellisync folder or reinstall the software.  However, the problem returns on the next sync.  So, now, unless I delete the intellisync folder, it errors out before the sync completes (this is always happening after it reconciles and asks if I want the changes to occur.  Here are the things I have tried:
    1) did a hard restart on the blackberry (removing battery)
    2) freed up memory on the Blackberry - moving media files to the memory card
    3) repaired the Blackberry software
    4) did a complete uninstall of the software and reinstalled
    5) ran a log and tried editing the last outlook appointment
    6) ran scanpst.exe and scanost.exe
    7) did a one-way sync from outlook to the device
    8) deleted the intellisync folder (multiple times - works the first sync, fails after that)
I have not changed anything on the Blackberry or the Blackberry software that I know of.  The pc is a work pc, and so there could have been an update to the o/s or other program that could have been applied (they would not be applying any blackberry updates).  I am getting very frustrated trying to figure out what is going on.  Any help would be appreciated.
    Thanks
