  • HT1414 iPhone works okay when charging but often gets a white screen when I take it off charge

iPhone works okay when charging but often gets a white screen when I take it off charge - I have tried resetting it and getting help online but the system asks me for an email address and my iPhone isn't set up for emails yet - if I got a text to trigger the automatic diagnostic service I could retrieve it from my 'poorly' device

First, update iTunes, then connect the phone to the computer and do a restore. This will also get your iOS up to date. Your phone should operate correctly after doing this, if not, you will most likely need to have the phone serviced or replaced.

Did you already try to reset by holding the sleep and home button until the Apple logo comes back again?

  • My iPhone 5s restarts while charging and none of my downloaded apps will open

MMy iPhone 5s restarts every time I plug it in to charge. And none of my downloaded apps will open except for a few. I've restartedmy phone, deleted the apps then redownloaded them, ive reset my network settings, and even reset all of my settings in general. But nothing will work

    Hello d.ashley.,
The troubleshooting steps detailed below can help stabilize your iPhone.
Verify that the Sleep/Wake button functions. If it does not function, inspect it for signs of damage. If the button is damaged or is not functioning when pressed, seek service.
Check if a Liquid Contact Indicator (LCI) is activated or there are signs of corrosion. Learn about LCIsand corrosion.
Connect the iPhone to the iPhone's USB power adapter and let it charge for at least ten minutes.
After at least 30 minutes, if:
The home screen appears: The iPhone should be working. Update to the latest version of iOS if necessary. Continue charging it until it is completely charged and you see this battery icon in the upper-right corner of the screen . Then unplug the phone from power. If it immediately turns off, seek service.
The low-battery image appears, even after the phone has charged for at least 20 minutes: See "iPhone displays the low-battery image and is unresponsive" symptom in this article.
Something other than the Home screen or Low Battery image appears, continue with this article for further troubleshooting steps.
If the iPhone did not turn on, reset it while connected to the iPhone USB power adapter.
If the display turns on, go to step 4.
If the display remains black, go to next step.
Connect the iPhone to a computer and open iTunes. If iTunes recognizes the iPhone and indicates that it is in recovery mode, attempt to restore the iPhone. If the iPhone doesn't appear in iTunes or if you have difficulties in restoring the iPhone, see this article for further assistance.
If restoring the iPhone resolved the issue, go to step 4. If restoring the iPhone did not solve the issue, seek service.
My issue is still not resolved. What do I do next?
    Contact Apple Support.

  • Remove iPhone from case when charging?

Ok, this may be a dumb question, but I would rather post a dumb question than really mess up. Once I read somewhere to take my iPod out of its case when I charge it, I guess it keeps it from getting too hot or something. My question is, should I take the iPhone out of its case (Marware leather flip vue) when I charge it, either at home or in the car?
    Many thanks in advance.
    Jan3

The iPhone does not get particularly warm when charging, so it shouldn't normally be necessary to remove it from the case. If you're in an already-warm environment (e.g. a hot car) it's probably not a bad idea, though. High heat is bad for fully-charged batteries.
    Hope this helps...

  • TS3367 my iphone 5 restarts when I try and use my facetimemy iphone 5 restarts when I try and use my facetime..

My iphone 5 restarts eveytime I use my facetime, why?

    The Basic Troubleshooting Steps are:
Restart..  Reset..  Restore from Backup..  Restore as New...
Try this First... You will Not Lose Any Data...
Turn the Phone Off... ( if it isn’t already )
Press and Hold the Sleep/Wake Button and the Home Button at the Same Time...
Wait for the Apple logo to Appear and then Disappear...
Usually takes about 15 - 20 Seconds... (But can take Longer...)
    Release the Buttons...
    Turn the Phone On...
If that does not help... See Here:

  • Iphone get warm when charging?

so i have a agent18 case for my ihpne when i charge it gets warm is that normal?
also my wifi is on would it help if i turn the wifi off when not n use?
    thanks

Yes, it's normal for the phone to get warm when charging; too hot to touch would be a problem. Good idea to remove it from the case when charging though.
And yes, get into the habit of turning off Wi-Fi and Bluetooth when not in use, as they are major battery drainers.
    Hope this helps.

  • IPhone restarts when charging?

I just got my iphone 4 a few days ago and every time I plug it into my computer or into an outlet with the wall charger it restarts. I get the temperature warning screen, then the phone restarts. Before the apple logo comes up there is a low battery sign in the screen. About 10 seconds later, the low battery sign goes away, the phone starts up, then about 10 seconds after that I get another temperature warning followed by another reboot.
Does anyone know what could be causing this? My apartment is around 50-60 degrees F so temperature doesn't seem to be an issue and I've already tried multiple cables. Another thing is that I tried doing a restore on the phone. When the phone was in restore mode and was still connected to my computer it was fine. No restarts, which makes me thing it's a software issue. I called Apple support and they had no idea why it was happening. I would like to take it into an Apple store but I won't be able to in the near future.
Does anyone have any idea what could be causing this? Or hopefully any ideas on how to fix it? I can't even set it up on itunes because it keeps rebooting. Syncing music or movies is out of the question.
    Thanks

If you cannot restart, reset or restore, then you will have to take it to an Apple Store or call Apple support to arrange for and exchange.

  • IPhone 5 restarts when opening texts

I bought an iPhone 5 on launch day and that same day, my phone restarted itself when opening a text directly from the lock screen. I didn't think much of it then and just went on with it but then within the next three weeks, it happened to my phone three more times. I figured Apple would have me restore my phone before swapping it out for me so I went ahead and did that on my own, before calling Apple's tech support about the issue.
My phone seemed to be working fine, after doing the restore, but then the next day, it did the same restart thing twice, when trying to open texts. So that was six times that it happened to me within a month so I finally called Apple and they told me I'd done everything they would've recommended I do so they went ahead and set up a Genius Bar appointment for me to get it replaced.
The next day, I get my phone replaced by Apple and everything seemed to be working ok after the first few days... But then exactly one week after getting it replaced, it happens again! I've now had the replacement phone for 10 days and it has happened to me three more times.
I've tried searching forums about this issue but haven't found anything so I thought I'd share it with you all, in case any of you have heard anything about this or if it's happened to any of your phones.
And by the way, I originally set up both phones as new phones, when I got them so I know it isn't an issue with an iCloud restore.

I have an iPhone 4 , had it for maybe 4 months and it had started doing the same thing with no rhyme or reason for it , some times it will do it 2 or 3 times in a row other times will not do it at all, it's very disappointing considering this is my first apple devise and it's already got issues , I'm not gonna mess with it, it will be going back to the place of purchase ASAP . This one thread is all I have been able to find about this problem so it seems to me this is a very very rare problem

  • Iphone 4 restarts when docked

    Dear all
When I play music from my iphone 4 via a sound system (through a dock) every few moments my phone restarts!
I'm guessing this isn't supposed to happen!?
    Any suggestions?
    Many thanks.

    I have the same problem...
I thought it was something to do with my car not playing it correctly but then I tried it in my friends car and it does the same thing, and his iPhone4 works fine!
Called O2 and they said they would need to send it away to an Apple technician for 10+ days to see what the problem is. Anyone else got any ideas?
Have tried hard-resets, full system resets and is all up-to-date with iOS 4.0.2.

  • HT1476 iphone cuts off when charging

when i plug my iphone in it cuts off and shows a blank screen, it starts starting itself up while on charge by showing the apple logo then just cutting off and starting again and keeps doing that. ive tried charging it by both a wall mounting plug and the computer and it goes it on both!! its got nothing to do with the hardware, ie the battery as ie had it checked and been into the apple store and the batterys in perfect condition. help please

Oh well, just an update, but I finally got the restore stuff downloaded, but it had an error and can't restore it, I guess I need a new one then.

  • Unresponsive iphone starts up when chargeing but itunes will not pick up iphone

iphone is unresponsive but when i plug it into the wall charger it comes on saying it needs to be restored but when i plug the iphone into the laptop it isnt comming on or pickin up the iphone so therefor can not restore anyone any ideas

Clean the dock port very carefully with isopropyll alcohol, especially the pins, which are on top of the midrib. Be very thorough and firm but do not break anything. Let it dry for half a minute at least. Connect to computer, if nothing, clean again.

  • Iphone 3G overheated when charging - no longer charges

    Hi Everyone
I had an incident last week where I went to stick some charge into my 3g phone before bed so that I could set my alarm etc for the morning. After 10 minutes I picked the phone up and it was pretty much too hot to touch, I later found a sliver of paper that was in the connector which was all burnt which has given me major cause for concern.
Since the incident I was able to use the phone to listen to music on the train to work however it has not taken charge on any charger apart from one in my local O2 store.
They tried both the charger I had charged on and one in their store, my cable and charger did not work wheras theirs charged immediately.
I have tried buying a brand new cable, new 3rd party charger and also now tested on my sister in law's 3g cable and mains charger and none of these have shown the phone to be taking any charge. I have also tried charging via my usb 2.0 port directly from my PC and there should be no issues with poser on there with a 700w PSU.
Any suggestions on how to proceed are welcome as I am now out of ideas.
    Thanks

My 3g has just started doing this in the last two weeks. I usually have to do a reset on it to bring it out and even then it can take a while. There was a few times I had to let it completely discharge and then when plugged in it would reboot. It is doing this now about once or twice a week. Nothing is different on the phone and everything is pretty much off do to the I/OS 4 disaster. I have really like this phone until the problems with the O/S and now this. Wish there was a solution out there.

Do you receive any error messages?  Without a more specific error messages I would recommend completing the steps listed in Troubleshoot system errors, freezes | Windows | Adobe software - http://helpx.adobe.com/x-productkb/global/troubleshoot-system-errors-freezes-windows.html.  Please feel free to respond to this thread if you have any questions about the steps listed within the document.

  • Iphone 4 scorched when charging

Last night I left my iphone 4 in my Philips DC315 'made for iphone' Alarm doc and now it is scorched at the connector and not sure it is charging anymore? Anyone else had this issue?

Sounds like some hardware failure with either the DC315 or the phone causing it to overheat and burn. I would try making an Appointment with Apple to see what they say.
