- iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
- Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode
How to put iPod touch / iPhone into DFU mode « Karthik's scribblings
- If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
- Try another cable
- Try on another computer
- If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

More information: The iPod ran out of battery late thursday night and I plugged it in to charge. The charging symbol appeared but within 20 minutes, the ipod had gotten very hot and had gained no charge. It hasn't been dropped and it hasn't gotten wet. It's a year and a half old. I use an otterbox as a case, but this problem began three days ago, despite my having been using the brand of case for over a year. It's super important that I find a way to fix this. Help please?

Hey all -- I can't get my ipod mini to turn on, and when I plug it into my ibook, nothing happens -- the computer doesn't seem to know it's there. Any thoughts?

I have an unusual problem..... I let me friend borrow my Mini and a few weeks later she tells me that it's not working dead!!! The iPod is about two years old...Think???....I asked her give it back....I plugged it into my iBook and Now all you see is the Apple Logo then the battery dead!!! I leave the iPod pluged in and sometimes it turns on and iTunes recognizes the Mini but it shows a sign that says something like your iPod is currupted and may need to be unplugged...Plug it back in and restore...But Thing is that I'm not able to restore it but I can't WHY?!?!?!?! -
I tried to export photos from iMac to iPad using a USB flash drive. The photos are on the drive but when I plug it into the iPad, the iPad says the device requires too much power. Any ideas of what type of USB flash drive I should use?
You can transfer photos outside of iTunes. I do it all the time. THat said, i have a 50/50 success rate with them. I'd avoid sandisk and kingston, their bundled software triggers the 'too much power' warning.
I've had mixed luck with lexar, some work, some don't.
I did have good luck with an older 4 gig geek squad one.
Look for drives without software on them, without bright LED lights and I haven't gotten any larger than 4 gig to work, but that may just be me.
For a less troublesome way? h onestly, I use a SD card that I've formatted with the DCIM folder. I've never had one of them trigger the 'too much power' warning. Just make sure they're not SDXC. those don't work. -
I have an Iphone 3gs and today I had taken some pictures and my battery was 8% i was looking at the few I had took. Then my phone died but when I plugged it into the charger and got it on I went to upload the pictures but they were deleted! All my other pictures that i have taken are still there, it just deleted the ones I took a couple of hours before it died!
I was just wondering if there is anyway of getting them back at all? and how common is this?Sounds like your iPhone was hacked to unlock and now updating locks back to the original carrier.

I have a 5th generation ipod with video 30gb. It will not turn on. i made sure it was unlocked. I have tried plugging it into the computer. It will not even charge. Whats wrong with it? I havent used this ipod for a few years. I have no idea what operating system it is running on.

i have been unable to use my iphone for going on a week. It started by shutting down when ever I'd try to use it. Now it has just a dead black screen. If i plug it in it doesn't charge And the flashing apple continues every 2seconds never charging or turning on. I'm frustrated because I can't even get in to troubleshoot. I bought an iphone cuz I thought it was the best phone at the time. My contract isn't up til Aug. and I'm stuck with a bill and no phone. I do not own a computer but I have an ipad4 which I love. HELP!
Make an appointment at the genius bar are your nearest Apple store. At this point there is nothing you can do without a computer, so if you don't have one and don't know anyone who has one that you can use the Apple store is a good fallback.

What can I do? I dropped my iphone (not from a great height) and now it won't turn on however when I plug it in the white apple shows on my screen. My lock button has been broken for awhile so I can't even try switch it on!

I tried to update my iPhone 5 this morning with the new software update. Now my phone won't turn on. When I plug into iTunes, it says that my phone is in recovery mode and that it needs to be restored to factory settings. Is there a way to fix this without losing my settings? Why would this happen on a software update?

That is not what it says. Read the message again. It's telling you it has detected an iPhone in recovery mode and it must be restored.

My ipod froze so I restarted it, but then it happened again, so I restarted it again, and it was fine but then it ran out of battery. Now when I plug it into the charger it, the Apple sign comes up for 5 seconds then disappears, it doesn't turn on or come up with the charging sign. I have the same problem, and my Ipod turned off (when I held the home and power button)
but then when I held down the home button (after turned off) nothing happened, the screen is still black.

That is more than quicktime and iTunes. Follow all the instruction in the link for removing and reinstalling the Apple software.
