My Mail emails no longer show up once I click to highlight.

I used to be able to click once on an email and then see the body of the email that fits in the window.  That no longer works.  Now I have to double click and open the entire email to get any view of it.  Thought it might have been some format change I accidentally made, but can't find anything that alters this.  Any help greatly appreciated.

There is a bug in Mail triggered by receiving a password-protected PDF as an attachment. The following is a workaround that you can use until the bug is fixed.
Download and run the free application TinkerTool (not "TinkerTool System"), select the Applications tab, and check the box marked
Don't display contents of attachments inline
Then relaunch Mail.

My emails no longer show up unless I go to the mail app manually. Never had a problem before this. Help! I have shut off phone I have tried to change the time for how long the mail will show up but nothing is working

Do you mean you don't get notified of new emails automatically (eg. on the Lock Screen)?  This could be because this function is turned off in Settings > Notifications.  It could also be that the email account you use is having problems with its PUSH service, if it offers one.

  • My email no longer shows as unread when it comes in. How do I get it to do that?

OOn my iPhone5 and my iPad2 (both iOS 8.1.2), my email no longer is marked "unread" when it first comes in. what do I need to do to make it do that?

Goto the multitasking view and close the mail app. Closing and reopening the mail app should get rid of the problem. Jope it helps

  • Apple Mail - Email Send Field Showing Different Data, Unable To Sort Correctly

    Hi All,
I'm having a very annoying issue in Apple Mail, running 10.6. Some of the incoming mail messages are showing the sender's email address in the "From" field, rather than the person's "Name". There are also cases where this is happening, but this time the email address in the From field has angle brackets ( <  and > ) around it. This makes sorting of emails by sender incorrect and broken apart.
So the three different ways it's displaying in the Mail window are:
    From
    Subject
    John Smith
    Lunch Today
    [email protected]
    Lunch Today
    <[email protected]> <[email protected]>
    Lunch Today
    Here's what else I know:
    - The error is NOT limited to a specific person, email address or mail domain. In other words, it has occurred differently with the same sender.
    - The errors seem to occur in periods of time. In other words, it will display "correct" for a period of time (weeks or even months), then display "wrong" for a period of time. So it's not like every other message is different.
We contacted our ISP to see if they knew anything. They scratched their heads like we did, and they think that the issue is coming from the sender, rather than the mail server having a hiccup.
This is VERY frustrating, as I get lots of email in a day's time that can be time-sensitive.
    Thanks in advance,
    Mike

  • Mail account no longer shows

    I have 7 e-mail accounts thru ATT/Yahoo.
There all work fine with one minor exception for one mail account.
The new mail (number of e-mails) does not show up in the left hand side Mailboxes in box (bullet)
There are listed when I click into the mail box (listings) with the round blue dot for new mail.
As I stated all the other 6 will snow the round bullet with the number of e-mails
Any suggestions on how to fix it.
    Greg

    Anyone  ?
Am I in the wrong section, is there another web site I can go to ?
Do I need to explain myself better ?
    Thanks,

  • E-Mail icon no longer shows new mail in iOS 6 iPhone 4

I no longer get a little red number by the mail icon, telling me I have new mail and how many ( in iOS 6 for iPhone). I have to open to see if I have any mail. Wouldn't have to open if the red number still appeared. There must be something in settings like notifications (didn't see it there) that would turn this back on so it will work like it did in iOS 5. Any ideas??

I guess it needed time. The next morning it was working

  • HT2490 My Software Updates, my System Preference, Shut Down, and Restart no longer show up when I click on the Apple Logo. What should I do to restore these things to my toolbar?  I tried using a TM backup, but that didn't work.  I need help!!!

Look, I have SERIOUS problems with my MacBook Pro, a computer that was given to me by Apple to replace a MacBook Pro that was defective from day one.  Now this fabulous machine from Apple is totally messed up since the upgrade to Mavericks.  I've talked with "Senior Advisors" until I'm blue in the face, but NOTHING fixes this machine.  So can SOMEONE out there PLEASE HELP ME?
I live in rural Ireland, I cannot drive because I was in a coma at years ago (although I could drive if I had 10+ DUIs), I'm over two hours from the closest Apple Authorized Repair, I'm physical disablled and mobility impaired, and I'm terminallly ill.  So from where I stand, I really don't have time to sit around and wait.  It took Apple 11 months to sort out the problem with my original MacBook Pro;  I don't HAVE 11 months to wait for this problem to be fixed, but I've been waiting now for over 2 months, and my death clock is ticking.
PLEASE HELP ME!!!  TIME IS OF THE ESSENCE BECAUSE I'M DYING!!!  Now is that clear enough for you, Apple?
    Sincerely,
    Kathleen Trevena-Ruane

Have you tried to erase your drive and reinstall the OS - you should use recoery (hold Command + R keys while restarting). Since the items in the menu bar are part of the system, a clean reinstall of the system should take care of it.
As it is dangerous to post private information in a public forum, I will ask the hosts to remove it.
FWIW, we are all other users here - you are not addressing Apple.

  • Suddenly blue links in Mail message no longer open

Assisting an elderly relative. He has a six year old iMac running Tiger. Uses Apple Mail
He has two mail accounts. One from his ISP (POP) and an IMAP account for his AOL mail. The latter is the account into which most of his messages come.
Suddenly last week he finds that hyperlinks in any mail message no longer open. Formerly he clicked on the blue link and the link opened in Safari.
Now nothing happens when he clicks on a blue link which has been included in a mail message. Control clicking on the link also does not work.
What might have gone wrong and how do we fix this?
(His browser is working perfectly ; links on a web page open)

    Hi Barbara,
Could be many things, we should start with this...
    "Try Disk Utility
    1. Insert the Mac OS X Install disc, then restart the computer while holding the C key.
    2. When your computer finishes starting up from the disc, choose Disk Utility from the Installer menu. (In Mac OS X 10.4 or later, you must select your language first.)
*Important: Do not click Continue in the first screen of the Installer. If you do, you must restart from the disc again to access Disk Utility.*
    3. Click the First Aid tab.
    4. Select your Mac OS X volume.
    5. Click Repair. Disk Utility checks and repairs the disk."
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=106214
Then try a Safe Boot, (holding Shift key down at bootup), run Disk Utility in Applications>Utilities, then highlight your drive, click on Repair Permissions, reboot when it completes.
(Safe boot may stay on the gray radian for a long time, let it go, it's trying to repair the Hard Drive.)
If perchance you can't find your install Disc, at least try it from the Safe Boot part onward.
Also, Very Important, how much Free Space is on your Hard Drive first of all? Click on the Macintosh HD on the Desktop, then do a Get Info on it.

  • TS4208 Apple Mail client no longer marks my mail as read on all my iOS devices. If I read a email on my iPhone and later open Mail on my iPad, the iPad still shows the email as unread. This changed recently, perhaps after iOS7 upgrade. Did I miss a setting

Apple Mail client no longer marks my mail as read on all my iOS devices. If I read a email on my iPhone and later open Mail on my iPad, the iPad still shows the email as unread. This changed recently, perhaps after iOS7 upgrade. Did I miss a setting? All mail account are IMA. iCloud is set to push, business mail is set to fetch every 15 minutes.

Read thier own support document on the subject then
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1795
This document was written as an answer to all those who complained about it as paying MobileMe users
They ignored us then and when MobileMe became iCloud they ignored us again, and just carried on with a system that will not update the e-mail read status across all devices
That's how it works,   and like you 1000's of loyal Apple users cant believe it either but there you go

  • Yahoo Mail no longer showing up on iPhone 5

Yahoo Mail on iPhone won't show any new emails. Been a few days now. Restarted the phone several times. Deleted the Yahoo Mail account from phone and then added it back - did that twice now. All of my saved folders from Yahoo Mail show up but there is now no old or new mail in any of the folders. I cannot send any emails from the Yahoo address either.
This happened once before for like 3 days. Then I woke up one morning and all my mail was magically there.
Has anyone else dealt with this?

A lot of people have been unable to access Yahoo e-mail on their iPhones or iPads. My wife’s iPad was not downloading Yahoo mail, although her iPhone was. Both used IOS 8.2. We tried deleting the account several times and troubleshooting all of the other settings. The problem appears to have been that allowing the IOS to automatically create the account on the iPad resulted in the wrong settings for the incoming server. The following procedure, pieced together from two websites, fixed the problem for us. So far, so good.
    https://portal.smartertools.com/kb/a2659/configure-imap-for-iphone-or-ipad.aspx
    https://help.yahoo.com/kb/mobile-mail/imap-server-settings-sln4075.html
    On the iPhone, tap Settings.
    Tap Mail, Contacts, Calendars.
Tap your Yahoo account, then delete it.
    Tap Add Account.
    Tap Other.
    Tap Add Mail Account.
Complete the Name, Address (email address), Password and Description fields.
    Click Next.
    Ensure IMAP is selected.
Enter the following incoming mail server information:
Incoming Mail (IMAP) Server - Requires SSL
    Server: imap.mail.yahoo.com
    Port: 993
    Requires SSL: Yes
    Hostname is mail.yahoo.com.
Username is your full email address
Password is the same password used to access webmail.
Enter the following outgoing mail server information:
Outgoing Mail (SMTP) Server - Requires SSL
    Server: smtp.mail.yahoo.com
    Port: 465 or 587
    Requires SSL: Yes
    Requires authentication: Yes
Username is your full email address
Password is the same password used to access webmail. It may have been entered for you.
    Tap Next.
The iPhone will establish an SSL connection to your IMAP and SMTP servers.
    That’s all!

  • My folders are no longer showing up in Mail

Since early this morning, I have had issues with my iCloud mail account. As of now I am able to send and receive mail fine, but the folders I used to organize messages are no longer showing up on Mail and my iPhone. Has anyone else been having issues similar to this?

I have a macbook pro 10.6.8, that cannot upgrade to Lion. My folders are gone, and now I cannot send or receive email I've tried doing what this page recommended to no avail. So far, mail is working on my iphone and my ipad, and imac, just not my old macbook pro. I keep getting a prompt to log into my mail. When I put in the password it says it doesn't recognize the password even though I'm putting in the correct password. Somebody help.

  • Text in editable fields in PDF form won't show up once attached to email

This is probably something new to Acrobat 9 and just don't know enough about it yet. I had previously been using Acrobat 5 and made the big jump to 9. I use Acrobat to create editable fields for an invoice template that I occasionally email to customers. I open my blank template, type in invoice information (template was created in QuarkXpress then saved as a PDF) and resave renaming the file by the invoice number, then usually print a copy for mailing. Sometimes customers want the invoice emailed to them instead. Now, on my new iMac whenever I email the invoice, the customer gets it ok, but the fields appear to be blank or only show the blue field box. I emailed one to myself at another computer running XP Professional and the same thing happens only I can click on one of the blue fields and the information I typed there appears, but only one box at a time. Once I click another field the previous one disappears again. Anyone have any ideas why this is happening?

Most likely you used the Preview application to fill and save the PDF, rather than Acrobat. The behavior you describe is a known problem. I recently wrote a small article that has more information: http://kb2.adobe.com/community/publishing/885/cpsid_88564.html
Although the site seems to be a bit slow at the moment.
Here's a link to a recent topic here where this was discussed: http://forums.adobe.com/message/3268674

  • Exchange Account in Mail - lot's of email don't show up

    Hi
I have some confusing experiences Mail with my exchange email account (hosted as an exchange account by the German hosting Provider 1&1) - which worked fine for a long time.
Recently I experienced the following effects:
Email don't show. They are not lost. If I use a web browser to access my account with the Outlook Web App, all email are there. Mail shows always the most recent emails (from about one month) but not more.
If I switch between different email accounts in Mail (I also manage imap accounts and my .me account in Mail) and then back to the exchange account all or most email don't show anymore. If I close and reopen Mail the most recent emails show up again.
It's not a matter of disk space (about 400 GB free), I did the usual stuff like disk repair and check permissions.
    I'm thankful for any ideas.
    Best

Quit Mail. Force quit if necessary.
Back up all data. That means you know you can restore the Mail database, no matter what happens.
Triple-click anywhere in the line below on this page to select it:
    ~/Library/Mail/V2/MailData/Envelope Index
Copy the selected text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C. In the Finder, select
    Go ▹ Go to Folder
from the menu bar. Paste into the box that opens (command-V), then press return.
A Finder window will open with a file selected. Move the selected file to the Desktop, leaving the window open. Other files in the folder may have names that begin with "Envelope Index". Move those files, if any, to the Trash.
Log out and log back in. Relaunch Mail. It should prompt you to re-import your messages. You may get a warning that the index is damaged and that Mail has to quit. Click OK.
Test. If Mail now works as expected, you can delete the file you moved to the Desktop. Otherwise, post your results.
