My new iphone says some random name in itunes and not mine. Why?

Why does my iphone have a random name and not mine? When connected to itunes it says my devices name is some girls name.

I am also having the same issue. Please help!

You also are not showing any cellular service. Have you contacted your provider regarding that? Regarding your WiFi, do you have wifi turned on in settings? Did you get your phone to show up in iTunes on your computer? I think we are dealing with several issues since you said that you have a message on your phone to connect to iTunes and you don't have cellular service.

New Iphone 3G - Army Laptop - USB Disabled- ITunes does not see Iphone

I have a new Iphone 3G and am trying to sync up my Outlook Address Book, however my computer is a US Army Laptop that has the USB disabled. The XP operating system recognizes the device as a camera but ITunes does not see the Iphone. Any suggestions or am I out of luck?

You will have to use a different computer that isn't from DoD. As you know they have disabled USB ports except for mice/keyboards because of various world wide issues, they are being very strict about this and I don't see them enabling it for an iPhone when they wouldn't let me use them for 5 minutes to get some data from an old dying machine.

Click on the App Store icon. If it takes you to Apple's App Store, then it's a real iPhone.

Earlier at work my new 3g said "ATT 3g" and it was zippy fast. But now i noticed here at home, only 5 miles from the office, its saying "ATT E" at the top and its very slow. Does this mean the 3G is down?Or that I don't have enough signal here? I had no idea I would default back to the old slow Edge net? Arghhhhhh!!!

You don't GET 3g everywhere that is why...

New IPhone OS update wiped my contacts. iTunes is not finding my contacts file.

I have read a few other posts where people have synced their phone to an empty contacts list. That is not the case with me. All my contacts are in my "contacts" program on my mac, but now when I sync through Itunes, it is not finding these contacts. Could the recent update of the Mac OS created a second, empty contacts file?

iOS 6 (which runs on the iPhone 5) requires iTunes 10.7, which requires OS X 10.6.8 or higher.

Double click the home button and swipe up the messages app to stop it, then open the app again. This pretty much completely stops the process and freshly opens it again, resolving problems at times. I have had this happen before as well on my iPad, I get a banner, check messages, and nothing new is there.
If that doesn't work, close the app like suggested above, but then restart the phone by holding down the home and lock button for 10-15 seconds until the apple logo appears.

I'm not sure, but I know it's not recommended to upgrade to iOS 8 on anything older than an iPhone 5. I only lost my music playlists and music that was on my phone, but that music is also on my iTunes, not the playlists though, and I don't want to go through ALL my iTunes library to fix it either... But it seems I don't have a choice right now.
Whatever you do, do NOT upgrade to iCloud Drive, keep iCloud till OS X Yosemite comes out, if your computer is a Mac. I also just noticed that all my documents on my phone are gone from Pages, BUT if I go on the iCloud website they are still there. Hopefully it will all work itself out when I can update my macbook pro to OS X Yosemite.
If you backed up your phone and all your purchases off your iPhone prior to trying to upgrade you should be fine... But I'm not even remotely sure.

It sounds as though you are experiencing an issue with an Apple ID and authorizations. Based on your post, it sounds like you are familiar with the authorizing and deauthorizing process. The Apple ID in question (your wife's email) may be originating from the iPhone you are attempting to update. Is it possible that your wife created an Apple ID or iCloud account which is signed in on that iPhone? Now all my data from my old phone is lost including some really important things. Also before that iTunes wouldn't let me sync my iPhone 5s data to my new iPhone 6 Plus, saying that the data is corrupt, that's where all this trouble started. I've been trying to back-up the old phones data so I can access it, but it's been replaced when ever I plug the new phone in, and no the 'sync automatically when connected' is not ticked. Your iCoud account remains in iCloud even if your device is restored. (In fact, you can't delete an iCloud account from iCloud, you can only choose to stop using it.) If the device is restored, or it may no longer be signed into your iCloud account but your account will still exist in iCloud.
