My phone will not turn on after downloading ios 8

I updated to the IOS 8 this morning and now my phone will not turn on, it just keeps directing me to itunes and every time I try there is some kind of error, what do I need to do?

If the screen is showing you the USB wire pointing to iTunes it is telling you it has entered the recovery mode, and you have to use the instructions in http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1808 to connect to iTunes.  In summary:

I just downloaded ios5.1 to my iphone 4 and restored my previous information and now my phone will not turn on.

You don't download IOS onto your iPhone.
Use computer iTunes with your iPhone connected and selected.
Select Summary tab in iTunes and click the Check for Update button.

Try DFU Mode Restore. Open iTunes on computer. Connect iPhone to computer with USB cable. Hold both Home and Power button, after exactly 10 seconds release the Power Button, keep holding the Home button until iTunes recognizes iPhone in Recovery Mode, usually about 20 seconds time.

Start with your computer open to iTunes and the USB cable plugged into the computer but not to the iPhone. Hold down the Home button on the iPhone as you connect the USB cable to the iPhone. Continue holding down the Home button until both screens acknowledge the connection, then release.
This will allow you to restore the iPhone, which is unfortunately likely needed.
The process may take 30 minutes, so have time.
    Good luck

  • Phone will not turn on after IOS 4.0 update

So I updated to IOS 4.0 this afternoon. However during the process of copying all of my songs, vdeos etc back onto the phone it was interrupted and the phone reset itself.
Since then I have not been able to turn my phone on. All I get is the apple logo, then the screen flashes white and the phone tries to boot up again.
I cannot even get the phone into DFU mode to restore from my backup.
Does anyone have any siggestions as to where I can go from here?

I'm in the same position except the upgrade and sync went fine. It all seemed to have upgraded fine, even put my apps in folders.
About an hour later noticed it would not switch on. I forced quit and it turned on. Now it will only come out of sleep if it plugged in to itunes or if I force quit.
I have done a full reset which again went fine, restored from back up fine. Still will not come out of sleep without me holding down the power and home button for a few seconds. How can i put it back to the happy world that i was in before I upgraded.
I have seen a couple of suggestions but all seem to be if you are using a MAC, i'm on a PC.

    Hi Alljays2002,
Thanks for visiting Apple Support Communities.
If you only see the "connect to iTunes" screen on your iPhone, first try to reset it:
Turn your iOS device off and on (restart) and reset
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1430
To reset, press and hold both the Sleep/Wake and Home buttons for at least 10 seconds, until you see the Apple logo.
If you are not able to reset the iPhone or it returns to the "connect to iTunes" screen, you may need to restore your iPhone using the steps found here:
If you can't update or restore your iOS device

  • My phone will not turn on after upgrade

I did not complete the OS7 upgrade this weekend and my phone battey died last night after it died the phone goes to screen asking to plugin into Itunes which I do and nothing happens.  I went to Verizon and they could not restart it either and it is out of warranty It is iphone 4.  Any suggestions please

You need the latest version of iTunes on your computer to connect iOS 7  to it.
Here's some advice that may help:
you'll need to put the device into Recovery Mode and then try the Restore again:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1808
If that still doesn't work, as a last resort try DFU mode:

  • EMac will not turn on after downloading updates

    Hey everyone,
Yesterday my wife downloaded some updates for her eMac and now we can't get it to turn on. I've checked the power supply and it is there. When we push the power button it sounds like the monitor is trying to turn on but nothing else happens. Any thoughts? Thanks for your time

    mtntrekker30,
    Welcome to the Apple Discussions!
I'd suggest trying a double approach as one operation: reset the power supply and reset OpenFirmware and NVRAM. To do this, with the computer off, unplug everything except the Apple keyboard and mouse, including pulling the power cord from the side of the eMac. This removes the trickle current drawn by modern electronics even when nominally off. Wait 15+ minutes, then reattach the power cord only.
Next, press the power button, then hold down the command-option-o-f keys until you see the message "Welcome to Open Firmware" (black text on a white screen with a command line prompt at the bottom). Type in the following commands and press return after each (case sensitive, no spaces):
    reset-nvram
    set-defaults
    reset-all
The Mac should restart after reset-all (if it doesn't, type mac-boot and press Return)
Reesetting NVRAM can be thought of as a superset of resetting PRAM; you may need to change some of your settings in System Preferences afterwards (refer to Mac OS X: What's stored in PRAM?)
Be aware that if this works, the startup will take significantly longer than usual at the white screen/Apple logo/spinning wheel stage. Part of this will be due to the updates, most will be due to the system running a silent version of Disk Utility's Repair Disk function before continuing to the OS X startup screen. Give it plenty of time.

  • My iPod will not turn on after interrupted iOS 6 update. Please Help!

I need help with my iPod Touch 4th Generation! It was in the morning and I was getting ready for school, and I saw my iPod needed the iOS 6 update. So I updated it, and when it was installing (showing that bar) I accidently was late, and took my iPod with me. I left the Wifi Area and now when it turns on the apple logo darkens and then it goes to a greyish blueish screen. Sometimes when it turns on the apple logo darkens and then goes to the same screen with a bunch of lines across it. What happened, and how do I fix it? If I turn it off it turns on by itself and then does the same as above. Please help me!

Try doing a DFU restore in iTunes: http://appletoolbox.com/2010/07/using-dfu-restore-to-solve-iphone-problems/

  • HT201210 Tried updating to ios6, "couldnt be updated, unkown error (6)... now phone must be restored in order to connect to iTunes... now Phone will NOT turn on. ? ..... Is it REQUIRED to "restore" to factory setting?

Phone will NOT turn on after synching & updating (or trying) to ios 6. ? ..... Is it REQUIRED to "restore" to factory setting? When researching, I read that you will get an option to restore from back up.  I am not receiving any options on iTunes.... restore only & basically it is telling me I will lose everything.

I am reading on this site about the error I am getting and it wants me to change some files that I am not comfortable messing with. Mainly because it is like a foreign language. Will the store do this for me or tell me if it is neccessary?

  • My iPhone will not turn on after a yet another blue screen of death. Please help!

As mentioned above, my phone will not turn on after a yet another blue screen of death. All of a sudden it turned off, and it wouldn't turn on for quite some time, even after I plugged it in the charger. It wasn't long after the screen turned on, but it only displayed a bright black. I decided to turn it on and off a few times. Nothing worked.
I have also tried to call the phone from another one. It was as if the phone was simply off.
