N80 On 3 And Firmware Upgrades

Hi, I'm hoping to use Navicore satnav software on my N80, but the Navicore website suggests a version of firmware higher than I have on my phone. Link below states the requirement for '4.0623.0.41 or later': http://www.navicoretech.com/Consumer/Support/Compatibility My current firmware is at 3.0618.0.2. I phoned my nearest Nokia service centre, and they were happy to discuss upgrading of the firmware, and seemed OK about doing it. However, when I mentioned I was on the 3 network, this seemed to raise some problems. I was told that the firmware for 3 is somewhat proprietary, and that my version number didn't map directly onto generic firmware versions. This being the case, they would have to connect my phone up, and see what happened when their software went looking to Nokia for information. In addition, I was told that 3 firmware lagged behind the generic by some margin. So, my queries are: 1) Is there a later version of 3 firmware than mine (dated 23-05-2006)? 2) How does it compare to the Navicore required 4.0623.0.41 version in terms of currency? 3) What are the chances of Navicore software running on 3 firmware at all? Thanks in advance, Kieran

The GENIRIC-firmware of the N80 is updated; this doesn't mean that the Operator-variants, i.e. Vodafone & T-Mobile, updated THEIR firmwares as well . . .
Nokia Software Uploader looks for the Production-Code of your GSM.
With NSU, you can NEVER change your Operator-Firmware to the GENERIC Nokia one!

  • E4200V2 Manual Download and Firmware Upgrade to 2.0.7

I have a 4200V2 acting as a Router and (2) more E4200V2's acting as Access Points,
The E4200V2 acting as the Router is at Firmware 2.0.37, but, the other Access Points are at Firmware 2.0.36.126507 and when I try to have the Firmware Upgrade Utility in Setup update the Firmware it gives me this message:
    "Current Version: 2.0.36.126507
Available Upgrade: Your router software is up to date"
Where is the downloadable Firmware 2.0.7 located?
How do I upgrade the Firmware Manually to 2.0.7 and should I?
    Murray

Hello mkerdman. Suppossedly the Version 2 for E4200 has the option to automatically upgrade to the lastest firmware (and even has the option to restore it to the previous one) but if it is not working for you then yes, go for manual upgrade.
I found this from Cisco's public kb site:
    FIRMWARE UPGRADE METHOD
    1. How do I upgrade the firmware on the E4200?
When logged in to the web-based setup page, go to Administration tab > Firmware Upgrade sub-tab.  If the router is currently online, make sure the Online Upgrade radio button is selected.  Click Check for Upgrades button.  If an update is available, click the Upgrade Now button.  If the router is not currently online, make sure the Manual Upgrade radio button is selected and browse for the firmware file.  Then click the Start Upgrade button.

And to download firmware version 2.0.37 from their website: http://homesupport.cisco.com/en-us/support/routers/E4200

  • Zen Nano Plus - Connection Problems and Firmware Upgrade probl

Like many others posting on this forum, for a while I had problems trying to get my GB Zen Nano Plus to be recognized by the .0.03 Firmware Update software.
I eventually got it by doing this:
While the Firmware Update software was "Searching" for a device, I kept on unplugging and plugging in the Zen Nano Plus from the USB cable while holding down the Play button, unti it "caught". I tried this since I noticed it would initially see the unit saying "A device has been detected in recovery mode...", but then throw the unit into "non-recovery" mode and hence force the Firmware Update software to keep on searching.
Anyhoo, after it did finally "catch" it (after about 0 times unplugging/plugging while holding the Play button down), it showed my firmware as .03.02, and so I did the upgrade to .0.03. The upgrade said "Complete". I then take the unit off of USB, and put my battery back in. and. uhm. well. Now it won't turn on at all. *sigh*
So there I go again in the "unplug-plug" loop on trying to get the older .03.02. Finally caught after about 30 times (yes my hands are tired). And after downgrading to .03.02, putting the battery back in, the unit turns on fine.. WHEW.
So, beware to everyone. Not sure if I'd trust the .0.03 Firmware. Doesnt seem to work on my Zen Nano Plus, and I JUST bought the thing from Circuit City about a week ago.
And for those of you having problems getting the Firmware Upgrade to work.. try my (tiring) method.
I tried this on my Dell D600 laptop (actually used the USB ports on the docking station).

lcvdw wrote:Can you tell me what I am supposed to see if it is connected properly?
With your player connected and View, Devices by Connection selected in Device Manager navigate through as follows:
Advanced Config and Power Interface (ACPI) PC
    ->Microsoft ACPI-Compliant System
    -->PCI Bus
You should then see a series of USB Host Controllers that you will have to click through in turn to find the one your player is connected to.
Underneath each controller should be a USB Hub, and then devices are listed beneath the hubs.
For my N200 I have USB Mass Storage Device, Creative MuVo N200 USB Device then Generic Volume.
Your entry should be similar but with Zen Nano Plus instead of N200.
While you're there, right-click on the entry for the hub attached to your player and select Properties. On the Power tab it will show how much current the port can supply and in the Attached Devices list it will show how much power the player needs. In my case the hub supplies 500mA and the player needs 00mA.

  • Srw224g4 web interface and firmware upgrade

    Hi all,
I just landed new managemenet pool in witch there is a srw224g4. I'm kind a lost and disapointed because when I saw the cisco logo I told myself hey, it's going to be smmoth with this switch. BZZZ WRONG...
Ok, first, the web management just doesn't work with IE, F and chrome. Anybody has a solution? Whent googl and multiple post but nobody has a decent answer! What cisco is saying about putting on the market a switch that just can't be access by web???
I reverted to the consol for upgrading the firmware but There is nothing in the manual on how to perform... anybody did it? how to perform?
    Any inputs would be appreciated.
    Spazio

    Frank,
Have you tried any of the suggestions found in the Q&A section of this document?  http://www.cisco.com/en/US/products/ps9986/index.html  You may find something on here to help you resolve the issue.  If you don't and the switch is still under warranty you should contact the Small Business Support Center at: http://www.cisco.com/en/US/support/tsd_cisco_small_business_support_center_contacts.html if you haven't done so already.

  • ITouch stuck in recovery mode after iTunes and firmware upgrades

my iTouch has hung in recovery mode and will not restore after I updated to iTunes 7.7.1.11 and tried to update the firmware suggested on iTunes Summary screen after launching the new iTunes. The firmware I was at was 1.1.4 and iTunes was offering the update to 1.1.5. Now the iTouch is stuck.
i have tried the restore function, removed/reinstalled all Apple software, the iTouch resetting procedure (hold power & home buttons together), NOTHING WORKS.
    HELP
    Thanks,
    nitefisher

I am having problems similar to this. After the ITUNES 7.7.1 upgrade and the ITOUCH 2.0.1 upgrade, ITUNES thinks the ITOUCH is is recovery mode and it must be restored. If you use the ITOUCH it works fine. I have recovered at least 10 times over the last 2 days. The ITUNES syncs sometimes and says restore is necessary sometimes. Various other errors pop up too. "The Ipod could not be restored. An unknown error occurred(6)" is just one of the errors. I wish I could back out the software because the hardware is fine. I suspect bugs in ITUNES. It's bad enough you have to pay for the ITOUCH upgrades but they have errors in them too. I've read numerous variations of this in the last 7 days with no clear fixes. Even the problems I am having are not consistant. If anyone has a clue let me know. Thanks.

  • WLC 2504 firmware upgrade

Upgraded my Cisco 2504 from 7.0.220.0 to 7.4.111.0
and upgraded my field upgrade bootloader to 1.0.18.
Now I cannot configure my WLC from the web via IP. Had it configured properly with VLAN, switch and my ASA 5520.
Does this have to do with the ACL's on the WLC.
I've been looking for documentation can't find much in terms of best practices for traffic.
My CPU ACL on wired and wireless are disabled with no ACL for the CPU.
Any suggestions or help would be greatly appreciated.
    Thank you
    Carlos

    Hello Scott,
I figured it out. I had to do from CLI a reset system command. Once I did that everything came back up. I did not know that field upgrade and firmware upgrade took so long. The instructions say to just to a save and reboot. I found out that you need to do a reset system command again from the CLI.
    Appreciate the assistance.

  • Vision M - no connection with firmware upgrade with WMP

Now I know there's been a lot of fuss about WMP and firmware upgrades but I've got a problem with WMP0! If I connect my Vision M to the computer within seconds the Media Explorer page comes up and I'm away - success. If I run the firmware upgrade (ZENVision_PCFW_L6__42_0.exe) it comes up and says player is not connected. If I re-connect, Media Explorer pops up again and says player is connected but the firmware upgrade exe is still saying the player is not connected. It doesn't matter how many times I disconnect and reconnect, the upgrade program does not recognise the player! I checked WMP and that is version 0. So is this an earlier problem that someone's got an answer to I don't think I'll go to WMP! My Zen is version .40.02 and I'm trying to upgrade to .42.0. Please help?Glazza

Perhaps the player is faulty? Try to contact CS and see what they have to say:

  • N80 firmware upgrades (how?)

    Hello,
There has been some discussion here about the N80 firmware. My N80 is orange and suffers from a few issues. Firstly the web browser is pretty much useless for me, out of memory errors on almost every page. Relatively frequent out of memory errors in Gallery whilst attempting to play a video taken with the camera. Snakes is not playable it crashes out as soon as you actually try to start the game.
I'm wondering how firmware upgrades are peformed with a network like orange? I presume Nokia service centres wouldn't do this because of the altered firmware for the network.
I'm in the UK if it makes a difference.
    Thanks,
    Richard

Yep, but it's a pain to do as you have to keep backing up on the PC every time you get a new contact.
Is that an N95 in your pocket or are you just pleased to see me?!?
Life's too important to take seriously.
    Nokias I've owned 3210, 3310, 6100, 7650, 6600, 6680, 6630, N80, N95

  • Nokia n80 firmware upgrade problems

Hi all i just tried to do a firmware upgrade using the nokia sites stuff and my pc crashed and now my fone wont turn on could some1 please tell me
    1 if this is terminal
2 if i can sort this out myself
3 point me in the right direction for the info i need to sort out my 3 week fone
4 how much i should expect to pay if i HAVE to go to a shop to get it sorted
thanks in advance for any help given

Right first thing I would try is to connect your mobile to your pc and try running NSU again. If it connects to your N80 great you should be able to just start over.
(Tips: Run only the NSU on PC close all other programmes down. and ensure your N80 is charged fully or at least plug your charger into the N80 whilst doing the update.)
If your N80 Isn't recognised by the NSU then its dead and the only way go revive the poor little things is to:
1: Take is to a Nokia Service Centre. Carphone warehouse is usually your closest NSC, If your lucky they will have an 'on site' techinician and he will fix your N80 within an hour or same day, if not then you will have to leave it with them for a week or so.
2: Call your Service provider, tell them your N80 just went bye bye and they should swap it for you or at least give you a refurbished N80.
You won't be charged by the Nokia Service Centre for any work done as your within your warrenty and if you choose to go back to your service provider you should also be covered. This has happened to me and I sent my N80 back to O2 they had a refurbished model sent back to me within a couple of days with no charges.

  • N80 Firmware Upgrade

Hey, I have had an N80 for nearly a year now, and last night when I was attempting to back up my phone it seems to have gone a bit mad.
Every now and again a Message flashes up saying
    MESSAGE: SUPPORT NOT FEATURED
This is when going into Text messages or phone gallery, consequently I am unable to view the messages and the gallery as they will not load.
I would be grateful if you had any ideas on what it could be and what I could do? Could it need a firmware upgrade?

I think it's unlikely that a firmware problem like that would suddenly appear after a year.
I would check the memory card first as it sounds like it could be problems there. Failing that, I would back up the phone and memory card and do a factory reset on the phone (see the pinned thread on the smartphone board for details of how to do this) and a reformat of the card.
If you still have problems, then it's a trip to the service centre, I'm afraid.

  • N80 Firmware Upgrade success!!

I had been waiting for this firmware upgrade for the N80 since this service started. I am glad to say that the upgrade was successfull. I was a little worried because i'm not from the UK, but from South Africa and so doing the upgrade was a bit of a risk, but there was no risk!
    Finally. I'm happy now

    What is your n80 variant?
Type *#0000# on your phone, whats the number after "NOKIA N80"
    example: (58.01)

  • Firmware Upgrade and Battery Life?

Since the firmware upgrade on my Macbook in early February the fan appears to be running at full speed all the time and battery life is crap! Has anyone else noticed this? Is there a fix/workaround available please?

Sounds more like an app stuck processing that shouldn't be....does happen from time to time. Behing hot means it is constantly processing.
    To fix:
    Try a reboot (described below).
Think of it this way, the iPhone is more of a computer than a phone. It suffers from being a new OS and nobody can deny there are not bugs and memory leaks. The longer left running, the more things start to fail or slow down (I have had the iPhone since day one of original phone and I am just speaking from my experience). Thus I equate it to like when Windows95 came out...not sure of your age or if you remember those days...but back then it was a running joke of how many days you can keep Windows 95 running before you had to reboot. I am sorry to say but the iPhone is the same way right now (but getting better with a few hiccups back during the 2.0 release). So for me, I reboot daily when I leave in the morning and take it off the charger. By doing so I rarely see any lag or problems.
    A reset/reboot is:
    Go to Home Screen
    Press and Hold Home Button
Keep holding and press and hold Lock Button
    Keep holding Both
You will see Slide to Turn Off (Don't let go to slide, just keep holding)
The phone will turn off (in time, but screen will look like it has some white lines)
    Keep Holding
When you see the Apple Logo, you can let go.
Turning off via the Slide to Turn off while good and fine to turn off, is more like the Sleep Mode on a computer. Thus any locked up issues in memory remain when you turn back on. A reboot as described is like doing a real Turn off and Turn On on a computer.
You may also wish to read this tread about reboots and odd application behavior.
    http://discussions.apple.com/message.jspa?messageID=5851978#5851978
    For me, 2.1 works great.

  • Firmware Upgrade causes severe slowness and Hangs

Has anyone else encountered this problem? I did do the firmware upgrade, and that caused slowness in responsiveness (followed immediately by that spinning wheel). In some cases, it completely hangs. At this time, I also tried to VNC into it, and it wasn't listening. It looks like GUI and network connectivity got hosed. This happens at least 10 times today.
    Any suggestions?

    spingineer,
I haven't seen the firmware update (done 2x) alone cause the problems that you're mentioning. In fact, I didn't notice a thing after running it. I DID notice issues when I ran all the updates (machine fresh out of the box and then everything at once). You machine shouldn't be any slower. Make sure you have enough free space on your drive.
The obvious, and often underused, diagnostic tool is to create a new user account and see if the issues persist there. If not, then look to what's running in your login items and your applications. You may just need to repair permissions, but sometimes it helps to verify or repair the disk.
As to the network connectivity. I'd say it's basically a given that a lot of minis aren't good citizens.
What I see is contention. It's like the machine thinks 'oh, someone else is using the connection so I'll back off a bit then try again', even if nothing else is on at all. It could be partially hardware, there are changes in the machines; but it might be something that can be solved w/ modifications to the stack. It's almost like a feedback loop. The more you use the connection the more it thinks it is competing w/ other machines for access and the slower it becomes. Try the usual, zap the pram, repair permissions, etc. There's a good link if you use search to a tutorial that may help you w/ some network connectivity issues on the mini. (moving out system configuration, promoting your primary connection to the top, using the assistant, rebooting and zapping the pram).
As easy as it seems to look at the firmware as the source of the problems, I haven't seen that as the foundation issue for either of the difficulties you are experiencing with your machine.
Hopefully a few simple resets and permission repairs etc will remedy the issue.
    Good Luck,
    -j

  • Help..I updated my iphone4 to iOS to 7.1.1 from 6.1.3 at last stage of firmware upgrading throwing an error 16 and stuck in recovery mode.

    HIAll
I waited so long not to update of my iphone4 to 7.x.x because of bugs and not much stable for iPhone4 and many reviews from friends saying phone is very slow and many bugs but after release of iOS 7.1.1 of many improvements for iphone4. I tried to update my iphone4 to 7.1.1 through iTunes at last stage of firmware upgrading its showing an error occurred error (16). I checked in internet error16 is purely hardware issue before my phone is very good condition in iOS6.1.3 no problem with my phone, But after upgrading to how it will be hardware issues. why Apple engineers are not testing properly their software’s before releasing great updates to customers now my phone is out of warranty and I can’t use it anymore just showing iTunes symbol and charger on the screen while on/off showing apple logo. From the past September there is no proper solution for error 16. Don’t know  what these people are doing about that error why apple is crashing customer phones by releasing useless update to phones what is the point of buying such a expensive phones don't know what to do with this phone. Tried many possible ways
Tried: presing home+power button at 95% of  firmware update
              Disconnected battery and restored
              used DrPhone to restart
tried to restore old version 7.x.x
              no luck.
              used new original cables
              restored with Macbook
tried to restore in 3 Different computers and so many times but  no luck

Hi, to get your iPhone  4 back to normal, here're two ways for you.
    1.  Use Dr.Fone for iOS. The free trial version can fix iPhone screen of death. The free trial version can do that, you don't have to pay.
Just download and install this software on your computer and connect your iPhone 4 to computer with a USB cable. When it detects your iPhone 4 is abnormal, click Restart the device to get your iPhone 4 to be normal.
    2. Use iTunes to fix it.
Step 1. Make sure that the latest iTunes is installed on your computer.
Step 2. Plug into a USB cable to connect your iPhone4 to computer.
Step 3. Press and hold the Home button and the Sleep/Wake button at the same time for about 10s.
Step 4. 10 seconds later, release the sleep/wake button. But continue to hold the home button until a message comes out, saying "iTunes has discovered an iPhone 4 in recovery mode, you must restore this iPhone before it can be used with iTunes".
Step 5. Click your iPhone 4 in the left sidebar to show the device control panel on the right. Then, click Summary.
Step 6. Go to Backups section and click Restore Backup.... In the drop-down list, choose a backup file and restore to your iPhone 4

  • Fans And Voume after FirmWare Upgrade

    Hey there!
I have two very positive pieces of information, some repeated:
    1) The volume of my speakers and "line out" was weak at best prior to the FirmWare upgrade. Now, it is positively explosive! I mean, the volume control works just like I would have expected. Perfect...
    2) The fans are coming on more consitantly. I can actually hear them now, which makes me wonder... The temp on the Hard Drive has not gone above 92 since I upgrade the firmware (not that I have noticed however).
    Bob

    Hi Bob!
What did you use to check the temperature?
I installed the 10.4.6 and the firmware, and now I could cook an egg on the keyboard. I didn't have the heat problem before, now after the updates, I am fried (literally).
